6 - Dreams and Nightmares

My legs felt like they were about to give out, I kept running and running. There was loud crunching noises not too far behind, chasing after me. The fear of getting caught is what kept me going. I pushed pass tree branches and bushes before running into a big open plain.Though there was someone sitting in the middle of it, crying and screaming their heart out. As I crept closer, I instantly recognized the person. "Mom?" I mumbled.

But she didn't look at me, she looked down at her lap and cried, wailing out my name. "Mom? I'm okay! Don't cry!" I shouted, running towards her. Although as I kept moving, it felt like I was going nowhere. She seemed even further away from me.

"Oh, Luna! Stay with me!" She screamed. As I looked down at her lap, I noticed a lifeless body laying in her arms, blood splattered everywhere. Is that — me? I stared at the motionless body in horror, I seemed dead.

Once again, I heard footsteps approaching me from behind, faster than before. I turned my head and screamed as a man grabbed me —

I shot up from my deep slumber, screaming in terror, thrashing around for comfort. "Luna!" I felt my mom wrap her arms around me tightly before whispering soothing words into my ear. "It's okay ..... you don't have to be afraid ..."

I don't know what that was, who that man was or why I had that weird nightmare. Why was my mom crying? And .... was I dead? Just the thought of me being dead and my mother crying made my heart ache.

We sat there for a bit before she pulled back and looked at me with a reassuring grin, "Are you okay? What happened?"

"I had a nightmare ...."

"Do you wanna talk about it?" But I shook my head and told her that I just want to forget about it for now. She easily understood and got off of the bed, motioning me to follow her. As I adjusted to my surroundings a bit more, I noticed that we were back in the room that I woke up in. Is this where mom lives?

"You must be hungry." Instantly, I perked up and looked at my mom, nodding my head vigorously. She let out a soft chuckle before opening the door that led out into a hallway and into a massive room filled with tables, chairs and windows. "Luna, honey, this is Fairy Tail. It holds a special place in my heart so you can trust everyone here and feel safe."

"But there's no one around." I pointed out.

"It's a bit early but this place will be filled with unfamiliar faces so I don't want you to be scared. Everyone is friendly and will love you just as much as I do."

I grinned and nodded at the thought of meeting more people. Though I've only met two people, Juvia and .... that man with weird colored hair. "Mama," I tugged on her skirt, "Where's Juvia?"

She sat me down on a stool and gave me a weird look, "Luna, you have to call her your aunt. Be respectful."

"Sorry, I forgot ....." it feels like I've been doing that a lot lately. I just hope mom doesn't get mad at me for forgetting things. "It's okay sweetie. I can make you my specialty, it's all I really know how to cook."

For some reason, it was like a new piece of my memory came back to me. "..... chicken?" I uttered, feeling weird at the fact that I recalled that so suddenly.

"Yeah — did you just remember?" I nodded and watched as she began to chop us some vegetables, though I couldn't help but cringe at them. I hate veggies. "Oh Luna, stop being dramatic. If you wanna grow tall and strong then you have to eat these."

"I don't wanna .... they look yucky."

"No buts, you'll eat them. Don't be stubborn like your —" but she suddenly stopped for a brief moment before continuing chopping again. "You okay mama?"

She looked at me and nodded, "Luna ..... about last night. Why did you call him your dad?"

I thought back and remembered the man, I really don't know why I called him that. I know he isn't my dad because he didn't seem all that familiar. But I did know him from somewhere, I just couldn't think of where. "I don't know. You guys seemed really close .... so I thought he was."

Mom stayed quiet for a minute or two after my response, I thought she was mad for a second until she smiled at me, "You know Luna, your memory must be really bad right now. So if you have any questions I could answer them. Then maybe you'll remember a few things."

I nodded and tried to think of some questions to ask her, "Are you almost done?"

"Is that really your question?" She giggled, pushing forward a big plate of chicken. I looked down at it with a huge smile and nodded, "I don't think well on an empty stomach."

"Ah, good point."

By the time I was finished, a few people came in and greeted me, some even crying a bit. I barely know these people and yet they're ecstatic about me being here. But even so, I was still anxious about all these people.

"Mom ...... wheres Aunt Juvia?" I asked once more. She looked down at me and grinned, "You know what? How about we go and visit her instead. That way you can get some fresh air as well." I smiled widely and pranced around her as we began to head out.

I couldn't help but let out a giggle seeing my daughter humming a soft tune, she seemed really happy to go and see Juvia. I must thank her for finding Luna, if she hadn't I don't know where we would be right now.

"Look Luna, it's not too far away — Luna?" I questioned, noticing she stopped a couple feet back. "What are you doing?" I asked.

She pointed at a bunch of flowers growing in a flower pot out front of a store. I don't know what she was implying though, "What? Do you want to buy some?" But she shook her head and continued to point at them, not saying a word. "Hon, you have to use your words or else I won't know what you're talking about."

"I — I forgot what they're called."

"They're flowers honey."

Luna looked down at them and then at me, "No not that. The things flying around it."

I looked again and seen several bees flying around, "Bumble bees." I answered.

"I remembered something else."

"What?"

"Bumble bees mean dad right? My dad. I used to call him something like that."

Though I looked at her in shock, she's remembering a lot of things so quickly. Especially about Sting, she seems really eager to remember him again. So I looked at her and nodded, motioning for her to continue walking. "Yes. You used to make fun of him because of his name."

"What's his name? Where is he?"

"Uh, well — oh look sweetie! Fairy Hills. That's where Aunt Juvia lives."

Her eyes lit up almost instantly as we walked up the slope, leading to the complex. Thankfully she instantly forgot about what we were talking about earlier, I don't want her to think about Sting yet. We've called him and left multiple messages so many times yet we got no response.

As we walked through the doors, I was instantly greeted with a familiar face, "Bisca!" I waved. "What are you doing here?"

She pointed behind her and chuckled lightly, "Just had to see one of the girls that borrowed my jacket last week. What about you?" Her eyes wandered down beside me, noticing Luna's soft grin. "Lucy ..... is that — Luna?" She mumbled in confusion.

"Nice to meet you Aunt Bisca ..." Luna politely smiled and stuck her hand out. Immediately, Bisca dropped to her knees and hugged my daughter tightly, practically shouting that it was so nice to finally meet her. "You look so much like your parents!" She wailed.

Thanks a lot Bisca, you just had to bring the topic right back. Hopefully this time I can find something else to distract Luna. Soon after, Bisca left and said to come back to the guild so Asuka and Luna can meet which I agreed to.

We walked down the halls, scanning each door in hopes of finding the right one. "I think it's that one." I pointed out down the hall. Luna grinned happily and ran towards the door, instantly knocking.

"Sheesh, someone's excited."

"Well, I just want to say sorry for being rude yesterday. She was so nice to me."

I smiled warmly and patted her on the head, she still seems to be the same kind hearted little girl I remember her to be. The door creaked open, Juvia's head popping out. "Lucy? Luna?" She mumbled oddly.

"Good mor —"

"Good morning!" Luna shouted over me, waving her little hand around in the air. Juvia grinned and opened the door to let us in, though as I walked past her I could tell something was wrong. But I didn't want to question her just yet. "Make yourselves at home."

I nodded and sat down on a couch as Luna began to roam around freely, "Don't touch anything Luna." She nodded and continued on.

"She seems like she's doing better." Juvia grinned. "Yeah, I just wanted to swing by and tell you that I couldn't be more thankful for you finding her yesterday."

"Oh it was nothing. Anything I could do to help you and Natsu."

"Who's Natsu?" Luna popped in out of nowhere. Once again, I mentally facepalmed at the fact that he was brought up once again. So I sent Juvia a certain look before she says anything else. "You know what Luna? Why don't you go over to that chest and see if you can find anything interesting in it."

Luna grinned and scurried over into a corner, unlatching the hooks and digging through the box of things. I looked back at Juvia and said in a lower voice among us two, "I don't know what I'm gonna do. At this rate someone's gonna slip up and say something about Natsu."

"It's her first day back, just give us some time to get used to the fact that she doesn't know."

"I know but .... maybe I should just go back to Sabertooth. She's more familiar with things there." Although she instantly shook her head and frowned, "Aw c'mon. She's a destined Fairy Tail wizard for crying out loud. You know that just as well as I do. She's got the confidence and attitude."

"Juvia — you know I can't just take Sabertooth away from her. She may not remember much now but when she does, she'll ask about it."

"Well how are you and Sting? You guys still haven't talked?"

I shrugged and rolled my eyes, "So what? He has the audacity to say such things to me, plus not answer our calls yesterday."

- Sting -

As soon as I seen the building in sight, I could feel anxiety build up in the pit of my stomach. I sprinted even faster, hearing Rogue not too far behind of me. So I pushed open the doors, instantly catching everyone's attention.

My eyes scanned the crowds of people but to no avail, I didn't see her anywhere. I ran over to the bar and looked at Mirajane for answers, "WHERE IS MY DAUGHTER!" I gasped out.

"Sting? Where were you this whole time?"

"I'm sorry I didn't call back! They didn't let me on the train so I had to sleep at the train station and — that's besides the point! Where is Luna!?" I exclaimed. Though she rubbed her chin in thought, "Not sure."

"You're not sure? What do you mean you're not sure?"

"I came to the guild and seen that Lucy must've taken her somewhere."

"Taken her where? Why couldn't she just wait here for me?"

Mirajane propped her head into her palm and looked at me slyly, "Well we've been trying to contact you, you were the one who didn't respond."

I heaved out a heavy sigh and slammed my fist up against my head in frustration, "Well do you know where she would've taken her?" Though she shook her head and continued wiping the glass cups. But I looked at her, asking once more, "Help me out Mira. You know more than you're saying."

She glanced up at me, still cleaning the glasses, "You know Sting, I love having you here. We've all accepted you as part of us. But what happened with you and Lucy —"

"Nows not the time for that, please." I begged. So she nodded and said that they went up to Fairy Hills to visit one of the girls. Before she could even finish her sentence I sprinted out the doors with Rogue trailing not to far behind me.

I snorted of laughter seeing Juvia comb out my daughters hair. Luna kept scrunching her face up in pain from each stroke, "Do you really have to brush it Aunt Juvia?"

"Well do you want to go around town with a birds nest on your head?" She joked, earning a loud groan from the little girl. But I just smiled fondly and stood up, browsing around her room. After all these years Juvia still had some Gray plushies lying around. Though the thought of him made me frown instantly, "I miss him a lot too ......" I heard Juvia speak up.

I turned to look at her and grinned sympathetically, "It must be really hard for you still." She nodded and continued brushing Luna's hair, not saying another word.

"Who are you guys talking about?" Luna asked, another loud groan following. "Your Uncle Gray."

"Where is he? Is he dead?" She plainly asked.

"Luna! Don't be asking questions like that!" I scolded her immediately, though before I could lecture her any further someone was banging on the front door. "You expecting anyone?" I asked Juvia but she shook her head.

I got up and walked over to the front door, listening to see if the person was still there. Just as I thought, the banging continued, I swung open the door and glared. But I was met by the person I least expected.

"Sting ...."

lmfao, I couldn't come up with any other type of food besides chicken.
