04 | A Bad Start
Warning:
There is a use of strong language in this chapter. Just a heads up.
But without further ado, here's chapter 4. Enjoy!
It's been a month since we arrived back here in Canada.
Caro and I are at a cafe doing some work. Caro is doing some business things on her laptop while I edit my video.
Currently, she is ordering us some food and drinks. I went for my fave caramel macchiato and strawberry cheesecake, Caro went for an iced americano and some red velvet cake.
I was sitting down at a table near the window when I suddenly revived a call from my manager Janette. I answered the call, she started talking really fast that I couldn't understand what she was saying.
"Hey wait, I can't understand a thing you just said. Slow down!"
"Oops sorry, I said that there is a show in Korea that wanted to do an interview with you and Caro. And guess what?!"
"What?"
"BTS IS GONNA BE THERE TOO! ON THE SAME INTERVIEW!"
"WAIT WHAT?! How I don't understand?"
"The producers called me and said that they really wanted you guys on the show. But since they already booked an episode with BTS in it, they just wanted to put you both together for a special episode. Amazing right?!"
"Omg, that's unbelievable!"
"I know right!" She squealed, probably jumping up and down in excitement.
I was shocked and excited. "Okay send me the details and the contract so I could look them over."
"Ohh and if you decide to go, get me their autographs or something okay?! "
"Alright, I will, bye!"
"Bye-bye!" I cut the call and opened my Gmail to see if Janette sent the stuff.
I quickly looked over it and it seemed all right. I also looked at the details that they sent. They wanted us to sing 1 song and do 1 dance, as well as the interview. That's ok with me.
I am a fan of BTS but I wouldn't really call myself an ARMY. I only know their names, their songs, and dances but that's about it. Like I've mentioned, I don't really like to "stalk" idols.
Unlike me, Caro is a huge fan of BTS. She's loved them since they debuted, she was the one who introduced me to them. Actually let me rephrase that, Caro is a huge fan of kpop in general. Like... all groups. And she's memorized just about everything about each member. Totally not creepy...
Anyways, I called Janette back and told her to call the producers and tell them that we are going to do the show.
I am not going to tell Caro just yet that we are gonna be on the same show as BTS. I want to surprise her, I will probably tell her once we are actually there.
I saw Caro coming back with our food so I quickly closed my Gmail so she wouldn't see anything.
"I have secured the goods." She said sitting down in her seat.
I took my drink and cake and started eating. I love cheesecake way too much.
"Ohh by the way, Janette called and said that there is a show in Korea that wanted to do an interview with the two of us."
"Just the two of us?"
"Yep, and I already said that we'll do it so you can't back out."
"Yayyyy, and of course I won't back out. What would we be doing on the show?"
"Well it's an interview, and they want us to sing one song and dance one song."
"Ohh Okay, that's sounds good. When will we be going?"
"In 1 week."
"Ohh really?!" She started squealing and clapping her hands.
I just nodded while taking a bite of my cake.
She clasped her hands together and smiled. "I'm soo excited to go back to Korea!" She went on and on about what she wants to do again once we get there.
I chuckled and agreed with her. She doesn't know the surprise, and she won't till next week.
*****
[One week later]
We have one more day before our flight to Korea. The show's company was paying for our flight and hotel, and they're letting us stay for another week. So that's 2 weeks that we get to stay in Korea.
It's currently 4 pm, and I had just finished packing my luggage. I made sure to check everything off my checklist. I also made sure I had my passport. I also checked my backpack with my filming gear, chargers, camera, and laptop.
I was all set to go. Now I just need to pick an outfit to wear. Since it's early November, is pretty cold outside so I should definitely dress warmly.
I will go with some jeans and a comfy oversized sweater and my jacket. I will also wear some cute boots.
I brought my luggage and backpack downstairs so that tomorrow morning I won't have a hard time bringing them down.
Our flight is at 7 am, so Caro and I want to be at the airport by 5:30 ish so we are early. I set my alarm for 3 am so I don't wake up late.
Caro was already done packing, she started packing the day I told her we were going to Korea. She's way too excited.
She was in the kitchen prepping our dinner. She was craving tacos so we decided to make some tacos and burritos.
Her boyfriend Henry was also there, he was cooking the meat. It smelt soo good, my mouth was starting to water.
I helped Caro chop the lettuce and then I started making the burritos.
Not long after we were seated at the dining table eating our delicious dinner.
A few hours later, after eating I cleaned the kitchen and went to my room to get ready for bed.
Well, I won't be sleeping yet, I still need to edit a video and post a picture on my Instagram.
I will probably be sleeping at around 12 since I still have a lot to do.
Tomorrow is a big day for us, and I hope nothing goes wrong. I can't wait!
*****
I woke up to the sound of my alarm. I tossed and turned before I quickly turned it off since I was starting to get a headache from it.
It was 3 am and I was still super sleepy. I didn't get much sleep last night since I just kept tossing and turning and I had a bad dream. I couldn't fall asleep, maybe cuz I drank coffee.
I really need to stop drinking coffee, even 1 mug of coffee in the morning won't let me sleep at night.
I got out of my bed and stretched, my body was aching and I felt sore. I put my slippers on and walked to my bathroom and got ready for my shower.
Since we are leaving at 5, I need to take a 30 min shower only. I don't want to be late.
I got out and changed into the outfit I prepared last night. I also did some light makeup and blow-dried my hair.
I grabbed my jacket and phone and went out into the living room to see if Caro was ready.
I was pretty grumpy due to the lack of sleep. I really wanted to drink a glass of coffee, but I know that I shouldn't if I wanted to sleep well at night.
I was kinda hungry so I grabbed some crackers and started eating them. As I was snacking I saw Caro came downstairs looking really happy, she was fixing her jacket.
She walked into the kitchen and screamed when she saw me.
"OMG WHAT THE HELL! You nearly gave me a heart attack!"
Henry came running down the stairs, baseball bat in hand. Where the hell did he get that from.
He ran into the kitchen and also got started when he saw me. He nearly threw the bat at me.
"What the hell is wrong with the two of you?! Do I look like some sort of ghost or something!?" I looked at them kinda annoyed.
"Well, why the hell do you look so scary?" Henry questioned pointing the bat at me.
"What do you mean? I'm just eating crackers here, can't you see?!" I was starting to get even more annoyed. My day was starting off on a bad start.
Caro had a concerned look on her face. She came up to me and put her hand on my forehead checking if I was sick.
"OMG, YOUR BURNING! WHY THE HELL ARE YOU SICK!? DID YOU GO OUTSIDE WITHOUT YOUR JACKET AGAIN OR SOMETHING?!" She slapped my arm before she started looking through our medicine cabinet for some meds.
Henry grabbed my arm and turned me around so I was looking at him, and he too checked my temperature. He was equally as shocked as Caro.
He grabbed my arm and took me to the living room to sit. He ran back to the kitchen and grabbed a small bucket and filled it with cold water and some ice.
I was sitting there just watching this whole shit show unfold in front of me.
I didn't even realize I was sick, which probably explains why I didn't get any sleep and why I was grumpy today.
They both came rushing towards me with the thing they have gathered.
Caro made me drink the medicine, and Henry forced me to lay down. He put a towel in the freezing cold water and put it on my head to cool me down. Caro also grabbed a towel with the water and wiped my body with it to cool me down faster.
As you can probably tell they were both super overprotective over me due to some things that happened in the past. They are always like this so I am not so surprised.
I looked at the clock above the fireplace, the time read 4:12 am, our flight was at 5 am. We are probably gonna be late at this point.
Caro saw me looking at the clock and she too looked. It was a bad idea because now she was even more frantic.
"Ohh nooo. It's almost 5! How about we just cancel the interview?"
I sat up, "NOOO. We can't, we have to go! I'll be fine, we can't miss this interview and we can't reschedule it!"
She looked at me and sighed. "Well, we can't go if your sick."
"I'll be fine, this will probably go down soon. But we can't miss this!"
She sighed and ran her hand through her hair. "Okay fine... But we need to try to reduce your fever for now. We still have a bit of time anyways."
I nodded and laid back down. I closed my eyes for a bit to relax since I was starting to stress out.
Caro and Henry got back into doing what they were doing. Caro kept trying to make me drink more water.
They even thought that it would be a good idea to let me stand outside in the snow to cool down. Yep, they have definitely gone crazy.
Somehow Henry managed to heat up some leftover ginseng soup and made me drink it even though things were chaotic.
After 30 mins of Caro and Henry frantically running around trying to lower my fever, my temperature was only a little bit high.
Caro and Henry were loading our things into Caro's car. I was gonna help but they made me sit down and rest since I was still sick.
After they were done, we got into the car and started heading to the airport. Henry was going to drive so that he could just bring the car back home unlike last time. The last time was a bit of a hassle.
During our 40 mins drive, I took a nap in the back seat. Since it was 5 am, there weren't any cars out. And the sun hasn't risen yet.
The drive was quiet, all I heard was the sound of other cars passing us and Caro and Henry talking quietly.
Once we arrived, Henry helped with unloading our stuff and we bid our goodbyes. Henry kept reminding me about my meds and to drink lots of water.
When he was gone, we went inside and got checked in. After going through security we went to our gate and sat down to wait.
It was only 5:57 am, we still had about an hour left before our flight. Caro decided to go buy us breakfast while I stayed behind.
I loved how Henry and Caro were so overprotective of me. It makes me feel loved and safe. I am super grateful to have them in my life.
Not long after Caro came back with some McDonald's breakfast. She was gonna buy something healthier for me since I was sick but there weren't many shops open yet.
But this at least I'll get some energy after eating more food. I was still so tired and grumpy.
I took another nap while waiting for our plane to start boarding.
"Zoey... Zoey... ZOEY!" Caro shook me so I would wake up. I almost fell out of my seat since I was startled.
"Come on we are boarding now." Caro grabbed her stuff and so did I. We started walking into the plane.
The company was kind enough to let us have business class seats. I've never flown in business.
But as expected, it wasn't as fancy as first class. But this was good enough for me as long as I can sleep on a small bed.
After take-off, Caro helped me make my seat into a bed and I took a nap for a few hours.
Since this was a direct flight to Korea, our flight was 11 hours like last time. I ended up sleeping for 4 hours.
When I woke up, Caro made me eat some food and drink medicine. I was still feeling kinda sick, so Caro took my temperature. It was a little higher than before we left for the airport.
She was getting more and more worried about me, but I just kept insisting that I was fine. I didn't want the surprise to get ruined because I was sick.
I felt bad, but there's nothing I can do except try to get better.
Throughout the rest of the flight, I watched movies and slept even more.
Once we landed we got off the plane and it was 9 am in Korea. We got our things and headed out of the airport after getting through security.
We saw our driver holding a sign with our names on it and ee headed to the car. Our hotel was only a 25 min drive from here.
As we were driving I was still feeling quite sick. But it wasn't as bad as earlier.
Caro checked on an app to see what kind of place we were going to stay at. I was shocked when she said it was a 5-star hotel.
She showed me a picture and it was HUGE. The building looks really nice and modern, I was excited.
When we arrived at the hotel I quickly got out of the car. I looked behind me at the building and it was WAYYYY bigger than the picture. My mouth was hanging open just looking at it. It's my first time getting to stay at a place like this.
I grabbed my luggage and my bag and we started walking into the hotel after bidding goodbye to our driver. I also grabbed my camera and started vlogging.
The interior of the hotel was amazing. There were chandeliers everywhere, there was so much fancy furniture. And there was a mixture of gold and white throughout the building. The place was buzzing with the noise of all the people here.
We checked in at the front desk and they gave us our key card. Our room was on the 35 floors. We walked to the elevator and headed up.
We opened the door to our room and I was even more shocked. It was a two-bedroom with two bathrooms, a big kitchen, and a living room, and the view from the balcony was amazing.
I went to my room and plopped down onto the bed. I was tired and my body still ached. I was even starting to get a headache, so I massaged my temples.
Caro was passing by my room and saw me laying there in pain. She sighed and put her stuff in her room and quickly came back to me. She sat down beside me and looked at me.
I didn't look at her since I was too busy massaging my head, but she was too quiet so I opened my eyes and looked at her.
She had concern written on her face. I could tell she was super worried but she was trying to hide it.
"You know, we should've just stayed back home. Your sick and in pain, we could have rescheduled or something."
I sat up and faced her. "No, as I said earlier, we can miss this opportunity. It's important we be there."
"But why? It's only an interview, it's not as important as your health."
"No, it's pretty important. I can't tell you why, but trust me you wouldn't want to miss it." I laid back down on the bed.
"What do you mean? Surely the interview is not THAT important." She paused, "Anyways, go and drink your meds. I need to go and unpack my things. You should too." She patted me on the thigh and she walked out of my room.
I sat up and drank my meds and I also started unpacking my things.
Tomorrow was an exciting day, I had a gut feeling that something was gonna go wrong. But we'll just have to see what tomorrow holds for us!
