|1 Month later|
Naina sighed and packed Viraj's belongings. He was going to leave tomorrow and Naina was dreading that moment. The past month had been amazing for their little family. Yes their family! Naina, Veer and Viraj had the best times of their lives.
Naina had started working and Veer along with Meera had joined school. Both of them were now in the kindergarten. Their mornings would start with Veer running into their room and jumping on their bed, waking both his parents.
Naina would prepare some breakfast while Viraj helped Veer get ready for school. After dropping off Naina and Veer at their respective destinations Viraj would drive to IMA where he would train cadets.
Then Annie would pick the kids from school. In the evening Naina at about 5pm would go to her house to pick up Veer. The 3 year old had blossomed under their care. He would chatter about his entire day to Naina. She would listen to him patiently.
Then at around 7pm Viraj would come home. Veer as usual shared every tiny detail of his day with Viraj just like he did with Naina. Meanwhile Naina prepared dinner , after which they would sit together at the dining table to eat food.
Later Viraj and Naina read some bed time stories to their son. After which their nights would be filled with theories of passion. They made love until both of them were sated. This had become their routine for the past month. Naina knew Viraj's posting was getting closer but she pushed it away every time it came to prick her.
She stuffed some more warm clothes into the bag and recalled all the amazing moments they had shared with each other in the past month. Viraj sighed as he looked at the gloomy expression on his wife's face.
He walked towards her and held her hands in his. Naina tired to pull them away but failed miserably. She didn't want Viraj to see her crying. "Uhh I'll get the other bags! Let me go!" Naina's voice cracked.
"Naina! Look at me!" Viraj titled her chin with his finger. Naina glanced at him as tears cascaded down her face. She couldn't control her emotions anymore. "I'm sorry! I just can't seem to control them."
Viraj sighed as his own eyes filled with tears. He pulled Naina into his chest. Naina buried her face in his chest and sobbed. She hugged him tightly. "Please, Please be careful! Just don't get hurt. Remember that you have a family. Veer and I waiting for you to get back safely."
Viraj sighed and hummed. He kissed her head and pulled her closer. After a while Naina pulled away and wiped her tears. She titled her head to look at Viraj who was smiling and caressing her hair.
"I will be fine Naina! Stop worrying about me! I'll call you whenever I can okay?" Naina sighed and nodded her head solemnly. Viraj held her face in between his hands and leaned forward placing a long passionate kiss against her lips.
Naina moaned and tugged his hair with her fingers. Their tounges tangled and fought for dominance. "I love you!" Viraj panted against her mouth. Naina smiled, "I love you too!" She pecked his lips and pulled away from him.
"Can you please go check on Veer. He has been cooped up in that room for the past two hours." Viraj kissed her lips once more and nodded his head with a smile. "I'll go see what our boy is up to!" Naina chuckled and folded his clothes.
Viraj walked towards the opposite room and peeped. He found Veer sitting near the table and coloring something with a very serious expression on his face. Viraj smiled softly and knocked the door. Veer whipped his head and glanced at Viraj.
"Daddy! Come!" Veer exclaimed excitedly and made grabby hands. Viraj grinned and walked slowly towards him. "What are you up to Veer?" Veer smiled and shoved the drawing into his hand. "This fo you! I missh you!" Veer pouted.
Viraj stared at the drawing and his eyes turned misty. It was the drawing of the three of them. What was amazing and surprising was the intricate details that Veer had manged to capture so well.
The figure which represented Viraj had an olive green uniform and the national flag in one hand. Next to this figure was Naina's figure and that figure had what looked like a laptop in it's hand. Then next to Naina was Veer figure who had a bag pack. Behind the three of them was a house and a rainbow.
"Veer, what is this buddy?" Viraj asked his son even though he understood the sentiment behind the picture. Veer smiled and climbed on his lap. He leaned his head against Viraj's chest. "This you, this mommy and this mee! This our house!" Viraj chuckled and pulled him closer.
"This picture is amazing buddy! You represented each one of us so well. My boy is smart!" Viraj ruffled his hair and kissed his cheek causing Veer to giggle. "Thank you so much for this! I'll keep this with me forever!" Veer smiled and placed a sloppy kiss on Viraj's cheek.
"So, what are my boys up to?" Naina asked standing at the threshold of the room. Her heart melted after witnessing the entire scene before her. Viraj gestured Naina to come closer. Naina smiled and sat beside Viraj.
"Look what Veer made for me!" Naina carefully took the sheet and stared at the picture. Her heart swelled with love. Veer was indeed very smart. "This is so sweet Veer! The drawing looks so good. I'm so proud of you!" Naina leaned and gave him a big kiss on his cheek.
Veer giggled shyly and buried his head against Viraj's chest. Naina leaned her head against Viraj's shoulder. She wanted to remember this moment forever. Veer and Viraj safe and close to her right where they belong. Viraj smiled and kissed Naina's hair. Veer was content in his arms and was busy mumbling something to himself.
Viraj basked in the moment. He knew he won't be getting such moments in the coming few months. How he wished he could stay like this forever. But, duty comes first. He had to protect his contry no matter what.
"Okay! Come on let's go have lunch! Naina don't worry about it. I'll prepare it." Naina as smiled and nodded her head. "Okay then! Please don't burn the kitchen." Naina shouted as he walked away. Viraj jerked his head and rolled his eyes at his wife. Naina and Veer laughed at him.
"Veer, did you do your homework?" Veer pouted and shook is head no. Lucky for him, it was the weekend else Veer would have thrown a tantrum. "Veer, go complete it! Now!" Naina pointed towards his table. "Come on! I'll help you!" Veer nodded his head enthusiastically. For the next few minutes Naina helped him with the alphabets and Viraj was busy in the kitchen.
"Okay, Naina and Veer lunch is ready!" Naina smiled and helped Veer get down. She held his hand walked towards the dinning table. She sniffed the aroma and immediately her mouth began watering.
"Woah! What did you make?" Veer was jumping on his feet. Viraj smiled at his wife and picked Veer placing him on the chair. "Take a seat, I'll tell you in a minute." Viraj winked at her and went to the kitchen to get the other bowls.
He placed two more bowls on the table. Joining his hands together he looked at his family with a small smile on his face. "So, for starters we have the broccoli soup, then the main course is mushroom rice and finally for dessert we have chocolate mousse." Naina gave him an impressed look.
"Woah! These look amazing! When did you learn how to cook so well?" Naina asked serving herself some soup. Veer made a face but when Viraj feed him he ate it without complaining. "More!" He said and Viraj feed him more with a small smile on his face.
"Well, what can I say wife! I'm a man with many talents!" Viraj winked at Naina who rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah! Not to stroke your ego but damn you can cook!" Viraj chuckled. "Thank you Mrs.Gupta!" Once they were done eating the main course Viraj served both of them the chocolate mousse.
Veer was the most excited to have that. "How did you make all of this so fast?" Viraj shrugged his shoulders. "That's a secret I'll spill only after you're willing to give me whatever I wish for!" Naina rolled her eyes but heat creept through her body. She cleared her throat, "Whatever!" Viraj laughed at his wife.
She got up from the table and washed her plate, after which she went went to the hall and sat on the couch. Veer jumped into the couch and climbed on her lap. Meanwhile Viraj was putting away all the left overs. "Mommy we watch Cars?" Naina groaned and shook her head.
"Veer, baby we have already watched that so many times! How about another movie? It'll be fun!" Veer pouted but nodded his head. Naina played Toy Story, as expected Veer was engrossed in the movie.
Viraj sat beside his wife and both of them smiled whenever Veer would gasp and make cute noises. He really was so precious. Veer was a good boy on most days but he was naughty as well. But the scary part was when he would get nightmares.
Veer still feared that Naina and Viraj would leave him in the orphanage which he often dreamed about. It broke their heart whenever he cried his little heart out. Naina and Viraj would assure him that nothing like that would ever happen. After a few hours when he was sure about that, he would be back to his normal chirpy self.
Some time during the middle of the movie Veer had fallen asleep. Naina brushed his hair and smiled at him. "Give him to me, let me put him in his bed." Naina nodded her head as Viraj picked him up. He carried him towards his room and laid him on his bed.
Naina walked towards Veer and kissed his forehead. She covered him with a duvet. Viraj smiled at the scene before him. Together they went to the hall and sat on the couch. Naina sighed and stared at the clock. Viraj was leaving the very next morning, giving them only a few hours to spend together.
Viraj put his hands over her shoulder. "Hey, don't think about it. We still have time!" Viraj whispered against her hair. Naina sighed nodding her head reluctantly. "So, what do you want to watch?" Naina shook her head and leaned her head against his shoulder.
"So, does that mean I can watch anything I want? Even the match?" Naina chuckled, "Yes! Be my guest! I'll go get my laptop! I have some mails that need to be answered!" Viraj nodded his head absent mindedly already engrossed. "Viraj!" Naina screeched. "Oh yeah fine go ahead! I'll be right here."
Naina laughed and walked to thier bed room to retrieve her laptop. On the way back to the hall she peeped into Veer's bedroom and sighed in relief when she saw him fast asleep. For the next hour Naina was busy with her work while Viraj was watching the match.
Suddenly Veer started crying no wailing in his room. Naina and Viraj sprinted to his room. " Veer! Wake up! It's just a dream baby!" Naina sat next to him while Viraj sat on the other side. Veer finally blinked his eyes open. His face glistened with tears and he had a heart broken expression.
"Mommy, Daddy you leave me!" Viraj shook his head and held him close to his chest. "Of course not buddy! We were right here in the hall! All you had to do was come out of the room!" Veer stopped crying but whimpered every now and then.
"It's okay Veer! We aren't going anywhere!" Veer wiped his eyes with his tiny hands. After some time he crawled towards Naina and buried his face in her chest. Naina sighed and rubbed his back. Naina kissed his head and whispered asking Veer to calm down.
"Shh, it's okay Veer! Mommy and Daddy are right here!" Veer sighed against her chest and fell asleep after a while. Viraj sighed, leaning forward he pulled Naina into his arms and hugged her close. He leaned his back against the headboard. "I hate when this happens!" Viraj sighed nodding his head he kissed Veer's head.
"Viraj you did talk to him about you leaving right?" Viraj nodded his head. "Yes of course! You saw! He even made a drawing for me!" Naina sighed tiredly and leaned her head against his shoulder. "I think you should tell him again. I don't know why he fears so much! We love him so much!"
"Naina it's not going to be easy for him to trust. I'm still scared that you're going to leave me! Not that you will but the fear is forever going to be there Naina. It's not easy to grow up without your loved ones. It's like umm everyday is a battle. I felt like I was battling the whole world alone until I found Arjun and Neel. It was the worst." Naina's face glistened with tears as they fell down her face.
He had never shared this fear with her. Although she did guess something like this was always on his mind. "Hey! I'm not leaving you neither is Veer. We love you! You never have to feel that way again." Naina leaned forward and kissed his lips. "I love you so much!" She whispered against his lips.
Viraj smiled and a stray tear fell from his eye. "I love you more!" He kissed her back. The small family basked in each other's embrace. Veer was snoring lightly against Naina's neck. Naina and Viraj fell asleep. After some time Veer woke up and rubbed his nose with his hands. He glanced at his the two people who made his life so much better.
His tiny heart had so much love for both of them. He stared at Naina his mommy and traced her face with his tiny hand. He did the same with Viraj. "Mommy! Daddy! Get up!" He patted both of them on their cheeks. Naina sighed and blinked her eyes open to find her boy grinning widely at her.
"Hey Veer! Are you okay now?" Veer nodded his head wrapped his arms around her neck and buried his head in her neck. He never liked it when he had bad dreams but his Mommy and Daddy always made it better. "I fine mommy! We plwy! Pewese?" Naina chuckled and nodded her head. Viraj smiled and rubbed Veer's back.
"Sure buddy let's go. What do you want to play?" Veer jumped from Naina's lap to Viraj's. "We plwy foot ball!" Viraj laughed and nodded his head. "Okay buddy! Why don't you get the ball and wear your shoes? I'll come in a few." Veer squeaked, he kissed both his parents on their cheek and ran out of the room.
"Well, I think you should go!" Naina pushed him out of the bed. Viraj laughed and nodded his head. "Yes! Let's go!" Naina smiled and jumped out of the bed. "Naina?" Naina turned her head to face him and raised her brows. "I love you!" Viraj told her with a boyish grin. Naina laughed, "Love you too! Now go!" Naina pushed him out the door.
Naina sat on the porch with her laptop and a cup of coffee. A small smile played on her lips when she saw her boys laughing and playing. They played until it was time for dinner. Naina gulped as she realized there were only a few more hours left for Viraj's departure.
Swallowing her obvious dread she called her boys for dinner. Veer whined but one stern look from Naina he removed his shoes and walked to the washroom to take a quick shower. Viraj chuckled at the scene. Naina crossed her arms across her chest. "What? Why are you laughing?"
Viraj smirked at her and walked closer to her. "I must say this mom look turns me on a lot!" Naina blushed but pressed her lips together. "Yeah Whatever! Please go shower! You stink!" Naina wrinkled her nose. Viraj gave her a playful smirk and yanked her closer.
"How about you join me? It's much more fun that way!" Naina gasped and pushed him away or at least she tried. But Viraj laughed and held her tighter. "Ugh! Let me go! What are you doing? You really stink?" Viraj laughed and buried his face in her neck. "No! I'm making you dirty so that you'll join me in the shower!"
"Stop it! What if Veer comes? Move away Viraj!" Viraj chuckled raspily sending shivers down her body. "I'm going to let you go now! But later you're going to be screaming my name and telling me not to stop!" Naina's face heated and she finally managed to pry herself out of his grip.
Naina gave him a dirty look although her heart was pounding. "Later!" Viraj winked at her and walked away to take a shower. Naina's lips morphed into a shy smile. She shook her head and entered the kitchen. She made some flat bread a.k.a chapati with some potato curry. She heated the mushroom rice that was leftover from their lunch.
Veer tugged her pant trying to catch her attention. Naina smiled and glanced at him. Veer raised his arms asking her to pick him up. She picked him up and placed him on the counter. She placed a big kiss on his cheek causing Veer to giggle. "Ohh Veer is all fresh!" Veer giggled and clapped his hand.
"Okay what do you want to eat Veer? Do you want chapati or rice?" Veer frowned thinking about what he wanted. "Both!" Naina smiled and nodded her head. Viraj joined them after a few minutes. The three of them had dinner together and laughter filled their house.
After dinner Naina and Viraj read a bed time story to their son and tucked him in his bed. Naina entered their bedroom and went to the washroom before Viraj could see her. She couldn't control her emotions anymore. She switched on the tap and sobbed loudly.
She was trying to be strong but at that very second she couldn't help but feel vulnerable. What if something happens to Viraj? Or what if he get's injured? All those crazy thoughts were driving her insane!
Viraj frowned when his wife didn't come out. It had been almost 30 minutes. She had never taken this long. He walked and knocked on the bathroom door with hesitation. "Hey! Naina! Are you okay?" All he could hear was the sound of the tap running.
Naina wiped her face and splashed some water to clear her tears. She turned off the tap. "Yeah I'm okay! I'll be out in a minute." She croaked causing Viraj to frown once again. "Alright!" He walked away and sat on their bed.
Naina glanced at her reflection in the mirror. She groaned and wiped her face again. Her eyes were red and she appeared sad. "Oh god he will definately notice." She racked her brain and thought of a good reason.
She took a deep breath and opened the door after brushing her teeth. Viraj looked up from his phone and frowned when he noticed her gloomy face. Naina dumped the dirty clothes into the laundry basket and walked to her side of the bed.
She smiled at Viraj trying to act normal. "What's wrong? Why are you faking that beautiful smile?" Naina rolled her eyes and scrolled through her phone. "I'm not faking anything! And nothing is wrong! So chill!"
Viraj let out a frustrated breath. "Don't lie Naina!!!" Naina threw her hands in the air. "I'm not lying!!!" She went back to scrolling through her phone. Viraj was irritated, he snatched the phone away from her and glared at her.
"Give me my phone!" Viraj shook his head and placed it on his bedside table. "Fine! Keep it! I'm going to bed!" Naina turned her head to the other side and pulled the duvet over her head. Viraj clicked his tongue and muttered "Stubborn woman!" Under his breath.
He wasn't going to let this go. He hovered over her, placing both his hands on either side of her head and pulled the blanket from her face. Naina glared at him. "Why are your eyes red?"
"It's because of the lens that's all!" Viraj raised his brows. "Really?" Naina tried to push him but he wouldn't budge. "Yes! It is because of that! Can we sleep now! You have an early flight to catch."
Viraj sighed he leaned forward and placed a long kiss on her forehead. Naina sighed and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Now tell me the truth." She closed her eyes as tears fell from them.
Viraj wiped it with his calloused fingers. "I'm scared! Not that I wasn't before, but this time you'll be going away for a very long time and that's scaring me a lot. I know I know it's normal when your husband is a soldier but still. Does that make me weak?"
Viraj took a deep breath. "Of course not!" He ran his fingertips against her cheek. "I know this isn't our first time being apart but it's our first time as husband and wife and it's for a longer duration. I know it's going to be hard but there's one thing that I can tell you. Always remember that I will come back and also that I love you so much. I'm doing this to protect our people and oir country. Just remember that. I can't assure about every aspect but I will fight till the very end to come home back to you and Veer."
Naina's eyes glistened with tears and her chest swelled with pride. He was right! She can't be selfish. He's doing this to protect their country and their people. She has to be his pillar. Sure there can be casualties but she cannot think about her fears all the time.
"I love you and I'm so proud of who you are. I'll be more strong from now on. I swear!" Viraj shook his head and kissed her lips. " Naina you're already so strong. You just needed a perspective that's all."

Naina smiled and pulled him closer. She sucked his bottom lip and pushed her tongue into his mouth. Viraj moaned against her mouth. Their tounges tangled and fought for dominance. Thier mouths moved aginst each other with perfect synchronisation.
Viraj pulled away and sucked on her neck. Naina moaned and tangled her fingers in his hair. One by one they removed the barriers between their bodies. Viraj fondled her breasts and gasped when Naina pumped him with her hand.
She had become bolder. Naina ripped the packet with her teeth and rolled the condom over his length. Viraj moaned and slammed into her. Naina arched her back and moaned out his name.
Their bodies moved against each other with at most precision. Viraj placed forehead against her's and kissed her lips. Naina sighed and tangled her fingers in his hair. "Come for me Naina!" Viraj whispered huskily. Naina's body shook as she reached her climax. Viraj came a few seconds later. Naina sighed and wiped the perspiration from her forehead.
She felt sated and complete just like every other time. After catching his breath Viraj pulled away and dumped the condom in a trash can. Naina went to the washroom and cleaned herself. She put her underwear and wore one of his T-shirts.
With a tired sigh she laid on the bed and fell asleep. As usual Viraj woke her up a few more times during the night. They couldn't get enough of each other. They made love till the early hours of morning.

|At the Airport|
Viraj was in his uniform and Naina sat there nervously tapping her feet. Arjun and Neel were also leaving today. For the first time in the past few years the three of them had been posted in different parts of the country.
Viraj had gone to the nearby coffee shop to buy some coffee. Another hour and they would be boarding the flight. Veer was awfully quite. The other couples were scattered a few metres away from them.
"Veer? What's wrong buddy?" Veer shook his head and pouted sadly. "Are you sad because Viraj is leaving?" Veer bowed and nodded his head sadly. Naina brushed his hair and pulled him on her lap.
"Hey he'll be back soon! You know what Daddy does right?" Veer nodded his head enthusiastically and his face brightened. "Yesh! I know! He protect peoples!"
Naina laughed and nodded her head. "That's right smart boy! If you're so sad daddy won't feel good! So why don't we smile and send him? He'll feel better if we are happy!" Veer frowned thinking about what Naina had just said. A few seconds later he nodded his head and a smile morphed his face.
"Otay! I'll not be sadh!" Naina kissed his cheek. "Good boy!" Viraj came back with two cups in his hand and found the most beautiful sight before him. His wife and his son talking and giggling away.
"Hello there people! Naina here's your coffee and Veer here's your milk!" Naina smiled and thanked him. Veer held it in his hand carefully and sipped on it. As time passed Naina's anxiety skyrocketed but she didn't let it affect her demeanour.
They announced that boarding had begun for Viraj's flight. Viraj sighed and stood up. Naina placed Veer on his feet. Viraj kneeled in front of Veer and hugged him. "Be a good boy Veer! Don't trouble your mother! Do your homework and no fighting! I love you!"
Veer nodded his head and hugged his father. "Love you too! Mish you!" Viraj kissed his forehead and ruffled his hair. Naina took a deep breath as he stared deeply into her eyes. "Bye Naina! Take care of yourself and please eat on time. Don't stress over your job too much. I love you!" Naina's eyes glistened with tears.
She hugged him tightly and buried her face in his chest. "I love you so much Viraj. Please be safe and call me whenever you can. And no goodbye always see you later!" Viraj chuckled as his eyes turned misty. He kissed Naina's lips and nodded his head. "As you say ma'am. I'll see you later! I'll call you when I can. I promise to be safe! Take care!"
With that he kissed her forehead and slung his bag over his shoulder. Naina stood there with Veer in her arms. Tears streaked from Viraj's eyes. He didn't look back because he knew it would make it even more harder for him.
Naina sighed and tears fell from her eyes. This journey wasn't an easy one but she was ready to face each and every challenge that will be placed before her, because that is the only way to live and that's what she was doing living her life no matter what life throws at her.
At the end of the day she was immensely proud of Viraj and his dedication towards their country. She doesn't regret anything. She closed her eyes and prayed to the almighty to keep her husband safe.
