I took Jenna to the other room. She truly was a sweet girl. I handed her some books and assured her that her Dad would be safe even though I knew it was a straight-out lie. There was really nothing else that I could do. Life was harsh and an innocent girl like Jenna was just caught up in the middle of this.

I walked back to the room to find Charlie threatening  Veer for the hundredth time. Usually, such things don't bother me but the sheer determination in his eyes and the way he warned him was starting to freak me out. I wanted to bang his head against the table once again but I refrained from doing so.

"Fine. let's start again! Tell me what you know about Adam and Jeffery? Why are you so important to them?" Veer screamed and Charlie just sneered back. "Just tell me, you bastard! If you don't start talking now then we are going to have more problems and I can't guarantee what will happen with you daughter!" 

Veer shouted again, Charlie looked like he was going to lunge at Veer anytime. We would never hurt Jenna but this asshole seems to be a stubborn one. "I think it's better if you give them all the information! Your daughter is in their clutches!" Jagan added and I nodded.

"Listen to your friend Charlie!" He sneered at him and his nose flared as he tried to control his temper. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes momentarily. "Fine, I will tell you everything! But, I am going to give you a fair warning and that is to stay away from my daughter. If I even get an ounce of doubt that you blabbered anything bad about me to her I will personally ruin all of you not that I am going spare any of you now but I am just warning you!"

Veer closed his eyes and pinched his nose. This guy is a piece of tool! He keeps beating around the bush. I decided to step in. I grabbed his shirt and glared at him while the asshole had the audacity to look me in the eyes and smirk at me. "Quit stalling and tell us whatever the hell that is you know, right this very moment! Else I will be the first one to walk out of this room and tell your precious daughter the truth! Oh, I have a better idea! Why don't I record this entire thing and show it to her?"

He glared at me, "Fine, what is that you want to know?" He gritted out as if he was forced to swallow acid. I moved back and gestured at Veer to take over who nodded. I am so mad at him but that is for another time. "What is the date that you were talking about? I want to know now!" 

Charlie took a deep breath, "May 17th exactly two weeks from now Jeffery has ordered us to plant the bombs at different locations with the help of some sleeper cells. That's not all. In a week there will be a shipment that will be arriving from some other countries! They are Illegal weapons!" The last part wasn't surprising at all. Veer and Karan had retrieved some paperwork from one of Jagan's offices that had the details about these weapons.

"The last one we already knew! Tell me when is Jeffery coming here? How many places are going to get bombed?" Jagan and Charlie exchanged some looks like they didn't want to tell, but they had to spit it out, tough luck. "Well he was supposed to be there for the club opening but since you guys infiltrated the entire place I am sure he has gone into hiding. But he will definitely be in the city."

I could vaguely make out Officer Khan asking some of them to start searching for Jeffery. "You still didn't answer the other question! How many places are going to get bombed?" Charlie hesitated but I showed him my phone warning him about his daughter again. He sighed and glared at both of us. 

"Fukcing hell! You still don't seem to have an idea as to who I am! I am not a fucking ordinary terrorist you bastards! I am the brother of Adam! Do you hear me? ADAM IS MY OLDER BROTHER! Once I am out of here you and the rest of your team better watch your backs cause I am going to fucking murder all of you." I sucked in a breath, Veer looked stunned for a second but he covered it up as soon as it showed up. 

What the fuck? He was Adam's as in currently Colt Malik's brother? "Come again asshole? What did you say?" Veer asked with an eerily calm voice. Jagan cursed under his breath and shook his head. I could see from the periphery that Officer Khan was stunned as well and so were the other team members. This was definitely a shocker. Something was definitely not right if we are getting this information only now. 

His tracks had to be covered very well. Well, that explains a lot of things. Looks like the big brother was doing all the good work and keeping up his big brother facade while the younger one was definitely doing all the wrong things but they were kept under the wraps. Genius and a full-proof plan.

"What the fuck is wrong with you Charlie? They didn't even ask you about Adam let alone Colt! He was so careful and he trusted you! You fucking broke his trust and betrayed him!" Jagan shouted and thrashed on his chair. He kept on blabbing about how stupid Charlie was. I had to agree there. Anger sure does make people spill out some secrets. 

Veer smirked and Charlie bowed his head. Regret was very evident in his eyes and face. This was definitely a win for us. We were more focused on capturing Jeffrey but instead, we have more information about Adam which is a win-win for us. "I did not say anything about Adam Charlie! That is very interesting! We will jump more into that but for now, you still didn't answer my previous question! How many places are going to get bombed?" 

Charlie didn't answer and Veer slapped, fisted his collar, and asked him the question once again. "Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Bangalore. These are the five cities that are going to get bombed. The locations aren't decided yet! The bomb will be activated or more like controlled from one of the places and the blast will take place everywhere simultaneously. This is to show everyone that we hold all the power and they should fear us."

Charlie narrated and Veer was already fuming with anger. We have no idea as to where the main one is planted and I think now that Charlie is captured they might change the plan. Jagan screamed and trashed more. "You are a fucking traitor! My nephew died rather than ratting out the entire thing! You deserve to die! You fucking asshole!" I couldn't take it anymore. He was being such a big nuisance.

I glanced at Officer Khan who gestured at me to silence him. I nodded and walked to the corner table to retrieve a tranquilizer. I grabbed the injection, walked back to him, and injected him with it. He shut his mouth the very next second and fell unconscious. Good fucking riddance. Although killing him would have been much better. 

"Now that your best friend is silenced. Shall we continue our discussion?" Veer asked sarcastically. I was losing my patience. These assholes have been shadowed for the past few years and have been doing gruesome things. "Let's get to the point! Is Adam working with Jeffrey? A simple yes or no would do Charlie! Else I can always go tell Jenna what a true hero her Daddy is!" I screamed.

Charlie bared his teeth at me. "Oh, I always like feisty girls like you foxy! It's a shame that you are an Officer else we could have had so much fun!" He smirked and glanced at Veer as if he were waiting for a reaction. As expected Veer was shaking with anger and his fists were clenched tightly. The nerve of this man. I was about to threaten him with his daughter again just to remind him as to who has the upper hand.

Before that Veer punched him so hard that his head jerked and his nose began bleeding. He held his collar and yanked him forward. "Stay in your fucking limits! Now tell us if Adam as in Colt is part of the plan or not?" Instead of cowering with fear Charlie threw his head back and laughed loudly. His nose and mouth were bleeding, his lips were busted and he had a huge gash on his face but he didn't even look scared. 

"Tough luck Veer Gupta! I am not telling you anything about my brother even if you threaten me with my daughter. You weren't even supposed to know about this relationship but remember one thing he will get me out of here and when that happens you better stay alert! I WILL RUIN YOU!"

Veer growled and was about to hit him again when Officer Khan asked him to not do that. "Veer he is only instigating you! Let him be for now! Adam is not our goal, right now we have bigger things to deal with. That's enough both of you come out. Well done!" We nodded and I injected Charlie before he could say something that would anger Veer more than he already was.

My brain was reeling with everything that had just happened. Adam and  Charlie were related. Some bombs are being made to be planted in five major cities. Once we made sure that both of them were knocked out for good and locked the door we were asked to gather at the meeting room in a few minutes. Veer grabbed my arm and pulled me towards his chest. I closed my eyes and breathed through my nose I wasn't ready for this. The more I helped him the more he tried to push me away and I shall not be treated this way.

I twisted my arms and tried to free my hands but he hands a tight grip. "What are you doing? Let me go Veer! I thought you made it clear that you didn't want anything to do with me a few hours ago! Let me go Veer! Don't make a scene here! I swear to god!" I elbowed his stomach but he didn't even budge. Fucking hell!

Instead, he pulled me closer until our bodies were close. Thank god most of them were in the meeting room else this would have been the talk of the day. Shivers ran down my spine when I felt his breath fan over my ear. I snapped out of it when I remembered how he had shouted at me to stay away from him. I will never forgive him for that until he says those words and gives me a valid reason.

"Meera listen I didn't mean for that to happen! I didn't mean to shout at you! It's just that some things are going on and I don't know how to tell you!" He muttered and I frowned tilting my head slightly. I know that he has a lot of things going on but the way he's been acting since the day I joined TIIS is not acceptable.

All those words that he blurted out that day! Everything is a fucking mess! He better tells me the entire thing or leaves me the fuck alone. "Veer it's always about you and your problems! I was only helping you last night despite being mad at you for the things that you threw on my face the other day! Do you think this is a fucking joke? I don't have the time or the patience for this! We'll talk later when I have the mood and when you decide to get your head out of your ass and tell me what the fuck is your actual problem? Okay? Right now we need to go!"

I gritted and freed myself. I could see him raking his fingers through his hair and mumbling something under his breath. I wanted to hug him and tell him that I'm there for him but not until he tells me what exactly was bothering him. The memory of him and I kissing, talking, laughing, and recalling old times flashed in my mind as I sat next to Kabir in the meeting room.

My heart pained when I remembered how he was quivering and shaking last night. He was continuously calling out for me and I did my best to comfort him but alas the only thing that I get from Veer Gupta is his cold treatment.

It had probably only been a few days since we had officially declared our relationship but it felt like that had happened an era ago. I shouldn't have given into this relationship until he told me why he had treated me the way he had. He should have told me about his past. Instead, I gave in, I was willing to give him time and trust but in the end, the only thing that I get in return is my heartbroken. Kabir cleared his throat and raised his brows.

"What's wrong? Are you okay?" I smiled forcefully and shook my head. "I'm fine! Where's Officer Khan?" Kabir narrowed his eyes at me but didn't argue or pry anything else.

"He's talking to the analysts to dig up more information on Jeffrey and of course Adam now Colt whoever the hell he is!" I cleared my throat and nodded. "That's great! I can't wait to catch these bastards and be done with them. This is driving me insane!" I muttered the last part. Veer entered and our eyes locked. His eyes had so many emotions running through them and appeared as if he were going through some internal conflict.

I wish things were much simpler. But, with Veer Gupta, every day is a field day and you can never expect it to be the same. Kabir cleared his throat and I snapped out of my trance. "What?" I turned to him and raised my brows. "I feel like the two of you are undressing each other with your eyes and I had to interrupt you both because of how inappropriate that is to do! Especially in our workplace!" He exclaimed and I stared at him with a stunned expression.

What the fuck? Did he actually say that? "W-what nonsense Kabir! Don't talk bullshit! Nothing is going on between the two of us! Even if there was I don't see how any of this is your freaking business!" I whisper yelled and tried not to look at Veer who was now having a heated argument with Karan who looked like he was ready to strangle Veer. Honestly at this point even I feel the same way! Why can't he just tell me? I'm so exhausted!

"Yeah, whatever! If you say so Meera!" Kabir sang, I sneered at him and punched his arm. He hissed and swatted my hands away. I was about to argue further but Officer Khan entered the room and handed us some paperwork. Veer and he discussed something then Officer Khan began speaking. Lucky for me Suraj was seated a bit far away and I was happy with that arrangement.

"Well, it looks like Charlie didn't lie about him being related to Adam now known as Colt. We do have proofs but they are still very minimal. One thing is for sure and Adam used Charlie to do all his dirty work while he maintained the reputation of a good businessman. Keeping up the company in Dubai, traveling around the world, and expanding his business. He has definitely made it harder for us to catch him but it's not impossible since now we have Charlie under our custody." That makes sense, everyone nodded as Officer Khan continued telling us about what will be our next move.

"We will not be focusing on catching him because we will be luring him into our trap. The plan is simple." Officer Khan placed both his palms on the table and glanced at each one of us. I listened to what he had to say with rapt attention.

"The key is to find Jeffrey! If we catch that bastard then the foundation of the entire organization crumbles. We need to find him soon so that we can get the location of where this main bomb is placed. Veer guessed that it could be Delhi since that's the capital of our country." We nodded as he continued talking.

"We can't let any of the civilians get hurt. The eight of you have been chosen specially for this mission don't let me down. The first thing on the list find Jeffery and capture him. Once we do that Adam a.k.a Colt will have to come here. He's definitely doing this for bigger purposes. Maybe it has something to do with dominating the businesses in our country to gain more power over our economy. It only a theory but if Jeffrey confirms it then our country might be in grave danger. These bomb blasts are obviously important.  Not to forget they are taking place in some of the most important cities in our country. So, getting Jeffery under our custody and stopping those bomb blasts will make Adam come here and that's game over for him. Veer will give you further instructions and I will guide you, officers, through every step. Veer take over."

That did seem like a solid plan but I can name several things that could go wrong. Everyone turned to Veer. His face was blank and he had a stoic expression that meant only business and nothing else. "As Sir told us the plan is simple but we need to be alert at every step. One mistake and everything might crumble!" He snapped his finger stressing on one mistake. He was right though.

"As of now, the intel team is working on where exactly Jeffrey could be. That one is a very clever man but not that much. We have only a few days and we need to catch him before that. One of our best hackers is working on finding his location. The moment we locate him we're going and getting him. It's not going to be easy but when has ever anything been easy for us. Jeffery is the key to stop this!" We nodded and for the next hour hatched up a bunch of plans.

"That sounds good. I'll make sure that the backup team is at your beck and call at all times. All you are dismissed for now. Be ready you might have to leave the moment the intel team gives is the green signal. Jai Hind!" He saluted and we did the same.

I think I was going to need a nap for this. I really can't take it anymore. I pushed the glass door open and exited the room. There was still some time until they found Jeffrey. I needed food and some time away from Veer plus a good nap wouldn't hurt. "Hey!" Karan greeted me and walked beside me. I stopped in my tracks and crossed my arms across my chest.

"Hi, Karan! How can I help you?" He fiddled with his fingers nervously. I glanced discreetly behind him to find Veer who was standing there casually and scrolling through his phone. Oh, what a coincidence? I rolled my eyes and internally cheered for Veer's acting. He's the one who had sent Karan here so much for all the acting.

"Meera I know what Veer did was unacceptable so he wants to take you to lunch. So, will you go with him?" I shook my head firmly and glared at him. He was there when he saw how Veer kicked me out of the room. How could he possibly ask me to go with him now?

"Nope, I'm not going anywhere with Veer Gupta until he apologies!" Karan rolled his eyes and groaned. He threw his head back and scrubbed his face. "Meera, please come on! I'm sure this is an apology lunch?" I rolled my eyes again and looked at Veer who was now frowning.

I raised a brow and asked him. "He said it's an apology lunch?" Karan spluttered trying to come up with a reason. I rolled my eyes. I'm not at all surprised. Of course, he didn't say that. Veer Gupta was too great to ask for an apology. Whatever I don't care. I'm not in a mood to handle him.

"Yeah, I don't think he said that right? In that case, I'm out of here!" Karan groaned and cursed under his breath. "Meera come on! He can be a stubborn ass! Hell, both of you are! One of you has to bow down! Don't pull me into this mess!" He exclaimed with a stern voice.

I shook my head. "I'm out of here! Both of you figure it out! I'm done playing the middle man!" Karan screamed threw his hands in the air and walked away. I sighed and shook my head. Veer now had a stressed look on his face. He strides towards me and for the first time today he looked really beaten down.

His face was no more blank or stoic instead it almost appeared as if all his emotions were running free. I hate to use this word but he did look defeated. "Meera, please could come to lunch with me! I need to talk to you and I do owe an apology after all." My heart pained, a few minutes back he was the one leading the meeting and making all the plans. He has really been bottling up a lot of his emotions.

I bit my lip and contemplated his offer. The last time I gave in things bought us here but yet again my heart won. I wanted to hear what he had to say. "Fine, let's go!" I muttered and Veer's lip lifted lightly. He nodded and gestured me to follow him. He drove us to a restaurant. The entire ride I could feel Veer glancing at me from time to time.

He parked the car in the parking lot of a very famous Thai restaurant. Not a bad choice at all. Thai food was always comforting. He had already booked a table so we sat down. We both scanned the area. Technically there wasn't any danger but it was a force of habit. Who knows someone might be following us, right?

"Meera, I'm sorry okay?" Veer muttered slowly and glanced at his menu. He apologized. I sighed and pretend as if I was going through the menu. I glanced at him discreetly to find him waiting for me to respond. I was about to fire away from the string of questions that have been eating me away since his eighteenth birthday but fuck, only if I was that lucky.

"Well, well who do we have here? If it isn't for the great Meera Raichand?" A voice boomed and my eyes widened when I found Vishal staring at me more like smirking at me. He glanced at Veer and raised his brows.

I noticed a woman in a saree was holding his arm. She had a nuptial chain. Shit! It's his wife. Veer looked at both of us and glared at Vishal, shamelessly running his eyes down my body. What the fuck? The nerve of this man to do this when he was married! His wife was standing right next to him!

"Meera! Who the hell is he?" Veer asked with a deathly voice and Vishal was now smirking. I glared at him. Fuck! I forgot my gun! I wish I had it with me right now. Could have just shot him. Can't I have one normal Lunch? Veer and I were finally about to get somewhere but this asshole had to show up.

A/N: Sorry for the late update guys! I got my first shot of vaccination a few days back so I was a bit tired. After that, I kind of hit a minor writer's block. I knew what to write but I couldn't phrase it. So, I struggled for a couple of days.
