Meera took a deep breath standing next to Veer. She avoided his gaze and the grin on his face and glanced at the sky. Meera fisted her hands placing them on the ledge. Veer could feel the nervous energy radiating off her. He gulped, even he was really nervous but he was really good at concealing them.

Taking a deep breath he placed one of his hands over Meera's, who glanced at him with a curious expression. "Have you figured out what we are Veer?" Veer turned away from her gaze and stared at the sky which had beautiful stars.

"Maybe! Before I tell you what I think! I want to know what exactly you think is between us!" Meera sighed shaking her head. She wanted to clap her hands and take a bow. Always the pushy one. "No, I want to know what you think first! Since you're the first one to raise the question!"

Veer cursed under his breath that sounded something like "Stubborn woman!" Meera raised her brows crossing her arms across her chest. "Fine! I'll tell you! I'm don't know how to convey this but um I definitely want us to give whatever that is between us a try!" Veer said waving his hands between them.

Meera bit her lips trying to control her laugh. "What is that supposed to mean? What is um between us?" Meera imitated his actions and asked him all the while smirking at him. Veer groaned and ran his fingers through his hair. He let out a frustrated breath. He slammed his hands against the ledge.

"Meera! Must you be so irritating and incredibly annoying? I'm losing my mind here! I want you okay? Even though I think it's dangerous and crazy! Coming here after so many years and spending time with you after all these years made me realize how much I actually missed you!" Veer finally poured out all his emotions.

He turned to look at Meera who had a stunned expression on her face. He took a step closer and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. "I miss my best friend! More than that, I don't want us to be just friends! Are you understanding what I'm trying to say?" Veer rasped and Meera's heartbeat raced up a notch.

"W-what? Are you serious?" She couldn't believe what she had heard. She had imagined this scenario a million times in her head and always had a witty comeback but today she didn't have anything. Hell, she could barely breathe!

Veer chuckled against her face and nodded his head. "I'm very serious Meera Raichand! I can't stop thinking about you! You have managed to break all the barriers between us!" Saying so he placed a long kiss on her forehead. Meera wetted her lips and sighed. She clenched her hand on his T-shirt and pulled him closer.

Veer pulled away enough to look at her face. A few tears fell from her eyes. Veer frowned and looked at her with concern in his eyes. "This is not some sort of joke, right? You won't back away this time right?" A few more tears cascaded down her face.

Veer's heart fell when he noticed the vulnerable look on her face. He sighed while wiping the tears with the pad of his calloused thumb. "I'm not joking Meera and I'm not going to back away until you tell me to! I swear I'm in it for the long haul!" Meera sobbed and buried her face in his neck and tightened the grip on his T-shirt.

Never in a million years did she think the outcome of today would turn out this way. She thought they would tiptoe around each other for a few more days before actually committing. Veer ran her fingers through her hair and kissed the top of her head. He pulled her closer and breathed in her lavender scent. He had missed her so damn much.

"Shh, stop crying! I thought Meera Raichand was a very strong woman!" He tried to lighten the mood. Meera sniffled pulling away. She narrowed her eyes at him and pushed him. "You don't get to tell me how I should feel! You have no fucking idea how it was all these years. I'm just begin really nice by letting you in so easily! I should make you suffer for all the things that you put me through in all these seven years!!! Fucking Bullshit!"

Meera's eyes blazed with anger and she kept shouting and cussing at Veer, pouring out everything that she had subsided for the past seven years. Veer knew it wasn't appropriate to think this way but he couldn't help but think as to how hot she looked right now. All he wanted to do was slam her against the wall the kiss the hell out of her.

He knew he did a lot of things in the past that he regrets. He still doesn't know how dangerous it might be for Meera to be in a relationship with him. But, for now, he wanted her and he was done pushing her away. Taking a deep breath he muttered a "Fuck It!"

He yanked Meera towards his chest and Meera gasped when she noticed the intense look in his eyes. His eyes were hooded. Without giving her a warning he slammed her lips against hers. He growled when he felt her soft lips against his. Meera's eyes widened for a moment, then she closed her eyes, wrapped her arms around his neck, and pulled him closer.

She moved her lips hesitantly against his and Veer's chest vibrated with a growl. Veer sucked her upper lip and tugged on her bottom lip asking for permission. Meera's heart slammed against her chest. She felt breathless. She wanted more, she wanted all of him.

Sighing she opened her mouth and their tounges tangled against each other. They moved their mouths in a synchronized manner. Meera moaned as she tasted mint and smoke. Their chests were pressed against each other. Meera was the first one to pull away. She leaned her head against his and ran her fingers across his stubble.

Their breaths mingled as they tried to catch their breath. "If this is um your way of asking me to shut up then you can do it any time!" Meera stated, trying to catch her breath. Veer's chest rumbled as he laughed. Meera grinned at him.

"Good to know! Now that I have your permission I'll use it to my best extent!" Meera laughed shaking her head she pecked his lips one last time. Veer smiled against her lips. He held her face in between his hands and placed a kiss on her forehead.

"That was definitely worth the wait! Also, this was so much better than our first kiss!" Meera pulled away from him and gave him a questioning look. She let out a chuckle and shook her head. "What are you talking about? This was our first kiss! I mean I have kissed you on the cheek and forehead before but this is definitely the first time we kissed on the lips!"

Veer chuckled and he had a playful glint in his eyes. He pulled Meera towards the swing that was situated in the corner of the room. They sat down together and Veer pushed the swing slowly with his legs. "I thought I asked you something! What do you mean by this kiss was better than our first one?"

"Patience Miss Meera patience! You remember when we were thirteen and you wanted to have this sleepover with some girls? You were so adamant about making sure that I wasn't a part of it because the previous month I hadn't taken you to a sleepover? Does any of this ring a bell?"

Meera frowned but nodded her head. "Yes I do remember but what does this have to do with us sharing our first kiss?" Veer chuckled shaking his head and Meera glared at him. She liked seeing him this relaxed but she didn't like it that he was teasing her.

"Well, do you remember that you played truth or dare with your friends? Just like we did today?" Meera's eyes widened as images of what had happened flashed before her eyes. She had purposefully buried that memory deep in her mind she didn't want to remember that particular incident because of how embarrassing it was.

Veer laughed at her as Meera kept shaking her head and muttering no over and over again. He knew this was embarrassing for her but just to get the kick of it he began reciting the entire incident. Meera groaned and buried her face in her hands as everything that had happened that day and a few days before that flashed in her mind.

|Flashback|

Thirteen-year-old Meera stood in the living room with a scowl on her face. Meera's mother Annie too stood in front of her daughter and threw an equally scary glare at her daughter. Arjun signed and ran his fingers through his hair.

Both of them were breathing hard because of all the arguing. "Meera, I don't want you to go for a sleepover and that's final! I can't let you go! It just isn't safe!" Arjun sighed shaking his head, Andy sat next to him with his head tilted and stared at the entire scene with a curious expression on his face.

Meera and Annie had been arguing about the sleepover for over half an hour now. "Mom!!! Everyone's going! I'm not going to a party behind your back I'm just going to a sleepover and I am informing you about it beforehand! Even Veer went! This is completely unfair!!!"

Annie was about to shout at her again when Arjun interrupted. He stood between both of them and wrapped each of his arms around their shoulders. "Okay, that's enough! Annie, I don't see what's the problem if she goes for this sleepover! It only for one night!" Meera scoffed giving her mother a victorious smile.

Annie glared at Arjun and shook her head. "I just can't let her go Arjun! She's still so young!" Meera scowled letting out an exaggerated breath. "Mom! I'm thirteen, not three! I can take care of myself!" Annie glared at her and shook her head.

"No! You're still very young! Maybe when you turn sixteen we'll revisit this topic and have a discussion! That's it done case closed!" Annie shouted and once again they began arguing.

"That's it time out! Both of you go sit on the couch!" Arjun commanded. Annie and Meera whined and stomped their feet together but did as Arjun told them to do. Andy looked at his mother and older sister and giggled. Arjun couldn't help but laugh lightly at their antics. They both were so similar. Nobody would ever guess that Meera was their adopted daughter. She was their daughter by all means.

"I have a simple solution for this. Meera how about we host a sleepover and you call your friends here? That way your Mom won't have to worry and you can have fun as well! Is that okay for you? What do you say, Annie?" He asked them and waited for an answer.

Meera and Annie furrowed their brows thinking about it. "Okay! Sounds good!" Arjun laughed when both of them replied together. He shook his head and sat in between them. Andy too cheered when he realized that everyone was happy.

"Well, as long as both my girls are happy I'm happy!" Annie laughed and Meera rolled her eyes but gave him a grin. Andy too jumped in between them. "Me! Me! Hug me!" Meera laughed and hugged him. They shared a family hug.

|The day of sleepover|

Meera had invited about five of her close friends. On the same day, Veer had come home because his mother had some work so she had requested Annie to take care of him and Tanya. Annie obliged happily. Meera did not like that he was here but her friends seemed to be smitten by him.

She even argued with her mother but one stern look and a warning from her was enough for her to not complain. Veer who had heard the entire conversion pouted. "Meera! Why don't you want me here? I'm your best friend!"

Meera gave him an angry look. "You went to a sleepover without me! It's only fair that I get one without you!" Veer rolled his eyes and ran his fingers through his hair. "Meera I would have taken you but it was an only boy's sleepover! That's why I didn't take you!"

Meera frowned contemplating the answer for a few minutes, after which she scoffed and crossed her arms on her chest. "Well, then this is only girl's sleepover! You can't join Veer I'm sorry!" Veer glared at her but nodded his head. "Fine! Whatever!" The both of them scoffed at each other and walked away in opposite directions.

Veer went to the backyard to play with Tanya and Andy while Meera went towards her room where her friends were already waiting for her. She bought them some snacks while they watched a movie.

They giggled, admired boys and spoke about them, and even cracked some jokes. When they were bored Rita one of her friends suggested that they play truth or dare. Meera was hesitant in the beginning, but she agreed when the rest of them were on board and also because she wanted to be a cool host.

They sat down in a circle and spun the bottle. The person to whom the bottle points to has to pick either a truth or dare. Meera spun the bottle, it stopped pointing at Rita. Everyone squealed. "Truth or dare Rita?" Meera asked her with an excited voice.

"Umm truth!" Everyone booed but Rita wasn't willing to change. "Okay, then who do you have a crush on? You have to name a boy from our grade, not a celebrity!" Meera elaborated and everyone giggled nodding their heads waiting for her to answer.

Rita blushed twirling her hair around her finger. "Umm, you guys shouldn't tell anyone or make fun of me okay?" They all nodded their heads. "Yes, we have a pact! What happens today stays a secret!" Shelly another friend stated and everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

"Meera I hope you don't feel bad but I really like your best friend Veer!" Everyone awed and squealed while Meera frowned at her. She didn't like this but gave her a strained smile and nodded her head. "Ohh okay! That's fine! That's so cute Rita!" She gritted out but hid her resentment smiling at her.

"I like him too! Who wouldn't? He's the cutest and the most good-looking guy in our entire grade!" Tina another friend added with a dreamy look on her face. Meera rolled her eyes and controlled her glare. She knew that Veer was popular but didn't know that he had such a huge female population fawning over him.

She interrupted when everyone began talking about Veer. She couldn't help but feel jealous. "Shall we continue the game guys?" She shouted and that was the end of their stupid discussion. She spun the bottle and this time it stopped in front of her. The girls clapped. "Truth or dare Meera?" Meera was never afraid of challenges so she chose dare. All the girls cheered.

" You've got courage girl!!! Okay, your dare is to kiss Veer on his lips! Just one peck! I don't think that's hard for you!" Tina challenged her with a smirk and everyone stared at Tina with a shocked expression.

Meera glared at her but nodded her head. "Fine! I'll do it!" Tina smiled and nodded her head. "We'll be right behind you! Go on!" Meera stood up, sprinted down the stairs, and went towards the backyard where Veer was still playing with Tanya and Andy. Lucky for them Annie and Arjun were on the terrace setting the garden and watering all the plants.

Meera halted when she saw Veer laughing and running around. "Go on! You don't want to be called a coward right?" Tina instigated her and Meera glared at her and walked towards Veer. She tapped on his shoulders to catch his attention. Veer turned to face her and raised his brows.

Her friends were looking at them with curiosity. "Veer this is a dare! Hope you don't mind it!" Veer frowned and was about to ask her what it was but before that Meera placed her lips over his and Veer's eyes widened. She pulled away exactly after three seconds and ran away.

Veer stood there stunned wondering what exactly had happened. That was when both of them realized that they had a crush on each other. Meera ran away and all her friends cheered at her. Giggling the girls ran away to her room.

|Flashback ends|

Veer laughed and Meera punched his arm. "I can't believe you forgot about it! It's one of my favorite memory! Even though that kiss was very sloppy it was a sweet one! You were my first kiss and I was yours!" Meera groaned and held her hands.

"Yeah, whatever! It was still embarrassing! That's probably why I buried it under other things! Just stop okay? That's enough! Besides where is the angry Veer who's always scowling? He's much better than this one! I forgot how annoying you were!"

Veer chuckled huskily causing Meera's heart to flutter. It was amazing how the truth or dare game had once made them realize that they had something for each other and now the same game had bought them together again. He leaned closer until their faces were only an inch apart. "Well, I think your kiss has some magic that changed me!" Meera laughed lightly and shook her head at his silly reply.

"God! Enough with the cheesy lines and all the flirting! I can't take it anymore!" Veer stared at her smiling face and he felt warmth spread through his body. His cold heart had finally melted. He doesn't know what the future holds for them, but he wanted to cherish this as much as he could.

Meera stopped laughing when she noticed Veer looking at her with an intense expression. "What? Is there something on my face?" Veer smiled softly and nodded his head. He cupped her face brushed his fingers across her cheek and pulled her closer.

His breath wafted over her face and Meera gulped. She closed her eyes when she felt his soft lips connect with her lips. She sighed contently and wrapped her arms around his neck pulling him closer. She ran her fingers through his soft hair and fisted it in between her fingers. They moved their lips vigorously and tasted each other. Veer sighed and pulled away. He gazed at Meera who's lips were swollen making her look more appealing and beautiful.

He leaned forward and pecked her lips for one last time. "I don't think I'll ever get tired of kissing you!" Meera mumbled against his lips. Veer smiled and nodded his head. "Me neither!" He pulled her closer and wrapped his strong arms around her. Meera sighed and leaned her head against his shoulder.

Comfortable silence surrounded them. Meera was overwhelmed by all the things that had taken place in the past hour. She didn't know how to feel about it. Although one thing was clear and that was the fact that with Veer by her side, she felt stronger and happier.

"Veer?" Meera muttered as they glanced at the beautiful night sky. Veer hummed and ran his fingers through her scalp. "Why now? Why the sudden change? What made you change your mind?" Veer sighed and cleared his throat.

He shrugged his shoulders and still kept staring at the beautiful stars while Meera lifted her head and glanced at him curiously. "I don't know it might sound crazy but the thought of you having a relationship with someone else drives me crazy and I get consumed with anger. I also didn't like the way Kabir was all over you!"

Meera gasped and gave him a hard shove. "Oh shut the fuck up! He wasn't all over me!!!! He's just my friend! Might I remind you that you're the one who dated and had a girlfriend?" Veer glared at her. Meera was being a hypocrite but in her defense, she didn't bring her boyfriend home and made Veer jealous like he had done to her with Jia.

Besides Vishal and her hadn't even dated for that long. Meera won't hide this but she will tell him when it's the right time. "Well, I won't deny that fact. It was stupid of me to date Jia and I agree I did it to only get a reaction out of you! But, let's talk about Kabir! He has no sense of boundaries! I dislike that guy!" Veer whispered with a cute angry expression on his face.

Meera laughed and pulled his cheeks. "You're so cute Veer! I promise that nothing is going on between Kabir and me! We're only friends! He did ask me out once, but that was years ago! You have nothing to worry about! Maybe I should have bought him home a few years before. Then this would have happened earlier huh?" Meera joked and Veer just scoffed.

"What? Kabir asked you out? When? Where? How?" Meera fell into fits of laughter when he asked her all the questions together. She controlled her laugh enough to answer his question. Veer was glaring at her the entire time. "Aww, you're really cute! I feel like any moment now someone will pop up and say that this is all a prank because I wasn't expecting this to happen so soon. Jokes apart Kabir asked me a few years ago and I said no! As simple as that! You have nothing to worry about!"

Veer didn't look convinced but nodded his head reluctantly. "If you say so but don't complain if I kick his ass the next time he comes close to you!" Meera laughed and shook her head. She yawned, Veer looked at his watch to see that it was almost three in the morning.

He stood up from the swing and pulled Meera into a standing position. "I think you should go to bed now! It's already so late!" Meera nodded with sleepy eyes and stifled a yawn. They walked hand in hand towards Meera's bedroom.

Veer glanced around making sure no one was awake. He didn't want anyone to know yet. They still had a lot of things to clear between them, Meera felt the same way. They halted in front of Meera's room. Meera turned and glanced at Veer who gave her a small smile.

He kisses her forehead and whispered good night. He was about to leave when Meera held his hand stopping him in his tracks. Veer turned to look at her. She gave him a sweet smile. "Can you come in for a second? I need to give you something!" Veer frowned but nodded his head. Meera opened the door slowly and walked inside. Veer followed and closed the door behind him.

Meera removed her jacket and threw it on the chair. She opened her wardrobe and pulled out a few boxes, leaving the last one behind. They were all Veer's birthday gifts that she had purchased over the years. She put away the box that had the locket in it. She would give it to him when the right time came and now was definitely not the time.

Their relationship had only started. She may feel that way but she had no idea as to what Veer's feelings were. She walked towards him and handed him all the seven boxes. Veer looked at her with a shocked expression. "What are these?" Meera smiled and kissed his cheek.

"These are your birthday presents that I had bought each year over the past seven years!" Veer let out a shocked laugh. He had no idea that Meera would do this for him because even he had been doing the same thing. He did not expect her to do this. Veer too had seven presents that belonged to Meera sitting in his wardrobe. He decided to give it to her on her birthday.

"Thank you, Meera!" Meera nodded her head and her heart fluttered when she saw a million emotions swirl in Veer's eyes. "Open them now!" She clapped her hands and exclaimed. Veer chuckled and nodded his head. They sat on her bed next to each other and began opening the presents.

Most of them were really thoughtful. He laughed when he opened a gift that was a razor. "I already have one!" Meera shrugged laughing. "Well, that year you looked like some sort of thug so I thought you could use one!"

That was a hard year for Veer. He had returned from his first deployment and had even lost one of his teammates during a firing. That was the year he wanted Meera the most but suppressed all his urges.

Meera was hesitant but the question was bothering her ever since they had kissed. Taking a deep breath, she glanced at Veer, smiling at one of the pictures she had gifted him. "Veer? I want to ask you something!" Veer glanced at Meera and nodded his head.

"Um, what uh what happened before your eighteenth birthday?" Meera regretted the moment she uttered the question. That's when she realized it was too soon. Veer's face turned blank and Meera hated it. "Meera we're not discussing this right now! I'm going to go now! Good night!" Veer replied stoically and was about to leave but Meera blocked his way.

"Veer I'm sorry I asked okay? Don't leave yet! We can figure out everything later! Just don't go now! Please?" Meera's voice broke. Veer closed his eyes and pinched his nose. He was battling with himself. One part told him to ends things with Meera right this moment and walk away. While another part told him to calm down and discuss things in a civilized manner.

The first part was winning but Veer chose the second one. He opened his eyes which were void and nodded his head. Meera sighed in relief. Once again they sat on the bed next to each other. They spoke about anything that didn't include Veer's past or what their current relationship meant.

They didn't know when sleep overtook. The bonfire and all that happened after that had them exhausted. Veer slept on his back while Meera rested her head against his chest and snuggled close to him. Things had been hard for both of them. They had lost each other and somehow found their way back. Will this be a happy ending for them or is it just the beginning of their impending doom?

All these thoughts loomed around Meera's mind as she fell asleep holding Veer tightly. She can only hope that luck will be with them.
