I was home today. Veer and I have finally made it through the first deployment. Veer doesn't know that I'm coming today. I didn't tell him, as I wanted to surprise him. I had only spoken to him for a couple of minutes and that was only a few months back.

My flight had landed in Pune just a few minutes back. It was almost noon so I knew that Veer would still be at work. I hired a cab. I loaded my bags in the trunk and shut the door. I hadn't switched on my phone in about two months. The moment I switched it on my phone began vibrating with notifications.

I smiled as I listened to his voice message. "Hey, Meera! Good morning! I know I know these might be way too many messages but I really miss you. I watched our wedding video over and over again. I'm not a creep okay!" I laughed when he said that. My eyes were wet now and I sniffled rubbing my nose.

"Anyway, even if I am I am your creep. I miss you so much! Please come home soon! I love you so much!" His voice cracked at the end. I missed him so much. A few more tears rolled down my eyes as I listened to his voice messages. I laughed at a few of them and sobbed when he cried in one of the messages because he had a nightmare.

By the time I was done I had reached home and my eyes were stinging. I  got down from the car paid the driver and wheeled my suitcase with a duffle bag over my shoulder to the front door. It felt so good to be back home. I took a deep breath and unlocked the front door.

I picked up the bags and walked to our bedroom. I took a quick shower and changed into some blue jeans and a black tank top. I put a leather jacket over it, grabbed the car keys from the table, and drove as fast I could towards Prerana.

It had become quite popular in the past few months. The receptionist Sheryl was shocked to see me. She was a sweet girl who went to school with Veer and me I. "Hey Meera! You are back! How are you?" She hugged me and I smiled hugging her back.

"I'm good Sheryl! Could you tell me where Veer is? I promise we'll catch up later!" I asked her, I really do like talking to her, but I just wanted to see my Veer as soon as possible. Sheryl laughed and pointed towards the staircase that led towards the shooting arena.

"Go! I'll meet up with you later!" I smiled, thanked her, and sprinted up the stairs towards the shooting arena. My heart was racing. I was eager to see Veer and I wanted to see how he would react. The entire floor was converted into a shooting place.

My heart stopped for a minute when I spotted Veer helping one of them. He laughed at something. It was so good to see him happy. There were only three students. Karan was helping one of them while Veer helped the other two. There was another trainer as well but maybe he was on leave today.

I took a deep breath and walked towards him. He cheered as his student shot the target. I smiled and tapped his shoulder when I was close enough. "Hey, stranger!" I whispered. Veer turned his head and his face turned serious. "Meera!" He whispered.

He pinched me and I screeched. "Veer, What the hell?" I punched his shoulder. "I'm just making sure that I haven't completely lost my mind!" He screamed and I laughed. I wrapped my arms around his waist and kissed his cheek. Veer laughed loudly and hugged me back tightly.

"You're actually back!!!" He screamed and squeezed me tightly. "Yes!" I exclaimed with equal enthusiasm. He pulled away and traced my face with his fingers. I couldn't help but cry. His eyes were gleaming with love and affection. "I missed you so much!" He whispered and traced my lips with his thumb.

"Me too!" I whispered. Veer leaned forward and pecked my lips. He pulled away and placed his forehead against mine. I entwined our fingers together and chuckled when everyone present there started clapping. He kissed my forehead for a long time. Right now at this very second, I knew I was back home. Veer is my home.

Veer didn't let me go for a few more minutes. Karan greeted me with a hug as well. Veer introduced me to everyone. "Meera meet Krishna, Parth, and Anand!" I greeted them and they smiled back. The three of them had been in the Indian Army but had unfortunately lost their legs. So, now they were on wheelchairs.

That didn't stop them from losing hope. In fact, they were so inspiring and were amazing shooters. They were all probably in their early thirties. "It's nice to meet you guys!" I said and shook hands with each one of them. "You too Miss Meera!" Parth exclaimed with a smirk on his face and I raised my brows. Anand and Krishna laughed while Veer glared at them. Karan too was controlling his laugh.

"That one over there never stops talking about you. I don't think he realizes it but yeah he goes on and on!" Anand said. I smiled and glanced at Veer to find him glaring at Anand but at the same time, he was blushing. "Shut up!" He said and I laughed.

"Well, that shows how much he loves you! A pleasure to meet you!" Krishna said and I grinned widely. Karan slapped Veer's shoulder and began teasing him. I couldn't help but laugh. We spoke for a few more minutes. These men were the epitome of inspiration for me.

I too helped to train them for a few hours after which Karan and the three gentlemen literally kicked us out. "I'll take care of everything today. You both need to go and chill!" Veer and I argued, for us, it didn't really matter how we spent time together as long as we were there with each other that was more than enough.

"Goo! We'll be fine!" Parth commanded. We bid them goodbye and Veer dragged me down the stairs. He stopped mid-way and I raised my brows. "What?" I chuckled. 

Veer scanned the surroundings when he was sure that there was no one. He slammed his lips against mine and I wrapped my arms around his neck. My back touched the wall. I was about the slip from the step but he steadied me and gripped my waist tightly. He kissed me like there was no tomorrow. I moaned and opened my mouth. Our tongues tangled, I sighed as I tasted Veer.

I gripped his neck pulling him closer. Veer broke the kiss and I panted trying to catch my breath. He moved his lips down my jaw and then sucked on my neck. "I missed you so fucking much!" He whispered huskily and I melted against him. I pulled his face back and sucked on his bottom lip. I placed my head against his. "Me too!" I traced his cheek with my thumb and Veer kissed my palm.

Before I could say anything else he kissed me again and I smiled against his lips. I pulled back and Veer groaned. "I'm hungry!" I said and right on queue, my stomach rumbled. Veer chuckled and kissed my forehead. He clasped my hand with him and we descended the stairs.

On the way out he spoke to Sheryl for a few minutes after that we bid her goodbye and exited the building. Veer dragged me towards the parking lot. He halted and glared at me. "Why didn't you tell me that you were coming today? I would have picked you up from the airport!"

I smiled and kissed his cheek. "Relax Veer! I wanted to surprise you!" Veer scoffed and continued to glare at me. "Meera, I lost a few hours that I could have spent with you!" He exclaimed angrily. My heart melted. I cupped his cheek and kissed his lips. "Veer, I'm here now! You can spend how much ever time you want with me!"

Veer sighed and pulled me closer. He leaned his forehead against mine and traced my lips. We were giving a show to everyone but I didn't care. All I could see was Veer and his love. "We're not getting out of our bedroom after we eat! That's a promise Meera!" He whispered huskily sending shivers down my body. I chuckled nervously while he smirked.

"Okay, fine whatever Veer! Get me food first!" Veer chuckled winked and pulled me towards his bike. Veer had bought that a few days after our marriage. Even I drove it a few times. It was always fun when we went on night drives together. "What about our car?" Veer shrugged and passed me a helmet. "We'll take it the next time or I'll have Karan drive it to our house!"

I nodded and put on the helmet. Veer too wore his helmet and sunglasses. I couldn't help but admire him. He kick-started the bike, I sat behind him and hugged him tightly. He revved the engine. "You better hold on tight Meera!"

I threw my head back and laughed. "Mister Gupta, have you forgotten that speed is my hobby?" He chuckled and shook his head. I held him tightly as he sped towards the road. We reached a cafe where we had some amazing food. Veer and I cracked jokes, he told me about how things were here, and once in a while, we kissed. 

I stuffed myself with food like there was no tomorrow. Veer chuckled and wiped the corner of my lips with a tissue. His phone buzzed and he texted away while I munched on my sandwich. I washed it down with juice and finally felt full. I hadn't even had breakfast today. Things had been kind of busy at the base so when I leaving there was a ton of paperwork that I needed to handle.

When I was done I patted my belly and grinned at Veer who was smiling at me. " Are you done, wife? Or do you want more food?" I laughed and shook my head. "I'm done for now! Although I would love some dessert!" I exclaimed Veer wiped his hands with a tissue and chuckled. He called the waiter to bring the bill. 

I pouted and pointed at the dessert section of the menu. "I promise you'll get dessert! Come on!" Veer pulled me up and er walked towards the bike. He started driving and I had no idea where we were going. A few minutes later I realized that we going home.

"Why are we going home?" I asked him loudly and he just laughed speeding towards the destination. "You'll see!" He replied. Once we reached I got down as Veer parked the bike. We removed the helmet and walked to the entrance together.

He unlocked the door and I gasped when my entire family screamed "Welcome Home!" Andy blasted confetti over my head. Mom was the first one to run towards me and give me a bone-crushing hug. "Why didn't you tell any of us that you were coming today?" She scolded me, as I laughed and hugged her tightly.

"I wanted to surprise you guys! I was going to come home for dinner!" I said,  Mom just kissed my forehead and wiped her tears. "Welcome home kiddo!" Dad hugged me tightly. He kissed my forehead and ruffled my hair. Andy was the next one to hug me. "I missed your ugly face!" He said, I rolled my eyes and punched his stomach. He grunted and swatted my hands away.

Viraj Uncle and Naina Aunty along with Tanya greeted me. Sheena and Karan were here as well. After greeting the entire family Mom served her famous hot chocolate fudge. "Thank you!" I whispered to Veer who just smiled and kissed my forehead.

We had dessert, played some board games and even watched a movie. After which Mom cooked an amazing dinner. We ate together and then everyone left. They hugged me and we made more plans to meet. Some days it was hard for me to believe that this was my family. I thank god every day for blessing me with such an amazing family.

I shut the front door and walked to the kitchen where Veer was washing some of the utensils. I wrapped my arms around his waist kissed his cheek. "That was a nice dinner! Did you plan all of this?" I asked him. He smiled and nodded. "Of course and I expect you to thank me in other ways sweetheart!" Veer said with a playful glint in his eyes.

He tilted his head and nipped my nose. I rolled my eyes and pulled away from him. I wiped the utensils and placed them back where they belonged. Veer threw water at me, I gasped and dumped the contents of the nearby glass on his head. Veer stood there for a few seconds trying to comprehend what had happened. Water dripped from his hair and I laughed. He smirked and lunged at me. I ducked running away from him.

"Meera, stop right now or there will be some major consequences when I catch you!" He laughed and exclaimed. I laughed and ran away towards the living room. "We'll see Veer! Try and catch me!" I sang and circled the couch. He almost caught me I jumped over the couch and he laughed under his breath.

I ran up the stairs and could feel him right behind me. Just when I was about to reach our room and shut the door I felt Veer's strong arms wrap around my waist. He lifted me off the ground and I laughed. "Caught you!" Veer whispered huskily sending shivers down my body.

"You can never run away from me Meera! I will always get you because you are mine!" He whispered and I panted trying to catch my breath. I had no idea when this childish chase had turned into an intense one. I gulped as Veer placed me on the ground and turned me to face him.

His eyes were now dilated. I stood on my toes and wrapped my arms around his neck. I walked back until my back touched the wall. I leaned forward but he moved back, he kept doing that and chuckled when I cursed under my breath.

"Stop! I want you! Right now!" I whispered against his lips and fisted his shirt yanking him close, he braced his arms against the wall. He slammed his lips against mine and I moaned. I opened my mouth and his tongue tangled with mine. I could taste the mixture of chocolate cake and Veer, it was a heavenly combination. I sighed and broke the kiss when I felt breathless. Veer continued to run his lips down my jaw and then began sucking my neck.

I moaned and arched my back. He pushed the sleeves down my arms and sucked on my shoulder. I grabbed his shirt and pulled it over his head. I ran my hands over his strong arms and chest. I leaned forward and kissed his scar. Veer smiled softly and kissed my lips. A few seconds later he ripped my shirt open. I gasped and stared at him.

"Easy access!" He mumbled and before I could reply he threw my bra away and sucked on my nipple. All I did was moan his name loudly. I could feel wetness pool between my legs. Before I could comprehend anything Veer carried me and threw me on the bed. He ripped the pants and panties off my body. He buried his face in between my legs and I moaned as he sucked my clit.

"Woah! Veer!" I moaned and gripped his hair. Veer growled and continued to suck and pumped his fingers in and out of me. My body shook as the orgasm hit me hard. Veer panted and pulled away. He smirked and wiped his lips. "That was better than any dessert that I had today." I chuckled and blushed.

He stripped away the rest of his clothes and threw them on the floor. He was hard, I grasped his shaft with my hand and pumped it with my hand. Veer shook his head pushed me back on the bed. "No, I want to cum inside you!" He said and I felt breathless.

He entered me and I gasped as I felt every inch of him connected to me. I dug my nails on his back and gripped him tightly. "So fucking tight!" He growled and pulled away.  This time he held my thigh over his shoulder and trusted in again. I moaned as I felt him go deeper. The bed creaked and the sound of our moans filled the room.

We kissed and our bodies moved with at most synchronization. Sweat covered our bodies. I came hard, and Veer too moaned out my name and came inside me. We panted trying to catch our breath. A few minutes later we took a shower together which turned into another intense love-making session. That night Veer took me in every possible way.

Days passed by, Veer and I fell into our routine. On some days I would go to Prerana to help him train the students. Currently, Veer and I were sitting on the couch watching a movie and munching on popcorn. "Veer, it's going to be a year since Sister Brenda passed away," I whispered and leaned my head against his shoulder.

Veer hummed and kissed my forehead. "Yeah I know, I already booked us a ticket to Dehradun for the day after. We'll go visit the kids in the orphanage and spend some time with them. "You already planned everything?" I asked him and grinning widely. "Of course!" He said.

The day after we packed our bags and landed in Dehradun. We booked a car and drove towards the orphanage. We had arranged stationery, books, and cakes for the children. Even though we might not come every month we make sure to arrange these things every month to give to the children.

Before going to the orphanage we stopped at the graveyard and visited her grave. Veer held me tightly as I cried against his chest. He wiped his eyes as a few tears rolled down his cheeks.

We reached the orphanage a few minutes later. Sister Linda greeted us she was happy that we were here. "Sister Brenda would have been happy to see you! Come on, the kids are waiting!" We smiled at her and followed her towards the huge hall where all the kids were gathered.

We distributed the gifts to everyone. They were squealing with delight. It warmed my heart to all of them so happy. All these kids ever wanted and craved was love.

I smiled widely when I saw Veer interacting with some of the kids. They asked him numerous questions and he patiently answered all of them. He was so good with kids. I do not doubt that he would be an amazing father to our kids.

I sighed and strolled around the garden. I sighed sitting down on a slab and remembered the time when the three-year-old Veer hugged me and told me not to worry about anything. He promised me that he would be there for me always. I grinned widely, he had kept his promise. We lost each other for a while but eventually found our way back.

I frowned when I heard a crying sound coming from next to me. I whipped my head to find a small girl leaning against the wall and crying. "Hey, hey what's wrong sweetie?" I moved towards the other side and pulled her hands away from her face. I sucked in a breath when I realized who it was.

Tara, the same girl with whom I had interacted last year when we came here to celebrate Veer's birthday. She had grown up a bit but was still very small. Her hazel eyes were glistening with tears. I sighed and wiped her tears with my thumb.

She sniffed and whimpered. "What's wrong?" She held out a pencil case which was broken. "It broke! It's my favret and now it's broken! I bad girl!"  I couldn't help but feel sad. She thought that the pencil case broke because she was a bad girl.

I pulled her on my lap and she leaned against me. "It didn't break because you are bad! Did you run fast with it in your hands and bumped somewhere?" I asked her and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. She sniffled and nodded.

"It's okay! Next time be more careful okay? I'll get you another pencil case!" I told her and caressed her hair. Her eyes were now gleaming. She jumped on my lap and held my face in between her tiny hands. "Weally?" She asked cutely. I laughed and bumped my nose against hers. "Really!"

She threw her hands in the air and whooped. "Thank Ku! You nice!" I laughed and kissed her cheek. She leaned her head against my chest and stared at the sky. For some reason, this felt perfect like she belonged in my arms. My heart hammered against my chest as a fleeting thought crossed my mind.

I stared at her beautiful face as she told me about something. I don't know for how long I sat there and listened to her. Her sweet voice and the innocence in her eyes tugged my heart. How could someone ever abandon this beautiful soul?

"Hey there! I have been searching for you!" I snapped out of my thoughts as Veer kissed my forehead and sat down beside me. Tara stopped talking and hid her face against my neck. I chuckled and patted her back.

"Who is this pretty lady?" Veer asked and ruffled Tara's hair. Tara giggled at him. "I Tara! What's your name?" She asked him. Veer grinned widely and held his hand out. "My name is Veer, I'm Meera's husband!" He said and pointed at me.

Tara shook his hands and made an o-face. I couldn't help but chuckle. I don't know if she understood the word husband. "You both best friends?" She asked us and Veer nodded his head enthusiastically. "Yeah, we are a pretty girl!" He said and tickled her stomach.

She giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck. Veer chuckled and ruffled her hair again. "We can be friends too!" Tara exclaimed, Veer and I laughed.

"Veer our friend here broke her pencil case! Is there another one by any chance?" Veer pretended to dig through the bag and presented another pencil case to Tara. Her eyes widened and she squealed. "Thank Ku! It's so pwetty!" She said with an awed voice. Veer laughed and kissed her forehead.

Tara fit in with us so perfectly. The more I thought about it the more it was just perfect. Veer cracked jokes while Tara and I laughed. When it was time for lunch Tara jumped up and held both of our hands. "You both nice! Will you come tomorrow?" She asked us and Veer glanced at me.

"Yeah, sure sweetheart we'll be here! Don't run this time okay?" She smiled and kissed our cheeks. She waved and skipped away with her two pencil cases in her hand.

"She's so adorable!" I muttered and Veer nodded. He kissed my forehead and pulled me towards his chest. "Come on let's go out and eat something!" Veer pulled me up. Sister Linda bid us goodbye and we left the orphanage but my heart was still with Tara.

Throughout the day I couldn't stop thinking about her and kept zoning out. We were currently staying in Veer's house. We decided to stay back for a few more days. This house had a lot of memories of Veer and me.

I leaned against the railing of the balcony and stared at the beautiful sky. I couldn't stop thinking about Tara. I wanted to be with her, I wanted her to be a part of our family.  I smiled when I felt a pair of familiar hands hug me from behind. I sighed and leaned against Veer. He kissed the side of my head and caressed my hair.

"Hey, what are you thinking about? You've been lost ever since we left the orphanage!" I sighed and turned to face him. I hugged him tightly and buried my face in his chest. "What's wrong Meera?" Veer asked again and held me close to his chest.

"Veer looking at Tara today reminded me about all the feelings that I felt when I was at the orphanage. I felt lonely and sad at times. But, now I have a family." I paused for a second and glanced at his face.

"I want us to adopt Tara!" I blurted out and stared at Veer trying to decipher his expression but he had a blank face. "Say something!" I whispered. I waited for a couple of minutes and then suddenly his face broke into a huge grin.

"I was thinking the same thing!" He said and laughed. I laughed and jumped clapping my hands together. "Somehow Tara just fits in! I was going to tell you but you beat me to it!" I laughed and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"But, are you sure you want to adopt now? Do you think it's too early?" Veer asked and I shook my head. "No, not at all! Tara is meant to be with us!" Veer smiled at me and nodded. I kissed him and hugged him tightly.

"I love you! We're going to bring our daughter soon!" Veer whispered and I laughed as a few tears fell from my eyes. I remembered how my Mom always told me that I reminded her of how she was as a kid. She couldn't stomach the thought of leaving me and me not getting a family.

I was lonely but my Mom and Dad saved me. That's how I felt when I saw Tara, she reminded me of how I felt before my parents found me. I can't let her go. She needs to know that she has a family.

The next morning Veer and I meet up with Sister Linda. She was ecstatic that we had decided to adopt. She told us everything about Tara. How Tara had lost her parents in a car crash when she was barely a year old. Her relatives didn't want her and she ended up being here.

She had been here for almost two and a half years. "It's a huge responsibility but I know there's no one better than the two of you! Tara is yours!" Veer glanced at me and we smiled at her.

"However there might be a lot of paperwork to get through! It might take a couple of weeks." We nodded and listened to everything she told us. Veer and I met up with Tara again.

"Tara do you want to come home with us?" I asked her and she looked at Veer and me curiously. "Home? You take me home?" She asked and I nodded.

"Yes!" I said and she glanced at Veer who ruffled her hair. "You be my Mumma and Papa? Like they show in telly?" She asked us innocently and my heart broke. A few tears fell from my eyes and I nodded.

"That is right, pretty girl we will be your Mumma and Papa! Are you okay with that?" She nodded her head enthusiastically and hugged me tightly. I laughed and patted her back. "I no come here again?" She asked and I shook my head.

Veer hugged us and kissed her head. "No baby you'll stay with us." He told her and squealed. "A few more days then we'll go home okay?" I told her and she nodded.

Veer and I had to leave for a week after which we would come back and take Tara with us. Tara cried but we promised her that we would be back. I hated to let her go but we still had to sort some paperwork. We informed our families who were happy to hear the news. My Mom cried and hugged me tightly. Naina Aunty bawled and did the same with Veer and me.

A week and a half later we came back and I was shocked to see Tara who jumped and ran towards Veer. He picked her up and threw her in the air. "You're back!" She said. "Of course! We promised you!"

Sister Linda handed us the official paperwork. Tara's teacher gave us her bag which contained her belongings. She handed us the adoption papers. She hugged us and Tara. "Let's go home, pretty girl!" I whispered and Tara nodded.

We each held one of her hands and left the orphanage. Veer and I swung her in between us. "Yay! Faster Mumma, Papa faster!" Tara chimed, my heart melted. She was finally ours. The three of us played in the nearby park until it was time for our flight. Tara was now Tara Gupta. She was ours in every way. Veer kissed my forehead and smiled at our daughter who skipped in front of us.

"We have a daughter!" He whispered. I laughed and nodded. "We have a daughter!" I agreed. We chuckled and played with her until she fell asleep. We landed home where she was greeted by our family. Tara had never looked this happier.
