Chapter 66

Hello people of earth and possible other places! I know I know go yell and scream all you want because I haven't updated in over a month but in my defense I have very limited internet right now. My dad only has a limited number of GB a month and he doesn't allow me to use it so in order to use Wifi I have to either A) sneak it when he's gone which is rare. Or B) go to a restaurant and borrow their Wifi which is difficult with my work schedule right now. I'm doing the best I can but believe me when I say that I haven't ditched my stories and I'm not intentionally leaving you hanging!

No one wanted to compete in the cover photo contest for "Dancing With The Devil" so I made my own!

"Babe," Norman's soft voice awoke me from my sleep. I let out a small yawn and opened one eye to see him staring down at me. He smirked down at me and I couldn't help but smile. "Morning," I said quietly. Norman widened his smile slightly.

"We need to get going or we're going to miss our flight," Norman said. I felt my smile grow just a little more. I couldn't wait to see the kids. Well I guess Mingus wasn't really a kid anymore, but in my eyes he was. Norman ran his fingers up my spine slowly.

I felt a shiver run up my shine as I sighed contently and buried my head in the pillow again. Norman chuckled and kissed the top of my head. "Come on, Lazy. Get up," Norman said still chuckling. I huffed and looked up at him again glaring at him slightly.

"You're calling me lazy? Have you seen yourself on a weekend off?" I asked him rhetorically. Norman chuckled and got out of the bed throwing more of the covers on me which made me warmer. I sighed and buried my head back in the pillow as Norman headed towards the shower. There was nothing better than sleeping a little longer while someone else was getting ready.

~~

"You ready?" Norman asked me as he handed me my backpack. I smiled and slung it over my shoulder. I was so excited to be home. Norman's fingers laced with mine as he pulled me towards the exit of the plane. Mingus was picking us up along with Brynlee.

Norman squeezed my hand as we walked into the busy airport. That's when I instantly spotted Mingus and Brynlee. I swear he had grown a foot in this week that Norman and I were gone. Brynlee was sitting high on his shoulders holding a sign that said "Mommy and Daddy."

Norman and I smiled at each other as we started heading towards them. I didn't think Brynlee had really spotted us but I knew Mingus did by the look on his face. As we got closer I watched Brynlee's eyes connect with Norman's and she let out a squeal.

I couldn't help but laugh at Mingus's face as Brynlee started kicking her legs wanting down. He quickly placed her on the ground and she started running towards Norman. He dropped his bags and crouched down as Brynlee plowed right into his arms.

I looked up at Mingus who had slowly started walking towards us. I quickly wrapped my arms around him and pulled him into me. Mingus's arms engulfed me in a warm hug and I couldn't help smile. I was so happy to be home. Norman and I glanced at each other.

"Switch," we both said with a chuckle at the same time. Brynlee jumped in my arms as Mingus went over to Norman. She giggled and started playing with my hair as she hugged me. I kissed her forehead as she pulled back and patted my face jokingly.

"We ready to get out of here?" I asked. The boys nodded and Brynlee reached for Mingus who gladly took her and placed her on his shoulders again. Norman and I looked at each other before wrapping our arms around each other and following behind Mingus and Brynlee.

"At least they didn't kill each other," Norman joked quietly as we started walking out of the airport. I chuckled and tapped the brim of his baseball cap. Norman stuck his tongue out at me and I couldn't help but laugh a little louder cause Mingus to glance back at us.

We quickly dumped all of our bags in the trunk of the car and got in with Norman in the driver's seat. I was so happy to finally be home. I couldn't wait to get home and watch Brynlee run around the house and Eye in the Dark chase after her before sliding into the couch.

Norman smiled over at me as if he knew what I was thinking about. It didn't take us long to get home. Traffic actually wasn't that bad today. I glanced in the rearview mirror to see that Brynlee was asleep on Mingus's shoulder. My poor baby girl. She already had too much excitement for the day.

Norman and I grabbed the bags from the trunk and Mingus grabbed Brynlee from the back seat. She laid her head on his shoulder and sighed contently. All of us headed inside and took the elevator to the top floor. I felt a smile ghost across my face when the elevator doors opened revealing our front door.

"Home sweet home," I sighed as Norman opened the front door. I heard him let out a light chuckle before he dropped some of our bags on the floor. I dropped the rest of our bags beside the pile he had already made and turned around to Mingus. I held my hands out for Brynlee but he shook his head.

"It's okay. I got her. I'll go lay her down," I gave him a soft smile and waved him off. I thought it was cute how he always wanted to help when it came to her. I jumped when I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist. After relaxing I sunk into Norman's embrace.

"Come on let's get all this stuff unpacked," Norman says. I groaned. "But I don't wanna," I whined as I turned around in his arms and buried my head in his chest. Norman chuckled and rubbed my back gently. "I think that is the first time I ever heard that come out of your mouth," he said.

I smacked his chest lightly. "You're not nice," I mumbled into his chest. Norman's chuckles vibrated my own body. "So then what do you want to do?" Norman asked me softly. I raised up a little too look at him. "I think I'm gonna go lay down with Brynlee and take a nap," I said.

Norman gave me a small smile. "Yeah you go do that. I'll be there in a second. I just wanna see what Mingus is doing," he said. I gave him a small nod and headed down the hallway to our bedroom where I knew Mingus had laid Brynlee down. It was where we always put her when she was just taking a nap.

I slowly and quietly crawled into bed beside her. She let out a soft sigh before snuggling into my side. She had my long brown curly hair and Norman's soft bright blue eyes. Norman and Mingus were going to have to beat guys with a baseball bat to keep them away from her.

The door quietly squeaked open and Norman popped his head in. I gave him a small smile as he quietly shut the door behind him. "What are you doing?" I whispered to him. Norman kicked off his boots before sliding into bed on the other side of Brynlee.

"I'm coming to join you guys," he whispered back. I felt a small smile coming across my face as he reached his arm out and ran his fingers gently through my hair. I leaned into his hand and sighed contently. I loved being around him when he was like this.

We both looked down at Brynlee as she slept peacefully in between us. "I love you," Norman whispered in my hair as he scooted closer to me. Squishing Brynlee between us. I sighed and laid my head on his shoulder. "I love you too," I whispered back.

Norman leaned his head against mine as we sat in silence. "How much?" he asked. I felt my eyebrows scrunch together in confusion. "How much, what?" I asked him. "How much do you love me?" he asked me. I let out a huffed chuckle and bit my lip.

"Is this a rhetorical question?" I asked him. This time Norman chuckled. "No, I'm being serious," he said. "Hmm, I don't know. I guess I tolerate you," I said. I was completely joking. Norman let out a small groan and squeezed my sides gently. "Be nice," he said.

I chuckled. "Norman, we've been together for almost 7 years and we have a child together. You know I love you. I always will," I said while looking down at Brynlee and brushing some of her hair out of her face. Norman squeezed my sides a little more.

"Then will you do something for me?" he asked me softly. I felt a small smile coming across my face as he started running his fingers through my hair like I was doing to Brynlee. I'd do anything for him because I loved him that much. He was my everything.

"Anything," I whispered quietly. Norman kissed the back of my head and I could tell that he was smiling. "Marry me," he whispered in my hair. My hand froze mid-stroke through Brynlee's hair and my breath hitched in my throat. I slowly turned and looked up at him.

"What?" I asked him slightly confused. Norman's smile widened. "I know. I don't have a ring, but that's because I was just laying here thinking and I don't want to spend another moment away from you. I want to watch our children grow up and I want to grow old with you. I love you, Mandy. Marry me."
