Turning his head around, Max and the other pets watched as Buddy started to shake in a violent manner. His friend whined in agony. Frightened, Gidget stood closer to Max as the scene continued to unfold in front of them.

Buddy's fur, usually slick and shiny, quickly became dull and spiky. Every time his body entered another spasm, bits of hair fell off. The dachshund let out one last cry of pain before his head dropped to the ground. His eyes rolled back into his head as he breathed his final breath. "Not Buddy..." Chloe murmured, for once showing emotion in her eyes. Snowball lowered his gaze to his feet while Max hugged Gidget even tighter than ever before.

Suddenly, a low growl rose from Buddy's throat as his eyes, now jet-black, snapped open. He clumsily got to his feet and turned his attention to the four pets. Baring sharp fangs capable of tearing them apart, Buddy pounced at the closest target. Snowball screamed as the dachshund pinned him to the ground. However, he didn't get the chance to sink his teeth into the rabbit's flesh when Chloe ran over with a wooden plank and whacked Buddy in the face.

Howling, Buddy stumbled backwards towards the edge of the roof. He took one wrong step and tumbled over. Horrified, the group rushed over just in time to see him crash head first on the sidewalk below with a bone-chilling crunch. The dachshund remained ominously still...
