Love at first sight
Written 2012 by VeGirl
The rest of the day people were walking around, trying to put things together and a little redecorating was necessary. Piece by piece things were getting normal again in the house and people were heading out of there.
"Miss Palm," Klaus said as I met him in the hallway.
"Claws," I replied.
"What is it about you?" Klaus voice was sinister at once. "What did you do to wrap the bad Salvatore around your finger?" His eyes were narrowed and felt like laser beams. "What make you speak to me with such an attitude and get away with it?"
I had already swallowed hard before his last words. Now I just looked confused at him, what did he mean?
"Everyone else is absolutely terrified for me; for good reason I might add. But you are not." His voice sounded ominous.
"I would be... if vampires were real," I said silent.
His eyes were huge as he gawked. "Pardon me?" He stared at me for a moment. "Do you want me to show you that vampires are real?" His tone was sinister and then everything went black.
I woke up sometime after and I had no idea how long I had been out. I looked around in a white room I didn't recognise, where I laid on a couch.
"Good morning, sleepy head," I immediately recognized Klaus' voice and sat up.
"What happened and where am I?"
"You're in my house."
"Why?"
"I wanted to spend some time alone, to get to know you."
"I hate to repeat myself, but why?!"
He deflected my question. "So what do you think about my new house?" he said with a gesture around. "Rebekah and I found this house; we thought it was quite impressive."
"So that's where you have been," I mumbled.
"So you missed me, did you?" He made a quirky smile and turned me to face him. I knew I wasn't supposed to look in his eyes and I didn't. Did I have my magic necklace on? I couldn't remember. And would it really work?
"Emma..." he cooed. "Look at me."
I focused on his lips and noticed that he had actually really nice full lips, and dimples appeared on his cheeks when he smiled.
His eyes were like powerful magnets and it didn't matter how hard I focused, I couldn't avoid his blue eyes for long. They were so amazingly blue and had little brown streaks in them and it felt like I got lost in them.
"You love me," he said and I just smiled at him.
"You have beautiful eyes." I said in a daze. He smiled and that made me smile back at him.
"Emma..." he said slowly. "Has everything you told us been the truth?"
"Yes," I answered.
"Is there anything you have not told me?" he asked and I nodded, unable to say anything else than the truth.
"What have you not told me, love?" His tone was soft and seductive, but his face changed expression as I told him about my favourite TV-show home in Sweden.
"You have seen me on TV?!"
"Yes, you or the actor Joseph Morgan," I answered and I could almost hear a meditative sound in my voice as I revealed all my secrets.
"Does the Salvatore's know this?"
"Yes, they and Elijah are taking care of it."
"Elijah knows?"
Rebekah walked into the lounge, interrupting us. "Emma? What are you doing here?"
"Why wouldn't I be here? This is my boyfriend's house," I said and slid an arm around Klaus' waist.
"Niklaus!" Rebekah barked at her brother who was giving her a smug smile.
I didn't understand. "Is something wrong?"
"No everything is fine, love," Klaus said and kissed my temple while Rebekah glared at him.
"One day! And he will get back at you, mark my words!" she growled. "Be prepared for the retribution."
"Killjoy!" Klaus muttered as Rebekah left us. "Come on love, let's go have some fun!" I smiled and followed him.
We took his black Lexus down to the Grill and I recognised it the minute we walked in through the door. I knew I had been there before, but didn't remember when or with whom I had been there.
Oh, never mind! I thought as we walked up to the bar, as long as I was with this gorgeous and sweet man here. Klaus ordered beer for us and I excused myself to go to the lady's room. There was something wrong as I stood there, looking at myself in the mirror, but I could not figure out what it was, no matter how hard I tried. I shrugged and left for the bar.
There was a man I met on my way to meet my boyfriend.
"Emma?"
I looked, but didn't recognise him. He had dark, almost black hair and looked really good, but there was so much sadness in his ice-blue eyes. I felt a strange need to take that sadness away from him, but I didn't know why.
"Yes, I'm Emma, do I know you?"
He didn't answer, but his face hardened and his lips became thin lines as he scrunched them together. "Klaus!" he barked and was quickly by my boyfriend's side.
Did they know each other? Was that why I seemed to almost recognise him?
'Mr Tall, Dark and Handsome' grabbed Klaus' shoulder and growled. "What did you do to her?"
"Oh, have you met Emma, my girlfriend?" Klaus smirked.
I noticed that the tall and dark guy looked so hurt and sad as he watched me and he was amazingly angry at Klaus. I immediately wanted to comfort him and try to take his pain away. Why did I want that?
"Why?!"
"Why not?" Klaus replied smiling as he pulled me into him and kissed me. He looked glib at Mr. 'Tall, Dark and Handsome'.
Why did he do that? Something was going on that I did not know anything about.
"Why are you so sad?" I asked the tall dark stranger.
His eyes were ice-blue, but had so much warmth in them and they felt like home. How could that be?
"I lost my girlfriend, and she meant very much to me." His eyes were locked to mine and I couldn't help myself but reached out and put my hand on his cheek.
"I'm sure things will work out for you." I smiled at him. "You're a handsome man. She'll come back if she's smart."
He smiled a sad smile. "I hope you're right." He turned to Klaus and said something that sounded like: "I will rip you apart if you hurt her!"
It sounded a little violent to my ears. Why would he act so protective of me? He didn't know me, or did he?
He left us and we finished our game of pool; by the time we got back to Klaus' house it was starting to darken outside. The lights were on in the house as we got inside.
"Are you tired, love?" Klaus put his arm around me. I leaned my head against him and smiled. "Shall we slip under the duvet?"
I turned around and watched his wicked smile, but found so much warmth and compassion in his gorgeous blue eyes. Whenever he smiled his face became absolutely beautiful, with dimples and his blue eyes just glistened.
"No, this is too weird!" Rebekah walked in to the room and glared at Klaus. I looked at her puzzled, not understanding what she meant. "Enough is enough!" She snapped her fingers, said something about compulsion and remembering and it was like a fog had disappeared. I looked around and found myself wrapped in Klaus' arms.
What the hell?! I stepped away from him.
"Killjoy," he muttered to his sister.
"Nick, she's my friend, not your puppet!"
"Rebekah, what happened?"
"Come here Emma, get away from my nitwit for a brother." She put her arm around me and kept talking to her brother. "Emma is my friend and I don't have a lot of friends."
"You took my girlfriend away," he pouted.
"Girlfriend?!"
"Fake girlfriend!" Rebekah said and pulled me with her. "Come on, I'll take you home," she said and I tagged along.
In the car she tried to explain what had happened, since I still didn't understand. "He compelled me to be his girlfriend?!" I yelped.
"Yes, I told you he is a pratt!"
I sat in silence in the car as Rebekah drove me home to the boarding house. "Have I had been gone long?" My tone was low as I wondered why I hadn't been rescued.
"No, just for the day."
"Mhmm..."
She dropped me off and drove away as I walked inside.
