Another good day to die
Written 2012 by VeGirl
"NO!" both Elena and I shouted and I threw myself in front of Damon. I definitely didn't think that through.
Klaus finger ripped a hole in my chest and the other gasped as my blood started to flow. All I saw was the startled expression in Klaus face before I noticed the smell, that awful coppery, salty, rusty smell of blood and that's when everything went black.
When I came back to life I was laying on the floor with Damon straddling me. Both Elena and Klaus sat on the floor beside us, looking worried.
"Hey Love, welcome back!" Damon smiled and pulled a bloodstained sleeve of his shirt down. What? Had he given me his blood again?
I drew breath and felt the scent of my own blood; I groaned. "It reeks!"
Damon laughed dark. "Smells delicious to me..." His eyes were not full blown vampire red, but on its way to get there.
I groaned again.
"I didn't want to strip you naked in this company." He added and I looked at the worried faces around me.
"The blood is on your shirt, the wound is healed," Elena said in an attempt to comfort me.
"Get it off!" I almost barfed. "GET IT OFF!" I shouted, and was hauled to my feet in an instant. Damon ripped up my shirt with a grin, making the buttons rain in every direction and then tore it off me.
"You want me to get that as well?" He asked with a smile and a gesture down at my bra. I glanced down and noticed that one of the bra-strap was torn just where Klaus finger had ripped my skin, but the wound was healed. That was amazing!
Damon unbuttoned his shirt and pulled it on me now, smiling.
I spun around and glared at Klaus. "You owe me a shirt, claw-boy!" I couldn't really decipher his expression to be mostly surprised or in awe.
"Maybe you shouldn't interfere when vampires fight!" He replied angrily, and I couldn't do anything else than agree. Who did I think I was?
Damon turned me to face him again. He stroked his thumb by the corner of my mouth. "Still drooling, vampire girl." My hand flew up to the other side of my mouth, wiped it and inspected the hand to realize he was right. I moaned, embarrassed.
"Hello, brother!" Elijah stood suddenly in the room next to Stefan.
"What's going on?" Stefan wanted to know as Klaus started to cough, trying not to choke totally on the Scotch he just swallowed. "Wha... wh..."
"I believe the phrase you're looking for is WTF?" Elijah said calm.
"How did you get out?" Klaus spat, but then realised. "Of course - Stefan," he added with an angry face.
Stefan was still more interested in knowing what was going on with me standing there with blood smeared on my face.
"Interfering in a vampire-fight will only make you bleed." Klaus said with a gesture at me and turned his eyes on Stefan. "You should know, after all you were the one who taught me some of my best tricks..."
Stefan just shrugged his eyebrows in acknowledgement for a moment. He seemed to think I was in no trouble, because he turned to Klaus again. "I want to know why you thought I would help you, and I'm going to get what leverage I can."
"I'm not here to give you grief," Klaus tried to explain.
"Yet that's what seemed to happen every time you show up here in Mystic Falls." Stefan's voice was cold and detached as he spoke to Klaus, standing with his arms crossed over his chest.
"So you ganged up with my brother..." Klaus just looked at him in silence, while glancing at said brother. "Why would Elijah help you against me?"
"Because I can arrange a family reunion." Stefan felt so cold and detached; I had not seen him like that, it was almost as if he didn't have any humanity left in him at all and I could understand Elena's feeling that she had a hard time trusting him.
"Is it time for me to call my friend; your sister Rebekah?" I was trying to lower the tension, but it had the opposite effect. It could have something to do with the harsh tone of voice I couldn't disguise.
Elijah snapped around and stared at me. "How can you be friends with Rebekah, she's been dead for ninety years!"
"Not really..." Klaus actually looked guilty. "She got away for a couple of years, the sneaky bint." Klaus looked at Elijah who still looked baffled, but the turned back towards me. "In fact maybe it's better if you call her; she stopped answering my calls a while ago."
Elena took a step closer. "She couldn't answer; I daggered her."
The room went silent and both original brothers stared at her.
"Don't worry; she's up and about again," I interfered. "As good as new; not too keen to see you though," I added.
Klaus was in an instance just in front of me with a hand around my neck. Everyone in the room was startled and tried to get him to let me go. "What did you do?" he spat out hateful.
"It wasn't her, it was me!" Elena shouted as it looked like a war was about to erupt in the middle of the room. "I was the one that daggered her!"
Everyone spun around, Klaus let me go and Damon was at my side with his arms wrapped around me in the next second.
Elena continued. "I found out that Michael wasn't the one who killed your mother." It was like a bomb went off. Klaus and Elijah gasped and Stefan was in an instant in front of Elena, before anyone could touch her.
"What do you know about Michael?" Elijah's voice was ice cold.
"I daggered him," Elena said.
Wow! I thought. She daggered the entire family? I really needed to hear the whole story!
"Michael's around?" The ice from Elijah's voice had spread to his eyes as they nailed Elena to the spot.
"No, he's dead once and for all!" Klaus said cold and Elijah spun around to look at his brother. "I finally staked him and watched him burn," Klaus said silent; hate dripping from his voice. The two brothers stood in silence for a good time, looking at each other. I couldn't even imagine what the two of them had experienced though out the years. I thought I had been through things in my 25 years, but what had the world changed into in a thousand year? It was mind-blowing to even fantasize about it.
"I'm gonna need new clothes." I broke the silence and turned for the room to get some clothes without decorative holes and that didn't smell like blood. I left and Damon followed me into the hallway.
Stefan stopped Damon with an arm around his shoulders and a teasing look on hid face. "It was sweet how you took care of Emma; you better be careful brother; your humanity is showing."
"Yes Stefan, I have become you; how tragic for both of us." Damon's tart reply seemed to be hanging in the room long after he shrugged his chuckling brother off and came after me to his room.
After leaving Elijah to deal with his brother, Stefan picked up his phone and taped on Katherine's number. "Didn't want to be the one to cry wolf..." Stefan said with a glance at Klaus. "But we might need your help."
When Damon entered his room I had already got his shirt and my pants off and was standing in my underwear in front of the sink, washing my face clean from blood. I just glared at him and at my reflection in the mirror.
"One of these days you're gonna get yourself killed," he said with a dismissive clicking sound. "You better have my blood in your system that day!"
My eyebrows shadowed my eyes in confusion and all anger drained my body.
"Come on sweetie, let's get you in a nice relaxing bubble-bath." He smiled seductively and opened the tap to the bathtub. He came over, standing behind my back with his arms around me, kissing me on the neck until my toes curled. "I want you naked!"
Who wouldn't want to be naked in a tub with Damon Salvatore?
Minutes later, he sat behind me in the hot water, kissing my neck. "So when are you offering me some of your blood?" He was using his seductive voice.
I slapped him on the head. Well not hard, but yet. "I'm not your personal blood bank!"
He snickered and it sounded sinister al of a sudden. "There's not much you can do if I decide to bite you," he whispered and scraped my skin with his human dull teeth; my body tensed up in an instant as I realised that he was absolutely right. "Am I scaring you?"
I didn't know what to answer at first; my mouth got dry. "I'd rather preferred not to be your personal chew toy," I replied after a while, thinking about blood running down in the bath, probably making me pass out again and possibly drown.
He laughed. "Well that changes things." He continued to kiss my neck. "It's okay, you're safe with me," he mumbled and I slowly eased up.
We sat in silence for a while as he kissed my neck and drew lazy patterns along my upper arms with his fingers, making me shiver in a good way and not care about who walked in on us.
A bubble-bath can be so soothing and my mind wandered. "It would have been nice to meet some of your and Stefan's friends from the past. You can't have killed them all, like Lexi." My voice got a little hard when I mentioned her name. I had really liked her on the show and had wished to see more of her; she was one of the women that didn't take Damon's cocky personality.
"Forget it! If you want to know stuff, you're gonna have to go through me."
"That's sad; I would like to hear things about you without your self-hatret," I mumbled quiet and noticed that Damon jerked just a tiny bit, but I was just so relaxed that I didn't comment it.
