I feel the wind caress my face
as I sip my tea by the sill,
I look down the quiet street
waiting for time to go still.
As I place the cup down slowly
I remember your words to me
"No matter the long distance
your heart still belongs to me".
I smile and shake my head
for now you're all in the past,
maybe you were just lying
maybe we weren't meant to last.

A lone tear rolls down my cheek
as I wait for you to wipe it off
that's when I remember you left
for my love wasn't good enough.
As I finish this cup of tea
I'm reminded of your quirks,
"I just know you're safe and sound
when I observe this empty cup".
I laugh at that single memory
how crazy must I've been for you,
to believe your telepathic lies
or maybe, it was my love for you.

I stare at the beautiful horizon
wondering if you miss me too,
for I can't help but notice
the skies turn a shade of blue.
As I wipe the moist glass pane
I hear your voice in my head,
"I promise to come back soon
just, don't forget about me yet".
I look out and sigh deeply
what am I even waiting for,
you were never mine
and I, was never yours.
