Their was 2 hours left of shift when I found myself sitting outside the firehouse, I couldn't sleep and I didn't think I would be good company right now so I decided not to sit in the conmen room. Sylvie has offered to drive me to the hospital so I could be with Hailey, I don't care if she isn't awake, I'm staying until my next shift and as soon as I get off again I'll be back; even if Hailey is still not awake. I knew that if Sylvie had figured out about Hailey and I then Elle would have done too, it was kind of obvious from how I acted yesterday.

"Ambulance 61, wellness check 173 Windsor Avenue" Im the dispatchers voice came over the intercom, I got up and jumped in the passenger seat of the ambulance while I waited for Sylvie. I recognised the address from previous calls, a 18 year old girl lives their with her mother, the girl has suffered with her mental health since she was 12. Her mom works out of town alot and the girl stays home for school but her mental health can get bad, really bad infant.

"That's Lucy and her moms Laura's address" I said while Sylvie quickly climbs onto the drivers side of the ambo.

"Thought so" Sylvie points out, almost immediately she hit the gas pedal and we were off on our wellness check I was glad we had a call, I could keep myself distracted from my thoughts which at the moment were worrying and too many bad thoughts were happening, it's not good, I'm telling you that.

"I hope Lucy is okay, if I remember correctly she's just been dispatched from the psychiatric ward at Med 2 weeks ago." I recalled, I remembered that before Everything that happened we were called to do to a wellness check and Lucy tried to take her own life, she would have succeeded if her mom hadn't phoned us when she did

"I think it was 2 weeks ago she was discharged" Sylvie nodded as she agreed with me. The pair of us pulled up outside 173 Windsor Avenue and quickly I grabbed the jump bag and dashed up the steps of the house.

"Laura Winslow called for a wellness check on her daughter. We've had no response." A young police woman informed Sylvie and I, the two of us tried knocking on the door but still we did not get an answer

"This isn't good" I said worried that Lucy might have done something.

"Lucy it's Sylvie and Paige!" Sylvie shouted to see if it would get an answer but still no answer. Infact their was no sign of life in the house so I did what I had to do, I turned around and kicked the door in, being a firefighter comes in useful when being on paramedic duty's.

"The bathroom" I said to Sylvie before running up the stairs. The two police offices stayed outside. I got to the bathroom. The door was locked but I didn't want to kick the door down in case she was leant against the door.

"We can't get in, if she's in their, if she is slumped against the door or in front of the door we could hurt her" I said to Sylvie. Sylvie called for squad who came and helped us get entrance. Lucy was unconscious on the floor, she was in a pool of her own blood and her arms were cut up.

"I've got a pulse" I said immediately as I checked Lucy's pulse, it was weak but she was alive. I bandaged both of Lucy's arms while Sylvie checked everything else, soon enough we were on the road to med, after dropping Lucy off at Med we were back on the road to another call, a fire. As we arrived on the scene the fire was serious; a factory fire, I wasn't too sure what the factory was for but it still brought back memories form Otis's, he actually was teaching me Russian, I wasn't doing very well at learning it though but he tried and I did learn how to say hello, goodbye and I love you.

After getting back to the firehouse an hour later than we should have Sylvie and I headed to change. It was 9am and our shift should have finished an hour ago but we weren't leaving the job half done, we wouldn't if we were firefighters so why would we when we are paramedics.

"I'll meet you at your car" I said to Sylvie before practically running into the bathroom, I only just made it into a stool before I was sick, I had no idea why I was sick but I felt fine so I decided to ignore it.

"Sorry about that" I apologised to Sylvie before we got into her car. I wasn't going to say why I had to run to the bathroom, it's not like I was unwell, I just happened to be sick.

"It's fine Paige" Sylvie reassured me, I gave her a small smile as I rested my head against the window.

"I was thinking when Hailey's recovered, me and you, we could go to Fowlerton, see your parents and have a weekend away from the city" I said to my best friend, Sylvie smiled as I mentioned Fowlerton and her parents. They were lovely people, Sylvie and I have had weekends with her parents a few times and they treated me like another daughter

"Sounds good to me. You know they ask about you; I think they miss you" Sylvie smiled

"I miss your mom and dad too. They always make me feel welcome" I said happily

"What made you think of this idea anyway?" Sylvie asked.

"I need time out of town after everything that's gone on I need an escape and where's better than my best friends home town?" I smiled running a hand through my hair.

"Well whenever your ready we'll plan our weekend" Sylvie said. This was definitely needed but I wasn't going to leave Hailey when she needs me, she helped me when I was in my recovery so I'll help her in hers. That's what people in a relationship do; they help each other with everything and anything they need help with.

I had arrived at the hospital, said goodbye to Sylvie and promised her that if I needed anything I would phone her. After I promised her that she promised me that she would come immediately if I needed anything. I ran to where Hailey was and I mean ran which probably made me look like a mad woman but who cares I wanted to be with my girlfriend. I saw Elle sat in the chair beside Hailey and quietly entered.

"Any updates?" I asked Elle sitting in the chair opposite her while I watched Hailey's chest raise and fall as she breathed.

"She's not regained consciousness yet, the doctors have been making sure she's stable but they say she will recover and wake up. They are hopeful" Elle said to me and I nodded.

"Paige, are you and Hailey together? Is she your girlfriend?" Elle asked me and I smiled.

"Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't tell you Elle, but I didn't want people to think it's just because she was helping me recover" I said to Elle smiling a little.

"How long peanut?" Elle asked smiling.

"Since I got discharged from hospital. We were going to tell everyone tonight at Mollys, but then she got shot and Sylvie figured out something was going on between us and I'm guessing you figured out too but I couldn't cope when I saw her laying their bleeding out. When I saw her their I was terrified" I said close to tears again.

"I guessed but I'm happy for you Peanut' I'm happy that you are happy" Elle said in a gentle tone of voice

"God Elle!! Everything about Hailey makes me happy. After everything.... I think I can finally be happy" I admitted to my sister who was smiling wider than she had ever smiled; okay maybe not that wide but still her smile was wide.

"I can tell she makes you happy Peanut,    That's all I ever want for you. I want you to be happy" Elle smiled.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you about us." I apologised to my sister who nodded.

"I get it peanut, I understand why you didn't tell anyone" Elle reassures me.

"Thank you Elle" I smiled softly.

"Now i have to get to work but I'm only a call away, if theirs any changes; you call me, you call and I'll be right back here. I promise peanut" Elle said coming over to me, I stood up and wrapped my arms around my sister.

"Tell me she'll make it, that it's not as serious as it looked" I said as I pray buried my head into her shoulder.

"Hailey will make it Peanut, you got her here on time, the doctors for the bullet out and they sewed her up. Hailey lost a lot of blood but she will pull through" Elle said while she gently rubbed my back, the pair of us just stood their for a few minutes, not saying anything at all.

"I'll be back if you need me; dad will understand" Elle said when we finally pulled away.

"Thank you sis, I love you" I said

"I love you too Peanut" Elle said kissing my forehead gently. I watched Elle walk away and I sat back down and took Hailey's hand in mine, right now I didn't care if anyone at all saw me or even heard me.

"Hailey it's me. I don't know if you can hear me but I could hear things when I was unconscious or when I was in the medical induced coma but im hoping you can hear too" I paused.

"Im just going to talk to you my love" I said pausing again while gently rubbing my thumb over Hailey's hand.

"When I saw you unconscious and bleeding out I was scared to loose you, I still am scared to loose you because although you've only been my girlfriend for a few months now I know I can never imagine my life with out you in it. I've never had anyone who makes me feel this way before and I know you are the one I want to and need to spend the rest of my life with. If I'm told to choose between you and god knows who else I would always choose you, always Hailey and that's why you need to wake up, you need to wake up and come home to me. You need to wake up right now. Do you bear me Hailey Upton! You wake up because I need you." I said to Hailey even though she was unconscious I had to talk to her even if their was a chance that she couldn't hear me, talking to her was what I needed to do.

"Have you been here all day?" Natalie asked coming into Hailey's hospital room at about half 4 that afternoon. I had just been sat holding Hailey's hand, I hadn't left her side, well apart from when I had to go to the toilet but then I was only gone for not even 5 minutes

"Yeah, I'm not leaving her side. Hailey didn't leave me when I was in here myself so I'm not leaving her. never will" I exclaimed to Natalie who smiled.

"I wasn't saying you have to" Natalie said gently

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have snapped." I apologised feeling bad for the way I had reacted.

"It's fine Paige" Natalie said placing a hand on my shoulder, I smiled while not keeping my eyes off Hailey, that's when I noticed Hailey's eyes flickering open before closing almost immediately, she must be adjusting to the light.

"Hey my love; you gave us quite a scare" I said smiling a small smile once Hailey had opened her eyes again. After Natalie called Will since he was assigned her care, will finally declared that Hailey was going to be fine but they wanted to keep her in just to be safe, I was just glad that Hailey was fine but that still didn't stop me from worrying. From me struggling mentally but I could handle it, I've handled worse after all.
