Beginnings of Stonehenge
Ward's P.O.V.
As much as we would like times like my birthday to last, reality doesn't. Straight back to work the day after. The Bus took us over to England to meet with a branch of SHIELD that deals mainly with U.K. business, but it would be better to go over recent threats against the organization and see if they have any leads on specifics.
FitzSimmons were bouncing around in joy like puppies and Skye was complaining about how sore and cold she was. The soreness is natural; running a couple of miles can do that to a person. "You get used to the cold after awhile." Skye glared at me as she ran her hands down her arms to try and get her blood flowing. "Well, Robots don't get cold." Her icy tone was harsh against the wind.
We trudged along a green path to the mysterious stones ahead of us. "Jemma! Jemma! Over here!" The happy voice danced between the rocks of Stonehenge and we were confused as where they had come from. "Jemma!" A woman ran towards us and swept Jemma into open arms, pulling her into a tight embrace. Jemma grinned, "hello Mrs. Fitz." Coulson let out an audible sigh as he walked forward, leaving Skye, Fitz, Jemma, and Mrs. Fitz behind. I followed him towards the center of the circle.
Coulson looked at his watch and leaned against one ancient rock while we waited for the rest of the team. "It's going to be forever before Mrs. Fitz heads on." I nodded and looked around at the Prehistoric British monument. "I still can't figure out why these are here. Or even how these are here!" Coulson looked bored and let out a breath of mist, "Asguardian portal that they don't use anymore. At least," He looked amused at my vacant expression, "that's what Thor says. I don't think of it that way. I think they think it's funny to see humans trying to scramble around and try to understand it. Anyway, it's under SHIELD property."
Skye's P.O.V
Quite honestly, Fitz's mother could make the whole Stonehenge thing feel like we were in California in the middle of summer. She's so happy and cheery; it was easy to understand that Fitz was a total mama's boy. A.C. and Ward had gone up ahead and were waiting in the center of the rocks while Jemma and Mrs. Fitz chatted about the latest on BBC's news. Fitz leaned over to me, "she never stops talking!" He looked rather flustered, "we'll never make it to headquarters." Where's headquarters? Please no more walking.
As much as I love to see Fitz get flustered about his mom and his best friend chat about domestic stuff, we did have to get a move on. SHIELD business after all. I butted into their conversation about different types of grasses growing nearby, "it was very nice to meet you Mrs. Fitz, but Jemma, Leo, and I must get going to meet up with our," I had a split second to think, "our tour guides."
She smiled back at me, "alright Love! You're just here on a tour? That's odd, I would think you would be going to headquarters." She gave another smile before pulling Jemma into another hug, shaking my hand, and going over to her little boy. "Come here my little lion!" Fitz flushed a new shade of scarlet before hugging his mother. "See you later Mum." He kissed her on the cheek and we walked up to meet the two men waiting.
