You Thought the Fight was Over
There is a certain amount of resting one needs to do after they've been separated from their astral body for several thousand years. I had been waiting, the universe knows I had certainly been waiting. Every time a Dragonfly dies the veil between timelines and corporeal universe grows thinner, not by a lot, but it grows thinner.
After promptly gaining control of the sack of meat the female Ice-claw possess and firmly shoving her back into her own mind I growled ferociously and unsheathed my claws, digging them into the pack on the blind one's shoulders. I ripped if of him and clenched the fabric between my teeth. I had to kick other claws off of me as I made my escape. The sunlight hit my fur and I snapped out my wings and pulled myself into the air, letting my own body slime pour over the feather until they settled into the shape of webbed wings, they were much better suited for my work. The work of being much higher than these lowly creatures. I flew onwards towards the rising sun. I would get my body back, and then the real carnage would begin.

I should have seen this coming. I did see this coming I just... got so caught up in my affections being returned after about... roughly three years of waiting. I thought she was getting better, I thought I was helping her. And now now I right, it wasn't Zach. I knew. It wasn't Zach.
I stood up shakily from where she had thrown me to the side, my shoulder ached, I should be resting it. There lots of panicked screams and yelled all around me, Tenebris was getting away. I bolted after her, knowing once she hit the air I wouldn't be twice as vulnerable and half as capable. As I weaved through traffic and chased after her a familiar presence started following me.
"What's going on?" Jelu asked.
"Tenebris is back, she's got Zara."
"Tenebris?" There was a level of fear to his voice, and I felt the tunnel we ran through drop a few degrees in temperature.
"Your powers are back!" I accused, as we skidded out into the snow, I tried to focus on Tenebris' disappearing scent.
Jelu let out a small yelp of surprise. "They are!"
I pushed my nose around furiously, having lost the scent. "Jelu, where is she?"
Jelu was silent for a moment. "She's flying off."
I opened up my wings. "Then we're going after her!"
Jelu started protesting after I fell to the ground after my first attempt. "Jay, Jay stop."
I turned towards the sound of his voice. "What? Why?"
"She's long gone, we can't catch her and even if we did we can get Zara out of her with only the two of us." He explained.
I realized he was right, and grunted angrily before digging my claws into the ground. "Then what do we do?"
I could I sworn I heard his whispers twitch, he was smirking. "What we did last time, it's time to bring back The Great Beasts chosen four."
I swallowed roughly.
About an hour later we were preparing our flight over to the east, we had to clear a mountain range and a desert but we could get it down in a day and a have at least if we didn't stop for breaks. I had Jelu accompanying me, and we sent out word towards Skylark who was still on her vacation to Mountain Sound.
"I want to come." My ears flicked back as I heard Nepal, the chieftain's voice. "I'll do it right this time. We're going to war."
The surrounding claws gasped in shock. I nodded slowly. "Sir, with all due respect, prepare the battle-claws, we cannot wait for them, hopefully by the time you arrive we will not need it."
"Noted." He said before he stalked away.
"Are you ready to go?" Jelu asked me.
"Yes, come on, we've got a long flight before us." I walked off towards the entrance.
Behind me I heard the heavy paw steps of the Battle-claws and hoped beyond anything we would not need them.
Jelu and I took off, we were allowed to fly alone because I was a fully mature Meðal-claw, we were no longer the apprentices we were when we first set off. I could feel the sun on my back, and the breeze let me in on some inkling of our direction. Jelu of course always helped.
"You think they've changed at all?"
"Who?"
"The four." Jelu explained. "I know you probably didn't know them that well but they were my first best friends I think, it's a shame we fell out of contact."
"Hmm, well it has been a while." I replied, not knowing much of what to say.
"We should go to Feurige first, he'll know where everyone else is. There's no way he wouldn't. Plus he's the easiest to find."
"Good plan."
We flew in continued silenced. Jelu piped up sometimes to let me know when we were passing over certain territories, of a subtle reminder to change direction. It was all going as planned until I got the notification that we were passing over a very specific mountain range.
"Ghost Mountain." Jelu observed. "You sure you don't want to take a break? I'm really hungry."
"It's almost dinner time, we can make it a little longer." I huffed.
"Uh... Jay?"
"What?"
"There's a ghost waving us down... from the ground. I think we should land."
"Ah... well pull out my primaries, this had better be a quick stop you hear me."
I followed Jelu close as we circled down. Landing on the mountain face was hard but not impossible. I struggled and scrambled around to find a patch I could stand on but one I found the flat area everyone else had landed on, it was alright. I shook my wings and waited for Jelu to address the stranger.
"Jay, was it?" A familiar voice asked.
I relaxed as I recognized Xanthos. "Ah, yes. What's the matter your majesty? We're kind of it the middle of something here."
Xanthos scoffed. "Oh trust me, I know Tenebris is back, I want to know why, and spare me no details please."
I ground my teeth together, this was not what I needed right now. "Zara and I made a dumb decision, that's all you need to know."
I felt a distinct weight being placed suddenly on my wings as I flicked them out again. "Hold on, you didn't use some other third party darke magyk to get into the human world, did you? Please tell me you didn't."
I sighed, and I heard and exasperated noise from Xanthos direction. "Unbelievable. Okay, is Nepal gathering?"
"Yep." Jelu added, sounding vaguely confused but also like he was rolling with it.
"Then I guess I am too. It's about time we settled this once for all." He said, somewhat confident.
My ears flicked back. "You're gonna help us?"
"I'm going to help me, I also have a kingdom to run here. That thing also killed my father and I'm surprisingly still not over that."
I had to hand it to this guy, his sarcasm knew no bounds and that's something I can respect.
"That's great, all help is appreciated." Jelu chipped in merrily. "We're probably going to need it."
Xanthos sighed sharply. "I also care way too much about Zara, the dumb little punk isn't dying on my watch, Glamora help me."
I sighed with him. "I know that feeling."
"Yeah, right, okay so I assume you two are traveling east? You best be going then, I'll just have someone else fill me in."
"It was nice nesting you, your majesty." Jelu added respectfully. "Have a nice day."
"You too." Xanthos added. "Safe travels to you both.'
"Thank you." I nodded, found the edge of the ledge.
Jelu took off, then me. We rose back into the and continued towards the east, this time with another ally at our backs.
