Chapter 3: A New Friend
I feel something soft under me. I felt better than I was feeling before. I also felt...clean. What's going on? Where am I? I open my eyes. My vision was blurry at first. As soon as it cleared, I see a boy. He had light skin, had silvery hair, ice blue eyes, and nose perfect for his features. He had a pink mouth, pressed into a line. He looked...worried. As soon as he saw me wake up, he beamed.
"You're okay," he said with a smile, "Thank the skies above."
I sat up. "What happened? Where am I," I said in my own language?
He seemed to understand me. "You're in my Mom's lab in Scales Town. I found you while I was walking through the meadow nearby. You were just collapsed on the ground."
Scales Town. That's where I was. Wait! Where's my pendant? Ahh here it is. Still around my neck. Then recollection of the last few days hit me. My mother. My siblings. The reason I left. I felt tears coming in my eyes. The boy saw me crying.
"Come, now. You're safe. Everything will be alright." He picked me up and wrapped me in his arms. I looked at him. Then with tears streaming down my face, I buried my face in his green jacket. I cried, relieved to be somewhere safe. I cried, sad about my siblings. I cried, angry at my mother. I cried, from my journey to here. I cried, most of all, scared of the danger I had faced.
The boy turned to the woman in the white coat and with purple bob of hair. "Mom? I'm going to the house." She responded with a nod. Then we left the building.
When we arrived at a blue house with a red roof, the boy, carrying me in his arms, entered the house.
"Hey, you must be hungry. I'll fix you something to eat." He tried to put me down on the plush couch to the left of the living room but I gripped tighter to his jacket, unwilling to leave his warm embrace. He smiled. A warm gentle smile. Something my mom never gave me. I stopped crying. Then he went to the kitchen, carrying me, and with one arm he grabbed supplies to make food. He started preparing it and cooking it. The aroma wafted up my nose, and my mouth started to water.
When it was finished, he carried me and the food to his room. He sat down on his bed and placed me down across from him. Finally, he set the food in front of me.
"There you go. Hope you enjoy it!" He said. I looked at the food. It looked absolutely delicious. But will I like it? I looked up at him with an unsure expression.
He assured me saying, "I know it may look just slightly weird, but it's the best recipe I know. Made with fresh Oran Berries. It's an Oran Berry Pie!"
I looked at the food again. Then I took a small bite. My tongue burst with with the delicious flavor. How awesome it tasted! I took another bite bigger than the last. And another. And another. Until I was practically inhaling the food.
Alarmed, the boy said, "Slow Down! You'll choke if you keep this up!"
I continued to eat until there was one piece left. I looked at it. I was still hungry...just less hungry than before. But...I liked this boy. He showed me kindness that I didn't get to have. So I picked up the piece of pie and I handed it to him.
"I want you to have it. You deserve it!" I said still in my own language.
My gesture surprised him. "Are you sure? If you're still hungry you can have it."
I nodded. "Yes, I'm sure. Take it!"
He took it and ate it in one bite. "Thank you." He noticed the pendant around my neck. "That's a pretty pendant you have there. Where'd you get it?" He asked pointing to the pendant.
I looked at it. If I told him about my pendant I would have to tell him about my past. How can I tell him my past? Did he think I spoke his language? Or did he just understand what I was saying in my language? I had a secret that I didn't tell my former family, that I spoke English. But maybe he'll accept me if I told him? I decided to try it.
In English I said, "This--" I cringed at how little my voice sounded, "This was a gift."
If he was shocked, he concealed it very well. Then his eyes widened. "You speak English," he asked?
I nodded.
"Wow. I can't believe it. Amazing!" He took a breath and calmed down.
"If I'm going to tell you about my pendant, I have to tell you about my past. If you are willing..."
"Of course."
Then I told him about my life before. About my siblings and my mother. He listened intently, reacting to the cruelty I suffered.
"When did this all start happening?" He asked.
"A little bit after I was born. My father disappeared when my mother needed him most. He had different colored features like me. Maybe after that, my mother hated any different colored Pokemon in her generation."
"Hmm...It makes sense. But...hold on a minute." He ran to his desk and pulled out a purple device. Then ran back and plopped back on the bed. He pressed the button in the middle and a hologram (at least that's what I think it's called) appeared. It looked like...
"Mother?" I reached out and tried to touch the image. My hand slid right through. I jerked my hand back, stunned.
"Did your mother look like this?" I nodded. "Gardevoir are normally known to care deeply about their children. Will protect them even at the cost of their own life. But your mother, seems to curse you even though you are her child."
"That's right."
Then another figure appeared. It looked like...
"Father?"
"Did your father look like this? With a scar on his cheek?" I nodded again. "I think I've met your dad before."
I couldn't believe it. "How?"
"He was very injured when I met him. I healed his wounds and he told me about you. I think he wanted to save you from the cruelty you were going to face."
"That's soo sweet."
Over the course of the week, we bonded. More and more with each passing minute of it. We did everything together and he told me about Folkvar as well. I learned his name...Silver. We got closer and closer. We also trained together. I got stronger and stronger. Then a month passed. I started to feel like, we were destined to be together. Maybe we are. I finally got what I wanted. To be loved and accepted as the way I am.
