Fever
Marinette tried to lay Chat Noir on the bed.
Key word: Tried.
For a boy this skinny, he sure did weigh a lot.
Marinette groaned.
How did she get into this situation again?
Flashback
Marinette was not in a good mood.
I was raining, she was doing homework (who flipping cares what x equals?) and to top it all off, there was an insistent tapping at her window.
She groaned. If this was another akuma after her hand, she'd kill herself.
Sighing, she opened the window.
She was not prepared for what she saw.
A shivering Chat Noir, who looked very flushed, and was in the middle of a hacking cough, hunched over.
Marinette gasped.
"Chat!! Come in!! You shouldn't even be outside in weather like this!"
Chat Noir practically fell on to her floor, soaking her carpet in the process. Normally, Marinette would have been angry, but Chat was more important.
She bent down and felt his forehead.
It was hot.
Marinette didn't need a thermometer to know that this kitty was very sick.
"Chat! You should be at home! You have a fever!"
"Father...too busy...Nathalie...day off...don't have...medicine..." Chat muttered drowsily.
"You poor kitty. Just wait here, ok? I'll get some medicine."
And that was when Chat Noir fainted.
Flashback over
Finally, Marinette got Chat into the bed. Giving him a peck on the cheek(she couldn't resist), she made her way downstairs to get some medicine.
On the way downstairs, she contemplated Chat's words.
"Father...busy...Nathalie...day off..."
What kind of father was so busy he didn't have time to make sure his son was alright?
And who was Nathalie? Wasn't that the name of Adrien's father's secretary? It must be a coincidence.
Marinette shook her head, dispelling her thoughts. She would ask Chat about it when he woke up. If he didn't want to tell her, it was fine. It was his own business.
She trudged up the stairs to her room.
Chat was there, surveying the room with blurry eyes.
Marinette walked up to him.
"Chat?" she asked softly.
"Huh! I mean, sure. Yeah, I'm awake." he giggled madly.
It was obvious Chat was still half-asleep, maybe even delirious.
"Right, okay then. I'm just going to give you this medicine, okay? We'll talk in the morning when you're feeling better."
Chat stopped giggling abruptly. He had noticed the Adrien posters.
"Oooh, Mari has a crush!" he said like a 5-year-old.
Marinette blushed.
"Hehe, yeah. His name's Adrien. He's in my class. I have a crush on him." she admitted. She wouldn't usually tell Chat this, but she figured he was in a fever. What were the chances that he would remember?
Marinette, of course, forgot to think that even if Chat wouldn't remember what she said, doesn't mean she would forget what Chat said.
"Really?" Chat said childlike.
"Yeah." Marinette cracked a small smile.
"Hey Mari?" Chat asked quietly. (A/N: Just clearing this up. Chat is delirious. He has no idea what he is doing/saying.)
"Yes Kitty?"
"Can I tell you a secret?"
Marinette thought about it. This was a chance to get some juicy secrets. Marinette's inner blackmailer grinned.
"Sure, Chaton."
Chat leaned in and whispered in her ear.
"Adrien likes you too."
Marinette gasped.
"He...he does?"
Chat suddenly got up and started prancing around the room. Marinette was too stunned to stop him.
"Well, he likes you and he likes Ladybug. But he likes you!"
Marinette was on cloud nine. Her crush liked her? Her crush liked both sides of her?
But she quickly hit concrete.
"How do you know? You're delirious. It's all in your imagination."
Chat giggled. Marinette suppressed another groan. He was back to the 5-year-old.
"Mari, Mari, Mari."
Marinette was fed up. It was time for this cat to go to bed.
"That's it. Go to bed."
"But I don't wanna!" Chat pouted.
"Well, that's what you get for playing a cruel trick on me."
"But I wasn't! Adrien likes you!"
"No he doesn't!" Marinette was too angry at the moment to realise she was screaming. Luckily her parents were out of the bakery.
"But he does!"
"Doesn't!"
"Does!"
"Doesn't!"
"Does!"
"You don't even know Adrien!" Marinette screamed in frustration. Dealing with a five-year-old was not on her to-do list.
"Yes I do!"
Marinette deflated. Chat knew Adrien!? Adrien!?
"You do?"
"Yeah!" Chat nodded emphatically.
"I know everything about Adrien! From his father, to his school, to the clothes he wears! I even know his deepest, darkest secrets."
"Really! Tell me one!" Marinette liked this Chat.
"Come closer."
Marinette came closer.
"He watches anime. Especially Sailor Moon! He loves Sailor Moon! It's so awesome!"
Marinette burst out laughing. Adrien? Watching anime? She understood why he would want to hide that.
Chat interrupted her thoughts.
"But you know his darkest secret?"
Marinette got nervous. She didn't think it was proper of her to know his secrets. It seemed impolite somehow. Little secrets were all well and good, but his deepest secret? That felt wrong. She was about to say so, but Chat blurted it out anyway.
"Adrien is me!"
Marinette froze.
And Chat Noir-Adrien-promptly crumpled to the floor.
Again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marinette was hyperventilating (For those who were wondering, Chat was still on the floor).
Chat was delirious. He didn't know what he was saying! He's sick. Obviously Adrien's not Chat Noir! But they have the same hair, eyes...loads of people have blonde hair and green eyes! That doesn't mean Adrien is Chat! But how did he know so many things about Adrien? They're friends! He said so himself! But what about Nathalie...and his father...face it Marinette. Adrien is-NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE I refuse to think this. But all the evidence...
"-nette!" Marinette heard a high-pitched voice interrupt her freak-out.
"You have to get Chat into bed! His fever is high! Yes, maybe Chat is Adrien! Either way, Chat needs your help!" Tikki reminded her.
Marinette snapped to attention. Chat! He needed her help. There was time to worry later. She shoved the medicine down his throat, heaved him up, and dragged him to her bed.
She then leant on her wall and slid slowly down to the floor.
Adrien is Chat Noir. Chat Noir is Adrien.
Then she remembered what else Chat/Adrien had said.
Adrien likes you too!
Marinette squealed.
Adrien liked her!
"Tikki! Adrien likes me!" She whispered.
Tikki giggled.
"It's a perfect fairytale!"
Marinette looked at Chat snoring. He looked so peaceful-not to mention cute.
Marinette gently kissed him on the forehead.
"Sleep well, Kitty."
Chat smiled.
A/N: I'm so sorry guys! This was crappy as well, I know. I'll make it up to you.
