United Kingdom, Here Comes O'Connor
Previously in Little O'Connor...
"It's a vow I make to you." I breathe out against her lips. "You'll always be my Tiger, my flower, and all the nicknames I call you." Sarah chuckles lightly. "Carter Alvarez, the Mafia's most cheesy man." I smirk as she kisses the corner of my lip. I fall to lay flat on my back and pull her with me, making her lay against my chest. "I love you Carter."
Sarah falls asleep rather quickly against my bare chest. I reluctantly moved her to my side and got up to remove my pants. Sarah stirs lightly at the loss of body heat. Rather than putting on sweats, I quickly slid back into the bed to not wake my sleeping girlfriend. She settles back to sleep once I wrap my arms around her again. Her breath lightly hits my neck as she nuzzles her face into the nape. I sigh laying there lost in my thought before sleep consumes me as well.

Carter rubs his head trying to process the news Liam has just thrown on him over the phone.
"Are you sure?" He grumbles holding the phone to his ear, pacing in the office. "I can't just drop everything and come home after everything that just happened." Liam sighs on the other end.
"Look, I understand that the Dante situation is dangerous, but if you don't show up to Buckingham Palace for the Gala, people are going to talk Carter. They're already skeptical about how the businesses are running without you being here. We are looking vulnerable right now, and we cannot afford that." Carter runs his hand through his hair as he continues to process all of Liam's words. "Carter, the rivals are paying attention too, if they catch wind that you've been MIA and their suspicions are confirmed if you're not there, they will take advantage."
Carter looks up when he hears the office door open and sees Sarah walk in with a cup of coffee for him. Sarah looks at his frustrated expression and raises a brow setting down the cup of coffee. "I know Liam. I'll be there...I'll fly out tonight." He rubs his temple as Sarah takes a seat in his lap, rubbing his back. He looks at her giving her a small smile. "Actually...WE will be flying out tonight." He says looking at her. Sarah looks at him bewildered. "Sarah will be joining me as my plus one for the Gala." She continues to stare at him dumbfounded.
"Perfect. I'll set everything up for you both. I'll see you in London." Liam hangs up and Carter looks at Sarah. "First off where are we going, second...why am I going?!" She says getting up and handing him his coffee. "Sorry, my love. I should have asked. But I have to attend the annual Gala in London." He sighs. "As much as I don't want to see my father right now, I have to go since I lead the Mafia." Sarah glares slightly. "Okay, but I can't just get up and leave Carter, especially since we are trying to keep an eye out for Dante." Carter takes her hand and looks at her with pleading eyes. "Please, I don't want to leave you alone here, especially with the risk of him finding us. I would not be going if it was not important. But I have to, with suspicions on the rise that I have been hiding, I have to make a show at this Gala."
Sarah sighs biting her lip thinking about it before looking at him. "Fine...I'll go with you." Carter sighs in relief kissing her hand. "Thank you. We will leave tonight. They have chartered a plane for us." Sarah nods. "Well...I'm gonna let the team know." Carter pulls her down planting a small kiss on her lips before she leaves the office.
Carter's POV
I sit back in the office chair taking a deep breath. I not only dragged Sarah into going with me, but now she has to meet my parents against my own will. I rub my face thinking about how this encounter and trip could go.
I start packing my things in my room with my mind racing so much that I didn't even notice Han walking into the room. "Carter?" my attention snaps to him. "Bro you good?" He chuckles sitting down, eating some peanuts. "Yeah. I'm doing splendidly." I mumble sarcastically. "What? Not happy about your random trip back home?" I sigh sitting next to him taking some peanuts from him when he offered. "Like I said. I try to not affiliate myself with my parents...and now I have to see them when I go there. Sarah has to meet them." Han nods. "Well on the bright side, you won't have to be around them all the time since you will be staying at a hotel." He smirks slightly looking at me. "What?" I look at him confused. "You know what I mean." He teases me further. My eyes widen slightly looking at him. I nudge him causing him to laugh. "Come on, no shame in some sexy time." I shake my head at him getting up to close my suitcase. "That is a very personal matter Han." I tease him back. "Oh really? Didn't seem personal the night you went to stake out the club before the plan." I feel the heat rising to my face as I turn red from embarrassment. He pats my back. "Just cause I was all the way on the other side of the bunker...I heard some of it." He winks at me before walking out. I groan falling onto the bed.
Sarah walks in looking at me raising a brow. "Hey. You finish packing?" I sit up watching her place the plate with my lunch on the side table. I nod sighing. "I know you're not super excited to go back, Carter. But it's business." I take a bite of the sandwich she made me and savor the taste. "I will miss the food for sure." She smiles running her hand through my hair. "I know I was pissed about it earlier. But I wanna be there for you since it'll be your first time home in a while." I nod. "I'm sorry for this coming out of nowhere. I thought Liam would be able to handle it but my father was really insistent that I be there." I grumble taking a bite of my sandwich. "Did you eat?" Sarah nods at me. "Yes, I was waiting for you to finish packing before I bought you yours. What time do we leave?" She says getting up. "7 PM." She smiles. "Good, I'm gonna start packing my things. What dress should I pack?" I shake my head looking at her. "I had one tailored last minute for you specifically for the theme of the Gala." She just blinks at me before a slight tint of red surfaces on her cheeks. "You, um, you know my dress size?" I smirk licking my lip. "I know more than that." She clears her throat getting flustered. "Well...I'm.." She trails off walking backwards before running into the wall. "I'm gonna go pack." She rushes out. I laugh loudly at her reaction. I quickly finish my sandwich and head over to her room to bother her more.
I peek into her room. She's distracted with packing as I slowly make my way in and snake my arms around her. "Hey, Carter." She chuckles. "Nice try." She looks at me slightly. "I have no developed senses that prevent me from getting startled." She giggles slightly as I softly kiss her cheek. "Mmm." I pick up a black lace boy short that's resting on her bed. "Is this coming with?" She snatches it from my hand. "No! Now it's not." She throws it to the side. I raise my hands up in defense before slowly sneaking it into my pocket. "Carter. Can you let me pack?" She says keeping me from looking in her luggage. "What are you hiding?" I ask curiously peering over her shoulder. She shuts her suitcase leaving me in the dark. "It's just clothes, Carter." She says teasingly kissing the corner of my mouth. "Go get ready to leave soon." She pushes me out of the room. I chuckle. "Okay okay...I'm going."
Sarah's POV
I pack the rest of my things and double-check my weapons before stashing them in my bag. "London...last time I was in the UK it ended up with a plane coming down." I mumble to myself taking a deep breath, grabbing my luggage. I head out to the living room to see Carter waiting for me patiently. "Ready?" He asks coming to take my bag. I nod. "As ready as I will ever be." I smile hugging Han. "Do not get too crazy, I expect the bunker to be in shape when I get back or you're grounded." I joke. Han plays along. "I promise Mom, I won't throw a rager." Carter chuckles lightly. I follow him out to the car and slide into the passenger seat.
Carter starts driving and steals a few glances at me. I could tell he was nervous. "Carter...I'll be fine." He sighs. "I know...I just don't know how I feel facing my father." He mumbles clutching my hand slightly tighter. I bring it up and sprinkle his knuckles with kisses. "I'll have your back." He smiles and continues to drive.
We get to the private plane pretty quickly and board upon arrival. Carter offers me a glass of champagne as we take off. "No beer?" I tease him. He laughs sitting next to me. "Sorry, only the classiest drinks on this flight." I raise the glass up. "I feel very very sophisticated Mr. Alvarez." I took a sip eyeing him teasingly. He shifts a little in his seat. "It's going to be a long flight. Make yourself comfortable." His voice comes out husky. I nod. "I will." I wink leaning back in my seat. Carter starts pouring himself another glass of champagne. "Not a fan of flying?" I chuckle taking the bottle and pouring myself some. "No, just maybe if I arrive drunk, it might be easier." He mumbles. I sigh shaking my head. "You do not wanna be drunk, it'll make things worse babe." Carter downs the glass and tries to grab the bottle. "Uh uh...I am not gonna let you get drunk. I want you in all your senses." He glares at me. "Sarah." He growls trying to grab it. "Carter." I mock him.
"Listen, you wanted me to come along and I'm here. The least you could do for me is not get off this flight hung over!" I say sternly getting up to hand the bottle to the flight attendant. Carter grabs my arm and pulls me into him. "Fine." He mumbles resting his forehead on my shoulder as I sit in his lap. I slowly start to massage his head to get him to relax. "Maybe you should sleep. It'll help keep you relaxed." I whisper as he grumbles. "That feels nice. Your fingers work magic. " I smile and continue to massage his head. He leans his head back closing his eyes. I slowly get off his lap after he falls asleep sighing. The flight attendant comes by handing me a glass of champagne winking. "Thought you may need this." She smiles lightly. "Thank you. Does he normally get drunk before facing any issues?" She nods shrugging. "Sometimes, mostly just when he has to go see his father. That's when he is usually hungover." I sigh opening up my laptop. "He reminds me of someone I used to know. he didn't like seeing his family either, mostly because they didn't support him." I smile lightly remembering how Dimitri would react. "Thank you for this." I nod at her. "My name is Lucy, just call if you need anything."
A few hours pass by while I am focused on my laptop and finding Dante's next possible location. I slam it shut letting out a frustrated sigh. "Nothing?" I jump a little in my seat before looking up at Carter. "Well hey, there sleeping beauty." I mumble rubbing my head. "No, nothing. It's like he fell off the face of the earth. We haven't been able to get into God's Eye either." Carter strolls over to me taking my laptop. "Mmm...well where we are going, no work." I reach out to grab it. "Please Sarah." He says putting it in his bag. "I won't have Jesse..." He trails off before continuing. "To keep me calm and on my feet." My glare faulters and I soften my eyes. "Carter...I'm sorry." He shakes his head taking a deep breath in an attempt to keep his composure. "You should get some sleep." He kisses my head placing a blanket over me. "We'll land in a few hours." I nod complying with his request as he puts an arm around me, bringing my head to his chest. I finally let my exhaustion hit and I fall asleep.
I wake up to the smell of food and immediately sit up. Carter looks over at me before he starts to laugh. "I'm starving!" I groan as he teases me. "I know what would fill you up." He smirks with a mischievous glint in his eyes. I take a dinner roll and stuff it in his mouth. "I know what will fill you up." I mock him before thanking Lucy for her hospitality. Carter takes the rolls out of his mouth taking a bite. "Someone's grumpy." He mumbles. "I'm hangry." I respond spooning a mouthful of food in my mouth. He laughs lightly wiping some sauce from the corner of my lip. "We will be landing in about 30 minutes." He sighs taking a bite of his food. I kiss his cheek lightly. "I'll be there every step of the way." I whisper fixing his hair. We continue to eat quickly and get changed into more formal and presentable clothes for when we face Carter's Parents before the pilot announces our descent.
Once we land Carter threads his hand in mine, keeping a tight grip on my hand as we get into the car that was sent for him. "Carter, relax take some deep breaths." He nods listening to my instruction and starts taking deep breaths. "We've got this." He nods motivating himself. "Where is your favorite place here in London?" I ask trying to get his mind off. "Easy, the clubs here are nice. but fish and chips, I have a specific spot which I have grown fond of." He smiles talking about it. "It's where I used to go when I snuck out to indulge myself." I laugh lightly. "Last time i was here, we didn't get to explore much. Owen Shaw was our sole focus." He nods. "Ah yes, my father made a deal with him, a stupid one." He grumbles. "Okay okay...any other places you love?" He looks over at me. "Actually there is. It's more private, I went there for some alone time to help me get my mind off." He rubs my hand with his. "I've never actually taken anyone there. But maybe I'll show you." I blush lightly smiling looking out the window when we reach a gate. "Damn, nice place." I look at the huge mansion that comes into view. Carter tenses slightly at the sight. "I haven't lived here in years. I bought my own place after I left this god-forsaken one." He mutters. The driver opens the door for him. "Welcome back sir." Carter just nods authoritatively and slides out, fixing his suit upon standing. He holds his hand out for me. I slide to the door and take his hand softly.
We are immediately met by multiple guards, the butler, and some maids. They all look at Carter before respectfully looking down. Carter wraps his arm around my waist as we start walking. "Just follow my lead." He whispers in my ear as we step inside. I nod smiling lightly. "I'm fine Carter, you're the one I'm worried about." I whisper back, keeping my voice low. Carter squeezes my waist lightly in a way to reassure me.
"Carter darling, is that you?" I look towards the lady who's dressed very formally, visibly much older than Carter and I.
"Hello, Mother." Carter greets her with a small hug when she hugs him. I stand back as the woman has him embraced. She pulls away once she looks at me. "And who's this?" She eyes me from head to toe. I keep myself from doing the same. Carter clears his throat and pulls me up next to him. "Mother, this is Sarah O'Connor...my girlfriend." I hold my hand out for her to shake. "Nice to meet you, Mrs. Alvarez." She just nods shaking my hand as her eyes continue to judge me. "Girlfriend? Carter last time I checked your father had a woman picked out for you." Carter and I tense and he tightens his grip on my hand. "Father does not make choices for me anymore." He growls.
I clear my throat rubbing his back. "Mrs. Alvarez, my team is also helping Carter with the Dante situation." She just glares at me. "Ah...so you're the girl Jesse died for." She grits. I pause looking away from her. "That's enough mother!" Carter raises his voice slightly. I immediately rub his back. "Carter, it's okay. Relax." He huffs out letting himself relax under my touch. "Mrs. Alvarez, Dante Reyes is trying to kill us all, any chance he gets, he is attacking. Can we please drop this subject at this time, for Carter's sake?" I stand up for myself as well as Carter. She just sighs. "Fine, your father is waiting to see you, come." Carter and I follow her closely. She opens the door to the office. "Maria, is Carter here?" I hear a gruff male voice ask. "Yes John, he's here." She mumbles letting us in. Carter pulls me closer to him as his father looks up. "Carter, son come sit. But can your...friend here wait outside?" Carter chuckles dryly. "No, she will be with me at all times." His father raises a brow looking at him. "Carter, you know Stephanie is waiting for you. So you need to drop your little whores and come marry her." His father sneers looking at me in disgust. Before Carter can say anything I speak up.
"What the fuck did you just call me?" I growl strolling up to his desk and square up. "I'm your son's girlfriend you blind old man." He just stares at me blankly. "No, you're not. My son has never had a relationship last." He smirks. "Yeah well, he's makin' this last pretty well. So listen here Mr. Alvarez, whoever the fuck this Stephanie is, better keep her little dumbass away my man. Or else she's gonna end up in a hole." I poke a finger into his chest before moving away and smoothing out my dress. Carter and Mrs. Alvarez stand behind me, looking at me bewildered. "A woman should only speak when she is told to speak." He growls. Carter tries to pull me back. "And a man like you should be taught a fucking lesson. I speak when I want to speak, I choose what I want to do, I choose who I wanna fuck and who I don't, I am a human being, not a goddamn toy. I am not your wife." Carter clears his throat holding back a laugh. "You may have control over her because you have no respect for women. But sir, I will put you in your place. You treat your son and wife as if they're your puppets. Grow up." Mr. Alvarez stands up with wide eyes and looks at Carter. Carter shrugs smirking.
Carter's POV
"That's right Father, did you forget I don't let you control my life anymore, more or less get to choose whom I marry and whom I don't." I say proudly pulling Sarah into my chest as she continues to face my father. "Father, meet my GIRLFRIEND, Sarah O'Connor." My father tenses a little looking at me before his eyes shoot towards Sarah. "You're one the people who took down Hernan Reyes and Owen Shaw." Sarah nods. "Yes, sir." My father immediately gestures for her to sit before turning his attention toward me. "Shall we talk about the Gala?" I nod taking a seat next to Sarah. "I want you to give the speech this year as always. Remember our rivals will be there as well." I nod listening to my father speak. "Of course. I have all the precautions set already Father." My father looks taken aback by my response. "I never told you to do that." I nod grinning. "I have the responsibility now, remember. I don't need your permission to execute plans and layouts Father." My father growls before shooting me a glare. "Is she also responsible for your attitude?" He comes around and grabs Sarah out of the chair. "What have you done to my son?!" He yells at her. Sarah balls her fists but holds back.
"That's enough Father!" I yell yanking him away from her. "The only reason why you are still standing is 'cause she knows you're my father, or you would be on the ground with the wind knocked out of you!" I get in his face seething with rage. "You do not touch her! You do not raise your hands on her! You have no right to treat her like you treated me!" Sarah pulls me back slightly. "Carter breathe. It's okay." She tries to calm me down. "No! It's not! All my life I have been running instead of saying this in his face." I get out of her grip and look down at my father. "I am so sick and tired of you trying to have control over everything! I will not be treated like a doll. Your abuse when I was a child! You continued to hit me!" I yell in his face. My mother comes to his side immediately. "Carter! He is your father!" I laugh sarcastically. "And you Mother, don't even get me started! You let him abuse me! You let him throw me around until I bled!" Sarah tries to pull me back. "And now you wanted to judge my girlfriend and my choice of women when Stephanie has slept with half the men in our mob!" I look between the two. "Mother you always had his side, even when I stood up for you! He abuses you and you just sit there and take it!" My mum looks at me but doesn't say anything. "Whatever type of sick love this is, I don't want anything to do with it." I spit out.
"Carter!!!" Sarah raises her voice getting me to stop. I snap my gaze at her. "Calm down..." She hugs me from behind. My father stares at her surprised. I immediately relax as she holds me. "Relax baby, you said everything you needed to." She mumbles. She steps forward looking at my estranged parents. "Mr. and Mrs. Alvarez. Please try to understand where he is coming from. He never felt loved...he had a hard time finding himself and controlling his impulses." Sarah looks back at me. "He can make his own choices, as well as take care of himself. He doesn't need you to control his mind and choices. Family is supposed to be about love, support, and undeniable care. At least that's how my brother raised me. My family may not all be blood, but we care, we love, and we would die for each other." My mother's eyes soften and she looks down. "Carter has the Gala planned out. It's a solid layout, his speech is prepared, and the men follow him. Just trust him please." She looks at my father with pleading eyes. "I understand you're not thrilled seeing me here Mr. Alvarez, more or less as your sons' girlfriend. I was shocked when he asked me to tag along. I am here to keep him safe, to keep him from losing his temper. I am here to support him."
My father grimaces slightly at the word 'girlfriend' but reluctantly nods. "Fine...I will trust him." He mumbles. "I will inform Stephanie you have a date and will no longer be betrothed to her." I sigh in relief. Sarah looks at him gratefully. "Thank you Mr. Alvarez. but yes...please do not ever put your hands on me again." Sarah narrows her eyes. My father just scowls walking out of the room with my mother following close behind. I take Sarah's hand and quickly pull her with me. "Carter!" She gasps as I pull her along, practically dragging her to the car. "You're in a hurry to get out of here." She laughs as I slide in next to her.
"Drive to the hotel." I order the driver before grabbing her close and smashing my lip against her. She tenses up at the sudden action but relaxes kissing me back, moaning slightly against my lips. I pull away resting my forehead against hers. "You were incredible." I breathe out. "God that was fucking hot." I groan pulling her into another fiery kiss. She pulls away slightly. "The driver is watching." She mumbles against my lips before pulling away. Her face is flushed from our session and her hair is slightly disheveled. "I'm sorry, but the way you stood up for me, it was a turn-on." The driver clears his throat. Sarah punches my arms lightly. I smirk kissing her neck teasingly. "Carter." She warns me. "Just wait till we get to our room." I whisper taking her hand and putting it on the bulge between my legs. She smirks licking her lip teasingly. The car comes to a stop. The driver opens the door without meeting our eyes, obviously flustered by our encounter in the car.
I walk into the hotel. "Mr. Alvarez. Your room is ready." The receptionist says eyeing me. I nod taking Sarah's hand. She looks at our hands before looking back at her screen. "Here are your key cards. Your bags were already taken." She mumbles. "Thank you." I smirk pulling Sarah with me to the elevator. "Geez Carter, my arm will pop out of its socket." She laughs. I eagerly press the button for the top floor. "You do realize I'm going to shower first right?" She says putting her key card in her bag. "Then I'll join you." She shakes her head. "Absolutely not." I groan. "Please? My dick is starting to hurt." Sarah looks down. "Yeah no, I need to get clean, and then I have something special for you." She kisses my jaw as the elevator door opens. I head to our room door. Sarah beelines it to the bathroom in the suite with her bag and locks the door before I can catch her. "You sly minx!" I yell so she can hear me. I decide to use the second restroom in the suite and get cleaned up. I strip from my suit and jump into the shower letting the water hit and relax my muscle. I wash off the smell of the plane and step out wearing a towel around my waist. I head over to our room and stop dead in my tracks. My mouth goes dry at the sight of Sarah as I walk out of the bathroom.
"Holy shit..." I gasp as Sarah sits on the bed on her knees staring at me teasingly. She bites her bottom lip taking me in. "Hey there." She giggles at my reaction. I take in the black laced lingerie she has on. "Fucking hell Sarah." I quickly make my way over to the bed. She places her hand on my chest. "Remember how you had said you didn't oppose to toys." She says quietly looking over at the side table. I look over and see a vibrator. I pick it up smirking. "Well, this is very very special. You in this beautiful lingerie and a vibrator." I drop my towel and climb over her. "Do you see how hard I am 'cause of you Tiger?" I whisper in her ear as she kisses my neck slowly leaving her mark on it. I grab her face gently and slam my lips on hers. she moans lightly against my lips as my hands explore her body. I pull back and admire her beautiful figure as my fingers find their way to her clit. "Damn, you're wet." I groan out kissing her neck.
I take the vibrator and switch it on to a medium setting, taking her panties off, and start teasing her clit with it. She gasps, gripping the sheet, and arching her back. "Carter, that feels good." She moans out. "Mmm...since you're still talking let's turn the heat up shall we?" I set the vibrator to the highest setting. Her body squirms under me. I keep my legs between hers to keep her from closing it. "You look amazing like this baby." I smirk as I insert the vibrator into her entrance. She throws her head back moaning loudly. "Fuck, I need to be inside you." I growl throwing the vibrator aside. I pick her up and bring her to my lap, kissing her while I take her bra off and start massaging her breast. "Carter, please." She breathes out resting her forehead against mine. I fall onto her as I push her back onto the bed and quickly thrust myself into her. "SHIT, CARTER!" She yells out arching her back. I lean my head against her shoulder as I thrust into her swiftly. "I got you baby." I whisper in her ear as I continuously spew sweet nothings to her. I bring myself up to look into her eyes, giving her small kisses as I quicken my pace. "Carter..." She moans out wrapping her legs around my waist as her hips meet mine.
Her arms cling to my neck as she keeps her eyes on me. "I love you so much." She breathes out as her walls start tightening around my dick. She comes with a small scream as pleasure courses through her. "God, you're perfect." I groan out as I release myself into her. She collapses back onto the bed as she rides her high out. I look over at her, pushing some hair from her face. "I love you." I whisper smiling. She looks at me grinning. "You're mine..." She mumbles placing a soft kiss on my lips. I feel something wet hit my face as she pulls away. I touch my cheek and look up at her. "Sarah, why are you crying?" I sit up quickly and wipe her tears, holding her face. "Was that too much? Did I go overboard?" I panic slightly. She frantically shakes her head. "No, that was amazing...I just, I never thought I'd fall in love again. I don't want your dad to take that away from me." She sniffles lightly. "God, I'm so dumb for crying." I kiss her head and hold her close. "No, you're not my love. Stephanie can fuck off. My father clearly has an infatuation with her." Sarah giggles lightly hiding her face in my chest. "She's obsessed with me." I groan. Sarah pulls back and looks at me. "Yeah well, she better stay the fuck away before I lay one on her." She huffs. I chuckle at her possessiveness.
"Let's get some sleep." Sarah nods laying her head on my chest as I lay back down. She falls asleep quickly. I follow quickly after, letting the darkness overtake me.

Sarah's POV
I shift a little against Carter's sleeping body and wake up to look at the time. It was only 6 AM. I lay my head back against his chest before deciding to shuffle out of bed. I pull the covers over Carter's bare chest and head to the shower. I let the water hit my skin washing off any sticky residue from last night's activities. I let the suds wash off and turn the water off, stepping out and wrapping a fresh towel around me. I turn around to bump into Carter's chest. "Jesus! Carter.." I mumble as he laughs. "Sorry, my love." I push him lightly. "You're a dick." He smirks lightly. "Yeah well, you love this dick." He winks before hopping into the shower. I shake my head and start to brush my teeth and was my face. "I'll be taking you out to explore London before the Gala tonight." Carter yells over the running water. "What time is the Gala? and when do I get my dress for it?" Carter peeks his head out. "It starts at seven in the evening. My driver will bring our attires." I nod shuffling through my luggage to pull out my royal blue tank top and jeans. I slip on my clothes and patiently wait for Carter, flipping through the channels on the TV.
Carter steps out as I keep looking at the TV. "Geez, I usually don't watch television, but these shows and channels suck." I watch him walk over to his luggage and pulls out a hoodie and jeans. "Blue hoodie to match my lady." He winks. I roll my eyes. "Oh god, Please don't tell me we will be that one couple that everyone hates." I laugh as Carter gasps. "Absolutely not!" I giggle lightly fixing his hair as he stares at me. "I'm serious about what I said last night." I claim, looking at him. "Stephanie better stay the fuck away. Cause you manage to look good in this shit too. How the hell do manage to smell so good?" He growls playfully biting my cheek. "I'm sure you'll scare her away." He says pulling away. I take his cologne from his hand and spray it on my wrist before dabbing it on me. He chuckles. "What I wanna smell like sage and cedarwood." I spray him with some and put it back in his luggage. "You smell amazing, like strawberries and jasmine." He smiles sniffing my neck. "Okay, now that's just weird." I grab my phone and head to the door. "Let's go, Carter, I'm starving!" Carter sprints out of the room and shuts the door.
We head out of the hotel and start walking to the nearest café. "Stay close." He whispers in my ear as a few young boys walk by eyeing me. "Carter, I think I can take down a few babies." He chuckles moving to my left side as we walk. "Men here are very..." He tries to think of a more appropriate word. "Sexually driven?" I shake my head. "So perverted?" He shrugs and nods. "Are you perverted?" I tease him poking his rib. He tenses slightly before pouting his lips a little. "I'm kidding baby." I wink walking into the café. "Ahhh...the smell of fresh coffee." I take in the scent and sigh in contentment. We walk up to the register. "Good morning, how can I help you?" The barista greets us. "Hey there. I'll have a black coffee with sugar and my male friend here would like a caramel latte." Carter looks at me raising a brow. "Damn, you have my drink down?" I roll my eyes. "I made your coffee for almost a week straight, remember?" He chuckles paying for the coffee. I go over to a vacant table and take a seat as Carter waits for our coffees. I scroll through my phone and check my messages. "Well hello there." I look up at the man who greeted me. "Well, aren't you a pretty one?" He sits down in the free chair. "Sorry, that seats taken." I roll my eyes and continue to scroll on my phone. "Now, don't be like that." He pushes my phone down. "Don't touch my shit." I stare at him blankly. "What's a pretty girl like you doing here alone." I give him a dry laugh. "I'm not alone you idiot. I'm here with my boyfriend." He looks around. "I don't see him." I get up and lean in close. "Are you asking to get your ass beat?" I glare at him.
"Cute." He smirks. I look over to Carter walking over. I smirk. "Hey babe." The man laughs. "You think I'm falling for that?" I shrug. "Hey, Tiger." Carter looks at me before looking at the man. The man tenses and stands up immediately turning to face him. "Mr. Alvarez!" He looks between me and Carter. "Surprise bitch." I say taking the coffee from Carter and taking a sip. "Mr. Jackson, shouldn't you be running the coffee shop rather than flirting with girls?" Carter looks at him sternly keeping his authority. "More or less a girl who hasn't had her morning coffee?" I raise my brow at this, Mr. Jackson. "Yes sir. I'm so sorry sir." He starts to scurry away but Carter catches his arm and pushes him against the wall. "Never, never go flirting with women who are clearly not interested. Especially one that is mine." He nods rapidly as Carter lets him go. He runs past us to the back. I start laughing out loud as Carter looks at me amused. He holds out a breakfast sandwich for me. "For my crazy person." He chuckles as I take it. "When did you get these?" I ask taking a bite. "After you took a seat. We need to be ready to stroll around." He smiles. "I don't want you on an empty stomach." I smile at his thoughtfulness. We quickly eat and down our coffees.
Carter pulls me with him keeping his arm draped around my shoulder as we walk. "Okay, where are we going now?" I ask looking around the small town. "Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire." Carter replies smiling. "Shakespeare was born there." I nod at him impressed. "You're a history buff?" I look at him in astonishment. "That's cute." I smile taking his hand in mine. He remains silent as his cheeks turn a slight tinge of pink. We finally make it to the small town. "Wow." I breathe out looking at the harbor ahead of us. "This is beautiful." I walk over and stand there looking at the boats peacefully floating and taking in the scenery. "Carter?" I turn to see him taking pictures of me. I chuckle. "Well, if you're gonna take pictures, take some with me." I smile lightly holding my hand out. "You just looked amazing gazing out at the water." He says walking over, holding his phone out for a selfie. I smile as he kisses my cheek taking the picture. "I said it once. I'll say it again. You sir are a hopeless romantic. The person I least expected to be." He lets out a breathy laugh. He takes my hand and continues to stroll with me. I stop at a small shop and browse around as Carter is talking to one of the vendors. I look at all the jewelry and stop at the necklaces and rings. The jeweler walks up.
"Hello. Would you like to see anything?" I look up from the small silver chain with a sapphire gem. "No, just browsing. Are these all handmade here in the shop?" The old jeweler smiles. "Yes, ma'am they are. They are all one a kind." I look at him. "How long have you been doing this?" I ask curiously looking back down as he pulls out the necklace I was looking at. "35 years. I started this shop with my wife. Now me and my daughter run it together." I listen to his story intrigued. "How do you come up with such beautiful designs?" I run my finger lightly over the delicate chain of the necklace. "It comes as I go." He smiles taking my hand with his shaky one. "Is that your husband taking pictures of us?" I look back confused and see Carter standing there with his phone. I laugh lightly. "That's my boyfriend..." I trail off. I never thought about marriage after Dimitri. I'm fearful of what could happen. "I'm sorry, did I say something wrong dear?" I snap my attention back and look at him. "No no, sorry...I just haven't thought about marriage in a very long time." I give him a small smile as Carter walks up. "We should get going. I wanna check out some of the other shops." I quickly give Carter a big smile. "Why don't you run along? I'm gonna check out the shop next door." I nod saying my goodbyes to the shop owner and walk to the little stands outside.
I buy some fresh fruits to snack on as we continue our little tour. I wait for Carter outside munching on my strawberries. "Now I see why you taste like strawberries." I choke a little at his statement. He laughs walking over to me. "Really Carter?! Out loud?!" I punch his arm. "Let's go." I look at the bags in his hand. "What did you get?" He smiles. "Just some little things to take back to Los Angeles." I hand him an apple as we continue our walk. "So...are you going to tell me where we are going next?" I ask watching him bite into his apple. He looks at me grinning. "Well, first lunch, and then my special place." I gasp taking his hand. "Wait you're seriously taking me there?" He chuckles nodding. "You're my person, you will be the person I take there." He says letting my hair down from my bun. After a few more minutes of walking, I take in the scent of delicious food. "Here we are. It's not much but I consider this place to have the best fish and chips." Carter says pulling me along with him. He places our order as I take a seat and wait. I smile looking at how eager he is. He walks over smirking. "Like what you see?" I roll my eyes and shake my head. "You're cute when you're so excited." He sighs sitting down. "London isn't all bad I guess, there are some good memories." He says playing with my bracelet. "I love it so far...the small places all have a long history. It's peaceful." Carter looks through the photos on his phone. "You better send me those pictures." He smiles nodding. "Nah I think I will keep them to myself." He teases as the food is set down. I nod at the waitress in appreciation.
As I reach out to tear a piece, Carter grabs my plate. "Hey!" I scoff. I watch him tear a piece and put a little vinegar and sauce on it. "Just preparing the perfect bite." He hands it to me and urges me to try it. I take the bite and immediately am hit with a nice tang of vinegar and tarter sauce, then the delicious flavor of the flaky tender, crispy fish. "Oh, my god..." I slump in my chair. "How can I go home when I know this exists?!" Carter laughs. We continue to chat and eat. "You seem very close with the people around here." Carter nods. "I used to come here as an escape and spend hours at the markets. Honestly, this place was more of my home." He smiles. "I'm glad you had somewhere to get away from all the stress and tension." I sigh looking at him. "You never really told me about your family." He says looking at me.
I bite my lip anxiously, before taking a deep breath. "Brian raised me honestly...I don't really remember my parents...especially my dad." Carter gives me all his attention, looking at me intently. "My dad left us when I was pretty much a baby. My mom was never really home. Brian took care of me and got me into school." I chuckle lightly. "He was my dad, mom, and brother basically. But there are days when I wonder what it would have been like to have loving parents. Where would we be?" Carter looks down a little. "But, I wouldn't change a thing. Because I have a family now. Dom, Letty, Mia, the kids, the team, Dimitri, and Brian. They became my family." I smile. "And I met you." He blushes lightly but keeps his eyes locked with mines. "Do you ever wish Dimitri was still here?" I look at him not knowing how to answer immediately. "Sometimes..." I shake the tears from my eyes. "Crazy to think we would have been married today if he was. Maybe I would have met you under different circumstances but you wouldn't mine." Carter sighs taking my hand in his. "The other day, Han asked me if I believe in fate. At the time I didn't till I thought about it. I believe it was fate that bought us together. Two broken people searching for closure." He squeezes my hand lightly. "I thought about his words, and I truly think it wasn't our faith but Dimitri's." I clear my throat and look at him. "He always wanted the best for you. I know I'm not the best...but I'll try." He kisses my hand. I smile and keep my tears from falling. "Thank you, Carter."
We finish eating pretty quickly and head out to his next location. He stops and turns to me taking out a blindfold. "I need to put this on you before I take you there." I raise my brow. "Carter...that's hella suspicious." He scratches the back of his neck shrugging. "I want to surprise you." He says reaching behind me and wrapping the blindfold over my eyes. He holds my shoulder and starts to carefully lead me there. "Almost there." he whispers in my ear. He stops abruptly. "Carter?" I reach for the blindfold. But before I can slip it off, he takes it off and steps back. I blink as my eyes adjust to the light. I stand there speechless taking in the small open field. "This is a dream..." I walk forward and take in the horses running around. "No one else knows about this?" I look at him. He shakes his head. "As far as I know. The only way I know to get there is through these small woods." He says as his knuckles graze my cheek lightly. I close my eyes taking in all the surrounding sounds. "It's so peaceful...quiet, you only hear nature." Carter rubs my arm. I look at him a little before looking at the open field, getting the urge to run through it. "Sarah? What are you thinking?" He asks immediately reading my expression. I just grin turning towards him and walking backwards. "Sarah..." His voice warned me. With that, I turn around and start sprinting into the field laughing loudly. "COME ON LIVE A LITTLE!!!!!" I yell as I continue to sprint. I spin around jumping to see Carter coming at me at full speed. "Shit!" I start to run again with him hot on my trail.
"Come here Flower!" He laughs trying to catch me. I laugh wildly for the first time in a long time as I run. Carter catches me by the waist before tackling me to the ground, catching his breath. "I got you." He leans in as I smile like a little kid on Christmas. He catches my lips with his and kisses me softly. "I see why Dimitri liked to chase you, Tiger." He says threading my hand with his. All of a sudden I feel a raindrop on my face. "Oh no..." Carter gets up as it starts to pour down on us. I stand up letting the rain hit my face, closing my eyes. "Are you crazy?! We need to get out of here and to some place dry." He tries to pull me with him. "What, you can't tell me you've never played our stood out in the rain?" He just stands there holding his hoodie over his head. "No, no I have not." I shake my head moving the hoodie and dropping it on the grass. I take his hands and start to dance slowly. "There's no music silly girl." He chuckles. "Carter imagine it." He smiles twirling me around and starts to slow dance with me. "Now who's the hopeless romantic?" He asks raising a brow. "Dancing in the rain." I blush laughing lightly. "Carter...these are the moments you want to be spontaneous." He holds me close with one hand on my waist and the other still holding my right hand. "But we should really get out of this rain and hopefully dry off before getting ready for the Gala." I nod as he starts to walk us away from the field. I grab his soaked hoodie and carry it with me.
Once we make it out back to the small town, Carter waves down a cab to drive us to the hotel. He starts to help me untangle my wet hair. "Ow, Carter." I mumble frowning as he slightly yanks the hair. "Sorry, my love." He says completely focused. We rush into the hotel. The receptionist looks at us completely baffled. "Mr. Alvarez...your items for tonight arrived earlier and have been sent to your room." Carter nods running his hand through his hair as we head upstairs. "Well, you're lucky you are a man. Your hair is fully dry already." I mumble using his now-dry hoodie to dry my hair a little. Carter laughs opening the room door for me. "Let's start getting ready for tonight." I nod looking at the covered attire hanging on our door. "I'm curious about this dress you picked out for me." I run my hand over the black covering before I go to the bathroom to wash and dry my hair. "I hope you love it." He says peeling off his clothes and dropping them in our little wet cloth pile.
I start to dry my hair as Carter takes a look at the items he got earlier. "Are you going to show what all you got?" I raise my brow at him placing the hairdryer away. He jumps a little before shaking his head. "Uh...yeah. Yes after the Gala." He clears his throat anxiously. "Get ready." I chuckle patting his shoulder as I grab the covered dress and carry it to the bathroom. I peel it open to see an elegant vintage black satin gown, with off-the-shoulder sleeves. I take in the simple little silver gems spaced around the waist. "Fancy..." I stand there admiring it. I slip it on delicately, scared it won't fit. But to my surprise, Carter go my size spot on. I stare at myself in the bathroom mirror. "I look like a completely different person...I don't mind." I run my hand over it. I quickly do my makeup, keeping a light elegant look to emphasize the dress. I slip on the silver pencil heels just as Carter knocks on the door. "Babe, the car is here. Are you ready?" I take a deep breath and open the bathroom door and step out to see Carter focused on putting on his watch. I take in his formal suit. Fully black coat and pants, with a black dress shirt and a silver tie. "Wow...you look sexy as fuck." I blink staring at him. He huffs lightly without looking up. "Tiger, can you help me put this watch..." he trails off as he turns around and starts to scan me head to toe. "Jesus help me." He breathes. I chuckle shaking my head and walk over to him. "You look like a goddess." He mumbles kissing my head as I take the watch from him. I blush as I help him put on his watch. "Are you sure this isn't too much for a Gala?" I ask looking at myself in the full-body mirror. "Sarah...I know it's not necessarily your cup of tea, but you are going with me, I had to get you something that made you stand out since we are the main guest." I nod lightly as he comes up behind me and takes a random mirror picture.
"I did not know you liked taking photos that much." I chuckle slipping my dog tags off and putting on the jewelry that was sent with the dress. "Okay. I'm ready." Carter offers me his arm and we make our way out of the hotel, to the car. The driver greets us and opens the door, helping me with my dress before closing the door. "You have your speech?" I ask as I reply to Brian's message.
Carter's POV
"Yes, I have everything." I slip my notecards into the inner pocket of my suit. "Brian checking in?" Sarah nods smiling lightly. "He sent me a photo of Jack and Olivia." She pouts her lips showing me a picture of Jack hugging his baby sister. "They are very cute." I smile at her. "I love them so much." She sighs smiling at the photo. "I can't relate, I don't have nieces or nephews." I shrug. I never even thought of having my own kids. I sit there pondering over the fact of having children with the woman next to me. I could see her as a mother. "Earth to Carter." Sarah waves her hand in front of my face. "You okay? You trailed off there. We're here." I nod rapidly sitting up and buttoning my lounge coat as the driver opens the door. "Enjoy your night Mr. Alvarez and Ms. O'Connor." We are immediately met by flashes of cameras. I take Sarah's hand and help her out. "Woah...you didn't tell me there would be cameras." She blinks as the flashes hit her eyes.
"Mr. Alvarez!!! Who's this woman on your arm?!" I shake my head keeping Sarah close. "Mr. Alvarez! Is it true you have been appointed as a higher-up?!" The questions pour in as I lead Sarah down the carpet and enter the Palace.
"I think I may have gone blind." Sarah tries to adjust her eyes to her surroundings. I laugh lightly. "You get used to it." She nods. I start greeting the others around as my mother approaches us. "Just in time." She says looking at Sarah. "You look beautiful tonight." She says impressed. Sarah sighs in relief. "So do you Mrs. Alvarez." My mother nods in approval as my father comes behind her. "The guest of honor has arrived. I am very impressed with the security measures you took." He says looking at me. I shake his hand nodding at him. He looks over at Sarah eyeing her head to toe as she speaks to my mother. "You clean your girl up nicely." I just look at him sternly. "If you excuse me, I have to greet the rest of the guests Father." I put my hand on the small of Sarah's back signaling her to walk with me. She nods at my mum and follows me. I immediately see every eye on us as we walk. "Who is the girl with Carter?" I hear someone ask as we pass. "I don't know but he made sure everyone knows she's with him." Sarah clears her throat, clearly not used to this type of formal attention. "Just focus on me." I whisper in her ear. She relaxes linking her arm with mines. "Well well." I tense hearing the voice of my Rival. "You sure know how to choose your women Carter." Robert says walking up, taking Sarah's hand, and kissing it. "You look ravishing tonight my darling." Sarah rolls her eyes at him as I growl. "Robert." I grit through my teeth. "You haven't tamed her I see. You shouldn't roll your eyes at me, darling. Makes me wanna punish you." He says checking her out.
Sarah scoffs. "What is this? the 14th century?" I choke on my drink at her come back. Robert smirks, lust evident in his eyes. "You have quite the mouth...I could think of ways you could use it." I growl, Sarah holds me back giving him a death glare. "I would love to cut your dick off and feed it to the damn wolves." Sarah crosses her arm. "That or I could bite it off for you asshole." I smirk at Robert who stands there dumbfounded and shaking with rage. "You see Robert..." I bring Sarah's back to my chest and kiss her cheek softly. "My girl is a fighter." He scoffs clearing his throat and fixing his composure to play it off in front of the guest. He lets out a fake laugh before walking away. Sarah chuckles turning towards me as Liam and Sophia walk up. "Sophia!" Sarah smiles. "Nice to see other faces I can recognize." Sophia and Sarah share an embrace.
"You ready for the speech?" Liam asks handing me an earpiece to communicate with just in case. "As ready as every year." he chuckles looking towards the girls. "So I saw you ran into Robert." Liam grumbles. "Sarah handled him splendidly." I smirk. "He's looking for answers." Liam sighs looking at me. "He's been snooping around our territory. Lincoln kept a close eye. He's been asking around about your whereabouts." I nod. "Will you be staying here then?" I ask him taking a sip of my champagne. "I have to. I have to make sure he doesn't start anything and end it before it starts." Liam smiles lightly. "I know it's the worst timing and you need me by your side-" I cut him off. "You are by my side doing this Liam. You are making sure that there is no trouble here while we deal with Reyes." I pat his back reassuringly. "I have Sarah by my side. Lincoln will be there as well. don't worry Liam." He nods as My father comes up to inform me it's time for the charity speech.
Sarah walks up to the front as I take the podium. She gives me a reassuring smile.
"Good evening everyone and welcome to our 50th Children's Charity Gala." I start off, looking at the people surrounding the area. "I would like to say a few words in honor of the children that are grateful for our support and love. We stand here today to help those who are orphaned and to raise money for those children who are struggling with medical-related complications. I vow to make their lives easier, no matter what it takes." I take a deep breath before continuing. "I see children who struggle without loving parents, or the right support from the care system. I have managed to create a system that will provide these children with amazing health care benefits, for no cost, and also find those that are in need, homes that will provide them the love and care that they need." The guests start to applaud. I gesture for them to settle down. "Let's hold the applauding till the end." They go quiet immediately. "Tonight I am joined by someone very special to me. Someone who has been there for me through the loss of my dear friend, Jesse Cooper." I look over at Sarah who stands there wide-eyed. "Never in my life did I think I would end up in a relationship with such a daring, kind, selfless woman. Sarah O'Connor made me into a better person. Because of her, I will not only be donating part of my own assets to these children but create funding solely for these children to help their lives improve." My father tenses as I look at him with a sly smile. "To the children." I raise my glass as the guest applaud.
I rush from the podium to Sarah who holds her arms out for me. I embrace her tightly before placing a chaste kiss on her lips. "You really put me on the spot there." She laughs anxiously as my father strolls up. "You're giving away half your assets?! Because of this girl!" He whispers loud enough for me to hear. "Yes, Father, that is exactly what I did." I smile pulling Sarah close to me. He takes a deep breath trying to control his anger before he strolls away. Sarah clears her throat. "Well...um thank you." She smiles lightly kissing my cheek as I walk with her. "That was a bold move mate." Liam says walking up. "I like it but your father seems to not take it well." I shrug. "His attitude is not my problem anymore." Liam nods. "Just a heads up. Stephanie is searching for you." Sarah narrows her eyes. "Is she now?" She mumbles. Right on queue Stephanie walks up quickly clinging to my arm.
"Hello, Carter." She smirks, her voice sultry. "You didn't come to visit me after you came home." She pouts slightly rubbing my arm. I pull my arm away, narrowing my eyes at her. Sarah clears her throat glaring at her. "Oh hi. You must be Carter's friend." Stephanie eyes her before giving her a fake smile. Sarah looks at me raising a brow and then back at her. "I know your playin'. As if he didn't just announce me as his girlfriend in front of everyone." Stephanie rolls her eyes. "Last time I checked he was supposed to be engaged to me once he got back home." Sarah steps forward laughing her face. "Why? Cause his daddy said so. Do me a favor bitch...keep your hands off my man if you wanna keep both of them." Sarah places her hand on my chest as she presses against me, showing Stephanie her dominance. Stephanie scoffs. "He was never yours, to begin with." Sarah smirks tilting her head to the side at Stephanie's statement. "Last time I checked, Carter chooses who he wants." I nod in agreement as I watch Stephanie's face go red. "You little who.." Sarah cuts Stephanie off. "Finish that sentence and you'll end up in a hole. You don't know what I'm capable of." I look at Sarah proudly. We hear the classical music start and I hold out my hand. "Shall we dance my love?" Sarah takes it staring straight into Stephanie's eyes as we walk to the floor.
We start to waltz despite Stephanie's eyes burning into the back of my head. "That was absolutely amazing. I have not seen that woman go speechless before." I whisper to Sarah. "Yeah well, she hasn't met the women of my family." She says wrapping her arms around my neck as we slow dance once the music changes. "She's still watching." Sarah growls lowly. I rub her back softly. "Let her." She says before planting kisses on my neck as she stares at Stephanie. My breath hitches at her sudden action. "Getting bold now are we?" I let out a breathy laugh turn us around so I can see the look on the woman's face. Stephanie glares at me before stomping her feet like a child and strolling off. Sarah looks at me feeling accomplished by her work. "What do you say we get out of here." She sighs resting her head on my chest, nodding. "I'm so tired. I could sleep for days." She says linking my arm with hers as we leave the Gala. I smile as she rests her head on my shoulder. "Carter?" I hum in response. "You were amazing...I'm proud of you." I stop in my tracks as the flashes hit. No one has ever told me that before. My own parents never praised my work. I look down at her. "Are you okay?" She asks looking at me worried. Not worrying about the camera I pull her into a kiss so deep and full of love she melts in my arms.
She pulls away blinking in shock. "Thank you." I whisper resting my head on hers as I pick her up bridal style. "Carter...you're drawing attention." She mumbles. "I can walk." I ignore her request and carry her to the car. I gently place her in the back seat and slide in next to her. The driver starts to drive to the hotel immediately. "Carter...you sure you're okay?" Sarah asks worried. I smile looking at her with all the love in my heart. "I love you." I cup her face in my hands. "It's just I don't hear things like that, not even my parents have told me they're proud of me...ever." She places her hand over my right hand as it rests on her cheek. "I always will...you will always hear it from us." She smiles resting her head on my shoulder yawning.
Do I deserve her? How did I get so lucky? Dimitri. I now believe it was he who prayed and believed for her so much. A man I have never met. A man who loved her before me. I look down at Sarah who has fallen asleep against my shoulder. I rest my cheek on hers. "Thank you Dimitri." I whisper to myself. The drive doesn't take much longer. I gently pick Sarah up and carry her into the hotel. "Mr. Alvarez...do you need any help?" I shake my head as Sarah opens her eyes a little. "We're back?" She asks still groggy from waking up. "Can you send up some room service? I think we both could use a late-night snack." The receptionist nods. I head to the elevator and gently put Sarah down, keeping her heels in one hand. "I could use some snacks." She smiles with half-open eyes. I chuckle. "And clearly some sleep." She nods in agreement following to our room. I let out a sigh of relief taking off my lounge jacket and unbuttoning my dress shirt. Sarah looks at me waiting patiently for me to help her unzip the dress. "Sorry, I somehow manage to zip it up, but never manage to zip it down." I kiss her shoulder lightly unzipping her dress. "You always look so beautiful, you really did this dress justice." I say helping her step out of it. She slips on her pajama shorts and comfortable tank top and falls onto the bed groaning. "FINALLY!" She sprawls out. I grab her makeup removal wipes and some of her skincare products and sit above her head. She furrows her eyebrow in confusion. I start to gently wipe away all her makeup. "Oh...Carter, you didn't have to." She mumbles blushing lightly at my gesture. "Relax my love." She lays her head back in my lap and watches me work. I massage her skin care products in and spray her face with toner. "There. Perfect." I smile.
"Did you watch me do my skincare back at home?" I shrug smirking. "Maybe." She sits up as there is a knock on the door. "Room service." I get up and open the door. "Thank you." I nod at the server as he leaves. I close the door and look back to see Sarah already at the trolley helping herself. I laugh at the sight. Sarah sits down with her plate and starts to snack. I grab the velvet box from my drawer and walk over behind her. "You ready to see what I got?" I whisper. She nods taking a bite of her sandwich. I open the box and gently take out the delicate silver chained sapphire necklace she was eyeing at the old jeweler's shop. "Close your eyes." She complies quickly. I start putting the necklace around her neck and make sure it's secure. "Okay open." I smile as she looks down. "Oh, my god." She gasp looking at me. "Carter! You really didn't have to!" I shake my head. "I saw how you admired it and I and the old man came to an agreement that it would look good around your beautiful neck." I wink. She quickly gets up and tackles me in a hug. "Thank you." She exclaims hopping a little in my arms before kissing me. "Only the best for you." I mumble against her lips as she pulls away. She sits me down and sits in my lap holding out a sandwich for me. "Eat." I smile taking it from her and taking a bite.
I sigh in contentment watching her talk about her life and how crazy some of her races got.
For the first time in my life. I am truly happy. It scares me.
