Wave

"I can't believe leader-sama is letting you go alone," Deidara frowned. "He should send someone with you."

"I'll be fine, I'll summon Gray in a bit." Kana replied, pulling the hood of her water-proof cloak over her head.

"Just be safe." Itachi said, Sasori nodding his head.

"I will." Kana promised.

"Don't you dare fucking die!" Hidan exclaimed. "I have no other way of disposing of bodies!"

"Don't get yourself killed." Kakazu agreed.

"Tell Zabuza that his old pall Kisame is waiting for a rematch!" Kisame grinned.

"Alright, I will, but I have to go now." Kana chuckled. "Goodbye, everyone!"

Kana left the tower, a backpack on her back, kodachi attached to her lower back, cloak on, and her new headband tied to her right upper arm. She made her way to the village gates, stopping at the newly installed, gate checkpoint. Two chunin sat at the desk, one a woman no older than 16 or 17, and the other, a man, probably close to 20.

"Where you headed?" The woman asked.

"The Land of Waves." Kana replied.

"Where are your teammates?" The man asked. "Genin can't go on solo missions."

"I have clearance." Kana replied, handing them a paper.

"Be back in two weeks or less," The woman said, handing her a clipboard and pen. "Sign your name and you can go, if you aren't back on time, someone will come and collect you."

Kana signed her name and handed the board back, chuckling at the waterproof pen (a necessity in Ame). She left the village, trudging through the rain for several kilometres until it disappeared.

"Summoning jutsu!"

Gray appeared in a puff of smoke, walking over to Kana's side in an instant.

"Considering you have a new headband and we aren't in Ame, I'm assuming you passed." Gray said with a toothy grin.

"That's right, I'm now a kunoichi of Amegakure, off on my first official mission." Kana replied.

"So, where are we headed anyway?" Gray asked.

"The Land of Waves, we're supposed to track down a guy named Zabuza." Kana said.

"Too bad I don't have his scent," Gray sighed. "Finding him would be easy then."

"Yeah, but on the bright side, I know that he's working for some guy named Gato." Kana smirked.

"How much time do we have for this mission?" Gray asked stretching his back.

"Two weeks." Kana answered.

"What do you say we run there and then use the rest of the time to kick back and find this Zabuza guy?" Gray suggested.

"I'm down for that, I really want a chance to relax." Kana sighed, hopping onto his back.

"And I really want to stretch my legs!" Gray barked. "Every time I get antsy kaa-san yells at me to stop, happens to Yuki too. Now hold on!"

Kana gripped the scruff of his neck and leaned down, letting the wind whip her hood off her head. Gray's dark gray fur rippled in the wind as they ran, his tongue hanging out. After running for about twenty minutes, they passed a small wooden building, with a sign that she couldn't read.

"That looked like a bounty station, I think we are in the Land of Fire now!" Kana yelled over the wind.

"How much further?!" Gray yelled back.

"We have to get to the edge of the Land of Fire then find a boat to take us to the mainland of Wave Country!" Kana explained.

"I can swim!" Gray exclaimed.

"We are getting a boat!" Kana argued.

They continued to run towards the ocean, getting closer to Konoha.

~~~~~
"Kakashi-sensei! Are we there yet?!"
The silver-haired man sighed, keeping his nose buried in a book.
"No Naruto, we are not, we haven't even left the Land of Fire yet." He replied.
"Hey, Kakashi, want a drink?" The old man asked, offering the taller man his bottle of sake.
"Sorry, but I can't drink on duty." He sighed. "But I really wish I could."
The old man shrugged and went back to chugging his alcohol. A black haired boy walked slightly behind the group trying his hardest to not hit the girl who clung to his arm. While his clan wasn't around to see him be rude, he still had the clans honour to uphold. The pinkette swooned and clung to his arm.
"Sasuke-kun, you're so cool!" She gushed. "You saved my life earlier!"
"Hn." He grunted, gritting his teeth.
At this point, he prayed for any kind of distraction.
"Get to the right!"
That would work.
Everyone jumped to the right as a huge figure ran past them. It looked like a wolf, with someone riding on their back. But just as quickly as they came, they were gone.
"Are we there yet?"
~~~~~

"Did we just run past some people?!" Gray asked.

"Yeah!" Kana replied. "Although I couldn't see anything identifying about them!"

"I suppose it doesn't really matter!" Gray shouted. "Anyway, I can smell the ocean, we are getting close!"

"Alright, let's hurry there!" Kana ordered.

"You got it!"

Gray picked up the pace, his huge paws thumping against the ground with each stride. In no time, they had reached the port, which wasn't very big at all. Gray stopped and knelt, letting Kana slide off his back.

"So now we just need to find a boat." Kana hummed.

"Don't worry about me," Gray grinned. "It'll be easier to just find a ride for yourself, and I get a little seasick on boats."

"Alright, I'll summon you when I get to the mainland." Kana agreed. "See you later."

"See you!" Gray replied before vanishing.

Kana looked around the port, only seeing a few ships and small boats. She shrugged and walked towards the first boat, a fairly large ship that had cargo being loaded onto it. A tall man with a graying beard and gray hair stood beside the boat, a cigarette hanging from his lips.

"Excuse me, but can I know where you are headed?" Kana asked the man.

"This shipment is heading to Kirigakure." The man replied, jabbing a thumb at the ship. "Where you headed little lady?"

"I need to go to the Land of Waves." Kana replied, tapping her headband. "I'm on a mission."

"Sorry, but this ship isn't going near there, besides all the ports there have been taken over by Gato. No one heads there unless they are working for him." He replied, blowing a ring of smoke.

"I see," Kana sighed. "Thanks anyway!"

"Good luck on your mission." The captain replied, tilting his sailor hat.

Kana walked over to the sailboat next, approaching the man who stood in the boat, messing with the sail.

"Excuse me," Kana said. "But is it possible to get a ride to the Land of Waves."

"Sorry," The man sighed, wiping some sweat off his forehead with his sleeve. "But I just got here, I'm actually on my way to Konohagakure right now to see some family."

"Oh, thanks anyway." Kana smiled.

The man smiled back, giving her a wave goodbye as she headed towards the last boat. The final boat was a small boat with a small motor. A thin man tended to the engine, seeming to be killing time. Kana approached him with a polite smile.

"Where are you headed?" Kana asked.

"I am waiting for a group of people, I am supposed to take them to the Land of Waves." The thin man replied quietly.

"That's great news!" Kana chirped. "Is it possible to bring me along?"

"I don't know," The man nervously said. "I suppose I can if it is alright with the group I am taking."

"Wonderful!" Kana exclaimed. "When will they be coming?"

"Within the next hour or two." He shrugged.

Kana bowed her head. "Thank you!"

The man chuckled nervously.
