Lupa

A/N

Please note that Kana can draw blood when injured by her own kagune or biting herself (like her thumb for example).

Kana sat on the floor of her room, staring at the school she received from Pein. It was just a small white scroll, not very large at all, and a red band wrapped around it. She removed the band slowly, placing the scroll down and unravelling it. The scroll was completely empty except for a large ink square that was filled with intricate designs, which were made of characters.

"Is this a seal?" Kana asked, recalling the brief lesson she was given on them, courtesy of Sasori.

Kana placed her hand in the center of the square, channelling her chakra into it. That seemed like common sense to her at the time. The square glowed a bright green, and before she knew it, she had vanished from this world.

~~~~~
"What exactly did you give Kana anyway?" Kisame asked, leaning back on the sofa.
"I am curious as well." Itachi agreed.
"It was a scroll I found in the Amegakure vaults," Pein replied. "A summons scroll to be more exact."
"Oh, so she just has to sign it in her blood, right?" Sasori asked.
"No, not exactly." Pein sighed.
"What the fuck do you mean by 'not exactly?'" Hidan scoffed.
Kakazu and Deidara nodded.
"Pein! What the hell is going on!" Konan suddenly exclaimed, standing up quickly.
Pein narrowed his eyes at the blatant disrespect but was cut off again.
"Kana's chakra signature is completely gone!"
~~~~~

Kana squinted into the darkness, waiting for her eyes to adjust to the sudden change in lighting. The air smelled damp and musty, from this, she guessed that she was in some kind of cave. The only question was what lived there?

"A human?" A voice asked, then retracting their question. "Wait no, your scent is off, you're not completely human at least."

Kana's eyes finally adjusted, and she peered into the darkness. Bright blue eyes stared into her own eyes, and she could make out the outline of a head. Long nose, sharp teeth, furry face, and tall pointed ears. The figure stood at roughly six feet tall on all fours.

"Tell me, who are you?" The animal asked in a smooth feminine voice.

"My name is Kana." She said, keeping any and all traces of fear out of her voice.

"And my name is Lupa, mother of the Wolves." She replied, bowing her head just slightly. "Did you come here in hopes of signing a contract?"

"What's a contract?" Kana asked.

"It is something that will let you summon wolves to your aid, or simply for companionship if you wish," Lupa explained. "However, first you must pass a test."

"What's my test?" Kana asked, her eyes sparkling.

"We have to see how well you mesh with us wolves," Lupa hummed. "What skills do you have that are wolf-like?"

"I am learning how to track, and I can be very sneaky." Kana answered, quite proud of herself.

Lupa smiled, which looked more like a snarl.

"Impressive little one," She chuckled. "Now, I want you to meet your first summon."

Lupa howled, a sound so loud that it made her tremble. The walls seemed to shake and rumbled for a few seconds. When her mightly howl ended, a much quieter howl was heard in reply, before the sound of running hit Kana. A small gray wolf skid to a stop before Lupa, hastily bowing his head and then getting up quite excitable. His tail wagged back and forth as he looked from Lupa to Kana.

"What is it kaa-san?" The little wolf asked. "And who's this?"

"This is Kana," Lupa replied. "And she will be your first summoner."

The little wolf looked up at Kana, bowing his head a little before standing back up.

"Hi! My name's Gray!" He exclaimed, holding out his front paw.

Kana took his paw, shaking it like a hand. "Nice to meet you, I'm Kana."

"Now there is only one more thing to do," Lupa said, sitting back on her hind legs.

Lupa crossed her first two fingers on each front paw and a giant scroll appeared, the outsides weathered and worn from years of usage. She unfurled the scroll, putting her paw down on an empty slot.

"Our contract is different from others," Lupa said. "Our contract bonds the summoner and summon for as long as the contract lasts, until death."

Gray nodded his little head, looking up at his mother with a great amount of confidence.

"Kana, sign your name in blood, then leave your fingerprints," Lupa said. "Gray, you must place your pawprint in blood next to Kana's finger prints and name."

Kana knealt down, biting her thumb and pressing down as she signed her name. She pressed her fingertips to her bloody thumb and then pressed each finger down. Gray bit his paw, rubbing his paws together to coat them in blood before pressing his right paw down on the scroll.

Lupa rolled up the scroll, making it vanish in a puff of fluffy white smoke.

"Gray is your default summon." Lupa said. "He will appear after you preform the hand signs for the summoning jutsu. If you want to summom someone else, it will require more chakra and you will need to think of that summon."

"And what are the handsigns?" Kana chuckled.

Lupa sighed.

"Listen up, I will teach you."

~~~~~
Two hours after Kana vanished, her chakra signature suddenly returned, along with a small signature from someone else.
Konan practically knocked down the door when she charged in, only to stop dead in her tracks.
"Is... Is that a... Wolf?" Konan asked, looking down at the pup in her lap with her mouth agape.
"This is Gray!" Kana smiled. "My summon! Say hello!"
"Hello there little guy." Konan greeted.
"Hi!" The little wolf chirped.
"Well, I'm going to go and calm the other's down now." Konan chuckled awkwardly.
"Why? What happened?" Kana asked.
"After you vanished, everyone sort of started to panic." Konan sighed. "They are all still in the lounge."
"Then let's go introduce them to Gray!" Kana chirped, scooping him into her arms.
"I can walk you know!" Gray protested.
Kana scratched his head and Gray shut up.
~~~~~

"Kana's back!"

The Akatsuki ambushed Kana in the hall, asking her endless questions and not noticing the wolf pup in her arms till he barked.

"Give the girl some space!" He barked.

"A dog?" Kisame asked. "Where'd you get 'im?"

"I am a wolf!" Gray huffed. "Regular old dogs don't talk you know! Unless they're summons, but the dog summons are so full of themselves. They say they're the best trackers. Ha! Wolves are older and better! Dogs came from wolves!"

"Be quiet Gray." Kana sighed. "Save your ranting for later."

"Right, sorry." Gray mumbled.

"So I'm guessing this means you signed a contract?" Itachi asked.

"That's right!" Kana grinned. "I've got wolves!"

"Ugh, I'm going to hate all the dog hair." Deidara groaned.

"Wolf hair." Gray corrected.

"No one gives a shit." Hidan added.

Gray crossed his furry front legs with a huff.

A/N

Are you guys happy with Kana's contract? I thought wolves just suited her well. I mean, she has good tracking skills, is good at stalking her enemies, and she has white hair like a white wolf. I don't know, but I'm happy with it. Hope you enjoyed the chapter! (Remember to vote)
