Glass
Sasuke blurred across the field, running at a speed no one had ever seen before. The Uchiha was quick before, but now he was fast, moving swiftly across the field with the grace of a wild cat, going in for the kill.
But Gaara's sand was just a little faster, shooting up in front of him to block Sasuke's attack. Sasuke was quick to get away from the sand, getting away just as spikes of sand shot out of the wall. After analyzing the sand, Sasuke stepped back, pulling two shuriken from the pouch on his leg. He ran at Gaara again, throwing the stars.
Gaara grinned ferally, his sand blocking the shuriken and preventing Sasuke from attacking him. But at the last second Sasuke vanished, only to reappear behind him. Before Gaara could even register what was happening Sasuke punched him in the face, his fighting style eerily reminiscent of someone else's.
~~~~~
"What a second, that taijutsu..." Sakura trailed off glancing at Lee.
"Yeah, it's very similar to my own style, but Sasuke obviously made a few minor changes to suit his fighting style." Lee nodded, seeming oddly proud that the Uchiha copied him.
"What's with that look?" Sakura giggled.
"Sasuke copied me!" Lee exclaimed. "That means he must admire how I fight."
Sakura nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah!"
~~~~~
Gaara's face began to crack, granules of sand falling from the cracks. Sasuke smirked, knowing he had broken through part of Gaara's sand armour. Gaara growled, a mirror image of himself made out of sand forming beside him. Gaara backed away as Sasuke fought Gaara's sand clone, using kunai, shuriken, and taijutsu mostly. Sasuke's hands blurred as he made hand signs for one of his signature moves.
"Fire style: grand fireball!" He exclaimed, spitting a giant ball of flames at the sand clones, completely enveloping it.
The heat was so intense Kana could almost feel her pale skin getting a shade darker. Sasuke jumped away with a huff of fatigue, smirking in satisfaction when the smoke cleared. The sand clone of Gaara was now a statue of solid glass, glittering in the sunlight. The crowd gasped at the spectacle, staring at the glass figure in awe.
"While that was impressive, it was also stupid," Azumi sighed. "Sand can turn to glass under extremely high temperature, but the hotter the fire, the more chakra the jutsu takes from the user."
"True, but Sasuke also managed to get rid of a portion of Gaara's sand." Haku added.
Kana stayed out of their little chat, staring at how the sun made the glass sparkle like a diamond.
~~~~~
Sasuke walked to the glass statue, smashing it with a swift kick. The glass made an ear-piercing sound as it shattered, making many people flinch. Gaara grimaced, a crazed look overtaking his face for a moment as his sand began to swirl around him.
Sasuke backed away, running up the opposite wall and sticking to it in a crouch using chakra. A sound that was reminiscent of hundreds of chirping birds filled the air, electricity sparking all around the Uchiha as he gathered lightning chakra into his right hand. He stood fast and then took off, running back down the wall at breakneck speed, tearing up pieces of the wall and ground as he ran.
"CHIDORI!" Sasuke exclaimed, ramming the ball of lightning through Gaara's sand sphere.
After breaking through the spear he quickly jumped back, just in time to avoid spikes that shot out at him. He shook out his hand, listening as Gaara began speaking frantically, muttering things.
"... Mother... Blood... My blood?" Gaara seemed to ask. "MY BLOOD!"
~~~~~
Kana sat upright, sensing something very wrong with her surroundings. Azumi slumped forward, but only for a second. She bolted upright, pulsing out her chakra.
"Kai!" She exclaimed.
Kana tilted her head. That was something that people did when caught in a genjutsu... Is that what happened? Kana looked around frantically. The other fighters were slowly breaking out of the genjutsu, but not soon enough.
A man wearing a Sunagakure headband descended on them, his sword drawn with the intent to hack them to bits. Kana, being the most alert, jumped into action, blocking his own sword with both her kodachi.
"I'm sorry about this," Kana sighed. "But you are threatening innocent people and those I care about."
A purple tentacle went through his chest, poking out of his back. Kana retracted her kagune, letting his body fall with a wet 'splat.' Azumi and Haku were quick to snap out of it, looking around in confusion.
"What's going on?!" Naruto asked, just woken up by Choji.
"Sunagakure and Otogakure are attacking Konoha!" Kana exclaimed, kicking her foot into the body at her feet. "He was going to try and kill us."
Choji gulped. "Well thanks for saving us."
"Wait, where the hell did Gaara, Temari, Kankuro and Sasuke go?" Azumi asked.
"Shit, I think they are part of the attack," Kana growled. "I can still smell them, but they are a ways ahead of us, in the forest north of here."
Suddenly, Naruto's eye widened his shoulder tense and shaking. "G-gramps!"
Kana looked to where the Hokage had sat, now battling with another man. Kana clenched her fists, wanting to punish herself for not making a connection sooner.
"He's fighting Orochimaru!" Kana growled. "Dammit!"
"He can't fight him alone!" Naruto exclaimed.
"He isn't alone," Azumi said, squinting to look inside the purple cube. "There's someone in there fighting with him, an ANBU it looks like."
"What do we do?" Choji asked frantically.
"Kill the enemy, save everyone, then go after Sasuke," Kana said, her eye changing to red and black. "You coming?"
Naruto's eye changed to red and black, his tails bubbling out of his tailbone and back. "Hell yeah!"
"Where do you think you're going?"
Kana whirled around, shoving her face into the chest of a man she knew quite well.
"Hidan!" She exclaimed.
Kakazu grunted. "I'm here too."
Kana giggled, poking the body at her feet again.
"Hey, Naruto, you want some?" Kana asked. "We'll need our strength."
Naruto shrugged, turning to Choji. "Look away if you're squeamish."
Kana and Naruto proceeded to devour the corpse in about a minute, leaving very little behind.
"So, who are the two tall guys?" Choji asked, slightly nervous.
"This is Hidan," Kana said, pointing to him. "And this is Kakazu! They're going to help us get rid of the enemies!"
"Jashin-sama will be pleased today!" Hidan grinned, grabbing his scythe off his back.
Kakazu rolled his eyes. "You and your asinine religion."
~~~~~
The Hokage huffed, out of breath, turning his head to look at the boy who hadn't left his side.
"I know you aren't one of my ANBU," The Hokage said. "I appreciate the help, but who are you?"
He reached for his dog mask, taking it off his face and tossing it to the side. His white hair gleamed in the sunlight, his single red and black eye menacing.
"Ah, so it's you." The Hokage said.
Orochimaru cackled, a disgusting sound that made Kaneki clench his fists even tighter.
"I didn't come here to help you specifically," Kaneki said. "But I do want him dead, so I'm willing to work with you."
"I'm thankful for your help." He nodded.
"Kaneki, how nice to see you again." Orochimaru cackled.
"Not really." Kaneki scoffed, letting his kagune out.
"Well, no matter," Orochimaru shrugged. "I've had success making something like you before, not like I can't do it again."
"You sick bastard!" Kaneki roared.
Orochimaru only laughed, irritating him further.
