Convincing

Gray and Kana charged. Kana gracefully leapt off his back and drew her kodachi, circling around Zabuza as Gray did the same. Zabuza just stood there, a highly amused look on his face.

"Have you heard of the Akatsuki?" Kana said in a low voice.

"I've heard the name before." Zabuza nodded. "I think an old buddy of mine works for them."

"That's right," Kana nodded. "Kisame says hello from Amegakure."

Zabuza chuckled. "What made Kisame join?"

"I couldn't say, but I have a guess." Kana replied. "The Akatsuki's ultimate goal is peace."

"That doesn't sound half-bad." Zabuza hummed. "But I'm kind of in the middle of a job at the moment."

"What job?" Kana asked.

"I'm being paid to take care of that old drunk." Zabuza shrugged. "Good money he's paying."

"The Akatsuki can support you, we have the funds." Kana said.

"Sorry kid, but for the time being, I'll have to decline." Zabuza sighed.

"I'll convince you." Kana promised.

Zabuza smirked. "We'll see."

Kana smirked back, taking all the time she could to commit his scent to memory, Gray did the same. Even if he escaped, they could track him down.

The silver-haired man named Kakashi stepped forward, giving Kana a grateful nod.

"Thank you for earlier, you saved me there." He sighed.

"No problem!" Kana chirped back. "But you better help me get this guy."

Kakashi pulled up his headband. "Oh, I will."

Kana held in the urge to gasp. His eye. Why was it like Itachi's?

She recalled it was a dojutsu called the Sharingan, but knew nothing else about it, other than its genjutsu capabilities.

Zabuza and Kakashi chanted the name of handsigns in perfect synch, in an almost creepy pattern. But finally, they stopped, with Kakashi completing the jutsu first.

"Water style: water dragon jutsu!"

A dragon made of water crashed into Zabuza, sending up huge waves. Gray quickly scooped Kana onto his back, leaping into the higher branches of a tree. The three Konoha genin amd their client did the same, scurrying up a tree as fast as possible. The water swept Zabuza into a tree, and Kakashi held a kunai to his neck.

Everyone climbed out of their trees as the water receded, waiting for Kakashi to dish out the final blow. Kana's legs tensed, ready to step in. She couldn't let him die.

"How?" Zabuza croaked. "Can you predict the future?"

"Yes, and I forsee your death." Kakashi replied, bringing the kunai knife closer.

Before a lethal blow could be dished out, two senbon pierced the flesh of his neck. Zabuza toppled, presumably dead.

Kakashi felt his neck for a pulse.

"He's dead." Kakashi said, his eyes narrowed.

"Indeed," A voice agreed from above. "I'd like to thank you all for your help in taking down Zabuza."

A figure in a mask appeared out of the mist, wearing a yukata and having their long black hair tied up in a bun. Gender was something hard to discern, but Kana and Gray could tell by scent that he was male.

"Who are you?!" Naruto exclaimed, his arms crossed.

"That's a Kiri tracking nin, Naruto," Kakashi explained. "They track down missing nin like Zabuza and bring them back, dead or alive."

"That's right," The boy nodded. "I've been tracking Zabuza for a long time. If you'll excuse me, I must be going now."

He hauled the body and sword over his shoulders and disappeared in the mist again.

Kana leaned down on Gray's back, whispering in his ear.

"Did you get his scent?" Kana whispered.

"It's faint, but I can find him." Gray nodded.

Kana nodded back, turning to the group of Konoha shinobi and their drunk client.

"It's just not fair!" Naruto exclaimed with a huff. "How can someone so young take him down so easily?!"

"Naruto, you have to accept that there are people your age stronger than me." Kakashi sighed.

"That's very true," Kana agreed. "Never underestimate your opponent."

Kakashi opened his mouth to reply but his body seized up. He afterwards fell over, his eyes closing. Kana hopped off Gray's back, checking him over for any physical injuries.

"He's just exhausted and used a lot of chakra," Kana said. "Some sleep and he'll be fine."

She was no doctor, but she knew enough about chakra exhaustion after countless hours of training. On the bright side, she had increased her reserves.

"So who's carrying him?" Sakura asked.

Everyone turned to Gray, who barked once out of annoyance.

"Sure, everyone looks at the big bad wolf!" Gray huffed. "Why am I always carrying stuff?!"

"Gray," Kana smiled. "Just do it."

Gray frowned but laid down, allowing Kana and everyone else to move Kakashi onto his back sideways. His legs on one side and his upper body and head on the other.

"Well, I suppose you can all stay at my place," Tazuna said. "No animals inside though."

"It's my size, isn't it?" Gray whined. "Stop being sizest."

"Gray, stop being stupid." Kana said.

"I'm hurt." Gray huffed.

"I can always get Yuki and send you back." Kana shrugged. "At least she makes excellent conversation."

"I'll shut up." Gray mumbled.

"Wise choice."

~~~~~
"Here's my place." Tazuna said, standing in front of a two floor house. "Help me carry Kakashi inside, then the wolf can leave, he's scaring all the people."
Gray scoffed and laid down, allowing everyone to haul Kakashi inside. Kana gave Gray a grin and a half-assed wave.
"See you Gray!" She sang.
"Yeah, stay out of trouble." Gray replied before vanishing.
Inside the house, Kakashi was laid in the living room floor, where a woman with long black hair checked him over.
"This is my daughter Tsunami." Tazuna said. "And these are the ninja who escorted me home, minus the white-haired girl."
Tsunami smiled, but also gave Kana a curiosu glance.
"My name's Kana, I just hitched a ride to the Land if Waves and got caught up in all this." Kana chuckled. "Nice to meet you."
Introductions continued, but they eventually got down the business.
"So Kana, are you going to go find that guy you were talking about?" Naruto asked.
"That's right, I'm on his trail," Kana replied. "I just have to convince him of something."
"Who is it?" Sakura asked.
"Sorry, but I can't tell you that." Kana apologized.
"Are you going to be staying here?" Tsunami asked. "I need to know how many people I should set up beds for."
"I'm not sure yet," Kana replied. "If I'm not back by the time the sun sets, assume I've found a place to stay."
"Where are you going?" Naruto asked as Kana walked towards the door.
Kana slid the door open, giving everyone a wide grin.
"To complete my mission of course!"
