Mirabel was walking down the hall, when she saw her Abuela Alma sitting in the living room, knitting something with pink, green and blue threads.
Since the magic was restored, and now that her family had more time for themselves, her Abuela had lessened her grip on the others, also just having some time for herself, being an Abuela, she knew and loved.
Mirabel smiled, sitting next to her.
"Hola, Abuela" The girl said, as Alma looked at her with soft smile.
"Hola, Mirabel. How are you doing today?"
"Eh, nothing much." The girl looked over what her Abuela was knitting. "What is that, you're making?"
Alma looked down, when her face changed and she chuckled a bit.
"Oh, Dios mio... looks like I got distracted again!" She looked at the three colored threads, braided together. "I used to make a lot of these, when your Mamá, Tía Pepa and Tío Bruno were very little. I guess, my mind wondered off and my hands started doing something familiar, huh?" She then looked at Mirabel. "Well... my children are not babies anymore, so I don't know, what to do with it... would you like to have it?"
Mirabel looked at the string, when her mind started going wild, her eyes wide.
"Yeah... I can see that!" The girl took the braid in her hands, examinating it "Few more things here and there... and it can make a good hand-made necklace!"
"I'm sure, you'll be able to make something beautiful with it, Mariposita..."

Mirabel was sitting in the main room, playing with Antonio and his animals, who would like her face once in awhile, making her and small boy next to her giggle.
"Having fun I see, you two~?" A voice called from side.
Two kids looked back to smile at the person, who was speaking to them.
"Sí, Tío! Wanna join?"
Bruno Madrigal smiled, joining to his little niece and nephew, when a rat came from his ruana.
"Oh, hi, Teresa!" Antonio smiled, waving to the small rodent.
Teresa then moved closer to Mirabel, sniffing her, when the girl moved closer.
"Something wrong, my little friend?" Then, the small rat jumped on Mirabel's shoulder, locking her cheek slightly, that caused her to laugh. "Hey~! What is that about?" She chuckled, taking rat in her hand.
"Oh, Dios mio, I'm sorry, Mira" Bruno chuckled back. "Teresa's going to be a mother in few days. I guess, she chose you as a training person!"
"Oh, really?" Mirabel smiled down "Don't worry, Teresa! I know, you'll be a great Mamá to your babies, when they're here~"
The three of them continued to carry on their games with animals, while Teresa still didn't leave Mirabel for even a second. Eventually, the girl ended up falling asleep on Bruno's knees, as he smiled at her, strocking her hair.
"Good job, Tonito..." The man said to small boy, who smiled back.

"I'm out to the town!" Mirabel adjusted her bag, when Isabela and Luisa peeked at her.
"Where you're going?" The eldest of three sisters asked.
"The main square. Maybe a bit to outskirts. Will decide on the way!"
"What a coincidence!" Luisa said, walking to her sister. "I was just going there! Don't mind I join you?" She asked, placing her hand on Mirabel's head.
"Not one bit!" The girl smiled, before looking at Isabela, who was packing few things into a bag. "Isa, what are you doing?" She titled her her.
"Just going to take few things. I'm bored, so I guess it's a good idea to join you two"
Mirabel smiled at it. Sure, it was a bit out of character for Isabela she knew for years, but now? They both were trying to heal up those old wounds, and Mirabel was glad for it.
As soon as three sisters left the Casita, Mirabel smiled, when the warmth of the sun wrapped around her. The girl couldn't help with her inner child to start running a bit ahead of her sisters.
But when Luisa lifted her onto her shoulders, Mirabel looked a bit confused. It seemed like her sisters had their own thoughts on that.
"Now, where are you hurrying?" Isabela chuckled, raising her eyebrow. "We've got the whole day ahead of us, Mira~" The young woman smiled, taking a piece of their mother's cooking and giving it to Mirabel.
Now that was weird. But then again, her family was acting more protective of her, Tío Bruno and Antonio since the Casita fall, so she didn't ask about that. Not to mention that she liked, when Luisa gave her piggyback rides.
"Sorry" The youngest of three said, taking the offered food in her hand. Isabela smiled softly.
"It's okay, Hermanita~"
"Now, Mira, hold on tight~. You know, I like going fast~" Luisa joked, before Mirabel giggled, tightening her grip onto her sister's neck, before Luisa started running towards the Encanto down the hill.
"Dios mio, Luisa! Don't drop her!" Isabela yelled, running after her sisters.

Mirabel held Camilo's hand, as he lead her through the Encanto. Dolores was just after them, watching them intensely. More intensely than her enchanted hearing ever made her hear things, probably.
"Remind me, what do I have to do?" Mirabel asked.
"There should be more kids than usual, so I need an extra pair of hands or two. That's you and Dolores." Camilo explained, before turning to Mirabel with his never disappearing smile "Just play with them! They're sweet children!"
"But remember to be gentle. You're going to deal with little ones, Mira" Dolores reminded her as well, as Mirabel nodded.
"Of course! How old are they?"
"3 at most." Camilo said, shrugging. "But don't worry. I'm be on the diaper duty, so you just play with them"
"Haha, I tell you, primo, I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty, I was helping Tía changing Tonito's diapers, after all!" Mirabel laughed, before Dolores put her hands on Mirabel's shoulder.
"Alright, you two. You can have that talk back to Casita. I don't want to hear that continuing" Dolores said, making two younger kids laugh.
Once arriving, Camilo lead Mirabel to the child area, where already were few children.
"Hola, kiddos" Camilo smiled, waving to the kids, kneeling down to them. "This is my prima Mirabel, she came here today to play with you!"
"Hola" Mirabel smiled, copying her cousin.
"Mira?" One of toddlers repeated the name, when the girl nodded. "Mira!"
"That's right, I'm Mira! And what's your name, cariña?"
"Mira! Play! Play!" Another child cut her off, pulling Mirabel away, to play with them.
"Hehe, looks like, you'll have to go without names, Prima~" Camilo chuckled, as Mirabel smirked to him.
"I've got this! You two go!"
It was no surprise that Mirabel had no difficulties to fit in with the children. Almost too well, honestly. From side, it looked like she was just one of the toddlers. Not that she complained, they were cute and fun to play with! Tiring, buy fun!
At the nap time, she was fully worn out, when Camilo and Dolores came to her.
"Good job, Mira" Dolores smiled, strocking her cousin's hair, handing her a sippy cup of juice. "Sorry, all the glasses are dirty. It's the only thing, I was able to find..."
"Gracias, Dolly. And it's okay... I don't think I'd handle not spilling from normal glass. Dios, these kids!" Mirabel sighed, before starting to drink her juice.
"How about you take a nap with them?" Camilo asked. "I mean, I tend to take a nap here and there while on it, I can get you a blanket and pillow!"
Mirabel thought about that, before nodding, rubbing her eye.
"That would be nice... thank you, Cami..."
"Everything for my favorite cousin~!"

While playing in the backyard, Mirabel thought about trying to climb a tree. She liked to do so from time to time, but she realized she hasn't done it since the Casita fall.
So... why don't do that again?
Her family knew of her little hobby and knew she's always careful, so none would freak out, right?
Wrong.
"Mira, could you please help me in the kitchen?" Julieta called her in, like nothing was wrong, but Mirabel was able to catch a bit of worry in her mother's voice.
"Sí, Mamá!"
The girl came down from few steps, she was able to take, before running inside. Julieta was finishing up mixing up some dough for baking something, when she saw her daughter.
"There you are, Corazón!" The woman smiled, before wiping her hands and taking a spoon from a pot in her hand, offering it to Mirabel. "Could you try it for me? It's like usual, but I think it's missing something..."
Mirabel opened her mouth, as Julieta put the spoon in her mouth, letting her daughter to try the soup.
"Hm..." Mirabel looked around, before spotting spices on the counter. "Do you think it might be one of those?"
Julieta looked over, when noticing what Mirabel was looking at, smiling.
"Oh, that's right!" The woman said, turning back to the girl, kissing top of her head "Thank you, Mira!"
"Your welcome, Mamí!" Mirabel then thought about something. "Mamá?"
"Yes, Mira?"
"You... don't mind I'll be calling you and Papá 'Mamí' and 'Papí' more often?"
Julieta's eyes widened at this question. She had to pull down the happiness, before giving a more expected question.
"Oh, of course, Mija. But can I ask why?"
"It's just..." Mirabel started playing with her fingers. "I am feeling slightly younger lately... and it feels like I'm the only one out of the six of us, who doesn't use 'Mamí' or 'Papí' on daily basis. So..."
"Oh, Mira..." Julieta smiled softly, as she held Mirabel close to her chest. "It's okay, baby. You can call me whatever you want. No need to worry about that! And I'm sure your Papí would be delighted, if you did..." The woman said, kissing her daughter's cheek.
Mirabel smiled, nuzzling into her mother's chest.
"Thank you, Mamí..."

As the night rolled over the Encanto, Mirabel made her way to her room. What she didn't expect is to find her Papá and Tío Félix doing something on her bed.
"Papí? Tío?" The girl asked, titling her head. "What are you doing?"
"Oh, hey there, Mira!" Tío Félix said, looking at her. "Nothing much, just putting up something to make sure certain girl doesn't get hurt, while sleeping"
"Get hurt?" Mirabel asked "What do you mean, Tío? My bed is fine..."
Agustín shook his head, before screwing last bolt onto Mirabel's bed. Now, it had a small part of bars on both sides of bed. It now looked like an oversized toddler bed. Not what Mirabel was used to for last 12 years of her life.
"It's not what that nasty bump on your head said this morning!" The taller man said, putting his hand on his daughter's head. "We can't have you falling off your bed again, so these bars are going to stay on for few days, until we can be sure there will be no more accidents like that."
Mirabel thought about that. Sure, her head bump was big, but turning her bed into toddler's? It seemed to be a bit too far.
"I get that, Papí, but... don't you think it's a bit over it?"
"Mira..." Agustín carefully picked his daughter in his arms, who nearly instantly held tight on his shirt. "I promise you, it's just for few days. We'll watch, how well you'll be sleeping and, if there will be no more over-rolling, we'll take them down. Is it okay?"
The girl yawned, nodding. Her head was too tired to think straight. It was a long day for her. The daycare kids were tiring her out quickly, even with a nap, Camilo and Dolores suggested she should take with all the rest.
"I guess, it makes sense..."
Agustín smiled softly, before kissing top of Mirabel's head.
"Good girl~. Now, let's get your bedtime clothes and some milk for you, shall we?"

Mirabel woke up the next morning. It was earlier than usual, rubbing her eyes and yawning slightly, as she looked up, with some funny feeling, that made her feel small and comfortable in her place.
She sat up, holding on a small bars holder on her bed, her Tío Félix and Papí adjusted for her. She never asked for what, and this morning... she felt like they were always supposed to be there. They gave her feeling of safety and security.
Usually, the girl would quickly got dressed and went to help her Mamí in the kitchen, but this morning... she felt different. Like... something didn't work properly.
And it was frustrating her.
Mirabel wanted to leave her room, to see her family, but she COULDN'T! Why was that!?
To girl's distressed screams, a door opened and somebody came in.
"Mira, cariña, are you okay?" The voice of her Tía Pepa came from over her head, as the girl reached over. "Ay, Mariposita..."
Pepa gently picked Mirabel in her arms, as the girl felt warmth from her aunt, hiding her face in her neck.
Pepa was a bit confused on that. What was wrong with little Mira today? Sure. There was nothing different about her. No signs of sickness, no burning head or stuffy nose. She still had her curly black hair, brown eyes and green glasses.
Sure, her clothes weren't the same, but it was expected.
Instead of her normal white, nightdress, she wore every night, she was wearing a white shirt with pink butterfly, along with pink booties and diaper.
Sure, a lot or people would be curious about that. Like... Mirabel was 15 years! Why was she dressed up like a toddler? Mira herself would be wondering about that, but she never was able to catch any weird actions of her family.
It looked like the realization never hit her. And it was only a benefit for the Madrigals. As the family was NOT just being overprotective of her.
They were babying her.
And she was just letting them do that to her.
They were sure, that if Mirabel found out, she would scream, tear, destroy. But worse? She would try and run away again! And it was the opposite of what they wanted. It was the reason, they thought about babying the girl in the first place.
The babying meant protection, it meant love, it meant making up the mistakes.
And yet... Mirabel was easily going with everything this morning.
Could it be..?
"Oh, Mira..." Pepa smiled gently, strocking the girl's hair. "Looks like you're el bebe de la familia again!"
Mirabel giggled, letting her Tía lay her down to change her into a new diaper, she used during the night, as well as putting a cute blue dress with butterflies on her.
"Nuestra dulce Mariposita~" Pepa cooed, adjusting a pacifier on a necklace, Alma made and Mirabel decorated, around the girl's neck and placing it in girl's mouth, as she smiled from behind it, suckling on it slightly.
The two left Mirabel's room, as the glowing started from behind them, transforming the room slightly, to fit her current mindset.
Soon enough, they reached the kitchen, where the whole family was getting ready for breakfast.
"Mirabel's regressed!" Pepa cheerfully announced, bouncing the giggling girl on her hip, as the whole Madrigal family looked at them, smiles at their faces.
Finally.
It meant no more worrying about Mirabel hurting herself or running away from them.
At least, until she slips out of her head space.
But until she learns it's for her own good, until they're sure she's in no more danger for herself, they'd keep on protecting her.
Their little butterfly.
