4th July, 1963 {present time} idk I just felt like I needed to add that ^^^ because the past chapter might have been confusing. :(

When you dip her in the middle of the dance floor, it is the color of her dress. When she whispers in your ear, it is the color of her lips. When you make love, it is the trace you want her to leave all over your body. When she places her palm to your heart, it is the color that comes to the surface as her fingertips trail like a sentence that can never be finished. When you see her in your bedroom with another, it is the color of your breath. When you smash the vase in the hall, it is the color that threatens you to abandon the shattered pieces. When you scream at the top of your lungs, it is the color that pierced the atmosphere. When she hears you, it is the color of her pulse. When you look in her eyes for the last time, it is the fading color of your heart falling to your knees. It is not the color you see when she leaves.

Olivia Sheldon

"Olivia, it's the damn Fourth of July, just pick an outfit and lets go. We'll be late and miss the fireworks, then I'll be royally pissed. Now c'mon." Kieran yelled from down stairs as I put my feet in flip flops and grabbed a jacket.

"Where are y'all going?" Bob stomped and yelled as Kieran and I were almost out of the driveway.

"It's the Fourth Bob, can I not get some peace?" I shot back turning to glare at him.

"Where. Are. You. Going." Bob demanded as he marched closer to me taking my chin in his hand and squeezing.

"There's fireworks over the pier at sundown. You happy?" I regretted it before I could stop myself because soon the back of his ringed hand was swinging for my face and I fortified myself for the impact, but it never came. A rough shove to my shoulder caught my attention instead and I landed on my butt in the driveway.

Of course Bob didn't stop himself, he doesn't have the heart to ; it was Kieran as she caught his wrist in her hand before anything could happen to me. I saw her squeezing and digging her nails into his arm as his stance wavered.

Slowly, little dribbles of blood trailed down his arm, but Kieran didn't let go and Bob didn't move. The two of them in a face off, glaring at each other like dirt, never ceasing.

"Kieran." I called, but she seemed lost, too focused to even hear me.

"Kieran." I yelled this time as I smacked her on the shoulder. Still, she didn't move, didn't acknowledge my existence. The streams of blood became larger, thicker, more prominent now as more and more blood spilled out of his wrist. His breathing and bleeding getting heavier by the second the more she dug her nails into his arm.

"KIERAN." this time I shouted with everything my voice had and could handle while punching her shoulder with the force of ten men. This time she turned to me with fire in her eyes before she realized it was me and she slowly calmed down before dropping her hand from Bob's wrist and looked to me with fear realizing what she must have done.

"C'mon, lets go." I spoke as I looked back to Bob to see the same rage that Kieran had in her eyes in his. We took off running with Bob after us, going down the street and turning corners while jumping bushes all the while trying to lose Bob. it was times like this I thanked God for Kieran being a track star, and me taking morning runs and building stamina and stability. soon Bob was no longer behind us, being out of breathe from running for too long.

;

"I don't know what happened, I just kinda blacked out, I guess." Kieran explained when I asked what that had been about while cleaning her bloodied fist.

"You looked about ready to murder him." I chuckled as I put down the once white cloth in my hands, inspecting her for any injuries.

"Oh believe me, if you hadn't stopped me I might have." she shook her head, hopping off the counter and walking out of the bathroom.

We were at the Curtis residence for a pre-celebration before heading off to the lake for the fireworks show later.

"You can't be serious, that actually happened?" Ponyboy yelled from the living room when Kieran and I told everyone what had happened and why we were storming in here breathing heavily with Kieran all bloody.

"Yes." we both replied in unison as everyone looked to Kieran in shock.

"At least we know not to get on her bad side." Two-bit joked to lighten the mood of the atmosphere.

"She actually did that?" Dally asked just to make sure he was hearing correctly.

"My personal body guard." I smirked at him

"Wow, skinny Miss Innocent, who could never hurt a fly, has some guts." he snorted shaking his head disbelievingly.

"Yup."

;

I watched from the beach chair as the fireworks exploded in the sky into blues and reds and silvers scattering before falling to the ground as ash. It always amazes me how something so small, so insignificant could be so beautiful and yet so dangerous.

I could not fathom the thoughts running through my head at a hyperactive speed.

I also found it strange how this holiday, celebrated every year, could bring so many people together and could create peace, at least for one night between two groups of people in an all out war.

I sighed looking up at the sky as another explosion rang out while taking a sip from my cup.

"How have you been?" Darry asked as he walked up from further down the shoreline to sit next to me.

"Fine." I replied in short while smiling sarcastically.

"That's good." He nodded while looking to the sky, a cup in his hand and his hair slightly messed.

"Sure." I let my eyebrows rise and fall in a sarcastic manner while my lips were in a tight line.

"Look I'm sor-"

"No you aren't. It had to be said, right? Whatever. Anyways lets just leave it be, I don't care anymore."

;

"So Dally, what's New York like?" I asked randomly after being bored from the silence in the room. A pack of poker cards laying forgotten on the table between us all.

"Yeah, Dal, tell us." Everyone around me encouraged

"I don't talk about New York." Dally muttered

"I mean the sights and everything, the buildings that touch the sky and the lights that never go out, the everlasting sounds of the busy city and the seemingly real promise of a new life and youthfulness. Did you see the big green lady?" I persisted

"I said I don't talk about New York, dammit."
Dallas cursed with clenched teeth slamming hand on table and storming out.

*minutes later*

"I'll go check on him." I walked out to front porch

"You see Dallas, I- I, well I'm, I'm kind of a stubborn person-"

"You're telling me." He snorted mockingly as if it was unbelievable

"So, so I don't really apologize, or use my manners or really anything I've been told on countless occasions, and maybe, maybe I don't do a lot of the things I should. But here I am, Olivia Sheldon, apologizing, for bruising your ego or hurting whatever untouched unharsh, uncold feelings you may have left, do you better suck it up and accept it. And it's obvious I hit a nerve in there, and obviously I don't know what for or about and you won't tell us, so I'm sorry for just being curious, for just being a girl who has never left this shit town wanting to know what a big city looks and feels like on a firsthand account. And I still want to know, and they in there still want to know what it was like so maybe we should go in there and you should tell us even if you have to lie your ass off about every damn thing. Or maybe we should just go in there and act like we never even had this conversation and we should all eat chocolate cake and greasy diner food and make awkward conversation while we watch Mickey Mouse. Your move, Winston."
I arched a brow with my hands on my hips.

.:you are the poem that breathes:.

Guys, my phone is messing up {because I dropped it in like an inch of water for .5 seconds} so I kinda want to turn it in on Apple insurance saying that it's not because I dropped it in water and get a new phone {if they think I'm eligible} because it's still under a year so they'll replace it & I kinda want a new phone, idk. But if I say something to my mom she'll be royally pissed. So idk what to do :(

But I'm pretty sure regular Apple insurance does not cover water damage so :(. And because I just got this phone if we turn it in to ATT, it will be around a $100 co-pay to get it fixed/replaced. :((.

I had a weird ass dream last night, though.

I met one of my wattpad readers and her best friend was there too who also reads my books & she had a blind brother. To get to her house we had to go under this electric fence which was halfway in water from where it has rained and if we messed up we'd be electrocuted and it was summer time. Then we like hung out and it was suddenly dark out nightish like three minutes after a sunset I guess and I was all like 'it's getting dark out, I should go home.' And after I said that we looked out the window and suddenly it was light and there was snow on the ground. Idek what is wrong with my mind and the things it comes up with.
