Chapter 14: Fight for your loved ones

"Hand over the brat and we might let you live." The leader ordered. Keith slowly puts you down on the ground but you held on to him tightly.

"Keef?" You said in a worried tone. He wasn't really going to abandon you, was he?

"It's going to be okay, trust me" He whispered for only you to hear. You nodded your head and let him go so you would be sitting on the floor.

"What are you waiting for? Hand her over!" He yelled taking a step forward with his hand hovering over his laser gun. Keith watched him carefully as he tugged on his gloves and flexed his hand.

"Y/n, remember the game 'Last one standing'?" You looked at him confused but nodded. "Let's play. When I say now, you're gonna closes your eyes and wait until I tell you okay?" You nodded once again in understanding.

"That's' rich. You think you can take us all on?" The leader laughed cracking his knuckles.

"Fuck yeah." The leader scowled at Keith.

"Prepare to die!" He yelled and charged at Keith.

"Now!"

"Keef!" You yelled out and covered your eyes with your hands. Keith was confused as to why you called his name out and then remembered the other rule of the game.

Call out the name of the person you think is going to win.

Keith smirked and rushed forward with his Bayard sword appearing in his right hand.

Trying to get the first hit, Keith swings his sword and barely even grazes his opponent's stomach.

He tries again and lunges at him but once again he slips away. "You'll never defeat me with that kind of fighting style boy!" He swings his fist and lands a hit right in Keith's face. "My name is Ardack! I am feared throughout the entire Galaxy! Be grateful you'll be slain by such a great worrier!" Without warning, he took out a pocket knife and sliced across Keith's arm. You flinched hearing him cry out in pain.

Ardack took the chance and bolted for you but Keith immediately threw his sword making it land right in front of you, injuring Ardack's left hand.

"Ahh!" He yelled in agony seeing the tip of his index finger dangling.

"Next time it won't just be your finger." Keith threatened as he ran over with his Mormoran sword in his right hand.

Ardack had to step back to dodge the attack. With a grunt, he yanked what was left of his finger and turned to his soldiers.

"What are you idiots waiting for?! Get that girl!" He commanded clearly angered.

Keith counted quickly in his head, in total 5 against 1, that doesn't seem fair. He needed more distance between you and them.

"Sorry about this kiddo," Keith said before pushing you backward, making you roll to the far corner of the training ground. You yelped in surprise and looked towards Keith with fear coursing through your little veins. He had his Bayard out and his Mormoran blade extended in a fighting stance.

You couldn't just sit there as you watched Keith turn left and right to fight off the enemy, there had to be something for you to do...

You looked around the room frantically and noticed the top room, where the controls were to make the training sequences. You immediately got up and ran towards the control room while everyone was still distracted.

You begged your legs to run faster as you got closer to your destination. Once you got there you climbed to the top of the counter.

Now, how the heck does this thing work?!

You felt your heart pound as you searched for anything that could help. You sighed in frustration and punched any random button. There was a ringing noise and robot soldiers popped up from under the ground where Keith was.

But they started to attack him too.

Your eyes went wide. This wasn't going to help him!

You frantically started pushing a bunch of buttons causing the robots to turn on and off but then they turned to the enemy and started attacking them. You sighed in relief and decided not to push any other buttons. At least now it was 5 against 3.

You carefully got off the counter but slipped in the process, thankfully, someone caught you before you could hit the ground.

You turned to look at Keith-

Scratch that,

Ardack, with a terrified expression.

"What do you say we take you back now." He said with a smirk and held on to you tightly as you tried to squirm your way out.

Once you two were on the bottom floor, you could see Keith in the distance and with whatever energy you had left you screamed like bloody hell.

Keith whipped his head around and directed his full attention to you. He had murderous eyes as he dashed for you and you took the chance to bite down on Ardack's hand, making him let you go long enough for Keith to plunge his sword through his right shoulder.

You closed your eyes, not wanting to see his blade slice through the enemy.

Keith retracted his Bayard and quickly picked you up only to be hit on his side by one of the century soldiers. Keith grunted in pain as he wiped some blood from the corner of his mouth.

You fell to the ground with a thud on your left shoulder, knowing that would form a really bad bruise later. You covered your eyes once again, waiting for Keith to tell you when it was all over. The only thing you could hear was Keith's heavy pants, the clanking of metal against metal, and the quick footsteps of about three people.

Suddenly you heard the sound of electricity sparking and crackling.

"Done," Keith said in an exhausted voice. You opened your eyes and looked around to see the soldiers on the ground. "looks like I win." Keith said weakly with a smile. You smiled as well and got up to run over to him.

Keith took weak steps towards you but soon came to a stop. He felt a sharp pain in his side. He looked down to see the tip of a blade puncturing his side.

He looked back at you and saw your horror-stricken expression. Before he could say anything, he fell to his knees and then onto the ground.

"I'll admit, you do put up a good fight." Ardack stood up and dusted himself off. "But you're not nearly as strong as me." The leader then made his way over to you and you quickly looked around for anything to defend yourself, then you saw it. You rushed to grab the wooden sword that was still on the ground aways away. You got into a defensive stance and braced yourself.

"How adorable." The leader smacked away your sword, making it fly to the other side of the room and leaving you defenseless. "You're coming with us whether you like it or not."

"Don't you dare lay a hand on her!" Keith managed to say. He tried to stand but his legs failed him, making him fall to the ground once again. You were terrified about what was coming and made a run for it but your little legs weren't fast enough.

Ardack easily caught you but you thrashed around and tried your best to squirm out but to no avail. Then a few other soldiers entered the room and walked over to their leader.

"Heres the serum sir." One of them said while handing over a syringe.

"Good, now go inform Lord Zarkon that we have captured Y/n." You looked at the mean man in horror. "Now, it's time you came back."

"No!" Keith shouted with all his might. The leader punctured your arm with the syringe, making you scream in pain. "Let her go!" Keith tried to stand up again but his vision started getting blurry.

"I think I heard them in here!" Those were the last words he heard before falling unconscious.

~

Keith heard a strange sound but then felt himself falling forward. Hunk managed to catch him before he could hit the ground.

"Guys! Keith's waking up!" Hunk called out to the others who quickly got to the healing pod room.

Keith, on the other hand, felt confused and disoriented.

"What's going on?" He asked seeing the whole group present. But then it hit him. Everything that recently happened. "Where's Y/n?" He asked While trying to walk but felt a sharp pain in his side.

"Whoa there Keith. Careful, you don't want to reopen any wounds." Shiro advised.

"Where's Y/n?" He asked again, ignoring his advice. Everyone exchanged a look.

"She's still in her healing pod." Lance answered.

"What?" Keith breathed. Hunk helped him walk over to your healing pod.

"After you passed out, Pidge and I managed to get to you guys and take out the last of the soldiers." Matt said, also looking at your pod.

"But they injected her with something. We're still trying to figure out what it is." Pidge added.

Keith carefully walked over to your pod, you had dirt marks on your face along with some scratches and the healing suit was obviously too big for you.

"How much longer?" Keith asked.

"We're not sure. But the maximum time someone can be in a healing pod is 2 weeks, from there on we have to take care of her." Said Allura taking a step forward.

"I'm gonna go get cleaned up." Said Keith walking away.

"Do you need help?" Shiro asked.

"I'm fine." He responded almost immediately. He made his way to his room but stopped by yours, he walked in seeing it still messy with crayons, colored papers, and toys on the floor.

A little girl without a care in the world huh?

~

"Shiro we need to talk." Keith said, refreshed as he walked into his room.

"What's wrong?"

"Once Y/n's healed, I think we should take her back to earth." He said straightforwardly. Shiro looked to a side and sighed.

"Yeah, I was thinking the same thing since we don't have to worry about Zarkon anymore." Shiro obviously disliked the idea but knew it was for the best. They couldn't keep a 3-year-old on the ship any longer.

"When are we going to tell the others?" Keith asked already feeling depressed that you won't be with them anymore.

"As soon as possible, we don't want them to feel too bad once she leaves."

"Right..." Keith looked at the floor and then felt Shiro's hand on his left shoulder.

"I know it's gonna be hard saying goodbye, she was really a good asset to our team, but we can't keep putting her life at risk." Shiro said sadly.

"Yeah, I know." Keith shrugged Shiro's hand off and started walking out. "I'm gonna go check up on Y/n." He said before walking out.

~

A few more days have passed and they were reaching the end of the two-week mark, all that was left was for you to exit the pod to see how bad the damage was.

Keith was sitting at the base of your pod with his back towards you. Everyone else was in the lounge thinking of what's going to happen after you leave. Keith was falling asleep from time to time since for the last couple of days he hasn't really been sleeping well.

He could hear the sound of the ticker Coran left the last time he was here but then a different noise sounded and that's when Keith realized it was the healing pod.

Keith stood up and the pod had a kind of smoke coming out before you fell out.
