the halls filled with students messing around making out before the bell rang. for once it wasnt the football team playing around in the halls and being loud like usual. they were all too busy looking in their lockers for the goodies left by the girls.

"man she gave me jerky sticks and a bunch of tootsie rolls." woosung smiled down at the bucket of candies. "the ppyeosan hawks are on a roll." he read the note that came with it and held it against his chest, "she is an angel." he was gushing over his gift from his rally girl.

taehyung spun the lock on his and chuckled at his friend. "i wonder what you got." woosung took out one candy and left the rest in his locker, slamming it shut and walking closer to the quarterback.

taehyung opened the metal door and saw the plastic bag sitting on tip of his textbooks, the little bow tied so nicely keeping it all together. "cookies." he smiled at them and looked over at woosung, "simple but effective." the half-back said.

"what did you get yunho?" taehyung called a few lockers down, seeing the tall male holding a bunch of magazines and flipping through the first one. "porn." he said simply, too busy browsing to look up.

the bell rang and the football players slammed their lockers shut. "see you guys at lunch." taehyung said, taking a couple cookies and leaving the rest on his textbooks in the locker.

"see ya." some of the guys said, but his friend woosung followed him down the hall. "whats your homeroom again?" he asked, already chewing on another tootsie roll and unwrapping an additional one. "some english class." taehyung said, looking back at his schedule slip to double check he was going into the right room.

"get to class before coach kicks your ass for being late." taehyung said to his friend, opening the door to his homeroom and shooting smile at woosung. "that was last year, im a changed man." woosung defended himself, just for the bell to ring and his eyes to widen. "damn it." he yelled before heading down the hall in a run.

"please enter mr. kim." it was his teacher who wanted to start class. the students had already taking their books out and opened to the right page. taehyung wasnt even sure if he purchased the material yet. "sorry." he said, shutting the classroom door and walking down the row of seats to his own. there was only one left, second to last in the middle row. he sat down in front of a boy, eyes down and reading ahead apparently.

"alright lets get started." their teacher began with the lecture and talking about the content they would be covering that morning.

that meant it was time for taehyung to tune it out and think about practice starting this week. he needed to start his morning runs and conditioning after schools so when practice started friday for next weeks game he'd be somewhat prepared.

there was no part of today that he paid attention to. the only sound he heard was the bell ringing between classes and then everyone being excited that it was lunch now and no lectures for thirty minutes.

taehyung looked around for his friends at their usual table. he grinned when he spotted the jerseys and sports bag sitting on top of lunch tables. "hey q.b." one of the guys yelled when he spotted the handsome brunette walking up. taehyung fist bumped a few of them and nodded at others across the table in greeting. he sat down in one of the middle seats, trying to catch up on what the guys were already saying.

"hey q.b." it was someone else talking to him now, a sweet voice like sugar and a pretty face to match it. mirae held onto her bag strap and smiled down at the football player. "did you like your gift?" she asked.

taehyung smiled too, charming as ever and turning better to face the girl. "i absolutely did, hoping theres more where that came from." he said. some of the other guys made noises as they listened, whistling too and earning a glare from their team captain.

mirae clearly didnt mind, she knows she dressed nice today and had to legs to show for it. "did you want to come over after school? work on some math?" she invited the captain over, seeing the way taehyung nodded at that. "see you then." he said.

now he actually had something to look forward to. it made getting through the rest of the day easier and even putting more effort into pretending to seem like he was paying attention in his last few classes. "so do you like her? are you guys gonna like, you know." it was woosung pestering his friend with all these questions once the final bell for the day rang. taehyung had glanced over occasionally and shook his head at how ridiculous he was sounding.

"we're going to work on some homework." taehyung finally said, heading out to the parking lot towards his car.

woosung stopped and there was a little crinkle between his eyebrows now as he stood looking confused, "its the second day of school, how do you have homework already." he asked.

"see you tomorrow!" taehyung called over his shoulder, throwing his backpack through the open window of his truck as he walked around to get inside the drivers seat. he had seen the red car on its way already, leaving some minutes ago to head home.

taehyung already knew the way, mirae had texted him after lunch and the road sounded familiar.

it was a short drive, down some dirt roads and past a pasture where cows stood together in the distance with the sun beating down on their backs. taehyung drove with his windows down and let the wind block out any other noises as it blew past his ears. he only slowed when he turned down the road he recognized the name of, looking for that red car and being grateful that mirae drove something that stood out like that.

he parked on the side of the road down by their mailbox, turning off the ignition and remembering to take his backpack with him. mirae's car was the only one in the driveway, so taehyung hoped that meant she was the only one that was home. it felt like a little weight had been lifted off his chest and the football player was looking forward to not meeting any parents today.

there was a white fence surrounding the yard, but no gate up front. taehyung walked up the driveway and knocked on the door, waiting patiently with one hand holding onto his backpack strap and the other reaching up to mess with his hair.

the door swung open seconds later and mirae stood there with a smile. she had changed from her school clothes to something less formal. taehyung really tried not to stare too long at her legs and those little cotton shorts she most likely wore to bed. "hi taehyung." she chirped, eyes squinting slightly with her glossy lips smiling. "come in." she said.

"thank you." taehyung stepped inside and saw some shoes at the door. he figured he'd have to take his off too, which he did.

"my dad went to work already, so no ones here." mirae said too, "do you want anything to drink? we can work in my room." she said as she walked ahead to the kitchen, opening the fridge and bending over a bit to peer inside.

taehyung followed and looked around the home curiously. "um , just water would be nice." he said, "where's your bathroom?" he asked.

"down that hall, its the first door on the right." she told the male.

mirae glanced over her shoulder and saw the footballer disappear down the hall and then the soft click of the door shutting. she got some water bottles out from the fridge and then a few things to snack on. they had chips and strawberries, which would have to work for them today since she didnt feel like actually making anything.

"why are there voices in our house. i thought dad left." it was her little brothers voice that scared her, coming from no where.

"oh my goodness jungkook." mirae nearly dropped the water bottles from being scared, "why are you so quiet." she glared at him slightly, seeing him stand there in pajamas shorts, his usual sweater and cotton socks on his feet. "and its a friend, we're gonna be studying in my room so dont bother us."

jungkook tilted his head slightly, "is it hyuna? shes nice." he said.

"no, its not hyuna."

"did dad say you can have friends over?" jungkook asked, glancing at the strawberries and seeing how nice and red they were.

mirae sighed and put the water bottles on the counter. "dont you have things to do?" she asked him now, hand on her hip and waiting for a response from the boy who stared back. he shrugged a little. "yeah." was all he said.

"then go do that." mirae said, holding both bowls of strawberries and chips. she couldnt carry everything, and that left the water bottles sitting on the counter for now. she headed for her room and ran into the taehyung in the hallway, "oh," she jumped a little, "i got snacks, the waters are on the counter. i couldnt grab it all." she started to explain.

"no problem, i can go get them." taehyung smiled and stepped aside so mirae can get down the hall to her bedroom.

taehyung made a mental note of which door let to her room and then walked back out to the kitchen. he had been told they were home alone, which was good to know considering if anything was to happen. maybe thats why he wasnt expecting to see anyone in the kitchen, let alone a small boy with fluffy hair, standing there elbow-deep in a box of lucky charms with a bottle of diet mountain dew in his arm pit.

the boys eyes seemed to widen slightly, blinking bright and not saying anything. taehyung reached up to scratch the back of his neck. "uh sorry, i was just looking for-" taehyung saw the waters on the counter top and grabbed them, "these." he said.

jungkook didnt say anything, not as he stared at the tall male in his kitchen. he has never seen this friend of mirae's before, but his face wasn't completely unrecognizable. he's seen this person at school, that was obvious. the football player was basically royalty in this town along with anyone else that knew how to run fast and throw things.

"who are you?" taehyung ended up asking now, feeling more awkward as the silence continued. mirae said no one else was here, it made so sense to forget that.

jungkook rose an eyebrow at that question and wanted to scoff. of course his sister said nothing. its not like he expected a formal introduction, but being questioned like he was a stranger in his own house was a bit much to take it. "have fun with math." was all he muttered as he past, taking his dinner with him and walking to his room.

the door shut quietly, leaving the football player to stand even more confused all on his own.
