As a virologist for the Umbrella Corporation, your hands were clean, but your mind was not.

From the beginning, you were certain you were doing something right. Something special. You believed this—truly, you did. Had you known the horror to come, there was no way you would have gone through with it.

"It" being the creation of t–Virus, a general term for the Progenitor strands that Umbrella hired you to develop.

At only twenty–five, you drafted the formula; by twenty–six, you had perfected it. You've even been assigned to work alongside Dr. William Birkin as he navigated the early stages of producing a retrovirus branching from the formula of your own.

They told you it would change lives, that exposure to the virus would lead to the next evolution of mankind. What they failed to tell you was its potential—its capacity to kill millions in the blink of an eye.

Your virus has contaminated Raccoon City's water supply, and you knew that Umbrella had no intention of sending aid. It was then that you realized they wanted to watch the outbreak occur—even if it would end the lives of one hundred thousand civilians.

Perhaps that was why you'd clandestinely began to work on a vaccine, going against your better judgement and defying your superiors' directives.

You could save them. You could. All you needed to do was get your hands on the draft of the vaccine.

The only obstacle standing in your way is the infected city itself. You'd have to make it to Umbrella's NEST facility and retrieve the formula all before the planned airstrike hits the heart of the city.

You ended the world, and in the same breath, you were more than determined to save it.

✴︎ hello everyone! my name is ana. are we really surprised i published a leon kennedy fic in the year of 2024? if you said no, you're right! he's so cute and i just want to put him in my pocket, and because i can't do that, the next best thing is to write about him in an angsty fanfiction!

✴︎  obviously the fact that the mc created strands of the t–virus is far fetched and not possible in the canon, so for that reason, i'll have to ask you to disregard a few canon things regarding the creation of the t-virus, the g–virus and las plagas. this book does not follow the games' timelines. i use events from re 2–4, but they do not happen in the way they do in the games. i have crafted a universe outside of the canon in which this fic takes place in.

✴︎ i don't dabble much in x reader fics considering i've never published one before, but i genuinely think this book will be more enjoyable that way. after all, it is structured as if you are playing one of the re games, so i figured it might be the best chance for me to experiment with writing in second person. don't worry though, there will still be segments where you're "playing" as leon (aka you get his pov of events).

✴︎ please believe me when i say this: i genuinely do not wish to put the mc's character flaws on any of you. i can see the "i would never do that" comments from a mile away because girl i HOPE you wouldn't!!! a plain ole main character has never gotten us anywhere fun, so please trust me on this. i live and breathe difficult romance so you're in perfectly good hands. (y/n) is spunky and rough around the edges but she's just a girl!

✴︎  i do not use physical descriptions but the mc is described to be shorter than leon and have hair long enough to be pulled into an updo.

✴︎ i use lara croft as a faceclaim for my edits on tiktok but she obviously isn't the main character, i just love making edits for my fics and need to put a face to a name. the mc is yours to imagine!

✴︎ the rights to resident evil go to the creators, shinji mikami and tokuro fujiwara as well as capcom who created the physical games. i do not own the canon characters, dialogue, or plot lines. i only own my unique additions to the pre–existing narrative.
