Ch.19: Operation Y/N and Hikaru's First Date (Prt.2)
-L/N Mansion-16 years ago-
A four-year-old peeked curiously into the bedroom that he heard his mother's voice singing a lullaby that had once been sung to him, and he saw the woman with similar unkempt blonde hair sitting on a rocking chair and swaying back and forth with a pink bundle in her arms.
"Brian." Hearing a voice behind him, the boy stiffened and shyly glanced behind him to look at his usually serious father, who was looking at him with a proud smile. "You can come in." He told him.
Nodding hesitantly, the boy shuffled on the white carpet towards where his mother was lovingly watching him while continuing to hum the familiar lullaby.
"Do you want to hold her? She won't bite. At least, not yet." The woman giggled, standing up slowly and allowing the boy to take her place in the rocking chair, as she gently rested the infant in his arms, instructing him how to hold her.
"That's your new baby sister. Y/N." His father told the boy, walking up and placing his hand on his wife's shoulder in a loving gesture as she nestled up to him.
"Y/N." The boy repeated softly, smiling at the little girl, before giggling as she began to make a clicking noise in response to her name. "She sounds like a timewatch." He stated, in which caused his parents to laugh in response.
(Mother/Name) then took the infant back into her arms and carried her back to the crib that was in the middle of the (F/C) painted room.
"Now, as heir to the L/N fortune, I'm going to need you to promise that you'll protect Y/N. She will be taking over the role as time traveler." (Father/Name) told the boy, who's eyes widened.
"I thought that I would be a time traveler too!" The boy exclaimed.
"Now Brian." (M/N) softly scolded the boy, as if to tell him not to make the baby fuss after she had just quieted her down.
"Being a time traveler is a difficult task, Brian. I need someone here to make sure that everything stays smooth." (F/N) attempted to calm his son down. "And you know that the role is always given to the second oldest." He added.
Brian scowled, before he sighed and glanced into the crib where young Y/N had begun to try and grab the star on the baby mobile that was too far out of reach. Finding a smile come onto his lips, the boy let the baby grab a few of his fingers that he wiggled in front of her face as she made the clicking noise again. "I promise to never leave your side, Timewatch."
-Market-Next Day-Present-
"That guy is fifteen minutes late. I swear, if he ditched me I'm going to throw a vase at him next time I see him!" Y/N fumed.
It was bad enough that she had agreed to go on a 'date' with Kaoru, when she should be doing something more appropriate to apologize for hurting his brother, but she had also been forced into a dress! Well, forced might have been too strong of a word. Y/N wanted to look cute, it was a date after all, and though she hated wearing a dress, it was good enough weather for it.
Now, she was standing in the middle of the market, in a dress, looking probably like an idiotic girl who had just been stood up!
"Sorry that I'm late." Bringing herself out of her mental pouting, Y/N blinked and watched the amber eyed male walk up towards her, looking as if he wanted to be anywhere but there at the moment.
"Hikaru? Where's Kaoru?" Y/N asked the older twin, causing his cheeks to dust a light pink.
"Well, you see...He's sick." Hikaru told her, remembering the coughing fit that his twin was having earlier this morning, and how the only reason he was there right now was because he had promised he'd make it so Y/N wouldn't stop speaking to him, as Kaoru had dramatically claimed she would.
"Oh." Y/N suddenly looked upset, as she realized that she had let her emotions get to her once more. She should've known that there was a reasonable explanation, Kaoru was the more responsible twin, after all. "Should we head back, then?" She asked Hikaru.
"No, I'll go out with you in his place." Hikaru told her. He then glanced Y/N up and down, his blush becoming more apparent as he noticed the outfit the female was wearing.
She had on a dark blue sundress that had a white daisy design, a bright yellow belt wrapped around her waist loosely, and brown sandals. Her (H/L) (H/C) locks were pulled into a side-braid, with a mini daisy clip in her hair.
"That aside, what's up with that get up?" Hikaru asked her.
"It's a bit weird, isn't it? Sorry, Ranka-san bought it for me a little after I moved in, and I never really found a good reason to wear it." Y/N sheepishly explained to him.
"No, it's fine." Hikaru told her.
Both were completely unaware of the group a bit away, hiding in a commoner coffee shop in different disguises. [A/N: Fun fact, the gif above is from the OHSHC Live Action, which is in fact a blessing, am I wrong?]
"Why should I let Y/N and Hikaru have a date?! After yesterday's events, how did it turn out like this?!" Tamaki shouted at Kaoru, shaking the poor younger twin back and forth.
"This would be N/N-chan's first date, huh?" Honey innocently questioned Mori, who he knew had known Y/N long enough to probably answer. Though, the blond was completely confused as to how. Mori, in reply, nodded his head.
Tamaki, noticing this, began to dramatically breath fire. "Aah! I'll get you for this, Hikaru! And what's with that outfit?! She's hyper-cute! Hyper-cute!" The blond shouted, pointing in the direction of the duo as they began to walk past the café.
"Oh, Dad gave that to her." Haruhi, who had also been dragged along, answered. He, too, seemed quite reluctant about this whole ordeal.
"You know, sir, I think it would be very good for Hikaru and Y/N to have more people who are dear to them." Kaoru began to speak as the group left the small shop in order to follow the time traveler and older twin. This seemed to cause Tamaki to pause his ranting. "For the longest time, the only people who were dear to us were ourselves. We felt like it didn't matter what anyone else thought of us, and that's how we got our self-centered disposition. And, you know how Y/N is. She might not be showing it, but she's just the same."
"And you realized it?" Tamaki asked with a pokerface.
"Hikaru is especially childish, so he charges into things on just emotion. Y/N, while she seems to be on a completely other level than any of us knowledge wise, is the complete same." Kaoru stated. "Still, although Hikaru doesn't seem to be aware of it, he's become quite fond of Y/N and Haruhi."
"Then why didn't you invite Haruhi to go too?!" Tamaki questioned.
"I'd rather not get involved." Haruhi, in reply, stated in a blunt tone. Much to Tamaki's disappointment.
"Hikaru just doesn't know how to act, except to force his own feelings onto others, so he becomes monopolizing, like a child." Kaoru explained, frowning as he remembered what had happened the day before. "And Y/N, she keeps her feelings to herself, until she can't hold them back any longer and she explodes. If you want to have true friends, and not just toys or tools, you have to respect the other person, don't you?" He questioned, smiling sadly.
"Kaoru, you're amazing." Tamaki said, though didn't look all too impressed by this sudden analysis on Hikaru and Y/N.
"So what you're saying is that this date is a trial, to get Hikaru to foster feelings of consideration for someone else. And for Y/N to learn to express her feelings rather than bottle them up." Kyoya summarized what Kaoru had been attempting to explain.
"So make sure you don't interfere with them, okay?" Kaoru asked the group.
"Then we don't have to follow them, right?" Haruhi asked, wishing more than anything to be able to go back to bed.
"There's no reason for us not to watch something this interesting, is there?" Kaoru asked, suddenly 'hiding' behind a tree to watch the couple walking up ahead. This caused the group to sweatdrop.
-Green Island-11 year ago-
"Timewatch, hold my hand." The nine-year-old boy insisted, snatching the easily distracted female's hand with a huff as he began to tug her away from the park as the sky began to grow dark.
"Ow! Big brother, you didn't let me say good-bye to Aoba*." Y/N whined, glancing back in the direction of the park, before glaring up at her older brother.
"It's getting dark out, and I don't want to get in trouble with Father." Brian insisted, glancing down at the female with his usual caring smile, which caused the girl's glare to soften and turn into a childish pout.
"I start training tomorrow, will you be there, Big brother?" The five-year-old questioned, swinging their arms as they walked down the almost completely empty streets of the island.
"Of course I will, Timewatch." Brian chuckled, ruffling the female's hair and causing her to whine, before giggling.
The two then stopped walking as they stood in front of a convenience store. "I'll be right back. You want a (F/Flavor) ice cream, right?" Brian asked the little girl, who happily nodded her head. "Alright, stay right here." He told her, and Y/N obediently sat on the curb.
The little girl boredly waited for her brother to get back, until she caught sight of a blue butterfly, and she grinned as she stood up from her spot and attempted to catch it. Blue butterflies were Brian's favorite animal, after all.
As she blindly followed the insect, the female paused as she watched the butterfly suddenly fly over a wooden fence.
"Where...am I...?" The female asked herself, spinning around in a circle for any familiar points, which was hard to do since it was almost completely dark. Besides the full moon and a couple of street lamps. "Brian? Brian!?" She began to shout out her brother's name, tears beginning to fill the five-year-old's eyes and blurring her vision.
"Well, well, if it isn't the time traveler." Sneered a voice, causing the girl to shakily glance at the three boys, who easily looked to be in middle school. "Battle in any wars yet?" One of the boys smirked at her.
"N-no. I still have to train before I can go out on the field." The girl stated, blinking her (E/C) owlishly like the innocent child that she was.
"Looks like someone's got a smart mouth. Maybe we should fix that, eh?" The leader of the group smirked at his friends, who began to snicker.
As the boy held up his fist, Y/N flinched and closed her eyes tightly, ready for the impact that never came. "Brian!" Opening her eyes wide, Y/N looked in awe as she saw the 9-year-old holding the older boy's fist.
"Stay back, Timewatch." Brian ordered, in which Y/N was glad to listen to. "Picking on a little girl is kind of low, even for scum like you guys, don't you think? Is it hard to find victims your own age after Koujaku beat you up?" Brian smirked at the group.
"S-shut up!" The leader stuttered out, barely managing to pull his fist out of Brian's grip without his wrist snapping. "You were lucky this time, Time Princess, but next time you won't have your knight in shining armor." He stated, before panickly running away. The other two quick to follow.
"Big brother!" Y/N cried out, wrapping her arms around Brian, who happily returned the embrace, before he pulled her back at arms length.
"I told you to wait for me, Y/N! What if I hadn't gotten here in time?!" Brian scolded the female, causing the little girl to cry even more. He then sighed and hugged her once more. "Don't leave my side ever again, alright?" He asked, in which Y/N shakily nodded her head in agreement.
She never wanted to be left alone like that ever again.
--Meanwhile-
"So, Y/N, where do you want to go?" Hikaru questioned the female as they sat on a bench in the market.
"Kaoru said he would show me around, so I haven't thought of anything. You, Hikaru?" The female asked, glancing at the male as he flipped through a magazine.
"I've got nothing I need to do in Karuizawa now." Hikaru looked skeptical, before flinching as he remembered his promise to escort the female properly. "Okay, how about the outlet mall in front of the train station?" He offered. "They have cheap clothes there."
"Fine with me. Did you need anything specific?" Y/N asked.
"No, we don't need to buy anything there." Hikaru said, showing his own way of caring. Though, it seemed to completely fly over the female's head.
"I don't really need anything." Y/N shrugged her shoulders, then glanced up at the blue and white sky. "Misuzu-san said that the weather might not hold. I sure hope there aren't any thunderstorms." She said, silently worrying for Haruhi, as she knew that he was afraid of them. And she knew that it would be horrible if she left him to deal with it alone.
"Who cares about the weather?" Hikaru asked, a bit annoyed by the change in topic.
--Meanwhile-
"Aah! What a tedious date this is!" Tamaki shouted from the Host Club's hiding spot. "As stiff as you're acting, you call yourself a Host Club member?! Switch with me, Hikaru! I'll escort her instead!"
"Then there would be any meaning!" Kaoru, who was trying to hold Tamaki back from launching himself at the couple, exclaimed.
"Then, Kyoya, you go make like a punk, and pick a fight with Y/N!" Tamaki ordered the megane. "That will let Hikaru rescue her!"
"While I would never give up a chance to bicker with her, wait until you're asleep to dream this stuff up." Kyoya replied sourly.
"Ice cream! Ice cream! Anyone want ice cream?!" Honey called out, walking by with a cart, sunhat, and a false mustache. Though, Mori had been able to swipe the small blond before he could be seen by Hikaru or Y/N.
"Don't." Mori stated, handing an ice cream to the sweets-loving male.
"Didn't that old coot just now look sort of like Honey-senpai?" Hikaru asked, glancing in the direction that Y/N was sitting, before noticing that the female was, unexpectedly, missing. "Huh?" His eyes then widened as he noticed her ordering ice cream at a nearby stall.
"One (F/Flavor) please." The (H/C) smiled.
"Hey, Y/N! Don't go off on your own!" Hikaru exclaimed, walking up behind her.
"I hear the ice cream here is famous. Here." Y/N insisted, and held up the cone of (F/Flavor) ice cream. "You can have the first bite." She smiled cutely at him.
"If it's no good, there'll be a penalty game." Hikaru warned, before leaning to take a bite of the ice cream, only to be smacked away by an oddly dressed ice cream mender with blond hair, sunglasses, and a false mustache.
"What a pretty young girl! Have another one on the house!" He exclaimed, handing another cone of the preferred flavor to Y/N.
"Oh, thank you." Y/N accepted the free treat, before licking at the sweet frozen cream. "It's really good!" She beamed, her eyes seeming to sparkle.
"You're right, it's better than I expected." Hikaru agreed as he ate his own.
The two then once more began to walk around the market, seeming to not hear the shouts from within the ice cream van.
"I think Haruhi-nii would like a lot of the things here." Y/N casually commented as she glanced around, finishing off the waffle cone after eating all of her ice cream. "That sign says pickled yams, that's unusual, don't you think?" She asked, smiling up at Hikaru.
"Pickled food is so lame. Who even cares?" Hikaru responded, looking at her critically. Why does she act as if yesterday didn't happen? He wondered as he watched her happily skip up to the venue and pick up a bag of the food.
"Here." Y/N insisted, picking up one of the samples on the table and holding it out to the ginger.
Hikaru sighed and took a bite of the food, his eyes slightly widening at the taste. "Okay, so it's good..." He muttered, glancing away from her sheepishly.
"Well then, three bags of these, please." Y/N told the clerk.
"If you're buying souvenirs, shouldn't you wait until your last day?" Hikaru asked her as the clerk began to bag up the groceries. "You're going to be in Karuizawa for a while, right?"
"These are a gift for Kaoru and Haruhi-nii." Y/N replied, accepting the bag from the clerk and turning to look up at Hikaru. "I feel bad that neither of them could come, even though I know that they really wanted to. Maybe we could all go on an outing together later, couldn't we?" She innocently asked him. "We can go around the different shops and choose some gifts for Kaoru." Y/N then added.
"How can you tell that I'm feeling anxious about Kaoru?" Hikaru asked, sheepishly staring in a different direction than the female.
"Hmm..Maybe it's a twin thing!" Y/N grinned.
"Haruhi isn't your actual twin brother though." Hikaru huffed.
"Hmm...Then, just because." Y/N snickered at his reaction and began to walk by him. "Alrighty, let's get going!" She cheered.
Hikaru glanced after her and found himself smiling, a soft pink dusting his cheeks. Perhaps this wouldn't be as bad as he thought that it would be.
-L/N Mansion-8 years ago-
"They were so mean, Mommy!" Y/N whimpered as the frail older woman held her close to her chest as they sat on the bed in the master bedroom. "Why is the world filled with so many bullies?!"
"Now, Y/N." (M/N) softly scolded her daughter, sighing before she smiled at the girl. "There are some people in this world who act the way that they do because something had happened to cause them to be that way. Perhaps, someone had been mean to them as well." She told the little girl.
Y/N frowned, before she seemed to look to understand as she smiled brightly at the blonde woman, hugging her happily. "Next time I see the Hitachiin twins, I'm going to become their friend!" She exclaimed, before jumping off of the bed. "Thank you, Mommy." Y/N smiled at the woman who returned the smile and nodded her head.
"Just remember, no one likes to be alone, Y/N." The woman said, moving a strand of the female's (H/C) hair behind her ear.
Y/N tilted her head, attempting to understand her mother's words, before shrugging them off with a smile. "Ok, Mommy! Can I go play with the twins now?" She excitedly asked, talking about her younger twin siblings.
"Of course, I think they were about to bake cookies with Nana." (M/N) smiled, and kissed the top of Y/N's head, before sadly watching her daughter excitedly skip out of the bedroom and towards the kitchen.
___Quick Time Skip___
"Hmm...The bickering had seemed to stop." Y/N muttered, glancing around her for any sign of the stalking members of the Host Club. She might be oblivious to some things, but Y/N was well aware of her surroundings. Especially when that involved a certain group. "They must have gone back."
"Did you say something?" Hikaru questioned, stopping his walking to turn back and look at the female.
"Huh? Oh, I said that these looked really pretty!" Y/N smiled at the ginger haired male and motioned to a tea set that had a lilac design in one of the shopping windows.
"You don't really seem like the type of person who'd be interested in something so delicate." Hikaru casually commented, causing the female to roll her eyes.
"What is that supposed to mean?" She asked, jabbing his side with her elbow, before huffing as she looked at the set once more. "My mother believed in hobbies, such as collecting glass animals. Since a young age my siblings and I collected one thing as our own hobby. Mine was tea sets." She told him, causing Hikaru's eyes to widen as he learned a new piece of information about the female.
"How about your other siblings?" Hikaru gambled at his chance of finding out something that even Kyoya wouldn't know about.
"Hmm..." Y/N tapped her chin, as if trying to remember. "My older brother collected coins, while my younger sister collects snowglobes, and my younger brother collects piggy banks. I miss them."
"So you have three siblings..." As if just realizing what she had said, Y/N's eyes widened and she quickly looked away from Hikaru.
"Anyways! That's all in the future, and you don't have to worry about it. Let's keep going, ok?" Y/N asked, grabbing at his hand and beginning to pull him away.
The two then glanced up in surprise as a girl dressed in all black handed them a flyer. "We are telling fortunes. If you're interested, please come." The girl said, before walking away from them.
"Black Magic Club Fortune-telling in Karuiawa...? Oh! Neko-kun must be here!" Y/N exclaimed, her eyes widening in both surprise and excitement, as Hikaru looked at her from the corner of his eye.
"Huh?!" Looking in a different direction, Hikaru's eyes widened as he suddenly saw a long line. Y/N seemed just as surprised as she followed his gaze.
"There's no reason for Nekozawa-senpai to be at this kind of resort spot." Hikaru insisted as the two walked up the stairwell that the long line led to. "Nekozawa-senpai?" He then muttered in surprise when they got close to the top and saw said male wearing a pair of sunglasses in front of a crystal ball.
"In resort style too." Y/N couldn't help but to giggle as she saw Belzenef also had sunglasses on.
___Quick Time skip____
"Hitachiin-kun, what a coincidence. I'm using this vacation to propagate black magic in Karuizawa." He explained, before glancing over at Y/N. "My, my, you're here with a cute girlfriend. Is it just me or does she look a lot like N/N?" Umehito asked, raising his sunglasses to look at the female.
"I can look cute whenever I want to, Neko-kun!" Y/N exclaimed, a bright blush crossing her features, as well as Hikaru's.
"And furthermore, she's not my girlfriend!" The ginger told the female's childhood friend.
"Oh~? Did you come up here just to tell me hello, then? That's so sweet~!" Umehito chuckled at the two's responses, though his smile seemed grim as he watched how the two were together.
"Do you treat all your customers so rudely?" Y/N whined, pouting slightly as Umehito looked at her and chuckled.
"Of course not, just the cute ones like you, N/N." He teased, causing Y/N's cheeks to turn a darker shade.
"Hey, let's go." Hikaru told Y/N, before beginning to walk back down the steps.
"Agh...Um, I'll see you later, Neko-kun." Y/N smiled at the darkly dressed male, before she followed after Hikaru as quickly as she could. "Hikaru, wait up! Hikaru!" She called out.
As soon as Y/N got to the bottom step, she lost sight of Hikaru in the crowd of shoppers and sightseers. Feeling a tightness in her throat, the female quickly attempted to find the male that she was supposed to be cheering up.
How could I mess up so badly? She wondered, placing her hand over her eyes that felt like they were burning as she attempted to hold back her tears.
Y/N suddenly screamed as she felt a hand grab her arm, and she stared at a surprised Hikaru with wide eyes.
"Geez, Y/N, it's just me. Are you alright?" Hikaru questioned as he looked at her with narrowed eyes.
"Uh, yeah, I'm fine." Y/N assured as she smiled wryly at him. "I just got worried that you left me behind." She admitted to him, much to his surprise.
"I wouldn't do that." Hikaru told her. "Come on, I saw an antique shop nearby. You like those, right?" He asked her, wrapping an arm over her shoulders, as if comforting her, and leading her in a random direction.
"Of course." Y/N chuckled.
-Kouka Kingdom-4 years ago-
"Y/N, you need to be able to dodge at a quicker pace. Hak*, aim a little higher, or else you'll barely be able to leave a scratch on your opponent." Ordered the older man as he watched the duo with a serious gaze.
"Yes sir!" Y/N responded, a bit breathless, as she wiped away the sweat from her forehead.
"Don't tell me what to do, old man!" The kid about her own age shouted at his grandfather, which caused the female to roll her eyes.
A sudden beeping that came from her bag caused the female to glance at Mun-deok, who nodded, and she quickly rushed to her bag as the older man called a break. "Drew, Darcy, what's up?" Y/N questioned as she turned on her communicator and saw her twin siblings.
"Y/N, you need to come home right now." Darcy, the female, demanded. This caused Y/N to raise an eyebrow.
"I'm a little busy right now, Darce. If there's a problem, please talk to Brian about it. I'm sure that he can handle it." [D-ar-se] Y/N insisted, about to turn off the communicator, before she froze completely.
"The problem is Brian. Y/N, he's in a coma." Drew stated.
"I'm on my way."
-30 minutes later-
"Did you just hear something?" Y/N asked, pausing their walk and glancing up at the sky as she swore that she heard thunder. It seemed to be getting darker.
"No, I didn't hear anything." Hikaru denied, following the female's gaze. "It does look like it's going to rain, though. Should we be heading back?" He asked her.
Y/N nodded her head, her thoughts having immediately gone to Haruhi. She didn't want to leave the male to be alone.
"Okay, let's head to the street and flag down a cab." Hikaru instructed.
"Huh? Y/N?" Hearing the familiar voice, the duo glanced in the direction of a vegetable shop and saw Arai carrying a box. Hikaru immediately tensed up. "What are you up to?"
"Arai-kun, what are you doing?" Y/N responded, beginning to walk up to the male.
"Oh, this is my uncle's store." The brunet motioned with his head to the vegetable shop. "What are you, shopping?" He asked.
"Yeah. But we were just leaving." Y/N told him.
"Well, I'll send you back in our car. Let me go ask my uncle." Arai happily offered.
"That would be great, but we probably shouldn't." Y/N attempted to deny his offer, hesitantly glancing in Hikaru's direction.
"I heard some thunder, and it's going to start raining soon." Arai commented, looking a bit wary. Y/N knew what he was hinting at and looked suddenly ready to accept his offer.
"That's okay, we're getting a taxi." Hikaru cut in.
"Eh? But the taxi fare would be a waste of money." Arai insisted.
Y/N bit her lip as she heard a crack of thunder. "Why not? The sooner we go, the better." She smiled at Hikaru. She couldn't possibly tell him and the others about Haruhi's fear, that wouldn't be right.
"Haruhi, how about if just you were to go?" Hikaru asked.
"Just me....? Alone? Hikaru-" Y/N was immediately going to decline, before she took a step back as Hikaru shouted at her.
"Just do whatever you want to! Then you can get chummy, and talk all about the past or whatever!" He then began to run away.
"Hikaru!" Y/N shouted after him, groaning as she tugged at her hair.
"Not again. Is he really that bothered by old friends of yours? He must have had some." Arai asked the female.
"Unfortunately, I'm one of them." Y/N sighed, ignoring the way that Arai's eyes had widened in shock. "I'm sorry, Arai-kun, maybe next time? Please call Misuzu-chan and let him know we'll be late!" She smiled awkwardly at him, before she rushed in the direction that Hikaru had gone off to.
-L/N Mansion-3 years ago-
"Why isn't he in the hospital?!" Y/N demanded as she stomped inside, her eyes venomous.
"The doctor said that he'd have a better chance of surviving in a more homely environment." Drew calmly explained to his older sister, looking at her sympathetically.
It was known among everyone that the oldest L/N siblings were as close as the youngest L/N siblings, if not more so. And it seemed that their bond had only grown when their mother had died of an incurable illness almost six years before.
"Next time you guys make such a rash decision, don't do it when I'm traveling. You both are only ten." Y/N told the twins, pinching the bridge of her nose, as if she were attempting to calm down her nerves.
"Well you're only thirteen." Darcy sneered, her being the more 'hammer' of the duo while Drew was the 'mat'.
Y/N looked about ready to fight back with her younger sister, not in the mood for her sass and rudeness at the moment, before tensing up as she heard a cold voice. "Y/N, come to my office." Her father stated.
"Yes, Father." She murmured, turning away from the twins as she walked towards the head of the L/N's office. "What did you want to talk about?" She asked, sitting across from the older man.
"You need to be doing your job." (F/N) immediately got to the point.
"I am doing my job, Sir." Y/N told him, messing with her fingers as a way to keep herself calm.
"No, you're not." (F/N) shook his head and stood up. "I understand that you're worried about Brian, but you stopping in the middle of your duties is becoming hazardous for not only yourself, but everyone else in the world." He told her, before shaking his head. "What would Brian think if he saw you dishonoring your title with such silly emotions?"
Y/N frowned, as if knowing that he was right. "I'm sorry, Sir. I will make sure to put my duties before anything else, and I'll hold back my emotions." She told him.
"Very good, I'll let you stay here for the night. But you need to get back to work as soon as breakfast is over with. Understood?" (F/N) questioned, staring at his daughter coldly.
"Understood, sir." Y/N nodded her head, getting out of the chair and leaving the office.
Without thinking twice, the young female walked up the steps to the familiar room of her older brother. She smiled sadly as she saw that her mother's reading chair was already pulled to the side of his bed where he lay, and she could only think that Drew had moved it for her.
Sitting in the chair, she looked at the pale complexion of Brian's face, desperately trying not to look at the machines that kept him alive. With her lip trembling, Y/N remembered how she had rushed into the hospital in tears, and how Drew and Darcy had to tell her that Brian had gotten into a fight after hearing one of the gangs talk about how useless the time traveler was, which had only caused her to sob even more.
"You idiot, Big brother, trying to protect me even when I'm not around." Y/N laughed dryly, shaking her head as she interlocked their fingers together. "You promised me you wouldn't leave me...But even if you can't keep that promise, then live for me. Please." She whispered, before crying for the last time in the next three years.
-Misuzu Pension-
"Tamaki-kun can't settle down." Misuzu worriedly watched Tamaki pace back and forth on their wait for Y/N and Hikaru to return.
"I'm just going to go pick them up." Tamaki stated, before he paused his pacing when the phone began to ring.
"Hai, Pension Misuzu." Misuzu answered the phone, before he laughed. "Arai-kun, what is it? Eh? Y/N-chan and Hikaru-kun?" He asked, causing the others to immediately look at the older man. "Got it. Hikaru-kun should have his cell with him, so I'll try calling." He stated, before hanging up the phone and looking at the others. "It sounds like Hikaru-kun left Y/N-chan in front of Arai-kun's store, and headed back here on his own. He said that Y/N-chan took off after him, but then this rain started coming down. That's when Arai-kun became worried, and called over here." He explained to the group, causing Kyoya to narrow his eyes.
"That is certainly an issue if Y/N went after him." The dark haired male stated.
"Yeah, she could get lost." Honey agreed.
"Not only that, but I have most recently found out that Y/N is afraid of losing those she has gotten close to. If she cannot find Hikaru she is likely to have a panic attack." Kyoya told the group. "Being in an unfamiliar place will just make it worse, I'm sure."
"What?!" As if on cue, Tamaki immediately pulled out his phone to call Hikaru.
"Yes, sir? Perfect timing. Could you send a car around for me?" Hikaru answered on the other line. "I couldn't catch any cabs." He added afterwards.
"You stupid idiot! You just turn around right now and find Y/N!" Tamaki shouted into the phone. "What kind of person leaves a girl out in the rain like this by herself?! Listen to me, Y/N is afraid of being alone! She can have a serious panic attack and possibly get injured!" He exclaimed, causing Hikaru's eyes to widen. "Before you start indulging your overgrown jealousy, think harder about what the other person is going through!" Tamaki told him, before hanging up.
~Hikaru's POV~
"How was I supposed to know if she never told me?" I grumbled unhappily as I put my phone back into my pocket, then I widened my eyes as I remembered earlier's events.
As I walked through the busy streets of the outdoor mall, I suddenly paused as I caught sight of Y/N. She looked completely different than usual, a lot cuter, but something about her facial expression showed that she was nervous. Was it because she thought it was a date? Or was it because my brother hadn't shown up?
There it was again, that nervous look. It seemed to be barely on her face for a split second, her worrying about something, or someone, before it was completely covered up with her false smile. Like she was trying to hide how she was feeling.
Looking around wildly, soon after being swept into the crowd of shoppers and tourists, I realized that I had lost Y/N. Clicking my tongue, I began to search for the short time traveler. I paused in my steps immediately when I caught sight of her, she was shaking, her hands covering her eyes as if she were going to cry. Hesitantly, I placed my hand on her arm, causing her to scream. "I just got worried that you left me behind."
The way that she looked between Arai and me, as we talked about whether or not if the two of us would take a cab or Arai's uncle's car, it seemed obvious that she was ready to quiet us both down before we got into a fight. "Why not? The sooner we go, the better." She smiled at me.
"How was I supposed to know that?!" I shouted at Y/N, as if she were here, before running in the direction that I had come from.
I searched throughout the whole market, asking people and looking into stores that were still open for any sign of Y/N, until I came to a road that would lead to the longer way to the pension. As lightning flashed, I noticed the familiar design of Y/N's dress in the distance.
"Y/N!" I called out, though was easily drowned out by a crack of thunder.
My eyes then widened as I caught the sight of headlights, and Y/N stood there completely frozen, like a statue.
"Y/N!" I shouted, running towards her as quickly as I could. I grabbed her arm and quickly pulled her out of the way as the car honked it's horn at us and I clicked my tongue. "Y/N, why didn't you move? You could've gotten yourself kill-umph!" I grunted as she suddenly wrapped her arms around my neck and cried into my chest. I noticed the difference immediately, since her tears were warmer than the cold rain.
I sighed and picked her up, before carrying her to a church that wasn't too far away.
"You have to make sure to tell other people how you feel, or it won't get through to them. However, if you care for the other person, sometimes, it's important not to miss the subtle little hints that they drop." Kaoru's words ran through my mind as I looked down at Y/N, carrying her as far away from the door as I could as she shook in my arms.
"How can you tell that I'm feeling anxious about Kaoru?"
"Maybe it's a twin thing...Hmm...Then, just because."
I sighed as I sat with her on one of the pews, hoping that no one minded if we got the cushions wet as I sat down with Y/N in my lap, her completely against letting me go. Had it scared her that much?
"I'm sorry. For running off and leaving you. And for saying such mean things about your dear friend." I muttered as I held her as close as I could, hoping to share my body heat with hers so that she wouldn't get a cold. The others would kill me if she did, after all.....I would also be very angry with myself if she did. "I'm sorry."
"Thank you, Hikaru." I heard Y/N whisper, and I looked down at her as she slowly fell asleep in my grip.
"I'm sorry." I repeated once more, as tears left my eyes.
***Extra Ending***
-Pension Misuzu-Next Day-
"By the way, about your strategy for yesterday's date, did you ever consider the possibility that it might have gone too well, and fostered feelings of love?" Kyoya asked Kaoru, the two of them watching from the second floor balcony.
"It's still too soon for that. Hikaru is a dummy, and all." Kaoru stated.
"Hey! Melon-cutting! Melon-cutting!" Tamaki cheered, as Hikaru beamed beside Y/N as he held up a giant watermelon that Arai had handed to him.
Kaoru chuckled as Kyoya pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Well, we do have a lot of dummies in our club." Kyoya casually replied to Kaoru.
