10 - Jealous Much?
Evan
"Dude, did you really have to text me? You know we have a doorbell, right?" Said Caleb as he ushered me in.
I scanned the living room just to make sure CJ wasn't around. It almost felt like I just stepped in a Lion's den. "Well, you know, your sister hates my guts. She'd probably kill me if she ever knew I was here."
He snorted. "What? Did I hear that correctly? Evan is scared of my sister Clarey?" He made some clucking noises just to tease me.
"Yeah, really funny, you little twit." I said, closing the door quietly behind me.
He rolled his eyes then pointed a finger up the ceiling. "Don't worry, she's up in her room right now."
I breathe a huge sigh of relief. It was nice knowing that CJ was busy in her room, but a part of me wanted her to know that I was there. I've always wondered how she would react? This was my first time stepping inside the Johnson's residence. Back when we were younger, Evalyn and I used to play in front of our house and the other kids from the block would just join us.
That's when I met CJ.
It confused me for a bit because I didn't know the Johnson boys had a sister. She started hanging around with us but Lance and I didn't want her to. It was just weird having a girl play with us. My mom even offered CJ to play with Evalyn, but knowing my sister, she didn't want anything to do with any other girls on the block.
"Yo, von Detten, you coming or not?" Caleb whispered.
"Yeah, be down in a sec."
We proceeded down to the basement where the game room was settled. Caleb also invited a few guys from his basketball team. The only one I knew well from BonitaVerde high was Kyler since he lived across the street from us. We played pool for about an hour and a half, then I realized it was already nine o'clock. I decided to go to the kitchen to get myself a little snack.
As I walked toward the kitchen, I heard giggling noises coming from the family room. I knew it was CJ and her friends, so I stood quietly behind the saloon door to eavesdrop on their conversations.
"Oh, come on! Kiss him already!" One voice shouted angrily. I think it was Sofie's. I recognized her annoying voice well. "Elena, kiss him now, or else, I'll kiss him myself!"
"Ohh, I would love to have Damon Salvatore's babies," Trish gushed. "We would make some gorgeous babies, let me tell you that."
CJ chuckled. "Yeah, I'm sure you would."
"Why does he have to be so fucking hot?" Sofie sighed, leaning her back against the sofa. "Why can't we have gorgeous guys like him at school?"
My nose crinkled. Who the hell is Damon?
"Okay," I saw CJ bounce up from the Sofa. "Who wants more chips and salsa?" She sang.
Oh, shit.
I ran back to the kitchen, turned off the lights, and stood behind the door where she won't be able to see me. CJ beelined toward the refrigerator and grabbed a whole bottle of soda. She decided to turn the lights on as I was about to sneak out of the kitchen.
She dropped her cup the minute she saw me.
"Holy mother of—"
"No, no, no, don't scream, it's me!"
She threw her hands up in the air. "Evan? What the hell are you doing here? Did you sneak in? Because if you did, I'm calling the cops." She quickly grabbed the cordless phone from the kitchen counter close to the sink.
I shook my head in bewilderment. "Relax, Caleb invited me over, alright. We were just playing pool downstairs."
She eyed me suspiciously and placed the phone back on the cradle. Our eyes were locked together. I decided to avert my gaze, but my eyes accidentally slid down to her chest instead, out of all the places. My heart raced as I realized her nipples were showing through her pink tank top even though she had a bra on. I tore my eyes away from her chest to give respect and focused on her hair. She had her hair twirled up in a messy bun, so she looked like she just got up from bed, but she sure hell looked sexy. She was also wearing her dark blue BV high sweatpants.
I blushed as I tried to think of some lame stuff to remove that tingly sensation away from underneath my pants.
"Evan, what did I just tell you?" She said, leaning against the kitchen sink, crossing her arms.
"That if I ever go near you again, I'm fucking dead?" I say with a lopsided grin. I slowly took a few steps forward, just so I could rile her up.
She knitted her eyebrows as she backpedaled a few steps. I moved closer to her until I trapped her in one corner. She started giving me the death glare. Too bad it wasn't working.
"Leave me alone, Evan." She tried to get past me but I kept blocking her path.
"Look, I'm not leaving you alone until you hear me out."
"Get away from me, von Detten, I mean it." She brushed against me but I caught her arm and pulled her closer to me.
I was getting so fed up with this shit, I wanted to tell her the truth right there and then. She tried to squirm away from me, but I held her in my arms as tight as I could. She turned her face toward me, her eyes fierce and focused.
I gazed into her eyes. Our faces were just inches apart. "CJ, just tell me why you hate me so much?"
She took her eyes away from mine and tried squirming her way out of my grip once again.
"Are you numb?" She hissed. "Ever since the day I met you, you've made my life a living hell."
"Look, CJ, I'm sorry, alright?" I loosened up my grip on her.
She slapped my face.
Hard.
"Sorry doesn't solve everything." She said through clenched teeth. "You better leave now, Evan, or so help me god I will—"
I looked her in the eyes. "Or what, CJ?"
"Nothing. You better go." She walked out of the kitchen leaving me all alone. I leaned back against the granite countertop. Cursing under my breath, I hit the bag of chips that ended up landing on the floor.
Okay, so I was slap-worthy. Been slapped twice by CJ.
Shit. Looks like I'm back to square one.

We were at study hall the next morning. I got to sit next to CJ. I discreetly passed a note to her.
I'm sorry!
She scowled at me then scribbled down something on the paper. She slid the paper back at me.
FUCK YOU, ASSHOLE
I looked at her and placed one hand on my chest mouthing the words Ouch to her. She smirked. Even though CJ was giving me a hell of a hard time, I still enjoyed my time annoying the crap out of her.
Celia sat down beside me. I tried to focus on my book, hopefully she'll leave me alone. I looked up and caught CJ glancing at me and Celia. She cleared her throat and got up to sit at another table.
I looked over my shoulder and saw that she was now sitting beside Trevor. I rolled my eyes in frustration.
Celia leaned toward me and whispered. Her breath was warm against the side of my face.
"Celia, can you please stop?" I whispered back glancing over at CJ, who by the way, just stuck her tongue out at me.

"Evan, my mom's inviting you to lunch tomorrow." Celia twirled her golden locks with her index finger. She slipped a hand around my arm as we headed to the cafeteria.
"Uh, sorry, I can't." I said apologetically.
She frowned as soon as she heard the words. Every time she asked me something, I always came up with the lamest excuses so I wouldn't go out with her. She slowly lifted a finger and traced my chest.
"Look, Evan, you have to give me a chance here." I quickly took her hand away from my chest, her beautiful large blue eyes staring back at me.
"My neighbors are having a BBQ tomorrow and I was invited to come over. Sorry."
I knew she was disappointed. I could see it in her eyes. I opened my mouth, but closed it again. Whatever I was about to tell Celia will only hurt her more. She clutched her textbooks to her chest and immediately walked away from me.
"Shit." I whispered, brushing my fingers through my hair.
Just then, I saw CJ in front of her locker, flirting around with Trevor. They were both laughing and seemed to have a world of their own. He then lowered his head to whisper in her ear. She giggled as he kissed her on her cheek.
Oh, hell.
I rolled my eyes at the sight I just witnessed. CJ caught my eyes looking at her. She smiled devilishly and linked her arms around Trevor's before slipping away towards the cafeteria.
I don't know what to say with what I just saw. Although, I have to admit...
I was fucking jealous this time.
