Discontinuation
Due to A Prophecy of Four being remade into a new story called Arising Shadows, the remake will have severe continuity errors with this story. Because of that, Lionstar's Mistake will be hereby discontinued as a novella that never came to be.
I will, however, leave this and A Prophecy of Four up as a reminder of what could have been. The reason Redspots's Revenge will not be discontinued is because it is the next installment of the Chronicles of the Prophecies series chronologically, so it is imperative that I keep it. Whereas, A Prophecy of Four and Lionstar's Mistake no longer hold any continuity purposes. Lionstar's entire character backstory is being rewritten, and A Prophecy of Four literally is being remade.
I hope you all understand my reasoning, and I hope you all have a good year!
The original plans for this story were that Emperor would try to convince MJ to join his group while they are at the moonpool. MJ agrees, and Willow tries to join too. Willow admits her love for MJ, and MJ attempts to get Emperor to allow her in. But, Feather stops him and tells him that Willow can't join. When MJ asks why, Feather just says it is not a good idea and that he and the rest of his friends should just leave while they can. MJ doesn't listen and asks Emperor if Willow can join, and also tells Emperor what Feather said. Emperor lets Willow in. Feather mysteriously disappears, so Starsight becomes chosen as the next emperor. Eventually, MJ finds Feather as she is brutally injured, but alive. She tells MJ that Emperor had tried to kill her because MJ was so foolish not to take her hints to leave seriously. When Feather and MJ return, they find out that Echostorm, Willow, and Zizzeyelon are forced to join Emperor's group while Barley, Somflow, and Cloud are set to be executed. They are looking for MJ to make sure he doesn't leave the group.
The cats that tried to "kill" Emperor's group reveal they were actually a part of the group. However, Starsight ends up betraying Emperor upon seeing what he was going to do, and tries to save the others. MJ and Feather help her. Feather ends up dying because she was weak from her wounds, but she manages to save Cloud, Barley, and Somflow. MJ kills many of Emperor's cats by traveling shadows. That's when he learns of his powers. Starsight fights, and weakens, Emperor, but is killed. MJ manages to save Zizzeyelon and Echostorm, but Willow gets brutally murdered by Emperor right in front of him.
MJ watches in agony as Willow falls, and he kills Emperor without hesitation.
Emperor whispers to MJ as his last words to never trust anyone.
Then the epilogue would have MJ, now Lionstar, meet up with a dead Willow as he apologizes to her for what happened. Willow only tells him that she never felt resentment. She is only happy that he had found happiness.
This end of the story already would have broke the continuity of A Prophecy of Four, since he was a trusting character in it, but it would have explained why he mentioned that he wouldn't join ShadowClan or RiverClan as he had already made that same mistake once. Also, Willow didn't believe in StarClan. So, how in the world would Lionstar have communicated with her at the end in an area roamed by StarClan? Likely because she had died on StarClan soil, so she was able to ascend to StarClan instead. However, it would have been strange since she didn't appear when he was being named leader of ThunderClan.
It would have been better if this was discontinued anyway as it would have already caused continuity issues with A Prophecy of Four onwards. Arising Shadows just solidified the idea of discontinuing it.
