Saturday

So tonight was the big night. Brandon was ready to present his marvellous photos to the class. He could barely even sleep last night due to his uncontrollable excitement. Brandon was lying there in his bed, trying to picture all the positive reactions his fellow classmates would give. He could see their smiles—envision their eyes widening from the breathtaking shots he had taken on the bridge.

On a side note, Brandon had left his camera back home for class later today. At some point or another, Brandon would always take time to himself in the environment he wished to capture without his equipment. It was his method of getting deeper into his photos; his way of truly being in the moment with himself. Almost like an actor getting into his or her character.

So Brandon stood back on the west span of the bridge. He got there early today, just after lunchtime.

Though compared to the last couple of astonishing days the eighteen-year-old had spent up there, this one didn't quite live up to the hype. Yes, it was still very nice. The sun sparkled down upon the navy ocean again, the cars were still passing by, and the intrigued tourists gathered around the famous Prospect Point Lookout. But overall, there just wasn't that intense flare today. It was strange. Brandon couldn't exactly pinpoint what was missing, but he wasn't going to dwell on it either.

A flock of pearly seagulls soared above his head, dodging past the strong bridge cables. There were about a dozen of them, as they squawked loudly together in unison, their wings flapping up and down in sync.

Brandon placed his hands inside the pockets of his shorts, glancing left and right down the bridge walkway. He hadn't noticed many individuals up there today. Where is everyone? he thought to himself. The bridge had a different kind of vibe to it when Brandon was alone. Again, he didn't know how to describe it. Things just felt...different.

In fact, it was almost as if Brandon was hoping to catch someone making their way by. As if he needed a reason for them to stop and give him the love he had experienced up there the past two days. Brandon kept searching, twisting and turning in all directions, trying to find that one special person. But in the end, it was clear that no one else was coming.

And that's when Brandon felt that familiar breeze brush over his face—that same breeze that had been comforting him the last few days. It was stronger this time, and had more of a...chill. Though it was still so welcoming, as if it were pulling Brandon towards it like a magnet.

But it didn't take long for the teenager to realize, that he had just made the single biggest mistake of his entire fucking life.

Oh...my...God, Brandon horrifyingly thought to himself.

What on earth have I just done?
