Twenty-Seven || Consciousness Among Us

Media: Reiji Mizuchi

thought it was a joke when Eagle had said I had a rock flying towards my face, but when I flickered back into reality, it seemed I was right. Only cracks had appeared in the ceiling.

Shit...!

My legs refused to move, as if they were rooted into the earth, merged into a ground and preventing me from moving around.

From across me, Reiji swayed side to side, not a inch of emotion located on his face as the ceiling far above us started to crumble. The air was cold- not just the temperature, but with the feeling of hate and despair radiating off the Serpent user.

Eagle wobbled in the middle of the stadium, attempting to keep his balance, but it was hard fighting the relentless Serpent off. The beyblade stole in from time to time, taking use of the gaps and collided with my bey.

"Eagle!"

My voice was raspy, and it took more strength then I thought needed to lift my hand and open it for my beyblade to fly in.

Instantly, he circled around and jumped into my extended palm, a warm pocket clenched in my hands.

"You okay?" I murmured to him.

Eagle gave a cold throb in reply.

CRACK!

I glanced up sharply, my eyes finding the large chunk of rock that had broke away from the ceiling and slicing sharply through the air, the angle causing the end point... to be me.

It was then that the glue that held my legs to the earth gave away, and I stumbled away from the spot before the stadium.

Glancing behind me, I saw Reiji still standing there, not even bothering to acknowledge the now-falling rocks that clattered to the ground beside him, unflinching as they hit the ground.

A burst of pain bubbled up in my hand, and I hissed, curling my fingers deeper into a fist that covered Eagle. "What's w-wrong...?!"

Another sharp sting, and I looked up, trying my hardest to ignore the burning feeling within the hand that clenched Eagle.

"Holy shit!"

The rock came down faster then I expected, and I found the ground even faster before my vision spiraled.

OoO

The building was crumbling.

That's what Kyoya Tategami realized as he was hounded and directed around the Dark Nebula building by the two twins.

"Tsubasa, Doji said to give this creature to you," the red-clothed twin prodded him sharply in the back, and Kyoya glared over his shoulder, then settled his eyes on the silver-haired male in front of him.

Tsubasa cocked his head to the side, analyzing Kyoya with attentive golden eyes. In response, the Leone blader scowled fiercely, staring back with a harsh gaze.

"Very well. Did he instruct where to put him."

"In the jail cell, lowest floor. You know, the one used to traitors," the blue-clothed one said, nodding with arms crossed over his chest. "Come on, Dan, let's go."

Dan looked over Kyoya once again. "You run away or something like that, Kyoya, I will track you down."

With that, he left with his twin.

"Now what are you going to do?" Kyoya spat at Tsubasa.  "Put me in that damn jail cell?"

He didn't reply, instead skimming the room, then stepped towards me, untying the rope that had been bound around the Leone blader's wrists.

"I know you're here with Tess, and if I allowed her to be captured, my partner would be... very... angry at me. So, just go."

Kyoya took a step away from him, turning around to face the Eagle blader, searching for any sign of betrayal in his face, but found none.

"What the hell are you up too?!"

"Nothing, Kyoya Tategami," Tsubasa said with eerie calmness. "Just go."

The last two words were firm, and Kyoya scowled again, before turning his back and bolting out of the place. When he entered the hallway, the cracks in the walls were definitely worse, as well as there were some cracks that appeared in the floor.

Tess went downstairs forcibly by going down in that tube... so she has to be under.

Whipping out his launcher and beyblade, Kyoya aimed at the ground and silently counted to himself.

"Let it rip!"

At the impact Leone had on the floor, it shuddered and broke beneath him.

Falling for more then a few seconds at a time was not pleasant for him.

When his feet finally met the floor (with a sickening pop!), Kyoya staggered in attempt to get up, looking around the vast area, then located the stadium ahead.

On one side, a scrawny teenager dressed in pale blue clothes paid no attention to the chaos around him.

On the other side, Tess lay crumbled against the ground, a rock next to her head and her eyes rolled back.

"The moron...!" Kyoya hissed under his breath, picking his way around two rather big rocks and clambering on over, avoiding the small bits of rocks that fell from the ceiling.

"What the hell did you do this time?"

When he was finally standing beside her, Kyoya rolled his eyes, and spared a glance at the strange male standing on the other side of the room.

"Tch, it's useless to have a dead body on my hands... besides, J.C.I solves mysteries and murders, they don't create more," he muttered.

Nonetheless, the Leone blader hooked his arm around the girl, managing to stand up with an arm around her shoulders, and began walking out. It was hard, of course, with the girl being just a bit shorter then him, but her feet dragged.

"What idiocy did you commit this time?" He mumbled in her ear, but Tess gave no indication of responding as they made their way out the door. "Remind me why I'm dragging you this for again? I should just leave your body here..."

But, yet, he still moved, navigating throughout the maze of hallways, rocks scraping the flesh below their knees and making thin, bloody lines on their faces, until he reached the door.

"Wake up already, you idiot!"

Kyoya felt sick when fresh air hit him, as if the chemicals in the building from the bey lab had taken their toll on him.

"Someone call the ambulance or hospital!" Someone yelled from off to their right. "Oh, god, they're both bleeding!"

It seemed like hours before medics scrambled to take Tess from his grasp, then escorted Kyoya into the hospital too. Granted, the Eagle blader was more of their troubles now, but still

"Sir, do you know that lady?" One of the medics asked him.

Kyoya nodded once, then hissed as the medic applied some ointment to his face, a sting traveling lazily over his nerves.

"Family member? Relative? Friend? Boyfriend?" He suggested.

"I'm not her boyfriend," Kyoya scowled, huffing.

"Sorry," he said meekly. "Just assumed, which I really shouldn't do. Can you wait here for a little while? Once we confirm she not in fatal condition, we will ask you some questions."

"...whatever."
