{!!!} BONUS CHAPTER III {!!!}

Do to popular request, this bonus chapter will be Chapter 25 in Annabeth's POV!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I laid on my bed, smiling happily. My ear buds were nestled in my ears, and one of my favorite songs was playing. Percy and I were going to the Spring Fling together, less than a few hours away. Everything was going great.

When The Good, The Bad, and The Dirty by Panic! At The Disco finished playing, I turned my music off and sat up. I climbed out of my clothes - Percy's clothes, actually - and slid my dress onto my body.

I couldn't believe how good the dress looked on me, and that my oblivious best friend had been the one to choose it. I straightened the front of the dress out and zipped the back up, but I couldn't manage to tie the pretty bow in the back.

I sighed. "Helen," I called.

"Yes, Annabeth?"

"I need help!"

I heard her footsteps coming closer, then a tap on the door. I opened it for her.

She gaped. "This dress is beautiful, dear."

I smiled. "Thank you. Could you help with the tie? I can't reach."

She nodded, so I turned and held my long hair out of the way. Her nimble fingers worked quickly, and she did the bow up.

"There you are. Do you need any other help?"

I hesitated. "I should probably do something with my mane, huh?"

Helen laughed, motioning for me to sit at my desk. "I'll help you, no worries."

She set to work, firstly brushing my wild blonde curls. Then she separated the front pieces from the rest and pinned them up in the center of the back of my head. She artfully pulled a few baby hairs to frame my face and smoothed everything down.

"There," Helen said, smiling. "Would you like me to do your makeup?"

I recoiled. "Um..."

She laughed. "Nothing drastic, I promise. I just want to add a few things to accentuate your features."

I reluctantly nodded. Helen rushed to grab her makeup kit from the bathroom. She set to work, moisturizing my face first, then adding mascara to my lashes, a bit of concealer underneath my eyes, and sheer lip gloss to my lips. She handed me a mirror and I admired her handy work.

"I like it," I admitted. "It's simple. Thank you very much."

Helen nodded, smiling happily. "It was fun, to be honest."

She scurried out of my room and I went to lay down on my bed. Percy would be there any minute.

I heard a knock on the door, so I jumped up and grabbed everything I needed. I had my phone, my keys, shoot. I forgot to put on my shoes.

I ran to my closet and pulled out the box containing my black gladiator sandals. Once again, I couldn't believe Percy had spotted them. They went well with my dress, weren't too casual or too fancy, and were comfortable. I buckled them up, grabbed my things, and raced to the kitchen.

Percy was standing in the doorway, talking to Malcolm, and looking fantastic. He was wearing a pair of khaki joggers and a fitted, black long sleeve top that hugged his arms and chest. His green tie was a nice touch, the only pop of color besides his tanned skin and bright eyes. In his hands he was grasping a bouquet of purple flowers. Lilacs, I thought. My favorite.

I grinned at him, happy that he was all mine for the night.

"You look beautiful, Wise Girl," Percy told me, his cheeks burning a little red.

"Thanks, Seaweed Brain. You too," I replied, not thinking about anything except for the fact that Percy thought I looked as good as I thought he did.

He laughed, and I blushed, realizing what I had said. "You know what I meant. You look good."

He smiled his crooked smile that I adored. "Thank you. These are for you."

Percy passed me the bouquet of lilacs, and my heart sped up a little bit.

"Malcolm, could you take a couple photos?" I asked, wanting to have a few with the flowers. I never wanted to forget the kind gesture.

He nodded. I handed him my phone and crept closer to Percy, holding the flowers against my chest with my right hand. Percy lightly hung his right arm against my waist. I pushed his hand onto my hip more firmly, laughing a little bit.

"I'm not going to break, Seaweed Brain."

He looked down at me with a sheepish expression on his face, and I smirked, wondering if he was nervous. I didn't want him to be uncomfortable, but if he was it most likely meant he wanted things to go well, which was sweet.

The flash of my phone went off, meaning the Malcolm took a picture. I looked at him curiously, as did Percy, and Malcolm shrugged.

"What? It was a good candid," he explained, smiling.

I rolled my eyes. "Alright, let us prepare for this one, at least."

I held the bouquet tighter to my chest and hugged Percy with my left arm. He did the same to me with his right arm, and his other one hung limply by his side. We grinned at the camera, and Malcolm took a few photos.

"Can we take a silly picture?" Percy asked.

I laughed, sticking my tongue out in response. I turned to the camera, tongue out, eyes crossed. Percy did a duck face and flashed a peace sign with his left hand. Malcolm chuckled, clicking the button.

"Okay, let's do one more pose."

I hesitated, before removing my arm from Percy's waist and holding the flowers behind my back. I rose to my tip toes and pressed my lips against my best friend's cheek.

Click.

I leaned back and chuckled at Percy's dumbfounded expression.

"Thank you, Malcolm," I said, reaching for my phone.

I put my flowers in a vase filled with water and set them on the counter. Then, Percy and I took off for more pictures with the rest of the crew.

At the park, Grover had a professional camera ready. We took a cute picture with all four of the girls - Juniper, Rachel, Calypso, and I - and the boys took a goofy photo together. We also had a photo with Grover, Juniper, Percy and I.

As Grover ran over to check if Rachel had done a good job, Percy pouted. "My cheeks hurt," he cried.

"Oh, stop complaining, Percy," I said, reaching up and pinching his cheeks. Percy scrunched up his nose and cupped my jaw with both of his warm hands. I smiled amusedly.

Suddenly I recognized the sound of a photo being taken.

"Grover!" Percy exclaimed.

"What?" he asked simply, moving the camera from his face. "You two looked cute."

Percy rolled his eyes, fed up. "Is that enough?"

I nodded, remembering how much he despised getting his picture taken. We all decided we had plenty, all though Rachel was reluctant to let an opportunity to irritate Percy pass. I had always found their relationship odd, but entertaining.

We all started the short walk to the high school. Percy and I lead the small caravan, and Juniper and Grover closed off the end. Everyone chatted about random things, mostly making small talk, but Percy and I walked in silence. We didn't feel the need to fill it with pointless conversation.

At the back entrance of the gym, Percy paid for our tickets, not allowing any argument from me.

"I have to do it this time," he told me. "It's the nice thing to do."

I smirked. "And they say chivalry is dead."

Percy laughed, but he couldn't disagree. He had been so kind and had done the basic romantic things, but I didn't mind.

Rachel steered Calypso off to the DJ stand, mumbling something about her art club friends. Grover and Juniper darted straight to the dance floor, relating to us that "their" song was playing. It was just Percy and I, chilling by the snack table.

I grabbed a handful of potato chips and tossed them back into my mouth.

Percy laughed. "You can put the girl in a dress, but you can't make her act like a lady."

I scoffed. "Like you know anything about being a lady."

He put his hands on his hips. "Of course I do," he replied incredulously with a British accent.

I let out a small laugh.

"Fancy seeing you here," a particularly high, familiar voice said.

Percy glanced over his shoulder and turned, revealing Drew, the girl who had assisted in choosing the fabulous dress I was sporting.

"Hey," he greeted. "You look nice."

She did, I supposed, although I didn't appreciate Percy taking in her attire that wasn't entirely appropriate for a tenth grade dance. She was wearing a bright red sleeveless dress with a sweetheart neckline, and had cherry red lipstick to match.

Drew smoothed her dress out. "You guys look great together."

I smiled, realizing I was probably judging her too harshly. I barely even knew her, I shouldn't stereotype her based on her dress, especially since she was so nice and helpful a week before.

All of a sudden, Silena laid her hand on Drew's bare shoulder. "Hey, sister," Silena greeted with a bright smile.

The girls hugged, and then Drew excused herself to go hang out with her friends.

Beckendorf took his place behind his girlfriend, planting his large hands on her waist.

"Hi, guys," Percy said.

Silena grinned. "Don't they look great together, Charlie?" she asked, looking up at him for confirmation.

He blushed. "Yeah," he mumbled.

"We just wanted to say hi, but we'll leave you two be. Have fun!" Silena exclaimed, taking her boyfriend's hand and rushing off to who knows where.

We waved before facing each other again. A different song switched onto the speakers, a familiar Panic! At The Disco one, and Percy's green eyes lit up.

"Do you want to dance?" he asked.

"Why not?" I grinned, grabbing his hand and heading to the dance floor.

We danced playfully to the energetic beat of High Hopes until it ended. The DJ lowered the volume and announced, "Here's a slow song for you guys. Grab your significant other, or your crush, or even that random person who sits beside you in math, and dance away!"

White noise emitted from the speakers, and then the beginning of Empty Space by James Arthur started playing.

Percy glanced down at me nervously. "You want to stay, or do you want to grab something to eat?"

I smiled, realizing he was probably stepping out of his comfort zone to ask me to dance to a slow song with him. "Might as well stay. This song isn't half bad."

He hesitantly placed his hands on my waist, and I entangled mine around his neck. I laid my head against Percy's chest as we swayed, listening to the steady thump thump of his heart.

"Don't look now, but Grover's about to make a move," he snickered into my ear.

I whirled around and caught a glimpse of Grover taking Juniper's hand and kissing it. Percy quietly chuckled, and I backed away from him.

I frowned. "Don't make fun of him! He's nervous," I said, thinking that at least Grover had the guts to try and get what he wanted.

Percy took my hands and put them back around his neck, smiling. "I know," he said quietly. "I'm glad for him."

I realized that Percy probably knew that other people were more likely to do whatever to achieve their wishes. He most likely already felt bad about his trait, and didn't need me to remind him of it.

We continued to dance even after the song switched to a more upbeat one again. Percy grabbed my right hand with his left and we moved into a faster dance. He twirled me around, making me yelp from surprise. He laughed, and I grinned up at him.

Percy supported my back and dipped me low as the tempo of the song slowed, signifying the end. He quickly pulled me back up and spun me around when the next song started. We got in the way of several couples, but we didn't mind. Hopefully they didn't either, because we didn't stop for a long time.

Eventually, my thirst got the best of me. I led Percy to the snack table and passed him a water. We talked about the decorations, and how they were a step up from what they usually were. We also joked about a few particular outfits of our peers, seeing as they were insanely over the top for a tenth grade dance.

After a while, we met back up with the rest of our group near the exit.

"You guys done?" Percy asked, his grin still present from our exciting time on the dance floor.

"Yeah, I'm getting a headache," Rachel told us. "Let's get out of here, the afterparty is overdue."
