I thought that waking up to fresh chocolate chip pancakes was the dream, but after waking up with Annabeth in my arms, I'm not so sure. Adding that with the warm breakfast and there's no competition.

I smiled as I nestled my face into Annabeth's hair. I could get used to this, I decided. She was spread across my body, arms wrapped around my waist. I lazily draped my arms over her back, fiddling with the ends of her ponytail.

A few minutes later, Annabeth rustled around. "Good morning," I said quietly,

She smiled at me, eyes drooping from exhaustion. "Morning, Seaweed Brain." She tried to sit up, but I tugged her closer to me. "Perce," she argued halfheartedly.

I grinned and squeezed her tightly. "Yes?" I asked playfully.

"What are you doing?"

"Hugging my girlfriend."

She rolled her eyes and pulled away from me. "I see that. The question is why you are so adamant about hugging said girlfriend."

I shrugged. "I like cuddling," I admitted sheepishly, "and I like you."

Annabeth smiled and brushed her lips against mine. "I like you too, Percy. Let's get up though, okay?"

I groaned. "Fine."

We got up and added some layers. Annabeth threw my hoodie over her head again and I tossed on a plain tee shirt. Then we walked down the hall holding hands.

"Hey there, cuties," Mom greeted teasingly. "How'd you two sleep?"

I rolled my eyes. "Great, Mom. Are those pancakes I see?"

She laughed. "Yes, they are. Have a seat, kiddos."

Annabeth and I sat at the table, side by side. "I haven't had your mom's pancakes in a while," she told me.

I dramatically gasped. "Oh, you're in for a treat."

She laughed. Mom came over and set down two plates with towering stacks of blue chocolate chip pancakes.

We both dug in. I laughed as a dribble of maple syrup made its way down Annabeth's face. I swiped my finger over it, making her blush.

That was one of the best mornings I had had in a long time, and boy did I enjoy it.

Sunday, 8-26-18

"Please, I know that you two love each other or whatever, but I'm trying to enjoy my ice cream. Could you keep the PDA to a minimum?"

I held back a blush at our fiery friend's comments. "You're just jealous, Rachel," I retorted.

She scoffed. "Of Annabeth?" she teased. "Please, I can't stand you, Fish Breath."

I gasped. "I do not have fish breath," I defended. "Ask Annabeth!"

Annabeth held up her hands. "Leave me out of this, Seaweed Brain."

I laughed.

Rachel, Grover, Juniper, Caly, Annabeth, and I were all spending the day at the park. We only had a few more days until school started again, so we were trying to make the most of it.

Speaking of, Annabeth and I had been officially dating for over a week. Each day of it had been even more precious than the last. We would cram as much time as we possibly could into seeing each other. Some days we would sleep at my place, and sometimes hers, but we had only been apart once during the night. So far, we were inseparable and I loved it.

I bit into the cone of my ice cream. "We only have two more days of vacation, you guys," I stated. "We should do something tomorrow and Tuesday."

Grover nodded. "We totally should."

Juniper frowned. "We're busy, remember Grove? We have that beach clean up from ten till three tomorrow, then the charity until six. And Tuesday we have that fancy dinner with my relatives all day."

"Oh, I totally wasn't thinking. Yeah, we're going to be booked."

"You guys should totally do something though," Juniper told us.

Rachel bit her lip. "Tomorrow I'm busy, but I can do something Tuesday."

Calypso shrugged. "I'm free both days."

I smiled. "Okay, me, you, and Annabeth can go do something together tomorrow, and then on Tuesday we can do another thing all together."

Annabeth pursed her lips. "Alright.

Caly grinned. "I can't wait."

"Alright." Pause. "Uh huh." Pause. "I promise." Another pause. "Yeah, I know. I love you, too, Dad."

Annabeth peeled the phone from her cheek and ended the call. "I can stay over," she told me, grinning.

I smiled back. "Good. Then we can head to the beach with Caly together tomorrow."

She grimaced, making me frown. "What?" I asked.

Annabeth hesitated. "Don't you think it is going to be awkward?" she asked after a moment.

I shook my head. "No. Why would it? Caly is our friend."

She bit her lip, and I fought to keep my eyes locked on her own grey ones. "I'm just not sure I'm comfortable with spending a day at the beach with someone who likes my boyfriend."

"What are you talking about, Annabeth?"

She rolled her eyes. "You really are oblivious. You're trying to tell me that you didn't know that Calypso likes you?"

I was speechless. "No, I knew that when we first met she was attracted to me. But she must be over that at this point. It's been months."

Annabeth shook her head. "From my female intuition, Calypso's into you."

"I don't know what you want me to say, Wise Girl. I don't like her back, I like you. But Caly is my friend and I would like to spend time with her before the start of the school year. Is that okay with you?"

She blew out an angry puff of air. I worried for a minute that I had overstepped the boundaries and offended her somehow.

"I hope I haven't upset you," I quickly said aloud. "I just want to hang out with my friend."

Annabeth shook her head and smiled understandingly. "No, it's fine. I'm sure that I'm overreacting."

I grinned and rolled over on my bed so that I was leaning over her. "Good, because I don't like it when you're angry." I smirked.

She giggled. "And that's the proper way to feel about the matter," she teased.

I chuckled, leaning down to kiss her. "Am I improving as a boyfriend?"

Annabeth caressed my cheek. "Very much."

Monday, 8-27-18

"Annabeth!" I shouted. I tugged her small frame closer to me and nestled my face in her neck.

She groaned. "Yes, Percy?"

"Do you know what today is?"

"Monday," she grumbled, rolling out of my tight embrace.

"No, silly, it's beach day!" I exclaimed, sitting up.

She sighed. "I'm not getting any more sleep, am I?"

I shook my head, grinning. "Nope. Because it's beach day!"

Annabeth sat up too, laughing. "I can tell that you are excited,"

"Let's go get breakfast, and then we can get ready, and then we can meet Caly, and then we can go the beach!"

"Why are you so excited?" she asked curiously. "It's like eight in the morning. This is so out of your character."

I smiled. "Everything good happens at the beach. Plus, I just woke up to the face of my favorite person in the world." I wrapped my arms around her waist, not wanting to stand yet.

Annabeth blushed. "I'm your favorite person in the world?"

I grinned. "No, I checked SnapChat and it was on front facing camera."

She gasped and pushed me away. "That's it! No more kisses from me ever again!"

I mocked her gasp. "Ever again?!"

Annabeth nodded childishly. "Yep."

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," I repeated, kissing her all over her face. Her cheeks, her nose, her chin, her forehead, and finally on her plump pink lips.

"You're forgiven, for now," she told me.

I smiled. "Why don't we go grab something to eat?"

"The only reason I'm still in bed is because of you, Seaweed Brain."

"Are you insinuating that this is my fault?"

"I would never."
