{34} I'M AS GIVING AS ONE OF THOSE TALK SHOW HOSTS {34}

I'm not sure if it's been published by the time you're reading this, but please go check out my one shot that will be posted in crazedauthors1093 's book called Percabeth One-Shot Community Collection! Also, if you enjoy writing Percabeth, why not submit one of your own? It's an amazing opportunity, and Crazed is wonderful to work with!

Back to the story :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The dining pavilion was filled with campers, shocking me. Sure, during the tour I had spotted a few other people, but when everybody was cramped together on the pavilion there seemed to be so many more people.

Travis tapped my shoulder and pointed to a smaller table, apart from the other ones. "That's where Chiron and Mr. D sit, as well as the other supervisors. When they come over, just head over and ask Chiron if you've been assigned yet."

I nodded. "Alright. Where should I go for now?"

"Just come with me to Hermes. He is the god of travelers."

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever you say, Travis."

"I like the way you think."

We headed over to table eleven, which was by far the most cramped. I guessed that more people fit under that category because it was so broad. The most crowded tables were Hermes, Ares, Athena, Hephaestus, and Aphrodite. Apollo and Artemis had a few campers, as did Demeter. Dionysus had two boys, and the Zeus and Poseidon tables only had one camper each, which seemed pretty sad. Hera had no campers at her table.

"Guys, this is Percy Jackson," Travis announced. "He goes to Goode, like most of us, and is our brand new swim captain."

I smiled bashfully.

"I wonder if he's a Poseidon, then," some kid wondered out loud.

I shrugged. "He's the ocean god, right? That wouldn't be awful, I guess."

"We'll see."

Chiron trotted into the madness, as well as a slightly pudgy older man and a scrawny tall guy who looked as if he'd seen it all. I headed over quickly, wanting to get away from the concerning Hermes kids.

"Percy," Chiron stated kindly. "We've sorted you all out. Have any guesses?"

I bit my lip. "Well, someone over at Hermes guessed I'm a Poseidon kid, but I'm not sure."

"They'd be correct. You will be rooming with Tyson Solorb. He's very kind, don't let his looks fool you."

I glanced at the Poseidon table. There was a guy, about my age, with scraggly chestnut hair that covered his forehead, brown eyes, and thin lips. He was wearing a large red and black flannel and huge jeans, giving me a lumberjack vibe.

"That's him?" I asked, gesturing with my head.

"Yes. Like I said, he's quite nice, although he does act very...young for his age. But Tyson is very smart, and great with crafting. I'm sure you'll get along great."

I nodded, rubbing my hand across my face. "I left my luggage in the Big House. Should I move it to my cabin after lunch?"

"No, one of the Senior Campers will take care of it. You need to get your schedule sorted out. But we'll deal with that later. Go have a seat."

I wandered over to the Poseidon table and warily sat across from Tyson. "Hey there. I'm Percy."

I stuck out my hand and he eyed it with curiosity. He eventually grasped it with his own large hand. "My name is Tyson."

I smiled. "Nice to meet you, Tyson. Looks like I'm your new cabin mate."

His eyes widened. "Really?"

"Yep. You won't be so lonely by yourself anymore."

"Yay!"

I chuckled. "I know, I can't wait."

Chiron banged his fist on the table, and the campers instantly fell quiet. "Hello, everyone! The lunch today seems excellent - turkey, mashed potatoes, cooked carrots, cranberry sauce, and the salad bar as per usual - but first, we have an announcement. In case you haven't heard or noticed, we have a brand new camper! Percy Jackson, age 15, Poseidon camper. He will join activities with all of the other campers with two or less in their cabin, so be prepared. That's all. Let's eat!"

The chatter in the pavilion picked up again. The kid at Zeus' table, some tall boy with really short blonde hair and insanely blue eyes, stood up and headed over to the set up where all of the food was. I glanced at Tyson questionably.

"We go in order of cabins. Technically, we're third, but no one is a Hera kid, so we're next."

I nodded. "Right. Thanks."

Tyson smiled. "Of course, friend!"

I laughed a little bit. Tyson was kind and a little childish, just like Chiron said, but he was also pretty amusing.

The Zeus kid - I would have to start learning names soon - sat back down, so Tyson and I stood up. We marched over to the buffet and loaded up our plates. It seemed like the standard Thanksgiving meal that they would serve you at school, but it looked almost gourmet. The turkey didn't even look dry, and I could smell the sweetness of the cranberry sauce and the spices in the carrots.

I filled a cup up with some Coke, and then followed Tyson. He led me to a small fire pit near the entrance to the kitchen, and tossed a few carrots in.

"What are you doing?" I asked slowly.

"It's a tradition to show thanks. You don't have to, I guess, if it makes you uncomfortable or goes against your...what's the word? Religion?"

I nodded. "Yeah, that's it. What do I do?"

"Just toss a little bit of food in."

I did as he said, then we went back to our table. The Demeter kids all stood up, including Katie, and headed over to get their meals. Tyson dug into his food, so I did too.

"Wow," I said. "This is fantastic."

Tyson nodded. "Yum."

I smiled, continuing to eat my food. "So, who do you do activities with?"

"Well, I do them with Jason," he said, pointing at the kid sitting by his self at the Zeus table, "and sometimes Castor and Pollux join." He gestured to the Dionysus boys.

"They came too?"

Tyson furrowed his bushy eyebrows. "Huh?"

"Those two boys go to my school," I explained. "A lot of people here go to my school, but some don't. Like you. Where do you go to school, Tyson?"

His expression turned sad, making me nervous. "I don't go to school."

"Oh."

I really wanted to ask why, or if something had happened to him, but I didn't want to overstep my boundaries. Either way, Tyson shared freely.

"I am an orphan, and nobody would adopt me. Since I was getting so old, the adoption place kicked me out. So I live on the streets. No home, no family, no school." He looked up and stared at me, happiness flickering in his big brown eyes. "Mr. Chiron met me once and offered me to come spend the summer here. It has been the highlight of my life!"

I smiled, but it felt really wrong to me that some three month summer camp was the highlight of this poor boy's life. "Guess what, Tyson?"

"I don't know, what?"

"Since we're both Poseidon campers, we're basically brothers. I'm your family now, and you're mine."

"Really?" I nodded. "Yay!"

His overjoyed expression was the highlight of my summer.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First of all, yes, some tears came to my eyes writing this. I love sibling love and affection, alright?! Secondly, did you catch those little Easter eggs around Tyson?? "he eyed it with curiosity." Muhahaha, I love a good pun haha. Also, for Tyson's last name...Sol like 'sole' aka one, and orb aka eye??? I'm not really sure either hahaha!

If you enjoyed, please leave a vote! Sorry this chapter was a little short, especially compared to the last one, but I really wanted to give y'all something! Be sure to check out my one shot on crazedauthors1093 's one shot book as soon as it comes out!

See you soon!
