The Man at the Door
He asks if I have a boyfriend. The words flow off soft and slow. I say no and joke that if he was afraid someone's gonna come to beat him up for staying at my house-sleeping on my couch. He then asks if I'm seeing anyone. This is his invitation to make a move. My mind splits into the two paths, one where I say yes and one where I say no. I tell the truth, I am not. He asks why and my mind spins on you. Cause for the past year and a half I've been in love with you-someone who's never wanted much to do with me. It would be so easy to say I am in love with someone who's never held the same interest but this may seal shut a path I am curious on taking. It's been a while since someone has pressed their lips against mine. So long- I have been counting the months. I say dating online is hard. And with that answer, I let the only man waiting at my door in. I let him love me in ways I deserve.
