Personality:
Despite been seen as a very dense and clueless person who would trust about anyone, Kai is secretly bright underneath and judges characteristics of others to determine how he can twist their ways of thinking into something different. However, he prefers to not pay attention or listen terribly often thus making his dense personality his main characteristic and also causing others to believe he is just completely dumb. Kai is really laid-back and friendly so he doesn't like to be involved in violence unless it is completely necessary to. He is known to give off a warm feeling when he speaks to people and either it can get others to love him for his friendly atmosphere or completely hate him because he lacks the reaction of someone hateful. The amount of hate he gets for just being himself makes him very concerned and wonder if he did anything wrong. Because of how playful and energetic he can get, Kai is very popular among children and is also seen as one by several adults. It is known that he would rather be one again than taking responsibility for what he has to as royalty in the royal family. Even with that way of thinking, he still dedicates himself to perform his task even if he doesn't give it his full efforts. Kai tends to give himself as many breaks as he possibly can to get away from it all, but he can't due to his siblings always looking out for him and making sure he isn't lazing around from his work. His aloof behavior really rubs many people the wrong way because he doesn't seem to take anything seriously when he really does at the times he needs to most. Rather than studying in broad daylight, he does so before he sleeps and very early in the morning that way he still gets his work done on time. The young man seems to also suffer insomnia thus using his supposed sleep time for extra studies and napping around in the afternoon. His studies helps him tremendously in making strategic moves on the battlefield, but just standing on the field is enough to make him cloud in grief due to the night he was nearly killed and his twin was kidnapped. Though Kai is naturally bright as demonstrated in his training sessions, his grief and anguish clouds over his mind thus causing him to close up everything and not pay attention to many things which causes his downfall. Many people can manipulate him in this state of mind because he isn't thinking as carefully and clearly as he usually would when he is in heat. In fact, there are many small details he never payed attention to in the family up to this day such as Takumi's growing hate towards Nohr. He acknowledges the problem but tends to unintentionally let it grow larger because of how unfocused he is. Even so, his unconscious cunning side of his mind tends to kick in once he feels as if he or his family are in danger or if danger is nearby thus being able to protect himself and everyone else around him. It is known that he twists the minds of his enemies in hopes of getting them to stop what they are doing or at least distract and play mind games with them safely before he gets detected.

Appearance:
Pale minty green hair, cranberry eyes, and fair skin

Kai has messy hair that, rather than stick upwards, sticks down and outwards to the side of his head and around the nape of his neck. The sides of his fringes sweep towards their respective sides while the center lock sweeps more towards the left, slightly grazing the lashes of his round sharp eyes.

He is seen in the standard uniform of a Nohr Prince where he wears a black shirt with a tall sharp collar that folds downwards to show the grey underside. His sleeves hug his arms comfortably like a glove-- the sleeves are technically his gloves in general. His shirt is tucked into his black pants and, unlike his shirt, his pant legs exclude the sole of his feet. To protect his body, he wears grey armor to cover his upper body, arms, and legs-- half a kilt is seen secured on the left side of him-- he remains barefoot. His armor resembles a dragon's scale such as his dragon form.

Biography:
Born in the Hoshido Royal family as a set of twins, Kai and Loire are the twin son and daughter of Mikoto and Sumeragi yet Kai was raised in Hoshido without his sister after she was kidnapped and taken to Nohr. The King and Queen had decided to name their older female twin, Nagisa, and their younger male twin, Kai. Hearing the news of the Hoshidan new royals, Garon called for a parley between Nohr and Hoshido-- despite their conflict-- with Sumeragi and was also requested to bring the set of twins along with him. The lying Nohrian King ended up attacking the Hoshidans without warning at their "conference" and as a result, Sumeragi was killed protecting both Nagisa and Kai from the threats falling before them. Believing that Kai was unfortunately killed in the raid, the daughter was taken away by Garon as his new child to raise in Nohr. In actuality, Kai managed to live within the chaos, a soldier shielding the infant with his body and playing dead. Getting up from the ground after all traces of the Nohrians were gone, the young injured man shakily jumped into action and covered Kai up to keep him safe and warm as he looked around for the other survivors. Finding the lucky few, the soldiers all quickly returned to Castle Shirasagi where Mikoto anxiously awaits with the news of the attack, Nagisa's kidnap, Sumeragi's death, and their lucky young prince spared from the destruction. Devastated about the unfortunate climax, but relieved to have at least her dear son back, Mikoto briefly grieved for their loss as she took care of Kai who had no understanding of his surroundings.

After Nagisa's kidnap, the Hoshidans retaliated back from Nohr's dirty tricks and kidnapped a Princess of Nohr, Azura, in return. Ever since the day of both attacks, Queen Mikoto quickly thought best to put up a protective barrier around Hoshido to protect everyone and everything in it from possible Nohrian attacks and refrained the Hoshidans from passing Nohr's borders. As Kai grew up along with the rest of his family, his siblings always came to spend time with him during the day as a way to check up on him. Azura was also always invited to spend time with them despite Takumi feeling uncomfortable when she was around. In that case, Kai was always the one to reassure him about Azura's being there, though what he says usually was unreasonable with because of his ditsy mixed with clueless personality. Despite it, his way of convincing his brother always seemed to work, much to Takumi's dismay. Though he seems fairly happy and normal around everyone, Kai had locked up his own memories of Sumeragi's death as well as his sister's kidnap and buried it into the deepest part of his mind which worried Ryoma and Mikoto most. It was mainly to prevent himself from falling apart and so that people would believe that he was just fine despite nearly dying as a helpless infant and knowing others were killed because of his existence. It wasn't very normal of him to always talk as if he was forcing himself to forget the bad when he clearly spoke casually about other things that didn't concern or connect with the past just fine. Ryoma often brings up his abnormal behaviors when he gets the chance to, but Kai would always shrug it away as a result. Knowing that he didn't like being pursued about his way of protecting himself, the family eventually stopped asking him and only observed for when he acted strange. As Kai continued to grow older, the boy was soon trained to take up a sword with Ryoma being his teacher as well as sparring partner and Takumi being his secondary sparring partner when their brother was unavailable. Their intention was more likely to have him protect himself rather than fight for the Hoshidan army since he could still be targeted by Nohr once they find out that he is still alive in Hoshido. Kai ever liked training with a weapon thus always trying to make excuses to escape and laze around much to everyone's dismay. Despite that, he grew up to be a fine swordsman under Ryoma's intensive training schedule for him-- he even had extra hours and days added in for times he skipped his training. When he is married in the future, he'll have a daughter named Kana.

Hoshido continued to flourish in peace and unity without Nohrian invasions which pleased the Hoshidans more than the Nohrians wanted. Eventually to disturb the peace, a Nohrian spy was sent in to infiltrate Hoshido and find what information they could to sent back to Nohr. Spotting Kai greeting and checking up on the citizens of Hoshido, the spy quickly reported back to Nohr after studying the young man longer and sent the news towards Garon's way. The king was intrigued by the news; along with his devised plan to break into Hoshido's land for the throne, he also focused on Kai to get him to act against Hoshido from the inside, weakening their forces for Nohr's sake. The spy was sent back into Hoshido to make contact and persuade the Hoshidan Prince with Nohrian cultures and the King's ways of action in order to get him to turn his way against the Hoshidans. None of the royals were aware of his plans to turn Kai away from them, but they were very suspicious with his decisions to meet their brother everyday out of the blue. Though Kai is very dense and clueless, little of the Nohrian cultures interested and influenced Kai greatly, much to the Hoshidan's dismay. Even his uniform began to alternate between Hoshidan and Nohrian designs. He wasn't highly convinced about his family being his kidnappers away from Nohr thus preventing him from attacking them prematurely, however. Kai was trusting towards the spy, but was not trusting enough to act as brash as the Nohrians had wished he would. After months of trying, the spy eventually left unsuccessfully; he was only able to get Kai interest in the culture rather than mess with his mind and draw him to side with the Nohrian. The Hoshidan royals grew alerted after never seeing the Nohrian spy again and eventually fortified protection around Kai which gave him less freedom to do things he wanted to do. At first he was fine with having his siblings watch out for him out of worry, but now he felt as if it was unreasonable to have millions of guards constantly following him where ever he went instead of his usual one or two retainers serving him when it was needed. A few days after unable to stay under heavy watch, the young man ran off to hide and find some time alone. Unaware that Azura was nearby in his new hiding spot, the young man relaxed and allowed himself to lower his guard.

Seeing Kai scamper around and finally drop in a spot to relax, Azura decided to head over to see if he was alright. Kai thought that he was alone when he stopped running, but when the young woman appeared, his alertness rose much higher than before which caused his powers to go unbalanced from the mixed emotions that suddenly spiked up. This caused him to transform into a dragon to defend himself from the "dangers" that he believed to be surrounding him. The ruckus that was caused by him quickly led the Hoshidan army and their commanders his way which made him panic more than he needed to-- their weapons didn't help the case either. Before anyone could attack the dragon, Azura reverted him back with her powers to prevent chaos from happening and apologized for scaring him. His siblings were left dumbfounded by his new abnormal abilities while as Kai had no idea how it even happened in the first place. Seeing that he was scared about his power that was hidden away from him, Azura continued to guide him from thereon in order to keep him calm and have him learn to control it. It took several months to get him into control of his unbalanced potential and away from Azura's guide. Even with himself in tact, Takumi began to feel unsure of his own brother and cautious of his unspeakable ability-- he is especially unsure of Kai for his decisions to express Nohrian culture on himself rather than their usual Hoshidan clothes so openly. Kai, who was fully aware of this, eventually lessened the expression around Takumi to get him comfortable, but still often displays the opposing culture without shame. With his efforts being taken lightly, Takumi soon grew to dislike Kai much to his dismay. The rest of their siblings accepted him for doing what he did and assured him that Takumi was just trouble by their past events and truly didn't hate him. With that said, the young man continued on with expressing both cultures freely, but still tries to keep his brother's comfort zone in mind even if Takumi continues to show disdain.

Normally, the land of Hoshido is completely peaceful and quiet, but most recently, the land was littered by monsters all around the barrier. Fearing the attack may weaken the defense protecting their land, the Hoshidan army split into groups with their generals being the royals and their retainers. Kai, however, didn't exactly have retainers for Rinkah only provided the kingdom assistance during their times of need under her father's order and Kaze swore to fully pledge himself to be his retainer along with his kidnapped sister as soon as they get her back. No matter, they still gave him their full services until they were tasked to do something else-- during that time, Kai would go off alone if numbers dwindled or stuck by one of his siblings' side. As the young man departed off to search for problems around town and the barrier one day, Kai and Ryoma-- who came back to help his younger brother after finishing his own mission-- were quickly reported to help Sakura and Hinoka who were currently surrounded by unknown monsters known to others as Faceless. Most of their men were either heavily injured, dead, or were also surrounded themselves by said enemy to come and aid them. Alarmed by the news, both princes rush off to save the girls from harm's way. After getting them to safety, the group was presented with another problem northeast of the castle. Kai offered to go and requested for his siblings to rest after their hard work.

Taking up his stubborn offer and wishing him safety, Ryoma and the girls departed back home for their much needed rest. The young man was relieved to know they trusted him that much and allowed him to go lead the army into another fight himself. Bearing the thought in mind, Kai departed for the northeast area being under attacked. Though he didn't know what he was up against, the young man still held his head up high and produced auras of confidence despite his discomfort for killing-- he loved sparring with a challenge but he hated taking away another's life. At first he was dealing with the same enemies his siblings did, but then he noticed another figure watching him closely as he fought. They made no move and only lurked in the shadows, which was odd. Focusing mainly on the monsters in front of him, Kai continued to defend himself against the endless enemies along with his troops. A loud explosion and soon a roar caught him off-guard-- it came from the direction of the castle which worried him tremendously. Soon, he grew tired from the non-stop attacks and completely outnumbered much to his fright until a strange sword that glowed brightly appeared in his possession and purged the enemies away from him. Seeing that the strange figure had left, the young man continued to rid the rest of his enemies and noticed they slowly disappeared rather than gather in numbers. After his job nearly failed, he returned home to see his land truly destroyed and many of the Hoshidans killed along with Queen Mikoto, possibly when he heard the strange noises. Devastated, Kai soon joined in with the Hoshidans and-- to his surprise and joy-- twin sister, Loire, to help push back the Nohrian attack after he returned, leaving both the Nohrians and Loire shocked towards his existence and his questionable appearance of a Nohrian. Meanwhile, the sword he possessed, a half of the Yato that matched Loire's, caught his Hoshidan siblings and his twin's attention as well.
