PROLOGUE

As you may remember we left off after James, Rose, and Albus boarded the Hogwarts express.

When Ginny and Harry went home with Lily, then noticed she looked glum as she sat on the loveseat in the potters living room...

CHAPTER 1

"Honey," said Ginny "What's wrong?" Lily turned away from her mother's gaze. "Nothing." She mumbled as she bit her her left pinkie fingernail.

Harry turned to Ginny and gave her the look. "Um, Lily, this wouldn't have anything to do with not getting to go to Hogwarts with your brothers would it?" Said Harry nonchalantly.

Lily ignored her father's question and walked up to her room and slammed the door. Ginny and Harry looked at at each other with wide eyes. Lily had never done anything like this before. Harry decided it was time to tell her.

"Lily?" Said Harry quietly as he knocked on the door. "I just wanted to talk to you." There was silence for a few moments and then the door slowly creaked open. He saw that Lily's eyes were the same dark beautiful color as her grandmother's. And they looked as if she'd been crying.

"What do you want?" She said. Harry walked into the room. He had almost forgotten how pink it was. She had pink walls with posters of her favorite muggle and wizard bands plastered on every wall.

Harry walked over to the bulletin board hanging above her desk. She had pictures of her with her friends, family, and brothers.

Then he saw it. The picture that he had kept on his bedside table for years. It was the one picture he had of his mother and father. As he stared at the photo his eyes started to water and he looked away. When he looked at his daughter he saw the same face that had once walked the Hogwarts corridors and pranced happily though Godric's Hallow.

"Honey. I have something I need to tell you." Lily looked up at her dad with swollen eyes. " I want to tell you about your grandmother and grandfather.

CHAPTER 2

"You're grandma and grandpa were marvelous witches and wizards. They were amazing with every class they took. Professor Slughorn said that-"

"I'm sorry dad but professor Slughorn?" Lily interrupted.

"Yes. But he said that my mother was the head of the class and got a good grade on every paper. You Lily Potter were named after you grandmother. The best witch of her age. She-"

"Sorry again dad but, I thought that Aunt Hermione was the best witch?"

"How old do you think she is!!" Said Harry.

Lily looked at her dad and realized this was very important to him.

"Go on." She whispered

Harry continued. "What I'm trying to say is that they risked their lives to protect their son. And I would do the same for you."

Lily stared up at her dad with wondering eyes. She was in shock. Not from the risking life but from finally finding out what had happened to her family.

CHAPTER 3

Harry was sitting in his favorite chair. It was dark brown leather and it was a wedding present from his childhood friend Luna.

Then he had a idea.

"Lily!" He called. "Get your jacket and follow me!"

They soared through the air on their broomsticks as Lily followed Harry wondering where the were going.

They stopped in front of an apartment complex in London. Harry tapped a certain pattern on the door and it swung open.

Lily looked around in awe as Harry showed her around.

"Number 12, Grimmauld place. No other place like it." Harry snapped his fingers and yelled "KREACHER!"

Just then a small creature appeared. He short with a long wrinkly crooked nose. He looked very old and non-human.

"Kreacher has come master. What does master want?" Harry looked down at Kreacher and said, "Take me and my daughter up to Sirius's room please."

As they walked up the old creaky stairway to his room, they saw the talking portrait of Mrs.Black, Sirius's mother. "FILTHY BLOOD TRAITORS! YOU DON'T KNOW HOW BAD OF AN IDEA IT WAS TO COME BACK TO THIS HOUSE! YOU MADE A BIG MISTAKE!"

"Ignore her Lily." Said Harry.

"YOU'D BETTER GO BEFORE I KICK YOU OUT! I MEAN IT! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE OR I'LL,-"

"Shut your big yap hole?" Said Lily.

"I LIKE YOU EVEN LESS THAN YOUR FATHER!"

Harry walked into Sirius's room and relived the old memories.

He walked around the room and stood over by his dresser.

He fingered through Sirius's clothes and saw a crumpled piece of parchment.

He opened it and smoothed it out. It was a letter from his mom and dad. It read;

October 10, 1981

Dear Padfoot,

Exciting news! Lily's pregnant! Harry's doing backflips! Literally! I've been putting the backflip charm on him. ;) (don't tell Lily. She thinks he's a baby wizard genius!) You should see Lily's stomach! It's huge! Harry doesn't really notice. Sure he does he's a very smart boy. He looked more like me when he was born. Looked. Keyword looked. He's his father's son. Severus says he looks more like me. Really. Talking about ol' snivellus. Yes, but don't call him that. By the ways Padfoot, we've decided to make Severus the child's Godfather! Which means you have to start respecting him! Respect Snivellus? Is that even possible? Of course it is. I did my whole childhood! He's a very nice man. Except to Tuney. Speaking of your sister how is that old bat? She's not an old bat, she's my sister! Now, we have to go. Harry's whining up in his room. See you soon!

CHAPTER 4

Harry stared at the page for a few minutes and said nothing. Then he cried. And cried and cried. Lily came over and saw her dad crying. She looked at the letter.She read it through and looked at her dad with empathy.

"Dad. I'm so sorry." She said as quiet as she could.

Harry looked at his daughter and hugged her. She looked at her father and buried her head in his shoulder.

"What's wrong honey?" Harry said.

"You had a little brother or sister. They didn't make it. I could have had another aunt or uncle."

Harry stoked her hair. He said, "I know this has been a rough week, but everything will be okay. Now let's go home before your mom gets to worried."

Lily looked at the house and then went outside and mounted her broom.

CHAPTER 5

Dear Rose

Hi Rose! It's cousin Lily! How's Hogwarts? I have a great idea. You know your mom's timeturner? I need you to help me steal it. So I found out that my dad had a sibling but his mom hadn't had it yet when Voldemort killed her. My plan is to go back and save my dad's parents so the baby can live. You know a lot of magic and can take the time turner from your mom so you NEED to help me! Please!

Lily put down the quill and reread the letter.

Perfect. She thought. Rose will so help me!

Just then she saw an owl soaring throughout the blue sky.

The letter attached to it said;

Dear Lily,

Maybe. I don't want to disobey mom or sneak out of school but if I have to I will. My education is very important to me so I will be bringing my spell books and parchment. I will meet you on King's Cross Station at 10:00 tomorrow evening.

Lily was ecstatic! She went over to her closet and found her trunk she had planned to use at Hogwarts the following year.

She filled it with chocolate cauldrons and peppermint imps. She figured she'd want to keep up on her studies like her cousin so she brought a couple books.

Then she wrote a note to her mom and dad. Then she figured it would take a while to get to Kings Cross so she waited until her parent fell asleep and then she set off.

CHAPTER 6

Lily walked through London and slowly but surely made her way to Kings Cross.

She got there a quarter to 10. She decided to walk around. She had always seen her brothers run through the barrier so she thought she would give it a try.

She found platforms nine a ten and stared straight down the middle.

She ran towards the brick wall gaining speed. She noticed someone coming through the barrier. She made an attempt to stop but she ran into the girl.

"Lily! What were you thinking?" Said the girl.

It took Lily a few moments to realize it was Rose.

"Sorry Rose." Said Lily. She got up and gave her favorite cousin a hug."So, how's Hogwarts? Does Hagrid miss me?"

Rose came to her feet and returned her cousins hug.

"Well of course Hagrid misses you! You were named after him!"

"I was sure named after a lot of people!"

"Well Ruby. We'd better be off. We have to be to the ministry before my mom wakes up!" Rose exclaimed.

As they walked a long Kings Cross, Lily noticed that all Rose had brought was a small purse.

"I thought you would be bringing clothes and food?" Said Lily. "I did!" Said Rose and she showed Lily the inside of the bag. It was huge!It had clothes, a bathroom, and a tv! It even had bunk beds that Rose had somehow been able jam in.

"Wow! I really need to learn more magic!" Lily mumbled. Rose nodded and walked over to the conductor at platform 10.

"Hello sir. I was wondering which train might help us get to, Opps! I mean where are the telephone booths?"

The conductor gave them an odd glance but pointed them in the direction.

Lily also gave Rose an odd glance because she knew that they already had a telephone in the bag.

Rose noticed and said; "It's how we get to moms work. I know it seems odd. I thought so at first to but it all makes since considering we have to be able to hide it from muggles."

Lily nodded still wondering what was going on and followed Rose.

They walked into the booth which was by platform 13. Rose walked in.

"Well? Are you coming or not?" Said Rose. Lily was still wondering what was going on but went in.

Rose reached over to the old phone and typed in 62442.

Lily knew what that was. She had been hearing it all her life. "That's the code for the Ministry of Magic!" She exclaimed.

"It is and you'd better hold on tight!" Rose yelled as there was a loud boom and they flew away. They went through time and space. Not that they knew.

They there was a crash and another loud boom. They had arrived.

CHAPTER 7

Lily peaked out of the booth. She saw nothing but pitch black darkness. Then she turned to ask Rose what had happened. But she couldn't. Rose was gone.

"LILY!" Shouted a voice that sounded an awful lot like her aunt Hermione.

Lily wanted to go give her favorite aunt a hug but that would risk the whole mission.

Lily decides no one would be able to see her in the darkness so she stepped out of the booth.

"ROSE!" She yelled. "RO-" she felt a hand slap over her mouth.

"Lily! Quiet!" Said a voice. She turned around and through the dark she could make out her aunt Hermione.

"No! Aunt Hermione I didn't mean t-" "shh!" Said her aunt. "Lily! It's me! Rose! I used the polyjuice potion!" She was beaming. "I'm that realistic!"

Then she shook it off. "I have some for you to! You are going to be your dad since you already probably have some of his hair on you clothes, from after he washes them."

Lily was skeptical. "But why would my dad be at the ministry? He isn't an auror anymore. Everyone will be wondering why he's here!"

Rose rolled her eyes. "I've thought of all of this already! Your coming to visit your good friend and minister Hermione! I will be in the office looking for that time turner."

She started to walk away but then she stopped and turned around. "Oh yeah! Here's your dose of the polyjuice potion. You might not want to eat it all at once. It's kind of gross."

Then Rose turned and walked out of the room. Lily's eyes had finally adjusted to the dark and she looked down at the bottle in her hands. It was a gold color with specks in it. It was chunky and gloppy.

'So this is what my dad would look like.' She thought.
