Chapter Ten
"So let me get this straight. Michael's mom tortures people in a secret room, the entrance of which, is concealed by a bunch of really poisonous flowers-"
"Lilies of the valley," Michael interrupted Julia, then, realizing that it wasn't all that important added, "they were Emma's favorite."
"Right. Lilies of the valley. Anyway, Michael's psychotic sister then eats the souls of the people that their mom tortures and kills in this secret room because when she was ten she was in a coma and her and Michael's parents used a bunch of Latin spells to bring her back to life. This made her evil and gave her and Michael magic. Now has to eat souls to stay alive. Nora, you found the secret room, then Michael saved you from being captured, but then you got captured anyway and tortured for god knows how long. You escaped by picking the lock with a knife that was wedged in your hand. Do I have that right?" Julia finished. The entire time that Nora and Michael had been telling the story, she had stayed completely silent, taking it all in. She never questioned anything they said, no matter how unbelievable it was.
Nora nodded in confirmation and Julia loosed a breath she didn't realize she'd been holding.
"So why me?" she asked.
"What do you mean?" Nora responded.
"Why come to me? I get why you can't go to the police, but why me? Where do I fit in this story?"
"Well. This is going to sound mean, but I came to you because you're a nerd."
"That literally makes no sense."
"Well. You've read like every fantasy book ever, and you've seen all the superhero movies ever made. I guess you just have more knowledge in this type of thing. Plus, let's be honest here, if I took on magic without you, you would kill me."
"Fair enough."
"So what do we do?" Michael asked.
"Well," Julia said, getting a mischievous glint in her eyes, "we make a plan, execute the plan, expect the plan to go off the rails, and then we throw away the plan." Nora and Michael just looked her in confusion. "Really guys? Nothing?"
"Why would we do that? We don't want to make a plan that we're just going to throw away," Michael said. Julia looked at them incredulously.
"No. That was-. Do you really not know what that was from?" Julia asked. Nora shook her head. "Okay well, that was. Okay. Anyway, the point is we need to make a plan."
"Any ideas?" Nora asked.
"None."
"Then I guess we better start thinking," Michael said.
Sorry this is a really short chapter.
I just could not seem to get into the right headspace to write today.
But on the bright side, I have been waiting this entire story to add a reference like that one.
Comment if you know what it's from because if you do then I instantly like you.
I hope you enjoyed and again I'm sorry it was so short today.
See you tomorrow.
xoxo
