Ron Needs A New Wand
I was looking forward to Transfiguration class today, because Professor McGonagall had told me earlier that we'll be turning animals into water goblets.
The spell is Vera Verto, which you say after tapping the animal three times with the tip of your wand. She demonstrated, and the bird transfigured into a beautiful-looking crystal water goblet.
"Now, who would like to go first...?" She picked Ron. "Ah, Mr. Weasley. One two three, Vera Verto."
Ron tries, but doesn't succeed, unfortunately. Instead of a perfect goblet, it has a little extra tail.
"That wand needs replacing, Mr. Weasley," Professor McGonagall said beneath all the laughter. I giggled, since the cup did look rather strange...and funny, too!
Ron nodded sheepishly and looked at his broken wand. I wonder what happened to it...?
"Yes, Miss Granger?"
Oh right, I still didn't talk to Hermione yet, after, you know, what happened last it. It was really weird, though. I don't remember half the things I did, and suddenly I'm in a different house, and with new friends too! And what's more, is that negative comments about people who used to be my friends run through my head unexpectedly.
I probably was asleep all this time. Like Sleeping Beauty Aurora, who had to sleep for a thousand years. But she remembered some stuff after she woke up. Oh well...
"...the Chamber of Secrets?"
Those four words dragged me back into reality. I looked around me. The class was silent, although Julian looked rather bored.
Is Professor McGonagall going to explain to us about...the Chamber of Secrets? I wasn't paying attention, but now I am!
"Very well, then. You all know, of course, that Hogwarts was founded over a thousand years ago by the four greatest witches and wizards of the age: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin."
Some students nodded, and others stayed silent. I was one of the ones to nodded, because, well...because I could!
"Now, three of the founders co-existed quite harmoniously. One did not. Salazar Slytherin wished to be more selective about the students admitted to Hogwarts. He believed magical learning should be kept within all-magic families. In other words, 'purebloods.' Unable to sway the others, he decided to leave the school. Now, according to legend, Slytherin had built a hidden chamber in this castle, known as the Chamber of Secrets."
Hmm...interesting. Although everyone else was just listening motionlessly, I took out a quill and ink, along with parchment, and copied the main ideas down. Who knows? It could be useful afterwards.
"Though, shortly before departing, he sealed it until that time when his own true heir returned to the school. The heir alone would be able to open the Chamber and unleash the horror within, and by so doing purge the school of all those who, in Slytherin's view, were unworthy to study magic."
Muggleborns, like Hermione.
"Well, naturally, the school had been searched many times. No such chamber has been found. The Chamber is said to home to something that only the Heir of Slytherin can control. It is said to be the home of a monster.
From two seats in front of me, Draco smirked to himself.
There's a 'monster' right here in the castle! Cool, huh?
