Half-Sister
Harry's POV (After his detention ended)
Instead of thinking about what the hooded figure was like I should be right now, my thoughts floated over to my changed little sister.
"She's no longer your true sister, Potter," Malfoy sneered. "She'd pick me over you."
Whoops! I guess I said that out loud. But I will not give Malfoy any sort of satisfaction!
"How are you so sure?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.
He smirked. "I know everything about my darling cousin." Cousin?!
I stopped in my tracks as Malfoy swaggered back to Hogwarts. Ron and Neville finally caught up to me. Neville ran ahead, then tripped, then got back up and kept running back to Hogwarts.
"You okay, mate?" Ron asked. "Don't worry about Neville, he's just upset that we'd lost Gryffindor points."
"It's not that," I responded. "Malfoy was just saying he's cousins with Liliana...you reckon it's true?"
Ron wrinkled his nose. "Does that mean you're Malfoy's cousin too? I mean, I know all pureblood families are somehow related, but that'll make us all distant relatives, right? Not cousins!"
I shook my head. "But did you hear what Liliana called Hermione?"
Ron bit his lip. "'Mudblood' is just a highly disrespectful word for Muggleborn, that's all."
"I know that, but doesn't that sound like the type of thing Malfoy would normally say?"
Ron looked taken back. "You-you mean that Liliana is cousins with Malfoy but you aren't?! How's that possible?!"
I shrugged. "And you know what Liliana told me after Hermione had gotten hurt last night?" Ron shook his head. "She said for me to wish my parents good luck for having a spoiled son like me-"
"But Lily and James Potter are her parents too!" Ron yelped. "How could she-"
"Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley."
Ron and I spun around to see Professor Dumbledore looking down at us.
"P-professor-"
"Now if you don't mind, Mr. Weasley, I'd like to speak to Mr. Potter alone, in my office please."
Ron nodded and left briskly.
I followed Dumbledore to his office. He sat down at his desk.
"I trust you know what we will be discussing today?" Dumbledore asked.
I shook my head and waited for him to continue.
"Liliana Potter, your half-sister."
"M-my half-sister?!" I asked in disbelief.
Dumbledore nodded. "Yes, you share the same father, James Potter, but different mothers. I hope you wouldn't treat Liliana any differently, now that you know a part of the truth."
I stared at Dumbledore as he continued. "You will know who her mother is when you're older. Now is not the time. I trust you have things on your mind?"
I closed my eyes, trying to soak the information in. Once I opened my eyes to tell Dumbledore everything, but he had disappeared, leaving me in his now-empty office.
