i. um... HEY GUYS??? it's been 84 years since i last touched this fic. i honestly didn't ever see myself returning to writing for asoiaf in general, but especially not for lilac. i got really discouraged the last time i was writing it and hit the worst writer's block ever which was partially due to the desire to rewrite a lot of this story and how daunting that process seemed to me at the time. but after not touching it for about three... maybe four (?) years or so, here i am again. i can't speak about lilac without thanking luciangemini who first gave me this plot back in 2017. FIVE YEARS AGO!!! ali isn't active on wattpad but we do keep in touch off of this platform and i am so thankful that she allowed me to tell this story. she is the spark that brought this book into existence and i will always be grateful to her for that!

ii. another huge thank you to my darling dearest medusatruther for the amazing moodboards in this summary. noa has also been with me (and with this story) for a very long time!!! lilac would not be the book that it is today without the hours and hours they have let me ramble to them about it over the years and i cherish the way this book has contributed to our friendship. love u FOREVER AND EVER!!!

vi. now, for some actual notes about the fic that are not just thank yous: this is a rewrite of the original lilac, so it won't be exactly as you might remember it. the changes shouldn't be too drastic. mostly, i will be fleshing out some characterization elements, adding some more original characters in, and developing relationships that were previously sidelined in the first version. to me, it felt like these things were greatly missing from the first draft and i am excited to have the opportunity to rectify that. that being said, this book will still follow the same storyline as before that you knew and loved. these changes will (hopefully) make the story better rather than detracting from it.

vii. updates are likely to be slow for this fic because i am still working full time and going to school and i have other books i would like to work on as well, but i will update when i can. i appreciate your patience in waiting for these updates. i will only be using this account for republishing old works, so i won't be very active on it. more often, you will be able to find me (and my new works) on my main account pelides.
