Chapter 9 || Waddle, waddle
"Jihoonie," Soonyoung called the boy softly, shaking him as he tried to wake the boy.
"JIHOON HYUNG, WAKE UP!" S.Coups yelled, taking over as he tried to wake the boy who'd fallen asleep on one of the outstretched chairs on the beach.
The boy, startled, woke with wide eyes before he landed on the floor.
"Is anyone bothered that S.Coups referred to Woozi as hyung even though he's older?" Vernon asked, frowning. He felt a bit relieved when everyone nodded.
"Why did you do that?" Jihoon yelled as he struggled to stand up.
They had arrived two hours ago and after seeing their hotel rooms and figured who would be sharing rooms, China line and the maknae insisted on going down to the beach for their memories of the Adore U Switched part version even if it wasn't the same one, a beach was a beach. And of course, feeling like he should be in with his unit, Soonyoung had insisted as well, mainly to relive the moments when he had been alone with Jihoon on the beach, only this time, with everyone else there.
To say Jihoon was displeased was an understatement considering he'd wanted to stay back and sleep.
But of course, nobody would allow him to as they teamed up and dragged him down to the beach, quite literally, may he add.
"I felt like it. We need to go back, it's getting late."
Soonyoung took a step forward and held his hand out to help his struggling friend up from the sandy floor. And Soonyoung had prepared himself for Jihoon to reject him.
So imagine his surprise as well as everyone else's when the boy took a hold of his hands.
Snapping out of his thoughts, he quickly and carefully helped the boy before him up before he could get second thoughts and pull his hands away as he decided against it.
"Thanks," Jihoon muttered, pulling his hands from Soonyoung's as he wiped them against his pants to rid of the sand.
"Jihoon-"
Jihoon looked up at S.Coups and narrowed his eyes which made the other take a step back, but Jihoon wasn't affected as he told the boy, "If I go deaf, it's probably because of you. And I swear that if I do go deaf, you will regret it for the rest of your life."
"Jihoon hyung can be scary," Minghao mumbled, half hidden behind Jun who held his hand to calm him.
"Is he just salty or tired?" DK asked, earning himself a glare.
"I'm not scary," Jihoon finally muttered before he took off ahead of the rest.
"Is he okay?"
"Is he... Is he waddling?" DK asked before he suddenly burst out laughing.
"You know, if he could hear you, you would most likely no longer be with us, DK," Seungkwan said, failing at his attempt of a smirk.
"No, I would not. But seriously, he's actually waddling!"
"Yes you would," everyone chorused before they each smiled at their random synchronization.
"I don't know, I think it's adorable," Soonyoung told DK who still seemed to be laughing.
"Then he waddled away! Waddle, waddle," DK sang in between his laughs to which Jeonghan lightly hit him against his head.
"Stop making fun of your unit leader."
"But-"
"DK!" everyone exclaimed.
"Okay, okay, gosh!"
"Anyway, let's head back."
* * *
Jihoon sat on the balcony of the hotel room a little after midnight with his head against his arms as he leaned against the railing.
He was unable to sleep and yet he was beyond exhausted and he was actually hungry.
He continued to silently stare at the stars as he went through his thoughts; mostly consisting of the last person he wanted to be thinking of.
"Jihoonie?"
"Hoshi..."
"What are you still doing up?" Soonyoung asked, leaning against the balcony railing beside the other.
Jihoon didn't bother looking at him as he spoke.
"I couldn't sleep."
"You can never sleep, Jihoon, What else s new?" Soonyoung joked, but Jihoon didn't find it funny.
"Soonyoung, you sound rude."
"Oh, I'm sorry-"
"I know."
Looking down this time, Jihoon admired the shining lights that were visible from where they stood.
They sat there in silence until finally, Jihoon couldn't take it anymore. He asked one of the questions that had been bothering him all night and something that ended up surprising Soonyoung.
"Do you think I looked like I was waddlying?"
Soonyoung looked over at him, his eyes wide. "Did you-"
"I heard DK. I'm not totally deaf yet, remember? Plus he was a bit loud back there. I saw you say something, but couldn't make out or hear what you said."
"I... Err, I would tell you, but I don't want you getting the guitar."
"I won't. Just tell me."
It's the first time Jihoon had ever asked something like that; where he asked to be told something. Usually he would keep to himself, finding it too forward for his liking to simply just ask.
When he looked at Jihoon, it was the first time he noticed or picked it up; it was the first time that Soonyoung noticed that Lee Jihoon was self-conscious.
If Soonyoung was being honest, he thought the boy was rather cute when he was like that.
"Hoshi?"
"Yeah?"
"Please... Please tell me."
And those words were what made Soonyoung gve in. Hearing the boy say please, something he rarely ever asked or said in conversations like this.
"Jihoon?"
"Yeah?"
"I thought you looked adorable," Soonyoung told him honestly, smiling until his eyes made his famous 10:10.
