Victorious

Years passed by as the Dreadnought left Belfast, bringing Sean and Malcolm with them per their request along for many more battles that seemed to blend together for Mark.

Each one always had so much blood.

With each battle fought, more and more of his friends began to disappear while his dreams became tainted with his fallen friend's faces that kept him awake in a cold sweat.

Him and Amy grew closer as they spent time together just talking and looking up at the sky at night to see the millions of glittering stars above them.

In early May of nineteen-forty five, there was one battle that changed everything for Mark.

They were going to Nazi Germany to end the war once and for all.

The ride to Germany was silent as people considered what could happen since they were attacking an area so large, their fear palpable in the tense atmosphere.

"So, you glad to finally finish this?" Amy asked Mark as they walked around the deck.

"Definitely, I'm so tired of fighting." Mark admitted.

"Me too." Amy nodded.

"Once this is all over, I don't even know what I would do." Amy added.

"I'd go back home to Hawaii with Thomas to see our Mom." Mark decided.

"I wish my family was as welcoming." Amy muttered sourly.

"Why aren't they?" Mark prompted curiously.

"They said that if I join the army that they'll disown me for breaking their heart since they're absolutely certain that I'm going to die." Amy chuckled mirthlessly, the sound lacking its usual brightness that Mark loved.

"Maybe we can find somewhere to live together." Mark suggested excitedly.

"I'm looking forward to it." Amy smirked, taking his hand and pulling him closer so she could kiss him.

Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Thomas flashing him a thumbs up with a proud smile.

"I love you." Mark told her.

"I love you too Markimoo." Amy whispered as their foreheads touched while they looked into each other's eyes that seemed to shine brighter than the sun above them.

"Captain Nelson, we're in close proximity with Germany." Captain Tyler informed her.

"Prepare the men for combat." Amy instructed as she ruffled Mark's hair lovingly before running to the bridge.

Mark watched her leave with a small smile, not noticing his friends dart up to him.

"Heya Mark, whatcha smiling about?" Sean asked.

"Nothing." Mark shook his head, glancing over at Thomas.

"Nothing? Dude, you and Amy were talking about moving in together, that's a big deal!" Thomas exclaimed.

"Why were you eavesdropping anyway?" Mark questioned.

"I'm your wingman, it's my right to know everything about your relationship." Thomas replied.

"No way!" Wade gushed.

"Alright men," Commander Morrison barked as he walked out into the deck.

"It's time."

Instantly everyone sprang into action, cleaning their guns and triple checking that their bags were fully stocked for any situation and weren't too heavy.

As soon as the boat docked at Germany's shore, everyone rushed off with guns raised and adrenaline pumping in their veins.

Everyone there was already celebrating.

"What-"

"Didn't you hear the news? Hitler's dead! The Nazi's are gone!" One of the bystanders cried joyously, cutting off Commander Morrison.

"Oh...well then." Commander Morrison coughed awkwardly as he turned to face his battalion.

"We won." Commander Morrison announced with a wide grin.

The men and women let out a cheer as they lowered their guns, couples kissing while friends hugged each other in celebration.

Mark spotted Amy in the mix of people and pushed his way through to lift her high in the air before kissing her.

"We did it." Amy murmured in awe.

"We did it." Mark repeated, moving a strand of hair out of her face with his thumb.

"So I guess now's a good time as any to do this before I lose my bravery." Mark remarked with a chuckle as he fished something out of his pocket.

"Amy, you've been there with me through everything, I don't know what I would've done without you during the battles when I wanted to give up. But now that the war's over, I don't want to let you go. So," Mark paused as he bent down on one knee in front of her.

"Will you marry me?" Mark asked hopefully, offering her the golden wedding band that used to belong to his father.

Too shocked for words, she only nodded ecstatically before throwing herself into his arms and hugging him close, tears of joy streaming down her face.

After awhile, everyone filed back onto the Dreadnought to sail to America with singing and dancing on deck.

As the ship docked, Mark started to leave with Amy at his side before Captain Schied stopped him with a grim expression.

"Mark, I already told Thomas, but your mother...she died." Tyler informed him remorsefully.

"O-oh." Mark stammered, his happiness dimmed by the news.

"I'm sorry I had to tell you." Tyler apologized.

Mark was silent as he numbly walked off the boat to meet his friends.

Thomas's face lit up with a sad smile when he saw the wedding band on Amy's hand, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.

"He'd be proud." Thomas remarked.

"I know." Mark nodded as he squeezed Amy's hand.

It didn't take Mark long to find a house he and Amy liked in LA, Tyler moving in with them to help pay for it.

Ethan lived close by them while Sean moved to Brighton, England where most of his friends were.

Commander Morrison moved to the south while Bob, Mandy, Molly, and Wade moved to Cincinnati where they had came from and Thomas found someplace in Cincinnati.

"You're too amazing." Amy remarked as she stood outside of their new house with his hand intertwined with hers.

"Like father like son." Mark shrugged as he walked inside, excited for the adventures that awaited them.
