Where The World Had Left Him Gray
A/N: When I said "Hey guys I'll release Plastic World if I get 400 followers by my birthday!" I was saying it because it was so far-fetched it seemed impossible. I was at like 370 followers when I said that. Why do I have almost 400 followers in the course of a week? Are you guys on steroids?
LOL either way, thank you to my Wattpad readers. I'm almost at 400 on Wattpad, and considering my birthday is almost 3 weeks away, I think it's safe to say you're probably getting Plastic World pretty soon. You guys really like Jimin ff, huh?
The Cop From Busan is still set to release after LC finishes. We're eight chapters away after this one...

The arsenal siege was two days away.
Taehyung was in the castle with his hands folded behind his back. Jungkook and Shawman were across from him. They had cleared out the entirety of the castle, ridding it of guards and taking the few prisoners either back to Moros or in the basement of the castle. There were plans to make New Theon one united nation. Jungkook led the planning and had already mapped out where they were going to build farms. They had the resources the Emperor had once had, which meant they had the freedom to fix their home.
The circular room was made of concrete-like bricks that had dust on them. Whoever had been the housekeeper for the castle didn't do their job. Taehyung spotted several dust bunnies in the corner of the room. Even on the stone table they were standing around, there was dust covering it.
"We charge the arsenal and steal as many weapons as we can. The people with the most firearms are going to be in the middle," Jungkook said, pointing to each spot on the map.
Yoongi had marked it for them, and he was under heavy monitoring. Jihyun was too. Therapists were working with the younger Park, trying to explain what had happened to Jimin. Jihyun was too young and immature to understand the severity of the situation, but the therapists did him the kindness of telling him Jimin set him free. At least that way, Jihyun thought Jimin kept his promise. Not that he'd ever break a promise. He was on the team to free his brother, so it wasn't a complete lie. More of a stretching of the truth.
"Commander Shawman will lead the siege while Y/n and I go to rescue Jimin," Jungkook said.
"Is it a good idea to bring her along? She can't hold a sword," Taehyung replied.
"No, but she can hold a gun. We're training her with a pistol. She's taken naturally to it," Shawman said with a sad smile. "She's not going to fight. She's going to save Jimin."
"Which will result in a fight." Taehyung paused to sigh. "I want to be with Shawman. The odds are Namjoon will be on that side of the battle. Let me lead it with him."
"You're not fit to lead a battle," Shawman said. "I've been trained for years for military leadership, it's not fair to you to put that pressure on you. Listen Taehyung, we can train you nonstop with fighting, but even if you train all day and night for this mission, it won't change how you lack the experience necessary to lead a charge."
The sounds in the room were distant due to Taehyung missing an ear. Still, he could hear the pity in Shawman's tone. It was a weight on the edge of his words. Taehyung didn't know if he should be offended or not.
"Jin would've done it for me," Taehyung muttered.
"But would he want this for you?" Shawman asked, which caused Taehyung to hang his head.
Jungkook stepped away from the table and the map. "I'm gonna go debrief Y/n one more time. We only have two days. Tae, we have training tonight and tomorrow. I assume you don't want to train with a pistol?"
"No. I want to see Namjoon's eyes when I..." Taehyung trailed off and gripped the side of the table. "No. It'd be irresponsible to give me one. Give it to someone who's going on the mission to free New Theon, not someone who just wants revenge."
Jungkook squeezed Tae's shoulder before leaving Shawman and Tae alone. When the wooden door creaked shut, Shawman turned to Tae and came a bit closer than needed.
"I'm glad you acknowledge how bad you're getting, but-"
"But nothing," Taehyung interrupted. "I want you to imagine the person you love most in this world. Close your eyes and think of their smiling face. Think of your son, Shawman. Now picture an arrow coming out of his chest. An arrow fired by Kim Namjoon, an enemy of the rebellion. The man who murdered Jin in cold blood. If it was Ash, you would've killed Namjoon by now. If it was Jimin, Y/n would've killed Namjoon by now. There are times when revenge is necessary."
"Not when it destroys you," Shawman said with a shaky breath.
"Whatever was left of me died with Jin." Taehyung paused to step back, eyeing Shawman up and down. "Why are you doing this? You've done nothing but help the rebellion. You've put yourself in constant danger."
"New Theon deserves freedom. We don't want to be stuck on this rock forever-"
"Why are you doing this, Shawman?" Taehyung repeated, and Shawman fell quiet at that.
The wrinkles on his face stood out more than usual. He had bags under his eyes, and his hair was balding. Taehyung couldn't tell if it was from age or stress.
"I know what revenge does to people because it did it to me," Shawman whispered with his head tilted down toward the table. He held the sides of the stone until his knuckles turned pale. "My wife was killed in cold blood too. I saw the killer. Some guard who couldn't be older than twenty. He was just a kid following orders, but I didn't care. I hunted him down. Every day for three months, I tracked him, and when I caught him, I beat him to death slowly with my bare hands. I kept him alive for five days, and each day would bring worse punishment. I neglected my kid. I neglected my duty to Mount Moros. I neglected myself."
Shawman broke off to meet Taehyung's eyes. "I'm fighting to atone. By freeing my people, maybe I can make up for what I did to that poor boy. Everyone has lost someone because of the Emperor."
"I'm so sorry, Shawman. We're going to stop this war, we're going to put an end to the Emperor's reign," Taehyung whispered as a tear rolled down his face. The map was by his side with the arsenal marked. Two days until New Theon was rid of that monster.
Two days until they were truly free.

The arsenal looked like a maze.
It was a one-story building, but it was wide enough that it seemed larger than any of the skyscrapers in the City. It was on sand with waves crashing in the background. There were guards out front speaking to another. However, Taehyung and Shawman were too far away to make out what they were saying.
The team going into the arsenal was hiding in the trees. They were camouflaged with their bodies covered in mud. They were ducked behind bushes and leaves, peeking out at the arsenal. It was a black structure with no windows. The front double doors seemed locked by a passcode none of them knew, not even Yoongi. Yoongi wasn't on the mission, but he wrote down everything they needed to know about the arsenal. A passcode was listed on there, but how they would get it was a different story. The current plan was for them to use a bomb designed by Jungkook. That damn academy training paid off after all.
"Jungkook and Y/n should be in position by now," Shawman said to Tae. "You're lucky I'm allowing you in the front assault, but don't you dare stay at my level. Go to the back of the first wave."
Although reluctant, Taehyung agreed. He was lucky enough that Shawman allowed him to be in the front at all, and he was grateful. That meant he had a better shot at finding and killing Namjoon.
His battle armor wasn't fit to withstand bullets, and seeing as the guards out front had pistols holstered by their sides, Taehyung figured their archers would come in handy now. Unfortunately, the guards also had armor. It seemed thicker than the rebellion's. They had helmets that made them faceless men. That was yet another way the Emperor took their identity from them. Taehyung almost pitied them. But almost wasn't good enough.
The archers were in the back, meant to provide covering fire. However, many of them were on the other side of the forest, performing a flank maneuver. Shawman whistled, and the guards snapped their heads up. As soon as they did, arrows flew. Two of the arrows bounced off their armor, but one arrow to the neck was all it took.
"The neck is the weak spot!" Shawman called to the rest of the rebels who didn't see. There were over a hundred of them, all waiting to charge. And as soon as they were sure the two guards were dead, that was exactly what they did.
Shawman sprinted toward the arsenal with the first wave behind him. Taehyung ran with his sword banging against his utility belt. Shawman got there first and planted the bomb, everyone backing away in time for it to explode and break off the doors. They went inside, which signaled the start of the second wave, and the third would trickle in behind them.
Taehyung disobeyed Shawman's orders and slipped closer to the front. However, in battle, he doubted Shawman would be keeping an eye on him, especially because of how giant the interior of the arsenal was.
Bright white lights were in the ceiling, and the inside was one enormous space for training. That was when Taehyung realized why Yoongi said it was dangerous: the guards were ready.
"You really think we don't have cameras in the trees?" a familiar male voice asked.
Taehyung and the rebels slowed to a stop as they saw what they had walked into. The area was filled with rows upon rows of weapons. There were rifles and shotguns, pistols and what looked to be grenade launchers. The rebels didn't have enough guns to outmatch them, but Taehyung hopped they had the numbers. Although the Emperor's men had the firepower, they had about fifty men at most, and the Emperor was nowhere to be seen. Leading them was none other than Kim Namjoon, who was in the middle of the gray room.
Before the rebellion had time to react, the Emperor's men were firing away. The rebellion stood out in the open while the enemies had the rows of weapons to hide behind. The rebellion had to scatter and rush forward.
Taehyung sunk back to his position. The situation had gotten too serious for Taehyung to even attempt to disobey orders. Namjoon jumped behind a rack of weapons and braced himself. And that was when Taehyung realized it: explosives. The men had grenade launchers. Only four, but enough to be a threat. A beat later, they got fired.
And everything went white.
Taehyung already couldn't hear well, but now, his only ear felt like it had been torn off. His vision was white and blurry, and he heard screams all around him. Blood soaked his hands, and when his eyesight came back to him, he didn't know if he should be thankful or horrified that the blood wasn't his.
There were rebel corpses all around him with their limbs blown off. Shawman had gotten far enough that he took out one of the grenadiers, and the archers were storming in so they could join the fight. At least two dozen rebels had died to the grenades, and Taehyung was almost one of them. He coughed and choked, his eyes filled with tears as he took out his sword, placed the tip against the ground, and hoisted himself up.
The fight wasn't over yet. He could rest when it was. Taehyung sprinted to join, but it was more of a limp. His wound from the arrow hadn't healed yet, and it didn't help that he got all the wind knocked out of him.
Namjoon was leading the charge, and Taehyung went straight for him, disregarding the rest of the fight. He didn't care that there were sword duels going on all around him. He didn't care there were more grenadiers the rebels had to deal with. All he saw was Kim Namjoon, who was battling off another rebel. The woman fell to the ground, and Namjoon turned in time to block Taehyung's strike.
"You look familiar," Namjoon said as Taehyung grunted, straining to keep their swords locked. "You're the one I took the ear of, aren't you?"
"Fuck you!"
Namjoon blocked all of Taehyung's strikes. No matter how hard he hit, Namjoon didn't so much as flinch. Taehyung focused on using his environment like Jungkook had taught him. He grabbed one of the knives from off the rack beside him and threw it at Namjoon. It grazed his armor plate, popping off the shoulder piece and revealing the thin black undershirt hiding there.
The battle continued, with Taehyung running out stamina faster than he had expected. The sword strikes meant nothing if he couldn't score a hit. Namjoon's defense was unbeatable. His dragon eyes fell on Taehyung as the fight for New Theon continued. Taehyung gripped his sword tighter, but as soon as he was about to pounce, Shawman jumped in and bashed his sword against Namjoon's.
Namjoon staggered back from the force. The leader of the Emperor's men panted from the sudden intrusion, and Shawman got in front of Taehyung and planted his feet.
"We do this together," Shawman said, and Taehyung agreed.
They tag teamed Namjoon. They took turns striking blows that made the man falter. Although Namjoon was a powerful fighter, Shawman was one of the best in the rebellion, and Taehyung liked to think he was far above average thanks to his experience and how he got trained by the two best fighters in New Theon. His skills paid off when Namjoon groaned and got cut on his shoulder.
Unlike the rest of the guards, Namjoon had special armor. His was a glowing red that didn't quite hide his face behind a helmet. He had a mask, and his eyes were visible, but the top of his head was covered by a flat cap that seemed impenetrable. He had thick boots that were made of what looked like steel. Taehyung knew not to aim for the legs, but the neck. There was a gap between the chestplate and the bottom of Namjoon's reinforced mask. It was their best chance.
Shawman dashed toward Namjoon, but he jumped over and hit the back of Shawman's head with the butt of his sword. The move had Shawman going limp. It was such a hard hit that Shawman banged his body off the nearest rack and went flying to the ground. Taehyung held his sword closer to him. Shawman was unconscious. It was on Tae now.
Namjoon struggled to catch his breath. Half of his armor was dented if not broken, and he was stumbling from the intensity of the fight. Taehyung was the same way. He could barely keep himself on his feet. If not for the arrow wound, then for the stamina he was lacking.
"Kim Taehyung," Namjoon said as he clutched his weapon. "A higher-up in the rebellion. You used to protect the ambassador, Jin."
"Don't you dare say his name. He didn't do anything to you!"
"Your rebellion slaughtered hundreds of men. My men."
"Jin never did any of that!" Tae shouted. It still threw him off how he could only hear his voice in one ear. "He was innocent to the violence! You murdered him in cold blood!"
Namjoon nodded. His eyes carried a weight Taehyung wished he could know. There were bags wrinkling the man's face. He seemed slower. Older. Taehyung felt the same way.
"I didn't know that."
"Of course you didn't, you're a monster who murders innocent people," Taehyung said in a cry.
"You're right," Namjoon replied. "I've seen the rebels slaughter my men, and I assumed the same of Jin. I know it means little, but I am truly sorry. I never wish to kill those who haven't wronged me. He was a good man. He fought for a worthy cause, even if I don't agree with it. I understand why you're here to kill me. I understand why you want revenge. May the best man win."
And they clashed. They stormed together with all their might. They were panting and crying. Taehyung fell onto one of the racks, and Namjoon gave him the time needed to get up. Taehyung stumbled around and hit his hip to help him return to focus. A few seconds of silence passed. Taehyung and Namjoon were giving each other a break from the fight, albeit for a moment at most. Then, they returned to battle, ducking and dodging, taking turns exchanging blows.
Shawman had weakened Namjoon, but it was up to Tae to land the final blow. Namjoon grazed Taehyung's cheek and arm. Taehyung shouted and jumped back to counterattack, but it didn't work. Namjoon's sword plunged into Taehyung's shoulder and cut a hole through his flesh and bone. Taehyung screamed, the edges of his vision turning red. But he didn't give up.
Taehyung switched the sword into his good hand and backed up to gain some distance. That was when he passed one of the racks that got knocked over. There were grenades there, likely ammo for the launchers. There was rope on one of the racks behind Namjoon. An idea hit Taehyung's mind. He couldn't beat Namjoon in a fight, he was too strong. If Tae wanted to win, he had to outsmart him.
Taehyung circled Namjoon, and Namjoon followed like a predator. He eyed Taehyung and waited for him to make the first move. Taehyung did. He got the rope and sheathed his sword. Namjoon, confused, held his weapon tighter than before. It was now or never. Taehyung had learned much from his time on ships. After all, he could pilot one well. Now, he had to rely on his knot skills. That sounded pathetic in his mind. His life came down to how well he could tie a knot. He never thought he'd see the day.
With all his strength, Taehyung jumped and rolled between Namjoon's parted legs. The man swiped at Tae and cut off some of his hair. Taehyung wrapped the rope around Namjoon and secured a basic knot no tighter than a shoelace. He kicked Namjoon's knee while he was there, and Namjoon staggered. Taehyung tied the other end of the rope to the rack. It was such a short rope that Namjoon still got a chance to swipe at Tae and cut his nose, but not before Taehyung managed to land his hand on the grenades.
A yelp escaped Tae's throat as he fell back and crawled, but as Namjoon hovered over him, about to get the final blow, he stopped. Not because he wanted to, but because the rope was too short for him to move past the rack. Namjoon whipped his head back to see what he got stuck on. Taehyung got to his feet and hopped out of range. Namjoon met Taehyung's eyes when he realized it.
Taehyung had pulled the pins.
He waved them back and forth with a soft smile on his face. Time slowed, and the chaos around him ceased to exist. Namjoon had always been a monster to Taehyung, but in that moment, he looked like nothing more than a scared guard about to succumb to fate. Not even the strongest could face death and smile. Still, Namjoon chuckled. It was drained of any humor.
"The best man won," he said.
Then, Taehyung jumped back, and the grenades went off. They exploded, sending parts of Namjoon everywhere, including on top of Taehyung. Blood splattered on him. Guts spilled on the floor. Half of Namjoon's face got blown off. Taehyung was just far enough that he didn't get hurt, but his ear rung and his mouth felt dry. While the battle brewed behind him, Taehyung laughed. It was quiet. Small. Meek. But it didn't matter. Taehyung could see Jin in his mind's eye as he stared at Namjoon's corpse. Taehyung won.
"I got you," Taehyung whispered. "I got you, you son of a bitch."

KIM TAEHYUNG 🤤🤤🤤🤤
A/N: This entire story is mostly about Jimin and Y/n (with some Jungkook), but I thought it'd be nice to give Shawman and Taehyung some depth as well. I hope you guys enjoyed that chapter and Taehyung's small arc. Of course, you'll see more of Taehyung, there's still 8 chaps left. I also hope you guys enjoyed hearing more about Shawman's background. I figured it'd make the most sense if he revealed it around Taehyung since they had similar goals. This was a big chap, I hope you liked it. Thanks everyone!
