The Love He Never Felt

His heart stopped the second the railing broke.
The guard turned toward Jimin as if nothing happened. As if he didn't just throw Jimin's lover off the ship. Jimin put an arrow between the man's eyes before running to the edge. He tossed his bow and quiver down, jumping off the ship after her. The water welcomed him as if they were old friends. His fingers adored the sensation of the liquid sliding between his mounds of flesh. His armor weighed down on him, so he took it off to instead search for his woman.
He searched and searched, but it was so dark, he could barely see. The cloudy moonlight was his only source of hope. His heart, which he forgot he had, thumped against his ears until his pulse was overwhelming. He felt sick. Like he would throw up in the ocean. All his nightmares were coming to life. He couldn't find her. He failed. She was gone.
Jimin didn't give up. He swam deeper, glancing around. That was when he faintly made out movement. An arm swaying. Maybe a hand. Then, he identified the body as Y/n. Bubbles floated out of her nose and mouth, Jimin increasing his pace. He went to grab her, wrapping his arm around her and swimming back up. Less than a minute later, they broke the surface, Jimin coughing from how long he was under.
"Y/n, honey," he said, shaking her. Her head fell on his shoulder, but he could tell it was because she went limp, not because she was trying to respond. "Don't worry, I'll get you back."
He swam to the ship, where many of the ropes were cut, allowing him an opportunity to climb back up. They were hanging off the side of the railings, but based on how they cracked earlier, he didn't have much faith they'd hold. Still, they were his only option.
With all his strength, he adjusted Y/n's body so she was over his shoulder. With one arm and both his legs, he hoisted himself up. He climbed the rope, using two hands when he could, but he used the second one to hold Y/n in place. He could hear the ongoing battle. It got louder as he ascended.
He made it back as quickly as he could, falling over the railing with Y/n. He made sure he wrapped his arms around her and took the impact of the fall. He panted, noticing how neither side was winning. They were evenly matched, but they needed Jimin.
He felt for Y/n's pulse. A second passed. Two. Three. Nothing. There was nothing there, and his body stiffened. Her eyes were closed. Her mouth was covered with water. Her lungs were likely clogged.
"Y/n," he whispered, not caring about the fight around him. He knew how to administer CPR, but this would require mouth-to-mouth CPR to help expel the water from her lungs. His trembling hands placed themselves on her, making sure her arms were out of the way. He began the process. If he got his head chopped off, he didn't care. He was Commander Park, so the odds were, no one would cut off his head. But if they did, at least it meant he'd join Y/n.
"Please don't do this," he said, not realizing how hard he was sobbing until the rain no longer masked his tears. He did the compressions until he had to do the mouth-to-mouth, pinching her nostrils and performing it the way the Emperor taught him to. Still, nothing. No rise of her chest. No witty, sarcastic comments. No bright eyes staring at him. No love.
He went through the motions again. He could have sworn he heard Jungkook's voice in the crowd fighting behind him. Jimin ignored it. The rain smashed against him as he continued CPR, doing mouth-to-mouth. Nothing. He went again. The compressions kept going like a clock. She didn't open her gorgeous eyes. He forced himself not to tremble as he did it. Then came the mouth-to-mouth, one more time.
He placed his lips on hers and tried to breathe life back into her. Jimin parted from her, slowly, and this time, water came out of her lips. It was a cough.
Jimin sensed it before it happened; he moved her on her side as she puked. He couldn't tell if it was genuine nausea or the water that entered her lungs. He rubbed her back and encouraged her to let it out. Now that she was safe, he could get back to the fight.
"Don't talk," Jimin said, picking her up. Her eyes were duller than normal, but they were there. She was blinking and breathing. "You might have rib fractures from the CPR. I'm getting you to safety then joining the fight, okay?" Jimin turned, and that was when he learned why he didn't get attacked during the CPR.
Jeon Jungkook.
Jungkook was there, fighting off all the guards that dared come their way. He had a knife in his side, an arrow jutting out of his leg, and all his fingers except his thumb missing on one hand. Jungkook panted, coughing out blood before glancing back at Jimin.
"Go," was all he said, his voice cracking over the single word.
Jimin obeyed, carrying Y/n to the cabin. Jin and Taehyung were inside holding swords. They pointed their weapons at Jimin, but upon seeing Y/n's state, they ushered him in. They shut the door and took her to the bed. It was a tiny cabin that had a bed for formality instead of functionality. There was a desk, too. A single torch was lit and propped against the wall on a wobbly stand.
He placed her on the bed and tucked her in. "She might have fractured ribs. Don't let her come out until it's safe. I need to go help Jungkook."
He went to leave, but Y/n reached out and grabbed his wrist. Jimin turned back in time for her to part her lips. "Don't leave me alone," she whispered.
Jimin knelt and held her hand, kissing the back of it before kissing her forehead. "I'm not. Tae and Jin are here. I'll be right back. I'm gonna go win this fight for us. Focus on recovering." He kissed her forehead one more time. "Everything's gonna be okay, my love. Stay strong for me, okay?"
She agreed albeit reluctantly. Jimin slowly parted from her, motioning for Jin and Tae to take over. They did, Jin inspecting her, particularly her ribs.
Jimin went out to the deck, noticing how the battle was even. There seemed to be the same amount of people on both sides. Jimin joined in, grabbing his bow and quiver from the spot he left it in. Although he was surprised no one took it, he didn't complain. They were too preoccupied with the fight to notice the weapons scattered around. Plenty of lost swords and bows were in his reach. He stuck to his trusty bow with the carving Y/n did all those months ago.
The enemies didn't appear to have many bows due to expecting a close quarters battle. Jimin took advantage of that. He went to the crow's nest and climbed the net leading up to it. He wrapped the rope around his body, tying himself halfway up the wooden pole. He trusted he was secure enough and decided not to look down. Although the wind rushing by and the rain hitting his face distracted him, he managed to load an arrow and fire.
The high ground gave him a massive advantage. Even if the enemies killed all the rebels, they wouldn't be able to overpower Jimin. He fired over and over again. He downed one. Two. Five. Ten. They fell one after another until there were none left, and Jimin had three arrows to spare.
He untied himself and went back down. There were five survivors, including Jungkook. Four rebels, one woman and three men, sat on the blood-covered deck and didn't say a word. Jungkook seemed too injured to speak. He had one hand left, really. His other hand had no fingers on it except his thumb. The stubs were all different lengths. One was so long it only cut off a little after his mid-knuckle while another was down to the rest of his hand.
"Jungkook, you need medical attention now," Jimin said, Jungkook swaying on his feet. He didn't seem to hear Jimin's words. "Jungkook, let's get you to Jin. Come on, this way."
Jimin put his bow over his shoulder and grabbed Jungkook. Jungkook flinched and almost fell over. Jimin guided him to the cabin, bringing him inside. As soon as Jin and Tae saw him, their jaws dropped.
"Any chance we can fix this?" Jimin asked, pointing to Jungkook's hand.
"I'll do my best, but Topside didn't prepare me for injuries of this extent. We need to get to Moros. They'll have more supplies," Jin said.
"I'll pilot. Jimin, keep Y/n occupied. Jin, help Jungkook," Tae said, rushing off to get them to Mount Moros.
Y/n hyperventilated, but not from her potential injuries. She stared at Jungkook with jumping eyes. Jimin picked her up so Jin and Jungkook could use the bed, Jungkook plopping down on it as soon as Jimin backed up. Although outside wasn't in a much better state, he took her up to where Tae was. He manned the giant wheel, spinning it and putting them on course for Moros.
"There's a storm," she said with a hiccup. "Will there be rogue waves?"
Taehyung's eyes said yes, but his smile was so reassuring, even Jimin calmed down. "I don't see any."
"The whole point of rogue waves is that you don't see them coming," Y/n insisted, Tae shaking her off.
Taehyung kept going, and Jimin had to admit the trip was rocky. They navigated around their attackers: the Emperor's men. It was a large ship with cannons, but they never used them on the rebels. Jimin knew it was because they wanted Jimin and Y/n alive. They were tracking the rebellion, which meant it was only a matter of time until Flerry got burned to the ground.
Y/n clung to Jimin, and he held her tighter. Her trembling form terrified him, so he looked to Tae for help. The pilot frowned before clearing his throat.
"Did I ever tell you about the time Jin and I started a scamming business to make extra cash?" Tae asked, Y/n managing to loosen at that. He took her silence as a no. "We told customers we had real Emperor coins, back when they made those. We actually just took rocks and painted them with my kits. We went into the woods and found the best rocks we could, then painted them the same colors as the coins. Those stupid coins were worth a fortune. You remember those, Parkie?"
Jimin snorted at the nickname. "Unfortunately. Only the Emperor and his guards were allowed to have them. They paid for special services within the castle and the City, like buying Leekas and rare meats. I'm sure your customers would've killed for those coins."
"They wanted to. We charged them more than we probably should have. We disguised ourselves every time we set up shop, and moved towns after. Changed names and stories so no one would track us. We didn't want someone to report us to the Emperor for fraud. As much as New Theon is in shambles, the Emperor takes fraud seriously."
"But not murder, robbery, and assault. He doesn't really care about the laws his father set in place," Jimin said, shaking his head. "I don't know why we bother with a set of laws if he only upholds a certain amount of them. He doesn't care about half of them at this rate. It isn't like we have a police force, just guards to kill whoever they want. No punishment for them."
Y/n kept trembling in his arms, Jimin bouncing her a bit as if that'd keep her calm. She seemed cold. Her skin was covered in goosebumps, her lower lip quivering.
Jimin knelt, setting her down and taking off his overcoat. He put it on her instead. "How's that?" he asked, helping her put it on. She nodded, whispering a thanks.
The storm picked up, causing Jimin to shiver. The chill hit his body. He had been so used to the heat that he didn't expect such a sudden drop in temperature. They weren't too far from Mount Moros, but they were far enough that Jimin knew he'd be in for a cold ride.
All he could do was wait.

Mount Moros was beautiful.
After the rain slowed and Jungkook got patched up, they arrived at Mount Moros. They were on the surface, glancing over the rocky terrain. Mount Moros wasn't very wide, but it was tall with pathways leading all the way up the mountain. The buildings reflected that; they were curved to match the shape of the mountain. Some houses were normal while others had complex structures. Some were designed like stars and cylinders to fit the unpredictable slopes.
The mountain itself ranged so high Jimin almost pissed himself just looking at it. There was a watchtower on the top that seemed as though it was home to higher-ups. There was a flag waving off it, but Jimin couldn't see the colors from his position.
He had Y/n in his arms. She was still in shock from the water, and she had bruised ribs. Luckily they weren't fractured, but not a pretty injury nonetheless.
"We're here, honey," he whispered, kissing the top of her head. She leaned into his touch but didn't answer.
They moved away from the shore and came closer to the pathway that led up toward the buildings. Then, they were stopped by a group of guards. They were wearing basic attire, no armor or helmets. Still, they had swords. On the mountain itself there were archers. They peeked out from the rocks and had arrows pointed at Commander Park in particular. He focused on holding Y/n, shifting so his back would take the fire instead of her if it came down to it.
"We're not here to harm you. Commander Shawman offered the rebellion sanctuary. We were attacked on the way here, we need medical help," Jimin said, but no one budged. Fantastic: he had to use his trap card. "My name is Commander Park Jimin of the Emperor's guard, and I met with Commander Shawman in the City to discuss our relationship moving forward. Please bring Shawman down so we can talk. He offered to bring us to Mount Moros, but due to the Emperor meddling with our business, we couldn't get here with him. Please, just let us talk to him-"
"Commander Park, it's great to see you again," the voice of Commander Shawman said. He stepped down the path, coming into view. He had basic clothes on like the rest of them. It was strange how they were so uniform. Although it made sense; after all, the rebellion didn't have special wardrobe for their higher-ups. Jimin had armor from the Emperor, but otherwise, he was just as boring as the rest of them. Not that it mattered; he took off the armor when he rescued Y/n. So much for being the Emperor's puppet.
"And you, sir. Our intelligence expert is in critical condition. Do you have supplies to help him?"
"We do. Bring him out."
Jimin turned to the few surviving rebels behind him, and one of them, the only female survivor, went to go fetch Jin, Tae, and Jungkook, who still hid in the cabin. Jimin didn't want to risk them on the off chance Moros opened fire. Seeing as Jungkook was unconscious and Y/n was suffering from shock, Jimin was their only leader at the moment.
He shifted his attention back to Shawman. "We believe our hometown is in danger. If possible, we'd like to move the rebellion living there over to Mount Moros. We'll still have outposts in New Theon itself, but our town needs a new location before it's too late."
"However many need to stay here, they can. Come, I'll show you our training grounds," Commander Shawman said. Just like that, the guards lowered their weapons and went back to their daily schedules.
Jimin followed Shawman through the curve of the mountain. His legs burned thanks to how uphill it was, but it was worth it when they reached the training grounds near the top of the giant mountain. It was a large building with the sole purpose of being used for sparring and training. There were Moros residents inside with bandages around their hands. There were some in the corner practicing their archery skills. Then there were others hitting targets with swords.
The floor itself was bouncy, like it was made up of a soft wool. It was white, the walls padded with the same substance while the ceiling was wooden. There were torches to light the place up, but the primary source of light was the back wall, which had a giant, thick window allowing moonlight to pour in.
"It's made of a rare mineral only found at the tip of the mountain," Commander Shawman said when he noticed Jimin staring at it. "It's not an ordinary glass. It's smelted from a hard rock. If you want it to crack, you'd need a bomb."
"Arrows don't do anything?"
"Try it for yourself."
Jimin set Y/n down in one of the chairs near the double doors. It was like a waiting area, or a resting station. He couldn't tell. He kissed her head before going to the back where the archers were. They gave him a glare, but Jimin used his own bow instead of taking one of theirs. Just to be a petty asshole, he took a whole new quiver from their pile and stared at them while he did it.
He replaced his quiver with the new one, grabbing an arrow and pointing it at the glass. When he fired, the tip bounced off the material and plopped to the ground. It fell as if it died, going limp and not bothering with ricocheting.
Commander Shawman approached while Jimin dropped his jaw. "That's incredible. You can train an entire army in here."
"That's the goal. We're planning a siege on the castle. We'd love to make you part of the plan, Commander Park," Shawman said, Jimin dipping his head.
"I'd love that-" He broke off when he noticed one of the archers. "Woah woah, hang on, your arm is way too stiff." He went over to her, instructing her on how to do it the right way. She ended up hitting the target in the chest. Then, the man next to her asked for help. And then the next, and the next. Soon enough, Jimin found himself teaching all twelve archers. They started off barely able to hit the targets in the arm. By the end, they were consistently getting chest shots.
"Fascinating," Commander Shawman said, Jimin jumping at the sudden intrusion. "We've always struggled with archery, but we know it's a necessary skill if we're going to siege the castle."
"I was taught how to use every weapon in New Theon. The Emperor insisted."
"Then we're lucky to have you on our side. Please, don't let me stop you. Go ahead and check out the rest of the room."
Jimin did. He ended up sparring three people. He laughed throughout it all. Every contestant who dared oppose him ended up losing the spar in less than thirty seconds. He taught them basic combat, showing them martial arts they hadn't considered before. Although learning these skills would take much longer than a day, it was a start. Moros already looked more prepared.
Then, he went to the swordsmen and taught them new techniques. He used his sword to demonstrate, and he ended up using so much force that he accidentally cut off one of the target's heads.
Two hours passed by the time he felt tired enough to stop. His body was soaked in sweat. He had to take off half his clothes in order to compensate. He was left in a thin undershirt and matching thin pants, his boots discarded and thrown off to the side as his bare feet hung out.
"Commander, thank you for your help today. You know more than I thought," Commander Shawman said.
"I've trained all my life." Jimin paused to suck in a breath. "But I don't think I've ever done it like this before. They hated me at first, now they're kissing the very ground I walk on."
"To be fair to them, you're known as the Reaper. Rumors say you killed Angelica."
"I didn't, the Emperor did."
"I figured, but you know how people like to talk," Shawman said with a sigh. "Thank you. I'll show you one of our empty homes. We'll give you the best."
"Can Y/n stay with me?"
"Of course."
Jimin grinned. "Follow-up question: do you have a sheet cleaning service?"
"Alright Commander, you're way too comfortable. Let's dial it down a bit."
Jimin chuckled. "Understood, sir. I'm ready now."
Jimin ended up getting his clothes and shoes and going back to Y/n, who hadn't moved from her spot since he put her down there. He picked her up, and with Shawman, they went to find their potential home. Shawman led them further up the mountain, where a small home was. It was shaped like a square, part of it pressed against the snowy side of the mountain. Up this high, his lungs were fighting to keep him healthy. Despite that, he had to admit it was beautiful, even if he was shitting his pants.
They went inside and noticed the same glass from the training area. There was a curve, almost like a half-circle. It made up the outer wall of the living room. It was the nicest room Jimin had ever seen. There was a cobblestone fireplace with an actual couch across from it, and a wooden table in between it. The floors were polished wood with a fluffy rug placed underneath the table and couch. The window showed off the ocean and the mountain. From their spot, they could see almost all the homes and buildings Mount Moros had to offer. Since it was dark, they could see all the torch light glowing and illuminating the mountain. If it wasn't so high, Jimin would be ecstatic.
Commander Shawman left them, and Jimin didn't know where to start. The living room alone was giant. He kicked off his shoes and set Y/n down on the couch. She smiled at him as he kissed her forehead.
"It's beautiful here, don't you think?" he asked in a murmur.
"Can I be dramatic?"
"Your best friend is Jungkook, so I wouldn't expect anything less."
She snickered. "I can imagine spending the rest of my life here."
"Really? Here?"
"Look around," she said, stretching her arms out. "This is just the living room. It's bigger than Kastor's house. The view is terrifying, but I'm sure we can get curtains."
Jimin wanted to join in on the drama, so he let out a heavy sigh. "And there's a rug. We can have sex there, and on the couch, and near the window, and near the door-"
"Jimin!"
He laughed with her, picking her back up. This time, he picked her up by the thighs and carried her to the bedroom. It was larger than their bedroom at home. Twice as large, actually. It had silk sheets and a scarlet theme that made the room seem elegant and mature. The mattress was thick and more comfortable than anything Jimin had slept on before. There was a smaller window with a little table set up, almost as if it was there for breakfast dates. Huh. Jimin had never been on a formal date.
"Hey honey?" he asked as he put her down on the bed. His toes welcomed the carpeted floors. Back in Flerry, they had only just recently installed carpets. That was thanks to Jimin hunting so much.
"What is it?"
"Have you ever been on a date?"
"Is this your way of asking me out?" she said with a sly smile.
"Maybe. But seriously, have you?"
"I don't think so. I've never been asked out on one."
He pecked her lips and took off her shoes, massaging her feet for a moment. "Then I'll ask you out. Romantically, of course. I'm not settling for anything less."
"Always the charmer."
"We Park's pride ourselves on it."
He noticed there was a closet that already had clothes in it. He could tell the clothes were meant for a man, but he was sure she wouldn't mind. Together, they got changed, and Jimin noticed the bandages on her ribs. Jin did a good job patching her up, but he hated seeing her like that. Granted, it was technically his fault, but she wouldn't be alive without it. And that had him halting.
Y/n died.
He froze while staring out the tiny window in the corner of the room. His bare feet didn't register the soft, fluffy carpet beneath him. He didn't register the rich, honey-like smell floating through the air thanks to the scented torches they were using as lights. He barely registered her soft, warm arms wrapping around him.
"What's wrong?" she asked, kissing his shoulder.
"Nothing," he said instead, giving her a forced smile. "I'm just thinking about everything. I need to take my mind off things."
"We haven't explored the kitchen or bathroom yet. Let's go."
He agreed, and they went inside the bathroom to find tiled black and white floors. They were smooth, welcoming his feet. The mirror showed the two of them attached by the hip, Y/n all cuddled up against him. It was a standard bathroom, but Y/n's eyes were jumping either way.
"Holy shit, a toilet!"
"I never thought I'd hear that sentence in my life," Jimin mumbled, Y/n grinning and bouncing up and down. In the castle, they had bathrooms, but in Flerry, they didn't have much. They had the woods, that was about it. Jimin got used to it. However, having a bathroom was standard for him. For Y/n, this was insane.
There was a toilet and a sink. And, most importantly, a bathtub. There was a water bucket next to it. So the bathtub itself wasn't hooked up to a water line, but the sink was. Jimin used the sink and found it had hot water, and Y/n was overjoyed at that. He decided to fill up the tub and help her out of her new clothes. Soon enough, they were in the water. Jimin leaned back just as Y/n came over, pressing her back against his chest.
He wrapped his arms around her stomach and kissed the top of her head. "Still think you want to spend the rest of your life here?"
"This is incredible. I can't believe I get to experience this before New Theon's free. I thought this shit was only at the castle," she said, awe in her tone. It made him grin.
"And think about all the sex we can have-"
"I'm starting to think you want to fuck me in a bathtub."
"I'm always open to trying new things," he said with a chuckle, kissing her cheek and rocking her back and forth. Eventually, they had to get clean. They relied on the lakes in the forest before. Now, they had a contained space with soap. He wondered where he could get more, and what the currency system was like here. He'd ask Shawman about it later. For now, he was glad he had a home. A real one. Y/n was right; this was the perfect place to start a new life. A life away from the Emperor.
"It looks like you had fun today," she said.
"I did, and that's what scares me. Part of me doesn't even want to fight in the war anymore. What if we just moved here and forgot about it?"
"The Emperor wants Moros. Eventually we'll have to fight."
He slumped his shoulders. "Maybe we can go to the Islands?"
"Our ship barely made it here."
"I thought you were the optimistic one."
She chuckled and turned back to peck his lips. "Jimin, I want nothing more than to settle down with you. We'll get there, I promise. I can't abandon the war. As nice as it is to dream, I can't let my friends down. I can't let New Theon down."
"I agree, I just wanted to dream for a minute."
Her eyes softened. It almost looked like she was about to cry. "Oh baby boy, come here." Although surprised by the nickname, he agreed. She hugged him and stroked his damp hair. "Let's dream. What do you want to do, hm?"
He paused. "Have a lot of sex?"
She didn't bother with sighing. "You're an interesting man, Jimin."
"I know."
She kept hugging him and rocking him back and forth. They stayed like that until they decided to clean each other and get dried off. Soon enough, they were cuddled up in bed, naked. They had sex and went a few rounds before exhaustion overtook them. He made sure to be extra careful due to her ribs.
They stayed with each other, Jimin's hands roaming her body. She kept tracing her finger across his tattoo. It was almost like therapy. No Topside therapist gave him the healing Y/n did. She had a calming nature to her that had him relaxing. It had him feeling vulnerable.
"My mother used to sing to me," he whispered, her nodding against him. "She had the most beautiful voice. Every time she sung, I felt so calm. And now, I feel calm whenever I'm around you."
"Did you just compare me to your mother?"
He laughed, his eyes crinkling. "I meant I don't feel calm around many people. Two people, and one of them is dead." He pulled back so he could see her face. "So let's spend the rest of our life together here."
She placed her hands on his cheeks. "Okay."
He kissed her, and they ended up tangled together on their bed. They didn't have sex again, but they were close to it. He had to force himself to pull away.
"I changed my mind," she said, Jimin tilting his head at that. "Maybe you are attractive enough. Maybe I will push kids out of my body for you."
He threw his head back and laughed, coming back down to peck her lips. "You're the cutest little thing, princess."
"I can't tell if that was hot or not."
"Everything I do is hot."
"I hate you," she said with a huff. Ah, her classic line. He'd never get tired of hearing it.
"You love me. You admitted it first, not me."
"Okay but you ran into an active shooting to save my ass, I think you said it with your actions before I ever said it with words."
Well, he couldn't argue with that. He kissed her to distract her. It worked, and they ended up kissing while rain tapped against their window. The torches died down, and Jimin was far too lazy to get up and reignite them. A few minutes later, they were left in the dark with their arms wrapped around each other.
"Hey Jimin?" she asked, him nodding. "You looked really happy today. I hope you know I'm proud of you."
He smiled. "I know. I'm proud of you too. Today I felt... at peace. Training all those people made me feel alive."
"Is that what you want to do?"
The question didn't process in his mind. It didn't hit him. What did he want? It didn't occur to him that he had a chance at life now. Now, he could discover who he was. He could discover who Park Jimin would have been if the Emperor didn't steal him from a good, healthy life.
"Fighting doesn't have to be bad," he murmured, burying himself against her body. He rubbed his cheek across hers on his way to her shoulder, his hand getting lost in her hair. "It doesn't have to cause harm. Maybe I can be a teacher. I can teach the next generation how to fight. Maybe that's who Park Jimin is."
"That sounds just like you. You're not the bad guy you think you are. You're a healer."
"I'm no healer, even if I'm not a bad guy."
She pulled back and met his eyes. "But you've healed me."
He knit his brows together. "How? I didn't do anything."
"I had nothing to fight for except the idea of freedom. I never stopped to consider what freedom actually meant, but you..." She trailed off and grabbed his hands, kissing them. "I'm fighting for you. For our life together. For your freedom, you and your brother. I have a reason to fight. A reason to win."
He kept his arms around her. "Y/n?"
"Yeah?" her soft tone asked, Jimin smiling.
"I love you."
She broke out into a grin, and in that moment, he knew he'd never get tired of saying it. He'd never get tired of knowing what love meant for the first time since his parents died.
"I love you too."
"You said it first," he mumbled, not noticing he was pouting until she placed her thumb on his lower lip.
"You're never letting me live that down, are you?"
His eyes lit up. "Does it annoy you?"
She sighed. "I really don't understand why my heart wants you."
"Big dick, nice ass, tragic past," he said with a toothy grin.
"I hate you."
They went back to cuddling after that. She pressed her head against his chest. He rested his chin on the top of her head. They explored each other's bodies with their hands. It was euphoric. He had never felt such intimacy.
"Jimin," she whispered. He adored the way her breath reached out and touched him, giving his skin a warmth he didn't know he needed. "I really think we should start a new life here. You can be a teacher, I can make the weapons you use to help the next generation. We'll be a team. How does that sound?"
It sounded like heaven. It sounded like the peaceful life he had always dreamed of. He would have his dream woman, a dream job, and freedom. He'd get to live with his brother and have Kastor next door. Tae and Jin would stay nearby, and they could meet up for dinner where Jimin would make fun of Jin's cooking skills. Deep down, Jimin loved anything Jin cooked. His food tasted like home. This could be home. So, he smiled.
"Let's do it."
