Bird In A Cage

I want to fly away
These iron bars keep me trapped
The cold metal pins my soul and makes me groan
It's only dark inside this cage, where is the light?

I thrash about, seeking what I yearn
For the door to open so I may go free
The hand that comes in is dark and angry
It hurts me and torments me

When will this end?
I cry out for freedom from these shackles
I just want to spread my wings and fly away

But then You come in
Light penetrates the dark coils around me,
Your hand is gentle and warm
You set me free and I fly away to a better place
