Chapter 11: Meeting Warriors
As we moved down an aisle, we saw a group of people standing in a straight line, facing the right.
First, Rhiannon introduced me to a young boy who was a little big built but a little shorter than Eva and I. He had six pack abs. When I saw him flex his muscles, I was truly spellbound. This guy must be really strong. I thought.
"Eva and Cal, meet Grifford. He's the best wrestler in the Councillium. He'll do his best to protect the two of you." Rhiannon said and Grifford nodded as we moved towards another person.
We saw a tall girl. She had curly hair, which was violet in color and violet eyes. She wore a short purple and white frock. She looked beautiful. "Meet Violet. She's a pro in spying. She can turn herself into a bird and spy on the enemy." Rhiannon said. "Hi!" Violet said, excitedly but soon turned herself into a violet colored bird when she saw Rhiannon glaring at her.
Eva and I waved back to her quietly as we walked further.
"Meet Lukey. He's tiny but he is one great sword fighter! He's a pride to Bellendis." Rhiannon said as she pointed to a rabbit. Yes, he was a standing rabbit.
"Awww! He's so cute!" Eva said and tried to pat him when he held her hand.
"No no. I'm a fighter not a stupid rabbit! And my name is not Lukey. It's Luke! And my condition is all because of that coward Alaric!" Luke emphasized.
"Luke was one of the ministers of Alaric's kingdom but secretly helped us in planning against him. When Alaric found out, he turned him into a rabbit and banished him. We found him and hid him. Since then he has sworn to defeat Alaric and bring back peace into Bellendis."
"Wow. That's very brave of you Lukey. Sorry. I mean Luke." I said, quickly correcting my mistake.
"He seems so much like the rabbit in Alice in wonderland. Only difference is that he doesn't wear spectacles." I said and Eva started laughing loudly. "Shh!"
I whispered to Eva. "More like the one in Rise Of The Guardians?" Eva asked, jokingly.
"Maybe." I replied, curbing my laughter.
Just then a long bearded tall man came running towards Rhiannon. "Lady Rhiannon!! I have news! Terrible news!" He exclaimed, panting.
"What's the matter Yuri? What's wrong?" Rhiannon asked.
"It's Alaric! He found our hideout. He's bringing his troops to fight us!" He said.
"What? But we were supposed to attack him in two days. He wasn't even supposed to know about it!" I exclaimed.
Rhiannon looked at Eva and I and asked "Why did you do this?"
"What? I don't know what your talking about." Eva said.
"Seriously? Now don't tell me that you don't know that you're pendents glow when you recite the prophecy which also makes Alaric's sword glow and..."
"Oh no no. We didn't recite the prophecy since we came here." Eva said.
"Then who did?" Rhiannon asked.
"I did."said a blond haired girl, coming in front of the crowd that had formed.
"You? Why would you do that Fleur?"
"To take revenge. It's because of your pointless fights with Alaric that I lost my father. Years ago, my father died fighting the war which you had provoked. You assured everyone victory. You said that it would be the last battle we would fight and that we would capture Alaric at last. You swore to protect every single soldier and you failed. You are responsible for his death. I always hated Alaric. But you took away the only person I had. So I hate you more. How many fake promises are you going to make? The fact is that we can never kill Alaric. The more we fight the more people die. I can't see that anymore. Why can't we just accept him as our king?" Fleur exclaimed, tears rolling down her eyes.
"I treated you like my own daughter and you betrayed me?" Rhiannon asked.
"What else would I have done? You were calling for more troops of soldiers tomorrow. So I secretly read out the prophecy from the letter kept in Callidora's wardrobe so that Alaric could come here himself. "
Rhiannon ordered, " guards! Take her away at once and lock her up in her room!"
"You think if you do that you'll stop me? You are going down Rhiannon. The whole Pura Councillium is going down. This will be the end of you and your stupid promises that kills people. You are the true murderer Rhiannon, not Alaric!" She shouted at the top of her voice as the gaurds pulled her away."
We all looked at each other, puzzled about what our next move was going to be. It was a long silence.
"Great. That's really great! Our plan is ruined even before it started. Now, Alaric's going to invade the Councillium and kill everyone." Rhiannon sighed, after a long pause.
"Isn't there any way we can save ourselves?" I asked.
"No. Our soldiers are going to reach here in two days and there's no way we can win alone. " Rhiannon said.
"What do we do now?" Violet asked.
"We still fight them. If not in two days, then now. We are ready."
Grifford said.
"What? Are you out of your mind?" Luke asked.
"We'll never be able to win. Half our soldiers haven't reached here yet." Rhiannon said.
"We can divert Alaric's attention as long as we can." Eva suggested.
"How are we going to do that?" Rhiannon asked.
"Violet, Luke, Eva and I will be on it." I said confidently. "Come on guys." The four of us had a quick hurdle where we discussed our plan. After that, I assured Rhiannon that we'll handle the situation with patience and intelligence.
"Wait." Rhiannon called after us as we moved. "Someone wants to talk to you." She said and took out something from her pocket. It looked like a small circular box. She opened it and threw it on the floor at once. Some smoke spread but it cleared within seconds. I saw..I saw... "Grandma?" I asked in surprise.
"Surprise darling!" She replied. I ran to hug her but as I did, I felt myself going right through her. "I don't understand." I began. "It's a hologram. You can't touch her. " Rhiannon completed.
"Yes, Cal. Oh my, look at the two of you, ready for battle. I'm proud of you. You both look like warriors already." Grandma said.
"They are already warriors. Thank you for sending them." Rhiannon said, praising us.
"Thank you for guiding them." Grandma replied.
"It's a pleasure ma'am." Rhiannon answered.
"Grandma, I really miss you. I really wanna come home. I miss mom's food and dad's poor jokes." I said, tears rolling down my cheeks.
"I miss you too darling. You both are brave kids. Just hold on a little longer and you'll be able to come home just when you defeat Alaric." Grandma replied, controlling her tears.
"Does my mom and dad miss me? Are they worried?" Eva asked.
"Your mom and dad miss you darling. Don't worry about them. They think that you've gone for a tour." Grandma replied.
"Thanks grandma. I mean Mrs. Flinn." Eva said.
"You can call me grandma if you wish. Anyways, I heard about the random attack. All I want you to know is that no matter what happens, stay together. Only then, things will be under control." Grandma warned.
"Okay grandma." I said. "But I'm scared. I don't know why. I haven't killed anyone before. There are going to be so many soldiers I'll have to kill." I said.
"You know, I've always kept an eye on every one of your trainings, without you noticing me. I have seen your capabilities. Both of you are ready now. So, don't you dare underestimate yourselves. You can do it. Have faith in each other." Grandma advised.
"Thanks grandma." Eva and I said together.
Just then Yuri warned "I'm sorry to have interrupted this sweet conversation but we really have to move. Alaric's troop is coming closer and closer every minute. It's now or never."
"Okay then. Looks like this is it. All the best. I'm sure my children will attain victory. Remember, the pendents also--" Grandma tried completing but she vanished as Rhiannon closed the box and kept it back. " I'm sorry, but we really have to go."
I sighed as I walked across the room with Evanthia. I'm sure grandma wanted to say something else but couldn't complete it.
