Chapter Two

•Chapter Two {Troubles}•

Ashley's POV~

A week passed, and the guys were leaving for tour. I got lucky and my boss let me come in a couple hours late, so I could see Joey before they left.

I stood at the bus, with the wives and Alan's girls.

"Bye baby. I love you." He smiled.

"I love you too." I said back. I was getting ready to kiss him, but my phone went off before. I answer, knowing it was Hotch. {M-Ashley; H-Hotchner}

M- Hello?

H- Come in as soon as you can.

M- Alright? Is everything okay?

H- We have a case in Dayton, Ohio.

M- Dayton, Ohio?

H- That's right.

M- Crap. I'll be there soon.

H- Alright.

And with that he hung up. I gave Joey a saddened look. I sighed, "It's in Dayton."

"What!?" He asks.

I sighed again, "Yeah. I'll call you when I get there. And I'll make sure that your parents are okay."

"Okay. Be safe. I love you." He smiled.

"I will. I love you too." I said, kissing him. I watch him get on the bus, and the bus pull out.

I sighed heavily, and started for my car.

"Good luck!" The girls called.

I turned around and waved, "Thanks."

I started for my car again, and head for the office. Making it there in minutes. Meeting the team, in the briefing room.

"Ashley, you're here!" Garcia cheered.

"Yeah. What do we know?"

"Couples in their fifties." She informed.

"Oh my. Lord. Are they indentfied?" I asked, almost pacing around the room.

"No. Not yet, we're working on it." Morgan said.

"Crap." I muttered.

"Everything okay?" Emily asked.

"I don't know. Joey's parents live in Dayton, and they're in their fifties." I shrugged.

"Will this affect the job?" Hotch asked, with his usual emotionless face.

"Uh, no. It shouldn't. I'm sorry." I said as I sat down, and payed attention to Garcia.

"They were shot, execution style." Garcia informed, pointing at the screen.

"No torture?" I questioned, quirking an eyebrow.

"Nope, nada, none." Garcia shook her head.

"Up in five." Hotch demanded. Everyone got up and left, going to retrieve their bags. Luckily, I already had mine.

I stayed at the table, unable to move. I was frozen, if this was Joey's parents, I didn't what I was going to do. I had to have been out of it for a minute maybe.

Garcia waved her hand in face, "Hello? Earth to Ashley."

"I'm sorry. What?" I asked.

"Are you okay?" She questioned softly.

"If this is Joey's parents, I don't know what I'm going to tell him." I admitted.

"Hey. It might not be them." She reassured, placing a hand on my shoulder.

"No. But it means that they're possible victims." I sighed.

"Hey, but I know this team better than anyone. They're good, you will stop it before it happens." She smiled. "Now, you might wanna get on the plane."

"Thanks Garcia. You're amazing." I grinned, hugging her quickly.

"Thanks doll. Call me if you need anything." She offered.

"Thanks again." I said, walking out. Just a couple minutes later, I met the team on the plane, getting looks from everyone. "What?"

"Where were you?" Hotch asked, getting a hint of anger in his tone.

"Sorry. Garcia was giving me a pep-talk. I kind of needed it." I admitted shyly.

"You're getting away with it this time. It won't slide next time." He lectured.

"Yes sir." I muttered. I sat down next to Emily, who has became a good friend.

"You seem really stressed." Morgan noted.

"Yeah. A little. If it is my in-laws, I have no idea how I'm going to tell my husband." I sighed. "I don't want it to be them."

"It might not be them. There's alot of people in Dayton." Morgan assured.

"That's what Garcia said. But, it makes them a possible target." I said.

"If this affects your job performance, I will pull you off the case, understand?" Hotch stated, very sternly. It almost scares me.

"Uh, yes sir." I stuttered.

"Come on, Hotch. Give her a break. It's her family." Morgan defended me, Hotch ignored him.

"After the, uh, case, could I see them. You know, make sure they're okay?" I asked.

"Afterwards." Hotch clarified.

"Thank you." I smiled.

*********

Once we got to Dayton, Hotch gave us directions. Spencer, JJ, and I went to the station.

We started with the geography profile. Spencer must've noticed me pacing, I was slightly nervous. Spencer placed a hand on my shoulder and looked me in the eye, "Hey, calm down. You're gonna make yourself faint."

"I'm sorry. I'm really nervous." I admitted, once again.

"Why don't you take a five minute break. Get some coffee, call your husband. Just take a breather." He suggested.

I hugged him, "Thanks Spencer. For being so understanding."

"No problem. Now go." He shooed. I left the room and walked towards the restroom. I grabbed my phone and quickly dialed Joey's number.

J- "Baby, are you okay?"

M- "Not really. I'm freaking out."

J- "Hey calm down. Shh."

M- "Guh, I wish you were here."

J- "Hey, shhh. What do you know?"

M- "Just couples in their fifties. We don't know the identities."

J- "Oh, my."

M- "I know. I really wish you were."

J- "I wish I was too. It'll be okay."

M- "Thanks baby. Look, my five minutes are almost up. If I get any time, I'll call you again

J- "Okay, bye baby. I love you."

M- "I love you too. Thank you."

I hung up and put my phone in my back pocket. I went to the sinks and splashed a little water on my face before walking back to our makeshift office.

"Feeling better?" JJ asked, smiling slightly.

"Yeah. A little bit." I nodded, "I think that I can work now. Maybe I just needed to hear his voice."

"It helps. I feel the same way when there are cases involving children." JJ admitted.

"Oh. Wow." I sighed.

"Well, I have the geographical profile done." Spencer stated.

JJ smiled, "Thanks Spence."

"Yeah." He responded. A ring went off, and Spencer fumbled for his phone. "It's Hotch. They found the indenty of the two couples."

"Who?" I asked, slightly whining as I became impatient.

"Brigham and Edith Yehush. David and Rose Emik." Spencer answered. I let out a breath, I didn't know I was holding in. I almost collapsed in excitement. I sent Joey a quick text, letting him know it wasn't his parents.

"It's okay." I muttered to myself. "Oh, lord. We have to talk to next of kin."

"You and Spence go. I'll stay here and talk to Hotch." JJ said.

"Alright. I'm driving." I smiled. I grab my keys, and head for the SUV. Spencer follows me. He gets in and I turn on the car, and Anthem Lights play quietly in the background.

"Is this the band?" Spencer asked.

"Yeah. This is one of my favorites. Help You Stand." I nodded as I turned the volume up.

"It's good." He smiled. "You must be proud of him."

"I am. All four of them. They're my family. Being the only child isn't that easy. Then after I graduated, my parents moved, and I haven't heard from them." I shrugged, "They've become my family."

"I feel you. My mother lives on the other side of the country." He mumbled.

"Why don't you visit her, after the case. You deserve a break to see your family." I suggested.

"I just might do that. Thanks Ash." He smiled, "Is it okay if I call you Ash?"

"I don't mind. Caleb calls me that, a lot of people do." I laughed, "I actually like it when people call me Ash. It doesn't sound so feminine."

"You don't want others to think that you can't do something, because you're a female." Spencer stated, reading through my mind.

"That's actually correct. You really are a genius." I teased.

"Thanks. It's actually common with most women doing a stereotypical male job." He laughed, reciting some random fact. Spencer Reid just became my new best friend.

I know there are probably many mistakes, but I haven't seen Season 11 of Criminal Minds, so I don't know the details. And for the sake of the story Emily Prentiss is here. I really loved Emily, great role model, tbh.

For a certain person, I decided to publish this early, cause why not?
