Chapter Twenty
Ashley's POV*
The guys just kind of gave me some space. I knew Spencer took Gideon's death really hard. I did too, I just tried not to show it. Gideon was a friend and a mentor.
They went about their business, except Spencer. He sat down with me.
"I know how you feel." He whispers. I sigh, not wanting to hear it. I've heard it to many times. I've lost to many people close to me. That's why I joined the FBI, to bring justice.
"Why? Why did it happen?" I huff.
"I don't know. I really don't." Spencer sighs.
I crack a small smile, "Wow. For once the Doctor doesn't know something."
"Wow Ash." Spencer shakes his head.
"But seriously. He was the person who inspired me to join. He was such a great person. I had so many memories with him. His seminars." I sigh.
"He was a great person." He nods.
I lay my head on the back of the couch. I've kept this in too long. With every death I've experienced, I try not to show it. There are times where I do, but I hate doing it. Joey walked over and leaned against the arm of the couch. "I'll let you guys talk." Spencer says.
"Thank you." I nod. Spencer got up and started talking to the other guys. Joey sat down with me and I leaned my head on his shoulder.
"What's up baby?" He asks.
"Gideon. Just hearing his name after so long. He was my mentor. A friend. An inspiration." I explain, "He was a good person. Someone who actually changed the country. Yet, he barely got any recognition and someone took his life."
"It's okay baby. He's in a safer place now. You know that." Joey whispers.
"I do know that. But why? Why was such a great man taken? He saved lives. Put away evil. He freaking created the BAU, who uses science to put away killers." I sigh.
"Hey, listen. God helped him create the team. God showed him the light. Now He is showing others. Think about it like that. Gideon changed the world." Joey says, lacing our fingers together.
I sigh and lay my head back on his shoulder. Trying to keep the tears away. Eventually they came. So, Joey pulled me onto his lap and just let me cry into his chest. This is the first time I've ever really cried about Gideon's death, but just bottling it seemed easier and it didn't bother anyone. Especially since it was my problem. Eventually my cries turned into sobs. Rarely did Gideon ever come to Nashville, but when he did, he always paid me a visit.
I lifted my head and wiped my tears. I hated this, to be honest. Here I am, a crying mess, scared for my life as well as my family's lives.
"Hey baby. It's gonna be okay. It takes time." He whispers, "You're like a boomerang."
I gave a small smile, "Really? You had to use your own song?"
He shrugs, "Eh, it works."
"I love you." I whisper.
"I love you too." He smiles.
I lent in to kiss him quickly, but he refused to pull away. It quickly turned into a make out session. Which obviously didn't bother Joey that the other guys were also in the room.
"Woah guys!" Chad laughs.
I groaned and pulled away. I laid my head down on Joey's shoulder. For some reason, we always get interrupted.
"Yes?" Joey sighs.
"Need a little pre-concert make out?" Chad teases.
"Oh shut up man!" Joey whines as he tosses a pillow.
"Why? It's fun to tease you." Chad smirks.
"Alan!" Joey sighs.
"What Joe?" Alan asks, clearly annoyed.
"Make Chad stop." He whines again.
"Chadwick, knock it off for once." Alan sighs.
"Fine." Chad grumbles.
I lifted my head, and everyone was staring at me. I move to where I was siting on the couch, next to Joey and lag my head on his shoulder. He kissed my head, "It'll all be okay. I love you."
"I love you too." I whisper.
Alan looks up at the clock and then turned to all of us, "Five minutes."
Everyone nods. We got up and quickly put together last minute things before the concert. For some reason, I was pumped for tonight. But last time that happened, I was attacked. Not to mention, almost arrested.
I was so in my thoughts that I didn't even realize that it was time. Joey wrapped his arms around my waist from behind and laid his head on my shoulder. Pulling me from my thoughts.
"Every thing okay baby?" He asks.
I turned to face him, "Yes. Everything's fine."
"You're absolutely positive?" He asks, raising an eyebrow.
I smile and laugh, "Yes, I'm positive."
"I love you." He whispers, laying his forehead on mine.
"I love you too." I whisper, kissing him.
"Man, can you two go five minutes without kissing?" Morgan asks teasingly.
"Can you go five minutes without teasing me?" I ask.
"I don't know. I've never tried." He shrugs.
"Okay then." I smirk.
"Children." Alan warns.
"Sorry Alan." I apologize.
"It's all good. Concert time." He smiles.
"Let's bounce." Chad says, jumping up. We all just sort of laughed at him. All the guys were enthusiastic about concerts.
We were escorted from the dressing room to backstage. We really didn't need the guards, but it was regulations.
The boys prayed before going on stage, and I kissed Joey quickly. They all jumped up and started. Alan started with a speech and prayed, then opened up with one of my favorite songs, 'Where The Light Is'.

A little while later, the boys finished and came down. Morgan and Spencer smiled at them while I hugged Joey.
"You guys did great." I smile, kissing Joey's cheek.
"Thanks baby." Joe whispers.
"Alright let's go." Alan says, almost literally jumping with joy. It's been nice to spend these weeks with the guys. They kind of help relieve some of my stress. Plus, just seeing them happy, gives me joy.
"Come on baby." Joey says, taking my hand and snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Alright, alright. I'm coming." I laugh.
We all were escorted back to the dressing rooms. The guys did what they had to do. Spencer finished like three books in that time, and Morgan was talking to Garcia. Or, should I say 'flirting'. I was currently helping the guys. I was humming to a song I've loved since 2012, the guys just ignored me because I did it often. Mostly when I'm thinking.
"Baby, what are you thinking about?" Joey asks.
"Just about tonight." I answer quickly. Spencer looked up at me. He knew what I was thinking.
"What about tonight?" Joey asks again.
"Just the next possible victim." I sigh as I finish Joey's hair. I smiles, "There. I'm done."
"Thanks Ash." The three guys say together.
"Thank you baby." Joe whispers, kissing my cheek.
"You're welcome. So, you guys ready?" I ask.
"Yep." The chirp together.
"Wait. What song was that?" Alan asks.
I laugh, "It's an older song. A couple years old at least. God's Not Dead, by the Newsboys."
"Wow. It's a great song." Alan smiles.
"Yeah. It is. A great motivator." I agree.
"You guys ready?" A guard asks harshly.
"Yes sir." They nod.
"Let's go then." He spats. I could tell that the guys were taken back by the guards behavior but were being polite.
"Morgan. Reid. Let's go, we gotta be on the lookout." I say, snapping their attention. They look up and nod. Spencer puts down the book and Morgan hangs up.
Joey took my hand as we walked out. The foyer of the building was packed. Teenage girls and boys, shocked to see the band. Morgan, Spencer and I looked around for any different behavior patterns. But tonight was practically normal, until after.
•A/N•
Aha! I'm back once again. Sorry for the majorly long waits. Okay, so the song 'Gods Not Dead' is a really good song. I just discovered the Newsboys last night but they're amazing.
But here's Chapter Twenty!
