Chapter Sixty-Two
Joey's POV~
The guys didn't come into our room until morning. My parents had gone back to Donnie's house late in the night to get rest.
Alan and his family, along with Chad and Fallon entered the room, plus Kane.
Ashley was still asleep, and I was holding my little boy again.
"Hey, Joe." Alan greeted.
I looked up and smiled, "Hey."
"How is she?" Fallon asked.
I laughed, "She's good, and exhausted. She spent 17 hours in labor."
Brycie smiled, "It's all worth it afterwards. Especially, when it happens with three."
"We might get there one day. Don't quote me on it." I snickered.
"How is he?" Chad asked.
"He's good. Quiet for the most part. How's Kelsey?" I questioned.
"We don't know. They won't let us visit her. She had to have an emergency C-Section late last night and she's recovering. Their kid is in the NICU, and they won't giving info." Alan sighed.
I shook my head, "I pray that they're okay."
"Us too. Caleb had to tell us." Fallon mumbled.
I smiled, "So, who wants to hold their nephew first?"
"Can I?" Kane asked.
I nodded and got up, carefully passing him the baby.
Alan grinned, "He kinda looks like you, Joe."
Brycie nodded, "I see it too."
I shrugged, "I see more Ashley, but his eyes are blue."
"Maybe they'll change." Chad muttered.
I gave a slight scoff, and rolled my eyes. Ashley sighed quietly, "Now what are you boys arguing about?"
"Nothing." I replied.
"I don't believe it." She laughed, "I know you two."
"He has Joey's eyes, and Chad said something about how they'll maybe change." Alan explained.
She nodded, "Hm. Nothing new."
"You okay, baby?" I asked.
"Yeah. Just tired." She answered.
"Then go back to sleep, babe." I suggested.
She shook her head, "No. I don't wanna,"
"How you feeling, Ash?" Chad asked.
"Tired. Very much." She replied.
I laced our fingers, and she laid back as Arlo was passed around.
About an hour later, I watched as Garcia poked her head into the room. She smiled brightly us. Morgan then looked at us from over her shoulder.
"You guys can come in." I smiled.
They slowly made their way into the room, the guys and their wives making room for them. Spencer followed, along with JJ, Emily and Hotch.
"Hey!" Garica grinned, holding a small stuffed bear.
Ashley smiled and sat up, "Hey, guys."
"How's the sexy mama feeling?" Garcia asked.
"Tired." She answered.
Garcia turned me, "What about you, papa?"
"I'm great." I nodded.
~*~*~
Later in the evening, it was only Ashley and I. She held Arlo as I sat next to her.
"Babe?" Ashley asked.
"Yeah?" I responded.
She grew a smile, "Will you cuddle with me?"
I sighed, I couldn't resist one of those smiles. I nodded, "Sure."
She grinned and carefully scooted over. I stood up and slipped off my sneakers before climbing under the sheets with her.
As I laid back with her, I took Arlo and let him relax against me and I wrapped the other arm around Ashley. She gently rolled onto her side and snuggled into me, laying her head on my chest.
"We're finally a family, Joey." She whispered.
"Yeah. We are." I smiled, kissing her forehead.
She went quiet as she got comfortable, and laid her arm over my stomach. She watched Arlo sleep with a small smile on her face.
It was like right then when everything changed. I now understood the love that parents had for their children, and something changed about Ashley. She had this different look about her, like her love just grew.
In that moment, I couldn't be happier. I chose a wonderful woman for my wife and now the mother of my baby. And hopefully in a couple years, have another.
"Joey, baby, get some rest. You're thinking." She mumbled.
"Then I have to get up real quick." I stated.
She groaned, "Fine."
I laughed quietly and kissed her forehead. I quickly got up and placed Arlo into the small crib, before laying back down with Ashley.
She snuggled back into me as my arm went around her. Her arm laid over me, lazily, and her head laid on my chest. I brought my other arm around, wrapping it around her waist, holding her securely.
"I love you, Ashley." I whispered.
She smiled, "I love you too, Joey."
I copied her smile and leaned down, kissing her lips.
~*~*~
I gathered Ashley's bag as she secured Arlo into the baby carrier. She cooed at him while he squirmed. She smiled as he relaxed once he realized that he was safe.
She stood up and slipped her arm under the handle.
I smiled, "You ready, babe?"
She nodded, "Yeah."
I kissed her cheek and followed behind her. She went to the nurses station and signed out. And of course, asked about Kelsey, but they still couldn't tell us.
Ashley sighed and nodded, heading her way. I followed behind quietly.
She placed the carrier on the floor as she entered the elevator. She leaned back against the wall, closing her eyes briefly.
I laughed, "You still tired, baby?"
She nodded, "Yeah. A little."
"Hey, come here real quick." I urged. She nodded, and stood in front of me. I smiled and cupped her face, leaning in to kiss her. When I pulled back, I kissed her cheek. "You did so good, baby. I'm so proud of you." I whispered.
"I didn't do much." She muttered.
"Hey, you carried our son for 9 months, then spent 17 hours in pain pushing him out of your body. If you ask me, that's a lot. More than I did." I explained.
She smiled, "You did a lot more than you think. You had to deal with my mood swings, and hormones, and attitude for 9 months. Including my cravings. I was pretty crazy."
"But I love crazy." I smirked, kissing her quickly.
She laughed and rolled her eyes, "You can get pretty crazy too, Joseph."
"That's why we work so well." I grinned. She went to kiss me, but pulled back as the elevator dinged.
She sighed and picked up the carrier, leading the way again. I followed behind, taking quick glances of my son, who was already asleep.
